When I started going to track days, the R15 was the king of the pit lane. They were everywhere, and everyone who wanted to get serious about riding had one. Since I quickly moved on to instructing, I was often riding R15s as a coach. And those were brilliant days. Because it felt like it was impossible to make a mistake on the nippy little Yamaha. Mechanically as well as while you tried new things to see if you could find the next step for your skills. A colleague and I, a few years later also attended the California Superbike School with identical v2 R15s and had a three-day blast. We went impressively enough for our coach to tell us that had we been on R6s instead, he (on a CBR600RR) would have had a hard time keeping up to watch us. I'm sure Darren Sweetman was being polite but that's the beauty of the R15. It's like a warm hug of a sportsbike. What memories riding the motorcycle in this story brought back.
This is the strength of the Yamaha brand, and it's engineering. The thing we'd like to see a lot more of.
Oh and we've just started releasing detailed videos on the R15. Here's where you'll find them

It's Sunday guy's 🍻👍 and r15 is just awesome 💯. When we will get the r3 or Mt03
From what we're hearing, won't be long
Damn... This video confused me more... I was set to buy duke 250 to horn my skills but always have wanted to buy sports bike. R15 looks good but never knew it was this good as described here. What do I do?
@@coolfriend693 just don't worry my friend buy Husqvarna svatpilian if your buying Duke 250. I mean if you want a bike that can look better and increase riders confidence + at less price 😁 I think just go and ride it first best of luck peace
Both good bikes! Just pick one... you can't go wrong
Proud owner of 2011 R15 V2 here, it's been more than a decade and she still brings a smile on my face even after a short ride to office 😃
❤️
This is purely true.... R15 thrills, it really starts blood flow.....
Listening to shumi's voice on a Sunday morning>>
♥️
and listening and appreciating my life long love... my 2010 R15 ❤❤
I just woke up, good morning, happy Sunday, or, whatever is remaining of it.
It's a vibe, an emotion.
I saw this bike on the college parking lot, that was 2008 - looked so small, so docile, and the first ride was just as expected, till I saw the first corner, and then I wanted to go on to the next corner, I was 21.. I was going to live forever, and this was it, this would go along with me to the next corner, but alas I could not afford it then. Today I am 35, I can afford this, but now I also know I may not live forever. But damn, this bike still makes me feel like I am 21, and my first heartbreak was just a few glances away 😀
Nailed it! That's exactly what it does!
Very well written. Same feelings bro 👍
@@sathyaki Part time writer full time content consumer - but on the internet - I am an expert (I am a rider with a skill level of 1.5 on a scale of 1-10) 😁
@@lalitkhopade6747 I just hope you did not catch the heartbreak part, otherwise though ❤
Oh boy! This write up got me back to MY heartbreak days. Uff.....things the heart can experience.....
This is it. This is the final push I needed. I'm getting myself one of these bad boys soon, and hope to make up for all those years of not having ridden a motorcycle.
Best of luck FC! Let us know how it goes!
i got one this week white color and its a beauty and the beast at the same time
@@morespeedmorepeace take it around a twisty you will automatically tilt your head the right way. any other bike you will do snake dance. lean one side head on other. it's a masterpiece of engineering. the best of it's class. never doubt anything from the stables which makes the mighty R1
Congratulations!
do it before it becomes too impractical for your age. 😅 like it did for me.
Got an R15M as my first bike 12 days ago and I am so excited to learn stuff on it. This video has made me more confident 😊
Congratulations!
Hi, is this difficult to ride? Means will it create back pain because of the riding position? Used Honda Unicorn & Xblade only. Please advice :)
@@Ronsindia Agressive Ergonomics demands frequent breaks and stretching when you take this on long rides. Learn how to lean the right way without hurting your wrists and you can ride this bike limitlessly.
@@haaarrdik Thanks, will R15 or Honda CB350 RS will be good for riding, because already having a little back pain.
@@Ronsindia Please don't go for sports segment if you have back pain issue. Go for the Comfortable one with an upright sitting posture...
Not only the way this motorcycle handles and the chassis. The engine has so much potential which can do triple digit speeds and by this I mean keep up with the 400s on a weekend ride (yes been to leh with my 390 buddies on the v3) while returning 50+kmpl that's not only looks good but surpasses expectations of the average India guy asking "kitna deti hai?" They really need to come up with something like RT15 which is more like a touring spec version 🐥
Agreed! ❤️
The only Yamaha that still revs our heart.
❤️
Back in 2013, during my college days, my buddy had a 1st generation r15, I loved riding it more than my classic 350, we used to go for trips ans the r15 would give 40+ mileage even after cruising at high speeds, I recommend getting an r15 to all those who want a beginner bike
Absolutely! ❤️
Bought the V3 abs with my very first salary back in 2019, It's been three years and my heart still skips a beat, when i take a corner or hit that VVA sweet spot of 6k rpm or more, Adventure bikes are surely luring people for what they offer these days, but man this one is a keeper for sure, i would just keep this for the rest of my life even if i get to include anyother.
Also shumi, karthikeya and the whole motorinc team, thanks for what you are doing.. These videos about life, motorcycles and your experiences are surely driving me and a lot of young motorcyclists to be responsible and is helping us to look forward in finding our better selves everyday.
At the end as you say every bike can take you wherever you want in its best capacity, however its all about how you aspire to reach there and what all you want to take back and carry along with you for the rest of your life makes the difference.
PS:Its my first comment on youtube ever since, felt like putting out what i feel about your work and your contribution to my wellbeing directly or indirectly.
I wish more people or channels respect everyone's time like you do and contribute something good to them instead of selling some random face wash or behave as if an average indian biker/motorcyclist is a dumb brainless idiot with free internet at his disposal to watch all that BS!! day in and day out.
I wish you a great health, tremendous success and many more kms on your motorcycles.
Rachh!!
Been about 6 months since i got this bike, my budget friendly dream machine. To this day i find myself seeing videos like these and just appreciating the bike. Low cc or not this bike ends up finding a spot in your heart.
the quality of video and the experience i have got watching this master piece is marvelous!
Proud owner of a 2011 R15 version 1 in blue here. Have done solo rides of upto 700 kms a day on this beauty with luggage and with absolutely zero problems. Living in a hill-station for work for almost ten years, my favorite time of the week was Sunday mornings, when I would ride past the ghats for a simple breakfast. Still riding this beauty in Bangalore traffic where it weaves through traffic with such ease, although this is not where the bike truly belongs. It takes even the bad Bangalore roads in its stride, without any major fuss. I call my bike the 'Yamasutra'. ;-) I have started looking around for an upgrade, mostly among the 250-400cc class bikes, but nothing I have test-ridden so far came close to the satisfaction the R15 gives. The Yamaha R15 is the gold standard of 150cc motorcycles.
As regarding my next bike, my heart says Honda CBR 650 R. Brain says KTM RC 390 or TVS Apache RR 310. But here I am.. Waiting for Yamaha to show up with the R3 or R7..
Wow! You truly love your R15.
That's an interesting name you've given to your bike.
Word on the street is that those bikes may be launched in India.
it was the V2 back in 2013-14, when i was on my way back to home from school on my cycle and a V2 appeared out of nowhere all in its blue glory, leaving me in a complete awe. heck of a machine it was. love at first sight. dreamt of getting one for the next few years, but had no luck. then came in the RR310 in 2018, fell in love again 2nd time, now this time i'm gonna end up buying the beast soon. Need a motorinc styled review on the RR310 now, shumi. please have one.
I own one. And I'm thankful to it, my v3 made me to enjoy what really biking is❤

