I did this, they don’t allow you to swim because there would be too many people splashing around at once in a confined space and would be disruptive for the fish. 5 every hour so it makes sense - it’s meant to be for beginners so if you were swimming you’d have another thing to think about and lots of obstacles to dodge
You won’t get a PADI certification for this. For the Open Water qualification (the usual beginner level) you have to do 1-2 days in a pool plus 4 open water dives spread over another 2 days.

How deep was it? Did you need to do lots of decompression??
You can go to a depth of 10 meters / 33 ft before you needed to do a safety stop.
Once you get past 1 atmosphere, then you need to look at decom
