she could've told him she was still in love with him, and make everything worse. but she realised by herself, that despite the fact that she loved him with her whole heart, love is also about wanting to see them happy, and that's what she did. it was selfless, and beautiful, which just shows how much she's grown.
and even though ross said her name instead of emily's, that's on him, rachel did nothing wrong here.

Emily's hate has been so normalised which I have always found ridiculous. The man who repeatedly told her he loved her, decided to marry her and build their lives together said his ex's name on the wedding! To add insult to injury, Emily saw him leaving with Rachel on THEIR honeymoon just when she decided to catch her plane with Ross. What do you expect her to do? Would you expect yourself to forget everything and happily act married? She tried to make it work, she wasn't controlling she was well within her rights to ask Ross to move for her especially when Ross had the audacity to ask her to move to America when he proposed! No it makes sense I agree with you. Emily wasn't bad as people made her to be. People need to try to be in her shoes. I agree it was utterly unfair to her. Yet that’s how she grew up, getting the short end of the stick no matter how hard she worked for their approval. Even when she did manage to get married there’s a cut scene of her mother dismissing it since she wasn’t pregnant. That’s harsh. I have a strong feeling had we gotten an 11th season Monica’s mom would have said something dismissive and negative about the twins not being true gellars and she would have finally gone off on her. Wish we could have seen that

The camera cut in 1:23 is actually amazing. It literally shows how Rachel was the third person between Ross and Emily and how she divided them, which lead to their marriage not working. A very good director’s choice

E.g. dismissing and insulting him, like calling him a cheater and forcing him to admit all the blame for the breakup. She was quite frankly horrible, as Hugh Laurie said in the airplane. So, if only there was a greater sense of emphasis on balance between comedy and drama, you would have felt more at ease with this scene.

I think this is amazing acting (and possibly writing, because Ross seems to have romantic feelings for Rachel here. Nothing big, nothing obvious, but a hint and enough to make his upcoming mistake at the wedding plausible. Well done, David Schwimmer (once again)

Rachel was so kind in this scene. I don't know why people say she is the reason why Emily and Ross didn't work out when it was clearly Ross's fault.
It was her fault because she knew that she was gonna that if Ross saw her, especially when Ross expected her not to come, it would mess with Ross' mind. She was fully aware of that. So even when she didn't say that she loved him, it still messed with Ross' mind because of her unexpected appearance. She even had the audacity to go with Ross to his supposed honeymoon with Emily.

I love many moving scenes on Friends. Two of them are this scene (when Rachel said congratulations instead) and when Rachel said "Baby Girl Geller-Green". Those are unselfish acts whether some people admit it or not.
People may interpret this Rachel's congratulations differently as they wish. Some people will just keep saying negative things about her, putting all the blame and mistakes (even for smallest things) on her, and fixating only on her flaws no matter what she does, making it seems the writers made her a really bad character so that other characters will shine. Some people keep refusing and even ignoring the character development she had throughout the series and hating her from like the bottom of their hearts.
Well, I love Rachel. This fictional character teaches me a lot, and other characters do too. And Jennifer Aniston portrayed her perfectly, and the awards she won show it all.
If she wasn't invited then I would agree that she crashed the wedding but in this case she was invited she did get an invitation. So technically I wouldn't call it crashing a wedding.
Rachel here show so many respect to his marriage by say congratulations and not i love you

@Forever _chay omg stop over-analyzing everything. first, it's a sitcom and these situations are here for a laugh. second, they both decided to go on that trip as friends because Emily was the one who left Ross and Ross didn't think she's gonna show up at the airport. The moment she showed up, he went after her, not Rachel. Also, he said Rachel's name at the wedding because it's obvious he still loved only Rachel - she was always on his mind, even if it was subconscious. That was the whole point of this scene when Ross says Rachel. This the reason why the writers wrote it this way. It was ''nobody's fault'', it just all about complex feelings and love - which is the most powerful and complex emotion.

I wonder whether anyone recognised the actors who did the roles of Emily's parents. Sir Tom Conti an established theatre actor and Jennifer Saunders an incredibly funny comedienne who with Dawn French ( the Fat Lady in Harry Potter who tries to break a glass with her voice) were iconic comedy duo.
