Thanks for this great video! I’m so happy and proud my snare is in there!
Hey Gergo! Thanks man! It’s an amazing snare! //Simon
Man that record quality is superb as always... really a joy to listen to, especially with these fresh grooves and great playing! I really liked the Pearl and Gretsch sounds. I'm always a fan of really high pitched snare tunings... I would love to see some odd sizes like 13", 12" diameters or really small depths. Keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot Chercht. Gonna put this on my video list. Odd size comparison sounds great. //Simon
The Gretsch all the way, I bought one last May as soon as I learned about it. It can do absolutely anything, any genre. Peter Erskine's drum is my second favourite, just a great all around jazz snare with a classic sound and look.
Loved the GRETSCH.
Thanks for the informative comparison as always!
I would have liked to hear the drums with the snares engaged even without music, it may be a bit more engaging this way but it makes it that much more difficult to hear a drum's character.
Also when you demonstrated the first snare's low tuning you still wrote "High tuning" in the pop up box.
Hi Luca. Thanks for the comment! I will consider it again for future comparison videos. Thanks //Simon

Great video! Btw....what are the cymbals, you're hi-hats in particular.
Great playing! Well done!
Thanks a lot Dimitri. Which is your favorite snare of this video? //Simon
All are great! The quality nowadays is great, even in cheaper models. The 'Peter Erskine' one is the one. Although I am biased, from Peter's work with John Taylor and Jaco. Still, with your approach, they all shine. Carry on.
If you like that Halpern model, you should definitely check out his original Mapex signature model. It is the easiest to tune snare I've ever heard. Also, never needs any muffling, i.e.,microphone ready at every moment.
Tama star classic is best
Nice presentation, great playing
Thanks for listening //Simon
I Love the Pearl sound!!!
The first snear is great sound
i love the TAMA sound
This Kit sounds great and the recording is stellar!!! You should make a simple VSTi out of this drum kit as it is!!!
Thanks Yiannis. Really glad you like the sound! //Simon
Great drummer
I Love the Pearl Sound
Piccolo isn’t just a dragonball character it’s also a killer snare, isn’t any one into the tight fast sharp lil snares anymore?
That Gretsch is looking fine👍🏽
Piccolos are my favourite!
what hi hats are you using ?
Hi! It’s a 15” Zildjian Kerope Hi-Hat! //Simon
What about 12" snare drums comparison? I'm trying to find aux-snare...
Great idea!!!
I'm not a fan boy, But I haven't really ever hear a bad Ludwig Snare. I have two classic Slingerlands two DWs a Greatch and Two Ludwigs. If I have two keep only two It would be the Ludwigs. Even though I love my Radio King.
They are all good, but I'd simply get another Yamaha. :)
😂 Which Yamaha would you prefer? //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash Hi SImon, my opinion is rather irrelevant here as I play 95% of the time the guitar. Drums are cool to have around of course as drums + guitar sound much better than just the guitar so I spent 5% of time on them. :) The thing with Yamaha is that they consistently tend to outperform the price you pay on a relative basis to other manufacturers - at least this is my opinion. Yes, signature models are not a regular occurence (also in their guitar world), but quality is very good for the price. I do have a Rydeen set from Thomann - the set probably costs as much as the snares you demonstrated, but does the job for me. :) Thank you for the nice video!
What song did you use?
Hey Marc. Sorry for my late answer. The song in 7 is called 7th Groove from Drumtrax.com and the Pearl snare song was written and produced by myself :-) //Simon
Cool
That Pearl backing track is sick! Tried Shazaming it with no luck, but luckily came across this comment. 😊 Care to provide more info on that tune? 😁
@@ramikarhu2934 Hi Rami. What info would you like to know? :-)
@@ThomannsDrumBash Song name and is it available somewhere? :)
can i buy exactly these hihats?
Unfotunately not. They belong to me personally. //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash you got a good taste my friend 😉
I can't decide between the Ludwig one and the Matt Halpern signature one
Ludwig? 🤔
Simon, seeing you block your breathing like that always makes me worry 😱😰
I know. It’s something that I struggle with for a long time! It’s pretty hard to get rid of it! //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash no kidding! Those are hard to tackle. But i’m pretty sure it would improve your playing. Which is already outstanding.
Cheers from Switzerland 🇨🇭
