I was literally just struggling with yellowed highlights and beside myself with how to maintain color integrity while clearing the skin of that jaundiced hue. So helpful.
this is such a HUGE help for my Photo 2 students as we talk about White Balance and Color Theory in their manual settings & editing. Thank you!!! You are a staple of my curriculum for both Photo 1 & 2. You're awesome!!
Katelyn, you have to be the most forthcoming photographer out there! There a lot of great photographers, but when it comes to sharing what it takes to replicate YOUR style, you are heads and shoulders above the rest. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your teaching and techniques. I'm in Ohio where we go straight to our Cuyahoga Valley National park to do so many of our high school senior environmental portraits. I struggle with this green cast more than I'd care to say! Could you do a "darker" example of this green cast scenario at some point? I'd sure appreciate it! Many thanks, and I hope you know how wonderful you are to the community. Cheers!
If I had not had structured Lightroom classes, I would be totally lost as to what you just did. I find it interesting to watch how you moved around, instead of just taking a top down approach. I have only been editing seriously for around two years, and I have sort of developed to a point where I am hitting certain parts of the editing process, not using a top down approach. I do suggest structured lessons for a beginner. It is just better having an in depth discussion as to what each feature does, and showing them in use. I still haven't created a basic preset that I can apply to most every photo. I did have a class in doing that.
Thanks Katelyn for explaining this very well! I wondered now that in Lightroom colour grading has replaced split toning if you would also adjust the midtones in this process of removing the green skin tones.
Hello Katelyn, big compliment for your channel. You are very personable, professional and informative, thank you. Question : do you see a problem with the canon r6 because of "only" 20 MB for landscape photography? Thank you for your help
Do you have a tutorial on the basic import preset? I've taken a LR class, but there are still so many things I don't know. Also, which version of LR are you using because I do not see split toning in mine! TIA!! (and love your videos! you were recommended on one of the FB photography groups I follow).
Hi Katelyn, I love watching your videos. I wanted to ask what you think about using Luminar 4 for photo editing. I’m a beginner photographer and use luminar 4 for photo editing. Luminar 4 can be a little slow and I am not able to use all the tips you show us on Lightroom. Do you think I should switch to using Lr?
@@KatelynJames Thank you very much for your advice. But I am just concerned about the subscription and monthly payments for Lr since I do not have clients yet. Do you think I should invest in it since I am trying to build up a portfolio that will eventually help me get clients? I am very for my long questions. I just need your honest opinion please.
Hey Katelyn! Thank you SO much for this tutorial. I've been struggling to much with this problem... although I'm reaaally trying to find good light, I feel like I'm for some reason always missing it! Could you maybe explain how exactly you find this clean light? For example, I'm always putting my objects in the shadows on a sunny day, with the sun behind them. But how do you still manage to light up their face, without any aditional gear? I've heard tips like 'take your phone out and check the light on your own face', or 'just look at your hand', but in a forest (most of my shoots are in forests), I never find it. It always looks dark and greenish.. Would you help a girl out? :D

You're so welcome! I love photo classes!!
I should clarify-this is for high school students and you break it down beautifully for them. Thank you!

Your couch changed color!!! :) You are doing such a great job at this UA-cam thing! All your courses have prepared you for this!

Curious! Why do you take the yellowness out of the green hues in the Collaboration section & the HSL section?
These adjustments affect two different aspects of the image and so I do small tweaks to both!
Wow!
Thanks for watching!

I would start here!: katelynjames.com/free-class-lighting but honestly the lighting and location course would help the most!

Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the great content.
I would just put the elliptic tool on their faces and adjust the color.
Great choice!
I always considered green skinned characters in movies and video games pretty :P Just saying it.
A little bit too much talking and spinning your mouse around the image skipped the first 2.5 minutes. Overall I learned something from your video
Thats the goal! Thanks for watching!
