I know you don’t do magic content (excluding that crazy computer) but I’d really like to see your deck tech and an in-depth opinion on selvala. Building my own currently and looking for some advice. That wheel deck you made was super cool.
i hate mono green for cedh since u have next to zero stack interaction, you baically have to wait for the blue players to tap out and god forbid if theres a force of will/negation or ur fucked
I was doing some maintenance on my Selvala deck last night. Today, people are sending me links to this video. Good breakdown. I enjoy this kind of Selvala deck because I'm always noticing new synergies. Glad you gave proper recognition to the power of the elk.
Great video's! I am fairly new to Cedh and your explanations really help me in getting to know the meta! Would like to see a video on Elsha of the Infinite
This was cool, I like the way they're described. Such better detail than many techs out there. I like the things your doing at different parts of the game.
Great series! I chose Yisan to build over Selvala mainly because I love creature/toolbox style decks. I'd love to see Golden Control (Tasigur), Harvest Animar, or Wanderer's Song (Yisan) next.
Wanted to have a cEDH deck in my arsenal just so i have the option depending on where I play. While I don't normally like the idea of monocolored decks. I fell in love with Selvala the moment I saw her. Built her in between the budget and full list and she plays like a dream! Always enjoy seeing her in action and I enjoy this style of video. Honestly didn't even think about using Beast Within on my own stuff for infinite beasts!
I am thinking about putting together a more competitive Kinnan deck and would love to see one of you guys play with him so I can see the directions you go with him.
I like to have a protean hulk in there. I can try to ram it into something for combat or use it as a target for any of the sacrifice to draw spells. And when it dies you can search for temur sabertooth, wirewood symbiote, and any 1 cmc elf. If Selvala is already on the board then in one fell swoop you've created your infinite combo
These videos are awesome!!! I’d love to see you guys play an Experiment Kraj deck. I used to pilot one that was so much fun. Come to think of it, I might rebuild it cEDH style 🤔
In the first combo you explain with sabertooth+wirewood+llanowar elves: Selvala taps for 6, which means there has to be another creature somewhere on the board with 6 power, since otherwise she would tap for 4, which would mean, that you lose 1 mana on every cycle of the combo. I'm just saying this because this means it's basically not a 3card+selvala combo but a 4+selvala combo
Marshall I totally agree with you. Even though they say that, that was very confusing to me and I had to read Selvala to make sure I saw and heard the same thing. I think it still should of been clarified better after seeing the animation for it. Good for you on catching it too.
I personally like polykurnos as a boardwipe over somberwild stag. Had a sliver deck make infinite tapped slivers and he was telling us how he was just going to win next turn. No body read the sword of paruns i had sitting on the board and I wasn't planning to go inf that game because i was feeling out a new shop. no one expected the mono green deck to kill all the creatures at the table especially at instant speed.
Would love to see a good Yuriko deck. I have one that is pretty good already, but I'm curious about what the deck would like at Maximum Power. Keep up the good work!
Could someone explain why Selvala is tapping for 6 when the highest power creature is a Temur Sabertooth, and 8 with the same situation? Even adding all the power of the creatures (which I'm sure is not how is not how the card works) it still doesn't come to 6 in that first example, so I'm super confused. Thanks in advance!
Thank you for the clarification, rewatching it now I see the graphic wasn't meant to be indicating exactly what was on the battle field at the time. Duh
Was wondering; Wirewood Simbiote says you can activate "return..." ability once each turn, does not the second iteration of the Symbiote see that you have already taken the action?
It becomes a different object that ignores all previous activations after leaving and entering. So, since we bounce it you may activate symbiote as much as you want as long as each symbiote is new.
can the deck be viable on a budget? i wasnt seeing any gaea's cradle in the video and worldly tutor as we all know spiked beyond belief. I currently have a semi competitive Inalla deck but i was interested in selvala for quite some time plus I have a casual ezuri elf deck i can trim for some core components.
Yes this can definitely be built on a budget. There are only 4 cards over $100 in the whole deck. The deck price is also somewhat misleading because it thinks Snow-Covered Forests are $17 each.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG wow cool! as of right now the number of cedh players where I live is low, but should the numbers shift due to popularity ill definitely go for it, thanks!
I don't have a specific request but I would rather watch videos about unusual commanders than the most common. the most common, most popular, and most trendy commanders have plenty of resources available and plenty of discussion already; many fringe commanders it's a struggle to find a base to work from
Much of the deck still holds up, but there is some new tech. Ashaya, soul of the wild provides new combos with Quirion ranger and scryb ranger (bounce themselves and untap selvala, recasting the ranger to reset the ability). Ashaya also provides some incidental protection against removal that specifies non-land, and gets bigger the more creatures you cast, giving you more mana in mana-limited scenarios. The deck is still very consistent, winning by turn 3/4 pretty often. If you’re budget conscious (ie you don’t want to spend about 2000 dollars on fast mana artifacts and gaea’s cradle) you can build a slower variant that’s still pretty powerful for only about 400 bucks that has all the essential combo pieces and wincons. Check the Cedh deck database for a link to a good list, primer, and budget list. Hope this helps a bit!
How are you able to Tap Selvala for 12 with Phyrexian Dreadknot on the stack? It hasn't entered the battlefield yet so it can't be targeted by her ability, right?
Phyrexian Dreadnought's ability is an Enter The Battlefield trigger (ETB). So with the ETB trigger on the stack, it's on the battlefield and you can respond to the trigger by tapping Selvala.
Gaea's Cradle, Survival of the Fittest, Mana Crypt, and Mox diamond are over $100 each. The manabase makes up a big chunk of the price of the deck (fetchlands, Ancient Tomb, Cavern of Souls, etc.). Oh, and Worldly tutor was just recently bought out, so that's skewing the price a lot too.
So any particular reason Sword of the Paruns isn't run in Selvala? It also goes infinite with her like Mantle does. Mantle is obviously better because tapping and untapping are part of the costs of the abilities and her ability is a mana ability so no one can respond to her tapping and if they try to respond to the untap ability she's already untapped and can tap for mana in response to start the loop again, making it impossible to stop without a split second spell......that said Paruns would be redundancy for that combo even if it's slightly easier to stop. Also, infinite combos are great and all, but tend to be harder by nature than finite but arbitrarily large damage. Meaning you don't need to deal a billion damage to your opponents to win, you just need to deal 40 to each (yes I know people gain life, they also lose life too, let's just use starting life totals). I'm personally curious if anyone had even tried doing a Selvala storm deck like that this tries to be a bit faster by just reaching for enough mana to kill the table with a lethal hurricane spell after gaining just enough life to put its own life total over that number (not hard, there are plenty of cheap green spells that will net you a chunk of life). I could see it being that it's not actually that much terribly faster, but I would assume not needing so many pieces to loop and just needing to make a ball of mana for a hurricane might at least be less complicated/more consistent? IDK, just seems like something to try, I had a 60 card mono green hurricane deck a long time ago that basically 'stormed off' like that and all it needed was to resolve a single Fruition prior to a large Hurricane/Squall Line to win and it was a lot less effort than trying to do something inifinte. Also also.....'Oombral'? It's 'Um'. Try saying Umber, Penumbra, Umbra, Umbrella with U as OO and it's just as silly.
Laughably bad card and strategy recommendations aside, the fact that you’d criticize a person’s pronunciation of a card already says enough about this comment. Go away.
Jesus, such an interactive deck. Just opened Selvala and wanted to make a commander, but this is flat stupid, I'll rather go play solitaire than play a deck like this ugh
I’m Kyle Hill and I approve this deck tech.

