Mississippi is a state in the racist south & not a city. It has mostly been known as the poorest state in the union. Your guest is young & inexperienced, she doesn’t comprehend how the 🇺🇸 is operated.
Me too Sylvia, I have never understood why shower and toilet in the same room...na hakuna partioning? I am not used to that. That will be my non-negotiable.
Depends on the state you are in. 100k is comfortable living if you keep your costs low. Whether it’s two people working or one working, it’s more about how much you can keep.
Closed AI startups like OpenAI and Anthropic have invested millions in GPUs for training and inferencing. Now, Deepseek, an open-source initiative, has shared its low-budget model, which is proving to be highly capable-competing with OpenAI's GPT-4o and Anthropic's Claude 3.5, both of which are the current state-of-the-art (SOTA) benchmarks. Since NVIDIA's latest GPUs have been restricted from entering the Chinese market, Deepseek had to rely primarily on Huawei's computing technologies for training. As a result, the market reacted, leading to a significant drop in NVIDIA's stock. Will NVIDIA recover its previous heights? I doubt it-unless these U.S.-based closed AI startups release future models that outperform the current benchmark scores. However, with the open-source release, disruption is inevitable. Imagine academia, PhDs, ambitious startups, and existing companies that currently depend on these closed AI APIs. If they choose to build upon Deepseek's open-source code and methodologies, the possibilities are endless. I doubt NVIDIA will regain dominance before this disruption unfolds-Deepseek's release has already outperformed and tied some benchmarks.
Agree! The argument was Mwaf seems to think it's a lot of $$$. Only about 10% of Americans make $100k & 8% are men. It's very hard to make $100k without overtime, once you make it, you realize it's not much. I personally know an American tech guy that makes $180k in San Francisco, he's homeless. Dude lives in his car & showers at the gym. A 1 bedroom in San Francisco CBD is about $5k, he also got tired of an extremely dysfunctional roommate. $5k for a 1 bedroom is financial terrorism, it's not much cheaper in Oakland. Dude supports his entire family back in Kenya, serious black tax issues. Bottom line is $100k isn't a lot of $$$, especially if you have a family. Only folks that live in America comprehend this, especially since it's pre taxed.
Regarding the Lyft issue, I don’t think she will win. First of all, ride share drivers work as independent contractors and NOT as Lyft or Uber employees. That limits Lyft’s liability. Secondly, the driver had a valid safety concern, which he clearly communicated to the rider. I’ve done a few Lyft gigs and I’d make a similar decision as this driver. Unfortunately the lady is too big to safely fit in a such a compact car. As the driver clearly stated, she could have ordered a different category (eg XL). This is clearly a money grab and I don’t think she’ll succeed. I don’t think the driver has an obligation to do a scientific calculation to figure out if a passenger will damage a vehicle. Even airlines do the same thing, and it’s not unusual for obese passengers to be charged double because of occupying an extra seat. I honestly don’t even think that the woman would be able to secure a seat belt in a small Toyota sedan. Not trying to body shame her, but she got some extra pounds.
@ Mwas ukifanya Ai course the part you said machine will be intelligence than humans is not true and will never be true. I will direct you to John Searle "Chinese Room argument" because thats the first basis. You need to also understand how AI works
