You don't want double plots for anything except carrots and apples for the most part. Each family consumes one food, regardless if the plot is single or double. Each home consumes one firewood so that's the one upside of it. The other part of the equation is that double plot homes do not produce more food then single. So let's take eggs for example. a double plot produces 1, consumes 2. Where as 2 singles would produce 2 and consume 2. Some times with artisans doubles can be fine. Usually late game when you are mass producing for trade. Usually the first 2 artisans you'll need doubles for, in order, are brewer and baker. You get a double for the veges and apples so that you can make a bigger back yard and have the work force to plot, sow, and harvest all of it. Having a bigger back yard does not yield you more eggs, meat, hides, or artisan goods. Edit: another thing to take into consideration: 2 single plot level 2 homes net you 2 gold income, the double plot 1.
Interesting take. Others are claiming the exact opposite due to new market mechanics, saying single plots are dead.. Guess we'll need some testing to see which view is right.
@@H1ST0RYWriter New market mechanics don't even come into play here. It's all about food economy. Both ways net you 2 pops. One produces 1 food and consumes 2. The other produces 2 and consumes 2. The only testing needed is the testing you need to do is to confirm my statements are true. That double plots dont produce more food then 1 and that double plots consume 2 food, not 1. Strat has already done the testing but I didn't wanted to do it myself before telling others it was true. Takes less then 5 minutes to test.
@@TheOnlyL0nzY Again, definitely the better way to go for carrots and apples as you build back yards with them and need the additional family working on them. For any thing else it's not. It's not easier to build bigger populations if you are talking about any other food type, which you are going to want to make to diversify your food sources. If you try to sustain a bigger population on double plot meats and eggs, your people will starve.
You said chicken coops were kind of useless. I've seen this stated numerous times. But the problem is from what I understand the backyard pigs only produce 2 meat/150 days and goats 1 meat and 1 hide/150 days. Chickens supposedly produce 1 egg every month. A house needs 1 food/month. So doesn't that mean that technically chickens give like 3x as much food easily compared to pigs and about 6x as much as a goat? It just appears that since it's only 1/month and a house uses 1/month that you'll just never see the stock grow really.
nah, there is a perk that doubles meat gain from pigs. Also, pigs can then be converted later into sausages, doubling the yield. So 1 house of pigs = 8 sausage per 5 months I believe
@@TheOnlyL0nzY If that information is correct then I can accept that 1 backyard of pigs would = 16 sausages in 10 months. But that also requires a building for a butcher correct? Versus chickens creating 10 eggs in the same 10 months and not requiring a butcher. So IF how I understand things is correct then chickens are not useless, just maybe not as effective late game but would actually be best early game. Chickens basically make that house not require any food at all while early game the pigs only feed it's own house 2 months out of each 5. This is all theory without some form of hard data to back it. I'm just having a hard time understanding why the dev would make so many changes when so many videos claim chickens are useless. That would be a super easy tweak more than likely to make them produce 2 eggs a month or something if they are as useless as people claim.
I feel that after this latest update, this game needs another beginners guide. I would love to be able to follow along with what your doing, but you tend to go too quickly, and sometimes skip things, which makes it very difficult to follow what your doing.
It would've been a great surprise if the dev's included river flooding - without telling anyone in advance. ;)
I would cry LOL
yes natural disasters
You popped up in my recommended! Never even seen this game and I love it and I’m downloading right now lol. Have a merry Christmas!
Such a great game
You too!
Agreed
Merry Christmas- thank you for the update

I'm aware of the yield. However, its easier to build bigger populations, and carrots can be managed easier 😀

After playing some more, double plots are leagues better

Merry Christmas and thank you for a fantastic video on the new update.
Merry Christmas
A Christmas treat! Really looking forward to this!
Hey, enjoy!
Learning to play through your videos, lol. Game has been on my wishlist for a looooong time!
It will be my fourth playthrough when this goes live. I think I will try the moutain biome. Thanks for showing us this preview branch.
Woooo! Manor lords! Love it! Hope your Christmas and new year are great mate!
🥳🥳🥳
Merry Christmas. Your a real one uploading on Christmas eve
Another one drops in a couple of hours 🫡
I want to see river fishing. Yields might be lower than ponds but could be infinite and year round.
Merry Xmas to the Lord & the New Map!🎄
🥳
will try it later
When you turn a double into an artisan like bakery or weapon smith are they more effective than singles?
yes, I believe so
I love the new map and the changes to the game. Wishing you a very happy Christmas and look forward to your content in 2025 🎉❤
Happy Christmas to you too!
Cheers sir great fun.
Glad you enjoyed it

How do you have those new maps? I checked my game, and it is still just earlyaccessmap for me.
Switch to the beta in steam.
@@DanBryanWrites thanks. It says I need a code for a private beta.
@@DanBryanWrites I found the code veryNiceBasket.
@@BeingJapanshould be on the patch notes
@@BeingJapan yeah as Alex said man. It should be in the patch notes, if not, roll back to the previous beta patch notes and it'll be in there.

I believe sausage also needs salt as well?
Yea, for sure. I haven't actually tried to use eggs recently, but whenever I have, I always run out
Anyone having issues with ox getting stuck while hauling logs?
Not I
I don't know why but i cant have any updates, still in early access, with no mods , non bêta...
There are a few comments with the answers
One flood and town gone lol
Good job it's not in the game LOL
Except rivers and bridge building, few new maps. Nothing is different
The whole way you manage marketplaces is completely different.
@@TheOnlyL0nzY Not worth doing the same shit. the goals are the same and allready done..no new challenge
Bro. "A few new maps" just said casually?
All the building costs have changed too - any strat you had to upgrade your town quickly is no longer valid.

As much as I get this, it's just how I play. I slow it down, it becomes boring for most
Disappointed in high peaks. 4 areas to deal with and not like you can go into the high peaks
Not seen it yet
I live in England and not had the update maybe I will uninstall and slap the piece of crap back on that’s steam for you
It's on the beta branch.