Can I see your list Kyle?
Could you explain to me the reason for Oakhame Adversary in a cEDH deck? Is there something I'm missing?
@@rooster3737 almost always costs 2 & draws a card every turn, also counts as an elf for Priest of Titania.
Oh, hey Kyle! I love your vids, and it's so odd to see two unrelated channels I see together. But like, odd in a fun way?
LOVE these episodes!!! Would definitely love to see a deck tech on Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy. Love all the content you guys put out there!!!

Unless they deleted their comment, there’s literally no one complaining.
Abraham Drinkin they’ve prolly been buried by now, but it was near the top when I commented
Great addition to the channel, so excited for a series
This is hands down the best cedh deck tech series I’ve ever seen. Keep it up, and please don’t exclude “fringe” decks.
I'm pretty new to MTG and this video by far does the best job explaining how a deck works! Very thorough and fun! Subbed!
Wow, already onto CEDH. That was fast!
Absolutely love this series. Seriously helps me win more games, just knowing what to look out for.
YAY! Another great episode! I love this series! Go PWP! Also first!
I would love to see a kinnan or thrasios/kydele deck. And I can't wait to see more complicated decks

cant wait for deck tech on mono blues. especially urza.
My Selvala edh is my favorite I own, it’s Mono Green Tron featuring everybody’s favorite creatures: Eldrazi
Selvala looks so fun to play!
Great video as usual. Loving the deck techs. Would love to see one for blood pod
Love this. I would love to see a Kenrith Midrange deck!
Very cool series !
I’d love to see either oona or yuriko next! Love the vids!

I hope they make an Yisan decktech. It's my favorite commander!

Does anyone in your play group have a krrick deck that we haven’t seen yet?
i just made a selvala deck
I’m confused why does she tap for 6 if the greatest power is 4?
This is exactly why I avoid building Selvala, fun to see you do it though.
Your tech advice starting at 3:36 is wrong. You’re suggesting to tap selvala for the total power on board and not the creature with the greatest power
Why is it $2000? What is expensive other than sylvala herself?
Gaea's Cradle, Survival of the Fittest, Mana Crypt, and Mox diamond are over $100 each. The manabase makes up a big chunk of the price of the deck (fetchlands, Ancient Tomb, Cavern of Souls, etc.). Oh, and Worldly tutor was just recently bought out, so that's skewing the price a lot too.
