Depends on book size.
Medium size (I'm assuming 200 pages) 8-10 books can be fit...but who the hell carry that much books...this is a laptop bag...so i recommend this bag for a laptop and 3-4 books.
My husband used this to carry his laptop charger, one of his favourite book and few other common stuff...like lences, hard drive, power bank...some keys, pan...etc..

Yes, you can fit a 15.6 laptop in it without any issue.
Yes offcourse you can change the existing password.
Without cover it can safe your laptop from drizzling rain.. But to protect from proper rain you must need a waterproof cover... Which comes with bag.
