It dawned on me a couple weeks ago that these would be cheaper than pvc, so I went looking to see if anyone on UA-cam has done this and here I am, watching your video! One of my neighbors tossed five hula hoops today. They left them out with their garbage cans so I scooped them up!
This is BRILLIANT!! I'm headed out the door now... I bought bug mesh a few weeks back and have been looking for cheap alternatives to keep the netting up off the ground and this is perfect! Thank you sooo much for uploading this 😘
Thanks, Dan! It’s good to laugh at yourself sometimes. Laughter makes a heart merry. A merry heart is like medicine. Genesis 21:6 says, “Yahweh has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.” I hope you had an awesome weekend and a blessed week to come 💚
Tanya, I've never used hula hoops in my garden, but after seeing this video, I will! Thanks for another great idea. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. ~Margie💚🌤
Hi, Margie! The weekend is always too short. Hopefully I’ll get some gardening done today. I hope your weekend has been amazing and your week phenomenal 🙏🏽💚
THANK YOU FOR THAT WONDERFUL AND INSPIRING HACK --- I WAS ABOUT TO GO BUY THAT PVC STUFF FOR MY HOOP TUNNELS 👍🏽👍🏽 I LIKE, I LIKE!!!! ALSO, VIDEO CAME UP IN MY FEED, GLAD I WATCHED 😊🤗😁
Hello, there. I had heard about this...I instantly found your channel when I typed it in. Thanks so much 💞 and I am going to be getting from dollar tree 🤣. I'm subscribing now.
What a brilliant idea! I was going to spend $15 on 25ft of soft pex tubing for a mini green house, now I’m going to check out the hula hoops from my local dollar store!
Bought them to support my tulle and organza fabric covered, elevated raised garden bed. Works economically well with protection from many critters as my little produce market grows.
Good evening, I just love your use for the Hula hoop in your garden. I use them also but not in a garden, I use them to make seasonal wreaths for my doors 😉 Thanks for sharing your video 😀
Great Idea. I am planting Brussels sprouts and cabbage today. We have squash bugs n caterpillars here so we need fine mesh. I had a different way but it is not tall. I am doing to the Dollar store.. i USE TO OWN A DOLLAR STORE YEARS AGO ... Thanks.
This is an awesome hack and I will use it in my garden this season. If I do and I make a video on my channel I will send it to you. Thanks for this wonderful hack!
Awesome, I love thinking outside of the box. I’m just starting a container garden down here in Mission Viejo. I’ll be checking the dollar tree around the corner and the 99 stores for other hacks. With money buying less we have to stretch our money. 😀 Rich B
Thanks for watching! I hope you find lots of useful items! Don’t forget to grab some seeds from the Dollar Tree. You can’t beat 4 for $1! And they actually germinate well. 💚

So I was thinking---I have some roses & other large plants that tend to flop (so do I, but another story for another time!), & I thought, what if I shoved 3 or 4 stakes into the dirt & then surrounded them w/a hula hoop & tied them on. Love your idea, too, maybe I can actually get to eat some of my blueberries this year by doing this! Oh I LOVE a good hack or two! Thanks!
Great idea because I just can't afford to many of the PVC pipes especially at one time. I wasn't using the hula hoop but I will be now. Thanks for sharing 🙏💜
PVC adds up! I’m in SoCal and it seems like the prices are rising every month. I’m always looking for ways to save money. Hopefully the hula hoops work well for you. Thanks for watching 💚
Thanks for this hack. I bought 10 yards of tulle and I have a few hoola hoops. I have had the tops of my zucchini and squash and tomatoes chomped like potatoe chips! 😥 Trying not to give up. I had decent grow season with my first garden 2020. Now the critters of the woods "have found my garden"! 😳 Praying this helps.
I should help you a lot. Sadly, once critters find our gardens, it takes everything we have to get them out or at least under control. Don’t give up! It’s all a part of the life cycle. 💚
Genious. Thank you! I knew it would be a woman talking to another woman to figure an easy way to do this. All the guys wanted me to take out a power drill .... nope.
Use 2 garden canes just push one inside on each side if you need more height . If need be use a staple gun for holding them but I didn't need to it was tight enough. However, I never finished what I wanted to do, which was a plastic garden green house .
I been using little red painted rocks for years now. When my tomatoes and strawberries start to turn red I lay out the rocks near the plant and the birds get fooled. It has helped me a lot
How much are the hola hoops compared to PVC pipe? Most PVC is cheap and can be bent using only sand into any shape. Also thicker, made to be more durable than the plastic used in hoops.
You found the green netting at the 99 Cent store not Dollar Tree, correct?? I need that netting but we don't have that particular store. Squirrels are a pain in my area.
Great hack, but I thought I was gonna go nuts if you said the thing about the Dollar Tree hula hoops and their lack of weight, their flimsiness, etc., any more than you did...lol.
Hi! Most gardeners cover to keep insects like moths from laying their eggs on plants. When the eggs hatch the worms/caterpillars feed on the plants. It also helps to keep birds from eating your crops. I hope this helps you. 💚
@@techtiger8 It depends on what you use. Bird netting has holes big enough to let pollinators in. Mesh and bridal tule does not, but most leafy greens don’t need to be pollinated.
The plastic is pretty strong and because the garden stakes are in there, it should hold up pretty well. Of course it all depends on the weight of the row covers that you choose. 💚

Awesome! Much cheaper than PVC
How can I grow a garden being renter friendly. I don't want to plant something and get into trouble for it. Any ideas?
Container gardening. You can use pots, raised beds, planter boxes, stackable planters, hanging baskets, etc. 💚
@@thebusybrownangel5829 thank you!☺️
Would be helpful to have seen one of those hula hoops opened with the “plaster” inside displayed; a hula hoop at the in-between stages.
When you cut the hoop, llittle plastic beads will come out. So you should hold over trash can.
You found the green netting at the 99 Cent store not Dollar Tree, correct?? I need that netting but we don't have that particular store. Squirrels are a pain in my area.

why do they cover gardens with that or plastic or when do you cover garden
Hi! Most gardeners cover to keep insects like moths from laying their eggs on plants. When the eggs hatch the worms/caterpillars feed on the plants. It also helps to keep birds from eating your crops. I hope this helps you. 💚
@@thebusybrownangel5829 Does it block pollinators?
@@techtiger8 It depends on what you use. Bird netting has holes big enough to let pollinators in. Mesh and bridal tule does not, but most leafy greens don’t need to be pollinated.
Cover in netting to help keep critters out, cover in plastic to use as a greenhouse effect.
Try tulle get from fabric store
The netting is cheaper than the tulle and it’s better for watering and receiving rain water.
Wonder if these would be strong enough to lay plastic and blankets over. We use this method when it gets colder
The plastic is pretty strong and because the garden stakes are in there, it should hold up pretty well. Of course it all depends on the weight of the row covers that you choose. 💚
Great Idea!
Thank you! 💚
