How very kind of you to spend your time to make and share a video of all these different sites and free patterns. 😊 I’m recently retired with disabilities, I started back sewing after some 50 years and am working through some issues. One is finding cool bag patterns that are free. Though I truly believe that people deserve to be paid for their work, living on a fixed income is quite a challenge. I could be an intermediate level sewer but the machine that I can afford and limited mobility in my hands keep me more at a basic level. I am not complaining, I’m really very blessed compared to so many. 😊 The more I watch and come across people like you the more “ability” I pick up. All of that to say that your time is truly appreciated. I’m watching from Georgia, USA.
Thank you for your lovely comments. Free patterns are a great way to experiment with different styles and designers and even more so when on a fixed income you're sure you like a designer and their style of patterns and instructions before investing in paid patterns. 😊
Wow! Thanks so much for taking the time to share these sites and pattern designs. I have plenty of fabric. Now I just need to find my sewing machine. No telling which box it is packed in from moving 3 years ago before life took a terrible turn for my husband. Now, I have time and energy to sew. Should be a fun way to spend the snowy winter hours that will be arriving soon.
Thank you for a great video. Now I am going to have to find a very easy one for this old beginner. I think I want to try to do the little scrap “bog” with handles. Put goodies in them for friends gifts.
Thank you for the best video I’ve seen in a long long while. The research you must have done for this is crazy! You are a queen! Thank you , Thank you, Thank you! 😊
Thank you for your thorough reviews I like the idea of joining the groups to get the help from the people actually making the bags, love they are so different too x
thanks for this very useful video, I didn't realise there are so many free patterns available. I will definitely be checking them out, as I have seen there are some bag styles I already want to make. 😊It is useful to learn new techniques and where to buy accessories etc.
Thank you 😊 it was a lovely wander down memory lane looking at patterns I found in the begining of my bag making journey and some I wouldn't have met lovely people without finding first 😊x
Just came across your channel, and aren’t you just a little legend. Great video, great explanations and very grateful for your sharing of so many amazing free patterns for us newbies to get going. Thank you so much 👏 absolutely love your accent too, for some reason it makes me feel more like I can actually tackle some of these bags 🤣
Thank you so much for your lovely comment what a lovely way to start my day. I am so pleased you found the video useful and so grateful to have you here x ❤️
Another fantastic video Deb. I didn't know about RLR Creations so I am definitely going to try that one. I have recently been looking for a bag this shape. Massive thanks for this video. Your videos always answer so many questions. I need to place an order on your website now for all my supplies. Thanks Vivienne X
I wish I had found your channel before. Usually I sew garments but a while ago I decided to have a go at bagmaking and wanted to make the Noodle Head Making Backpack. However, I really struggled trying to work out what interfacings to use as many of the materials listed in the pattern weren't available where I live. I did get there in the end but made some silly mistakes. Like for instance the first one I made, I included stiff interfacing in the seam allowances which made the bag really hard to sew. I made a further two where I didn't make this mistake and they were easier and look great. I am just about to make the Cousette Musette weekend bag which is really just a sewing project with no hardware but is a great size. This is a great video and so much information to follow up on.
Oh are you from the north east? One the ladies who comes to the sewcials I run was born here lived in South Africa for a long time and now lives back here I love listening to her talk (and her stories) I love her accent. Thank you for watching x
@@teresacleator_9937 my father's side were from that part of the world. Probably why my accent has a slight teeside twang to it. I'm a little further north between Durham, Newcastle and Sunderland ❤️ x
Great video Deb, giving me lots of ideas and new designers to follow. The first bags I made are included here, the Retreat bag is great but I followed a video by Sew Very Easy where Laura added outside slip pockets and webbing shoulder straps. The next one I made was Miss Maggie with the Long John strap connectors. I love this bag and used it to death. Perhaps I need to make myself another one. I will be sure to look at the many others you highlight here too.
Thank you so much for watching and your lovely comments. It was a little wander down memory lane outing the video together and going through my patterns x
Great video, some old favourites on there like the sunshine crossbody, and the harlequin but then some newbies. Loved the look of the little quilted one by TobiStylix...didnt realise she had a freebie 🤷😍
I'm so glad I found your channel! What a fabulous haul of free patterns, it's hard to choose what to start with. I just subscribed to you, love your accent - Scottish?
Thank you so much for subscribing. I am from the north east of England just outside of Durham. So about just over an hour from the borders of Scotland 🙂

I have made his messenger bag as my first bag. His channel is called Miko Craft. His video instructions are quite good. TY for posting this.
Sew many creations has free patterns for cork. Sew sweetness has a few great free beginner patterns and great instructional video's. Altho her patterns are a bit advanced.
Just love these tutorials, they make it look so easy, then I do it and I always screw up, either the measurements, or the seam is crooked or my sides never match LOL and to think my mother was a first class seamstress, she never sewed bags but dresses, she also created a dress she sewed that ended up in a fashion magazine. She sewed many wedding dresses too. You could wear her clothes inside out they were so perfect. No matter how hard I try I never get it right. Part of it is because I am loosing my eyesight, removed the cataracts and I now see better but still screw up, I guess it is not one of my talents. 😔
It can be so frustrating at times one thing I have really forced myself to do is slow down. I am a 100 miles an hour person so I have a tendency to rush things but I have found slowing down cutting out, and interfacing and then taking my time sewing enjoying the process more has made me have less oh FFS moments. I am blind as a bar without my glass I think I need magnifiers now 🫣 x
@@TheBagMakersSewCiety I also rush everything but I have been trying to sew simple pouches a little at a time, I still screw up no matter how much I try, sewing is not for me even if I like it. I am better at knitting and crocheting.
