- One of the biggest mistakes I see photographers make on their website is a lack of self awareness. Sometimes the most simple things are overlooked. But these simple pieces of information can make or break the experience of a potential client looking into our services! I'm taking a look at some of our student's websites and giving feedback on how they can improve!

Love this! On the last website Katelyn was concerned about mispronouncing the photographers last name. This has always been an issue for my last name! I have a Chinese last name because I married into an amazing Chinese family! Yet, NO ONE I meet can pronounce my last name correctly. Or ask me if "I'm sure" if I'm saying it correctly? Or they may ask "what kind of Asian is your husband?" So I decided to go with Jacqueline L. Photography so people don't get distracted by my last name or even have an unaware prejudice when looking at my name and website. I often wonder if this is the right choice though? Is someone more likely to hire a Jacquie Johnson or a Jacquie Lai? I'm not sure?! But I do know I NEVER was questioned about my name before I got married. I guess my question is can a name be too distracting if a potential client doesn't understand it or know how to pronounce it?
I definitely think you should go with Jacquie Lai! It makes you stand out and you can use the about me section on your website/social media to tell people how to pronounce it.

How long should I wait to update the photos on my website? Like every 6 months or once a year?
As you find ones you love!! I typically do it once a year... I save favorites in a folder and then update during the off season!

hello katelynin I want to share my experience here in europe you find a photographer and you call him or her and its all about the price how much per photo or per hour nobody cares if on ur page one photo is like this or like that there are no price or these pages what you talking about...better you put on those pages details about prices...so page is nice but if you are a client you want to know the price and thats it.best regards

Right now I’m honestly even figuring out if I wanna stay with my business name. Currently it’s MeliHenderson Photography but I’m wondering if that’s too long or if it should be Melissa Henderson Photography? Does it really matter how long a business name is? My maiden name is Cisneros so lol also long. Wondering bc the website maker I have doesn’t let support customization and looks off when I have too long of a name 🥲