Proud to own 2012 R15 V2 Red / White dual color sports bike. Its already a decade full of experience. Yet, Still refreshing to RIDE! Thanks fo Yamaha for this wonderful MACHINE❤
Pure content and no bs, that's what makes a subscriber come back and experience the shared emotion..BTW I have been a Yamaha fanboy for 2 decades now (Fazer 125 era) and without a doubt like Shumi mentioned you should own one to experience the sheer Japanese tech at its best.. It's been 13 years and my babies SZR, FZ 25 and R3 are still revving my heart 🤘

Always been a fan of Yamaha. I've been riding r15 v3 for the last 5 years and boy it brings a smileon my face everyday! I`m in my early 30's now and sometimes I feel I'm too old to ride this bike but the child in me always knows what a sweet baby it is! No drama and a pure fun machine which is very forgiving and beautiful road manners.

My very 1st bike with which I started my motorcycling Journey and experience was the R15 V2 2013 edition.... It felt like I was on my own feet while riding...had to sell it on 2018, I miss you so much Brother... Love you my WB 24Z 4267 ❤

No matter which bike I choose to buy next, my heart will always belong to this exquisite machine. It holds a special place in my heart, and nothing can replace the fond memories I have of riding it. Sadly, I find myself longing for the joy and exhilaration it brought me.
Insane production quality❤❤
Thank you very much!
Back in college my roommate had one R15 V2.0, it was terrific, he also got the V4 now and it is commendable what Yamaha did it with. But I never thought about this bike in such a way, like how can a 150 cc bike be Legendary ... but with my open mind and this video, I can see why ... #cheers guys
Thanks SSD! Always good to hear from you!
I own a V2, it’s going to be 10 this October and man it still rides so well. I still haven’t found an upgrade. I’ve ridden the KTM RC’s but did not felt connected to the bike like the R15.
Wish there was a bigger displacement with the same looks and rideability

R15 is a beautiful machine. The way it represents the sports bike category is unique. Thanks to MotorInc for covering the quintessential vibe of this beauty.
Thanks SSP!
The first R15 that I rode was the og first generation 2011 a yellow bird! and oh boy that was it.
For a guy who wasn't interested in bikes, that bike literally changed my life and went on to ride and understand about every single generation and i have a particular affinity towards the skinny first generation.
Ride it hard, and its a beauty that's simpler, light ,nimble and agile, makes you become a better rider every time you ride it.

