And their stage performances were flawless back then. I'm amazed as to how professional and in-line, on-time and in sync they were with each other. These boys were BAD! Love it!
I am the same age as Tahj.. (maybe a few months younger)... But I distinctly remember what a HUGE deal this group was!! I am also reminded of just how many Black male and female vocal groups were at the forefront of the music industry during that time... The 80s and 90s were DEFINITELY dominated by vocal groups.. particularly R&B vocal groups.. And those groups produced some of the most iconic albums!
The fact as children they were writing and producing their own music, knew not to work studio equipments is dope. And they all grew up really well also! Their dad was the kindest but God bless their parents for managing them and training them they was the did.
The Boys was the SHIT. Vocals, to the dancing,.... DAMN. Love the part when Tahj come in high at 3:20. Also him & Hakeem singing "Dial it, DIAL IT" starting at 3:38.
I felt like a kid again all vrushing when I watched them perform on these YT videos for the first time.....well its been a minute...lol. Love love loooooove you guys!!!
I remember this show specifically as well because the version they did of "Crazy" was awesome. Talented guys then and now. Pretty solid family structure as well. I have yet to see them on one of E!'s has been shows or the evils of being child stars. I enjoyed them so much when they came out.
I still have their videos on VHS. I was so in love with ... Taj (green outfit)... I think that was his name. He was the cutest one of the brothers. The last thing I heard about them was that they were really big in Japan and stayed there for the last couple of albums. I wonder where they are now and what they are up to.
That also shows you how BIG Arsenio was at the time, because it used to be that Apollo performances would set the stage; but, with Arsenio, you REALLY had to bring it.
@SlickEmLicksEmDown Arsenio was my fav talk show back then! Primetime at its best. I used to stay up late to watch him every night. My moms was cooled like that. I was a little one, but had to watch Arsenio! Man, those were the days!
My bad... his name is Hakim. And from my very quick Google research, The Boys transplanted themselves in Gambia, West Africa and renamed themselves The Suns of Light. They set up a recording studio and have continued to create music with a new sound in the mother land. The still look good! Check 'em out on UA-cam and MySpace.
Hello Jaboys7, just wanted to say that your kids are extremely talented. you must be really proud of them. Those videos bring back a lot of good memories. I heard Hakim's recent work, it's really good. Hope to hear more. All the best to your family.
Tears in my eyes. The last of that era of entertainers who sang and had choreography. Reminds me of an era of time gone by.
can we give props to bilal, he ALWAYS kept up with his brothers!!! Baby B!
And their stage performances were flawless back then. I'm amazed as to how professional and in-line, on-time and in sync they were with each other. These boys were BAD! Love it!
Hakeem was singing his ass off, lil dude was smooth
They better sang live!!!!! So many shows back then required lip synching. Loved how Arsenio seemed to always have true live performances!

I still have their videos on VHS. I was so in love with ... Taj (green outfit)... I think that was his name. He was the cutest one of the brothers. The last thing I heard about them was that they were really big in Japan and stayed there for the last couple of albums. I wonder where they are now and what they are up to.

i love how these dudes mocked all the other hot performers of their day. in the real video, the madonna vogue-ing was perticularly priceless..

@SlickEmLicksEmDown Arsenio was my fav talk show back then! Primetime at its best. I used to stay up late to watch him every night. My moms was cooled like that. I was a little one, but had to watch Arsenio! Man, those were the days!

What year was this ? This couldn't be 1989. They look and sound a bit more mature than from the video. Great live version nonetheless.

It's such a shame that 90% of the music that comes out nowadays is CRAP compared to this.
