The best production exceptionial cast - Frittoli was fantastic the end is surreal and engaging loved it!!! I lost my mother at birth it is exceptionally challenging to witness this ending and so emotionall when it is done so well !! 'd love to think that when i die my mother was there to meet me!!
The greatest tribute to a singer I witnessed at the Met from my forty years of attending. Barbara's senza mamma was so emotional charged and riveting the night I attended, the whole audience was united in tears. With our emotions out of control, no one thought it was appropriate to clap. Dead silence only interrupted by some sobbing. Only a great artist could have that influence over an audience. Brava Frittoli - a memory for a lifetime.
I was there I love this production ..she was great both the aunt and suor Angelica...one of the best production in a long time of puccini's opera...........
Are you the same person who comments on so many videos here who say that what you just heard is the most beautiful, wonderful, spectacular, gorgeous, performance there ever was? BTW, do you think Frittoli ever learned how to support her tone? I know, I know. Beyond your pay grade.
I saw Frittoli sing this a couple times in the season when this production opened. I just loved it. I also saw her do a sensational Desdemona. In her time, she was not just a terrific singer but also a terrific actress. There is a video of her doing Donna Elvira at the Met in a terrible production, but her acting in it is just delicious! One of many singers I feel lucky to have seen and heard.
Excelente presentación, ayer tuve la oportunidad de estar presente para ver esta obra trágica... Me puso el nudo en la garganta con los ojos llorosos...❤🎉
On the risk that I am earning laughter but could the singer from 12:20 actually be Kathleen Battle? The sound of her voice, the gestures, the moves, how she pulls back the chin and stretches the lower lip at sotto voce , the phrasing at 'misere mei'- everything reminds me of Battle. Recently she had a comeback evening at the met. So could it be possible that she was incognito in this production, too?
I’ve seen Suor Angelica several times - with Renata Scotto, Theresa Stratas, Patricia Racette - and I’m seeing it again in Amsterdam in a few weeks. I often wonder how the soprano gets through an aria like Senza Mamma.

@@donaldgrove1972 Well, I am sure it was 2007 because it was the last night of the season, and I had just come home from CATHOLIC SEMINARY!!!! Horrors! Ha! I think the orchestra had beeb drinking by Gianni Schicci!!! Is that the correct spelling, Donald? Anyway, I guess I am like you with connecting it with other things. So, if you check and find out for sure let me know. Thanks!
@@donaldgrove1972 Donald!! I will never get over seeing the nuns do a step-touch-step-touch coming downstage late in the opera! I almost burst out laughing. Do you remember that?
This is No.1 Suor Angelica in my life. Grandissima Frittoli!!
An outstanding performance of an unjustly neglected masterwork.

Di una bellezza e profondità sconvolgente 😢
masterpiece by the Levine Frittoli duo
Oh that voice of Frittoli - probably among the most beautiful in history...

¿La mejor voz de la historia? No. Eso nunca. Cantó bien, a pesar que su voz es bien limitada.

One of the best.
Excellent performance! I love this opera, and this production is best. Barbara Frittoli is perfect, I liked her even better than Renata Tebaldi.
Tebaldi never sang this on stage though

Bellísima presentación. Excelentes intérpretes. Bravo ❤

You wouldn’t happen to have the Tabarro with Licitra and Guleghina? I think the Gianni Schichi was with Juan Pons?