I love watching videos on bikes specially reviews. But finally I have the type of reviews that I always wanted to watch. This review is HYPNOTIC. I am not a big fan of the R15 just because of the ergonomics but now I want one 🙃
Go take a test ride Pritom!
@@motorinc I feel irritated when I think about test rides, all thanks to TVS. In 2019 When I was in Kolkata, I visited two biggest showrooms closest to my location for test ride of Apache 200. Both denied me. Now in 2023 I am in the eastern most part of Assam and using the TVS website's Book a Test Ride option, I booked a test ride twice, but zero action. If TVS is least bothered about a prospective customer then imagine their after sales service.
Oh god, that’s terrible!
My v3s is my first bike and it feels like it was always ment to be like a soulmate..i love this bike

3:20 I got genuine goosebumps as a 23 year old R15 owner after hearing this🥹♥️
It accompanied me to my college, gym and now to the office while still looking fresh as brand new🥹♥️💙
I still remember, for a 5,3 tall one like me sitting in it will itself give a sense of cocooned
Owner of R15v4… It is indeed a marvellous machine on high ways. It crosses 130 without any struggle. More importantly the stability of the bike even though you crossed 140 is amazing. It is built for top speeds. The breaking ability of the R15 is top notch. If you are young and ready to push your budget a little, just go for it… Bcs, you can’t ride this bike when you are old. You can ride the naked bikes for the rest of your life.
♥️
R15S is also worth checking, about 20-25k cheaper than the base V4 but loses out on inverted forks (makes up with 41mm fork diameter compared to 38mm?) and track modes and some bluetooth features. It does have the comfier seat and a sleek matte black paint job. With the saved 20k perhaps PPF or an aftermarket quickshifter?
Epitome design of Yamaha .... dedicated to own young Indian hearts
Every man deserves a good bike that makes him smile.
I own 1st gen R15S!! & I absolutely agree with Shumi that this bike can do it all. I did my first ever long ride Pune ↔️ Bangalore, my oh my was I surprised!! This little 149cc 14.8 hp engine could do the triple digit speeds all day long(with luggage)!😍🫶 I just love it 💚🖤💙🧿
Absolutely! They're insanely good! Glad you're enjoying your riding Nachiket!
Yamaha R15 v4 is the sweet spot for me, I want a bike to daily commute but i want an aggresive bike when I want to go full on speed mode, plus the VVA tech help a small 155cc engine pumpup more power than 250cc, the main reason it is a sweet spot is i am not gonna push it all the time, and hence when I want I have that raw power available and when I dont want I just get a good mileage, I am gonna buy R15 v4 next year. Thanks for this great explaination, awesome video.
Totally agree. Go for it! 👍
"A maximum you can hit with a ball is 6 and yamaha R15 is 18"
that start is simply genius
Hi Shumi... Can you please provide some insights on the new 2023 xpulse and xpulse pro? Interestingly, none of the major reviewers have done this.. I would love to see you both and Karthik whistling those machines and providing a review which I feel is the need of the hour! Thank you..
We're waiting for the test bikes!
I have 2019 bs4 and damn the exhaust note and the Handeling of high speed with a milage of 45+kmpl even when I am at 130-140kmph it's lovely ❤
♥️
Hi Sumi, I am loving your videos man, I have a question, my old Yamaha fazer v1 100/80 r17, 140/60 r17 tyres, i had very bad experience with my previous tyres (michelin pilot sporty) can you please suggest me good wet and dry grip and less puncture tyres. please let me know haven't got any trusted info anywhere.
The only regret I had when I had my R15 V3 was not taking it on track. Two reasons why brought this bike was for track use and touring. Although I completed the touring part the track side remains empty. But people get shocked when I say I felt most comfortable while touring on my R15 V3. The handling, the engine mamia! It's crazy how a 155CC bike can easily cruise at 100-110kmph all day without any or less to minimum vibrations and can maintain that speed. It's the reason why I always believe that the quote- "there's no replacement for displacement" is not always true. Glad I had my time with my dream machine which was my 10 years dream. Now being in Canada I might start biking soon but sure I will go for either R3 or RC390.
Thanks Divyesh! All the best for the R3/RC390! Do take it to a track there!
How is the biking culture in Canada?
Not being able to ride bikes for 6 months a year is making me sceptical of moving.
@@AnandA2155I have just moved in here actually for studies. I can't say much but here's what I have noticed. People over here treat biking as a luxury and not a way of transport. Most of them will be four wheelers over here. Can't say that it's a fact that in Canada you only do biking for 6 months. Need to check about it.

