You mind sending me a timestamp to the Card in question? Yes, all Creatures without Haste are effected by Summoning Sickness. If we’re discussing how to get Selvala out by Turn 2, Fyndhorn - or any other Mana Dork - needs to be Cast on Turn 1. 👌
@@LocalGameGroup It was at around 24:45 but I forgot about thousand year elixir! My bad! and great guide I've learned a lot and am thinking about making a deck with Selvala as my commander!
Minor nitpick, but having the logo over Patrick's face at the start looks... off. Difficult to process. It's hard to read the logo, and one of the card outlines in the logo appears over Patrick's face like a squiggly mustache. Perhaps add a white background within the logo. If you want to preserve the transparency of the logo, perhaps have the white background fade first, then the entire logo. That aside... this is phenomenal!Seriously, high marks in all categories.
I wasn’t 100% on that either... I wanted it to flash into frame, something like a flicker effect, but that didn’t agree with me either. I may do a similar intro as the outro... No worries, I’ll keep toying with it. Perhaps a preamble into the logo, sweltering music, that sorta deal: *boom* content. Thank you for the input there! -Patrick

Selvala is awesome. Don't play her if you don't like taking long turns and making others wait if you're going the stormy route Of course you can play her more casual and just pump fatties into the deck
If you don't mind powering down your deck for the sake of budget, what would be good alternatives for the following cards? 1x Ancient Tomb 1x Gemstone Caverns 1x Memory Jar 1x Misty Rainforest 1x Phyrexian Dreadnought 1x Scroll Rack 1x Survival of the Fittest 1x Sylvan Library 1x Verdant Catacombs 1x Wooded Foothills 1x Gaea's Cradle 1x Mana Crypt 1x Mox Diamond Gaea's cradle has to be Growing rites of Itlemoc right? Phyrexian Dreadnought can be replaced by any huge artifact creature, so a "Ancient Stone Idol" or "Darksteel Colossus". and the fetch lands can be the cheaper kind, but what about the rest? I don't have 1600+ $ to spend on a deck, so I understand that I might not be as fast as this, I just really like this concept.
So, I’ll be talking budget/meta choices a little later this month, but... Ancient Tomb -> Shrine of the Forsaken Gods/Temple of the False God Memory Jar -> Slate of Ancestry (for Draw potential) Phyrexian Dreadnought -> Buff Spell/Low CMC, High Power Creature Scroll Rack -> Sensei’s Divining Top (Still $$$) Survival of the Fittest -> Fauna Shaman Gaea’s Cradle -> Nythkos, Shrine to Nyx Fetch Lands -> Basic Fetches/Hickory Woodlot or Havenwood Battleground Mana Crypt -> Sol Ring/Mana Vault Anything I did not list does not have a suitable replacement. cEDH, in general, is about efficiency of Mana: *doing more for less.* Sadly, the most efficient cards in the format are expensive. @@LocalGameGroup yes, I understand that some cards can't really be replaced. thankfully I just play regular EDH, I just lkiked the list a lot thats all :)
*She that nurtures?* Definitely love that tribal flavor... I was playing around with her in the 99 for Selvala (almost like another Titania, who’s not in anymore). Marwyn has a ton of potential. I’d love to see the list, Sean(-davidfusco)! In much the same way as Selvala, she can net infinite mana fairly easy. The circumstantial Card Draw isn’t *so* crucial (it’s game changing 50% of the time), but it really puts Selvala a cut above. Thing is, two generic and one green... I know it's a while after this video came out but I'm confused.. why is his link to the deck different than what he is playing in the video? He mentions so many cards that aren't in the decklist. Such as phytoburst, vitalize, wayward swordtooth, memory jar, etc
Glad to hear (read) it! Selvala is a tough one to manage at first - from understanding what to look for in those opening hands, to managing play-by-play during a combo turn - but once you piece it together she is devastating.
damn this (and two sequels) are probably the best (no 'one of' bs) cedh introduction video I've seen! explained enough win-con, no reading card redundancy, the voice is clear, no accent( no disrespect to those who has an accent, but a good video does require the voice to be clear enough). and have just enough information for the card choice.
Cause Walking Ballista adds nothing to this deck and is dead outside of being an outlet. There are cards in deck that allow us to go for a win. Though their play lines may be complicated, it’s worth knowing.
Very enjoyable deck tech. It's nice seeing an IRL tech, getting to see your take (promos and basics and such) on it. And you come off very comfortable and fun.
I think I got that shirt when I was 17... Had to be, I was in high school when I saw them live. Haha, when you pay $40 for a t-shirt, you wear it for life 🤘 -Patrick
Yeah, totally does. If you have a Dork and two Lands, you can still easily go off with a 1-to-2 cmc big Creature or Buff, an Untap effect or Draw Spell, there are a multitude of combinations to help you out in that scenario so you do hit your Land. Also, on that note, if you can *avoid* playing a Land on Combo Turn, that’s even better. As we want to utilize all are Untap effects to include Wirewood Lodge.
You mention [[Mobilization]] when you show [[Vitalize]]. But you mean [[Mobilize]]. [[Mobilization]] is a white enchantment that gives soldiers vigilance.
You may Cast *Berserk* any time during your turn so long as it is before the *Combat Damage* step. That is the beauty of it in all Selvala primers. -Patrick
I prefer benefactors drought over the rest of the untap spells because it gives you another way to draw your whole deck if you don't have a win con in hand.
So.. Yeah, I have. It's nice because it is Tutorable, but it unfortunately doesn't make the cut. The Deck is geared towards speed and having to wait a Turn to enable Haste is just too slow, haha. As crazy as that sounds.
The 99 you’re right. I just realized it’s a creature (embarrassing)! I got just bought crossroads too. I’m working around not having Curio or Staff of D. I’m trying to make the deck durdle less by using more tutors (B Pod, etc). Found Malachite Talisman and I think I can use it to make enough mana for a win, even though it’s not infinite.

i disagree with your presentation. i want to know ALL the different cards that function the same output not just the "optimal" or "perfect hand" scenario. Yes you can turn 3 with sevala, but it would help if your establish all the different cards. Also, 2020 says hi, thereos beyond death gave us a new creature that ETB untap target creature. And we also now have a 6 CMC Ape creature that is Temur Sablretooth but for "human" creatures and Amorphous Axe from Modern Horizons says hi.
Go and follow the link in the description via Moxfield to the current build. Do note that this video was produced over a year ago, so cards will change and continue to as more sets release. Allosaurus Rider says "Hi." Also, don't use Amorphous Axe.
Land grant is neat, but would have the same odds for casting Selvala if it was a basic forest. Turn one shuffle is likely irrelevant, and 1 card deck thinning does not appreciably matter.
(Replied to this very comment)... *Land Grant* is two cards for one, being able to effectively thin out your draws and produce better ones is always relevant. It can provide a Forest *or* a Dryad Arbor in a pinch as well as secure a turn two Selvala. An ability like that, for zero mana, is far more valuable than throwing in another Basic. -Patrick
I feel as if the argument for land grant is a bit flawed....the main argument is that it can be used to fetch a land to play selvala on time. However a land in its stead would provide the exact same thing. The only benefits it has are deck slimming (which is largely irrelevant) and shuffling which is relevant since you play Scroll Rack.
