    I love going to see presidential homes, museums and gravesites and I love learning about the presidents, I did a book report on Zachary Taylor in elementary school but my favorite president is Abraham Lincoln and Gerald R. Ford, Ford and I share a birthday and we are also Eagle Scouts from Michigan he was July 14th,1913 and I was born July 14th, 1992 so I greatly appreciate you posting all of these videos they are definitely very entertaining and I enjoy each and everyone of them and every single video you post is absolutely unique in every way possible and I love how different each video is and you have that perfect uniqueness to telling a story about people and other things, so thank you for being an amazing person and thank you for being you and making amazing videos!! It's been a while since I tuned in to one of your videos. Yard work and politics have taken precedence. I'm glad I caught this one. A little scandal is always more interesting than just a cut and dried story. I don't remember studying Harding in school history, but I do remember the Teapot Dome scandal (just the name...not the lesson lol). It looked like you had the burial site to yourself so you didn't have to worry about a mask or social distancing. You can pretty well be sure of that in a cemetery. lol You do a good job. Thanks

    I am from Galion OH, where Harding’s parents were married and not far from his home village of Blooming Grove. If you go there, you will only find a plaque commemorating the place of his birth, right next to the school building he attended. That building is now a private home. I don’t know if you know that he began life with a cloud over his head-it was rumored that his ancestors were black. It was considered quite the stigma! Also, the letters that you referred to created an awful controversy. His family, some of which still live in the Marion area, were bound and determined that the letters would never be seen, resulting in a court battle. The upshot was that the letters were published in an unauthorized ( by the family) biography; all that was actually printed was the salutation of the letters, followed by a big bunch of blank!

    • @clshifley742
      @clshifley742 3 роки тому

      Also , the memorial was paid for by small (mostly five- and ten- cent) donations from school kids.

    A very interesting story. I think the president was not too bad (show me one without some form of corruption).

    When scandal was mentioned with Harding; I thought you were going to mentioned about him being part black, very open secret in Marion, wife did destroy many documents she should not have.

      It was proven through DNA in 2012 that Harding was not black.

    Popular president, yes. Was he riddled by scandal? Yes...scandal or no, doesn't mean he didn't do good things. It bothers the hell out of me that presidents can do really good things, but because of scandals or one bad thing they did, everybody hates them. Mention the good things they did, and they don't believe it because ALL they know is the bad and the scandals....and the fact that they don't bother to know the facts, just what they're told. 😔 Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
    Nixon was another one who did really good things in office, but un informed people ONLY see him for the bad he did beacuse that's all we're conditioned to learn.
    Same with presidents and others we have learned in school did the greatest things and they really didn't. Lincoln for example was just as as corrupt and shady as ANY other politician, but because we learn in school that he did nothing but good, that's what people believe.
    Point being...Did Harding do bad things? Sure. Was he aware of them? Who knows? Did he do a lot of good too? YES...So he did good and did good for the country, but nobody cares??? Really??