Hi Shumi! Hope you're doing good. Like the way you explain in these videos. Can you please do the same for Suzuki Gixxer 250 especially SF 250? Because I feel like it's so underrated.
Can do!
Hey shumi, I have ridden both of r15 and rc390. I want to buy one of the motorcycle for track. Shall I start with r15, get skilled at 150cc segment and then sell the r15 and buy a rc 390...or or or get the rc390 straight up for the track that would reduce the hassle of buying and selling a bike.
Or shall I give a try to rr310 BTO which I find VFM
Shumi's narration is spot on. He is our Jeremy Clarkson❤

I was not sure about riding a sports bike when i decided to sell my fzs v3 and buy a new bike but always wanted to ride one and only couple of kms test riding r15 v4 i was sure of buying r15m and I'm glad that i bought this bike last year. I have done 13000 kms on it rode for more than 600 kms on one day manali to Chandigarh and back still never felt anything that i can't manage on this brilliant machine. Would keep it with for years. And the best part is exceptional mileage this bike gives I'm getting much higher mileage that's too riding much faster on this what i used to get from my fz.
I would say this is the best bike produced purely for India and then went overseas.
I would rate this above RX100 and RD350. This is a legend because even for a normal rider this is an easy bike to ride at triple speeds and man it wont sweat a bit in triple digits. What a machine.
It's all that!
Would love some talks on helmets and safety gears from you ❤

The handling, engine mapping (not kidding it's perfect), weight, those kybs and many more add to the complete experience of a sports bike.

I myself motorcycle mechanic from pune. These bikes from Yamaha are pure gold if you know your use , what I mean is eventually after few time there will be issues with every machine but the refined engine Yamaha makes is beyond what we could achieve (I felt)… I mean such pocket friendly and lovable bikes never felt with other bikes and this might sound biased but it’s real.
I owned Tvs Apache , Bajaj Ns but first bike was Fz16 so eventually after that bike got to know what Japanese are capable of ❤
Thanks😊
Well said! Yamaha bikes and their engines have managed to stand the test of time and they do so remarkably well.
Shumi.... Great great storytelling.... I am a fan... I just have a small feedback, if you dont mind... The volume of your voice seems to come from far away and not from the mic and that's a bit dull... Your voice hits hard and makes your followers happy to listen to you... Could you please use a nearby microphone or can you pls edit it to be clearer among the background music.... Pls understand this is coming from a sincere place... Not a criticism... Always love the way you present, it's inspirational.. ✌️ peace
Thanks for the feedback! Let's see what we can do about this
Thank you, Naveen! Feedback noted.

Love you work and truly a legendary motorcycle!
I wish Yamaha added a 250 cc single to this so that it could slot between the R15 and the upcoming expensive R3. The R15 is great but there are so many 200cc and 250cc in the market that are cheaper and more practical.
Then it would properly be a quarter-R1! So cool!
@@motorinc I found out that in Indonesia and maybe the Phillipines, they have the 250cc versions of these bikes, namely R-25 and MT-25, except they have twin cylinder engines. Why do you think we are getting the 03's instead of the 25's? I think our people would appreciate the 250cc versions more.
The SEAsea 250s are because of a tax regulation that makes them cheaper in those markets. Everywhere else, the 321s are what Yamaha sells
it's been sometime since Yamaha has dropped a nuke in the market. they are masters at it. just keep patience.
@@motorinc Thankfully the Duke 250 exists!

Is it underpowered for a first bike? Motorinc recommends 25 to 35 hp for a first bike..i think I’ll grow out of it too soon...maybe rtr 200 4v is better?
Yamaha R15 m or ktm Duke 250 ? I want to own a bike for 10 years + . I like both of them in terms of looks but power , mileage , daily commuter , are also the factors . Which one should I go for ?

The FZ25 is a markedly different bike to the Duke 250. Ultimately, the choice should come down to which one appeals to you at the end of a thorough test ride.
Would like to hear your insight about gixxer sf 250 as it falls under the same price category .. Can it be used as a sports tourer as it got better displacement than r15 but it falls short on several parameters like refinement, aerodynamics and that so called oil cooled engine which suzuki boasts of to keep costs under check... Wanna hear your point of view about this underrated motorcycle😊
Of course it can! To us, though, it's not a sportsbike... more like a faired sporty commuter, which has pros and cons
The violet colour of r15 looks to nice !
Yamaha should prefer this colour for their bike
It feels so good to my ears to hear his voice. 😂
It would be great if we can have a video on the Kawasaki Z series.
Can do!
