I was worried you weren't going to get your tubing bender back there for a second or two, LOL. Great to see him started out in the shop at such a young age.
We have sewn a top for the pontoon with grommets and tied it down with rope. Have gotten a lot of good comments about it. The only problem is it is on a very heavy frame to put up and take down every time. I love this video! Give me a good start to re do the top and re do the bass boat top. Thank you very much!
Looks perfect for that boat.. Now you need 2 solid poles to hold it in place at the back rather than straps. then you can make a simple boot top for it. no need to have it flat down.. you made it look very nice, and good choice of colour.. a bimini boot keeps it all nice during winter plus keeps it away from that motor...... you done a great job making that and the poles are nice and strong.... you will get tons of people asking where you got it.. 5 stars for that job
Love the behind the scenes with your mini pontoon giving the look of the boat on the water. I enjoy your content also great job on pipe bending. Not as easy as it looks.
No clue, and I didnt buy it. A place in Norco, CA that does sonic welding of fabrics had it; they actually have piles of material from customers changing their mind mid-run. I was able to get some.
I know this is 3 years later but this is exactly what I am trying to do and I have not been able to locate that aluminum tubing. seriously. If you can see this comment please let me know where I can order it. also can you let me know the size? that thick walled is EXACTLY what I am looking for.. this is amazing. i was thinking of a problem solver thing in the " BACK" by using several straps that would fold under so that the stretch I hear people talking " complaining" about can be taken up. also I see that it would be best for the solid bar construction as the end would flap over and buckle to the other pol bar to be adjustable. like a girdle type apparatus. This is amazing. really. I hope to find those materials soon. Hit me back if you can, I'd really appreciate it. today is 8/19/2022 :0)
This was actually all my local place had. I said I wanted 7/8th aluminum tubing, they said "this is what we can order" Where are you located? If you in California, Arizona, or Nevada - its called Endura Steel but any steel place should be able to source it. It should also be noted that the last order I placed took a month, and cost $40 a stick.
@@BrandonsGarage idaho. yeah those sticks are higher dollar because they are so thick walled. amazing stuff though I bet. I am going to guess they are less likely to break than the standard square tubes. looked like an awesome idea for sure. i will check around and keep my eye out. Thanks MAN!
Thread?? Nice little project. I enjoy most of your videos. I just finished a road worthy custom cover for my Lund with some old canvas tops I had lying around. Turned out so nice that now a few of my friends want them. I have a Bimini Top for same ol' boat. Now I think I'll enclose it by adding canvas down the front, back and sides. Make me a little ......tent! It's really not that difficult. I actually have about the same Brother sewing machine as you. A Walmart cheapo. Nothing special. My question to you is...........what type of thread are you using? Standard cotton thread like I used? I thought about trying nylon but wasn't sure if the "Brother" could handle it. I'm just not confident the cotton will last, mainly due to sun exposure. I don't care what something costs, I just enjoying doing stuff myself, and we can customize them to suit our needs!!!
I was one of those guys saying "you sissy, it's pipe, just bend it", but after seeing the wall thickness I offer my sincerest apologies. That's some serious pipe. Also, I think they usually use pins to hold stuff in place while sewing but I guess super glue works too.
That was a great job! Indeed looks very sturdy and it makes the boat looking really good, congrats!
Nice build Brandon, great to see your little helper hanging out with you in the shop. Priceless time!
Doug@ the "ranch"
Outstanding it works that’s the point

Just saw the pontoon in the video. The top is like ours and i see how they stabilized it. Very helpful as well!
Hearing you guys working in ft and inches blows my mind 😂🇬🇧
The heck it ain't perfect! Outstanding job!
Thanks for the kind words.

I wish they made the Ebay and Amazon biminis like your's. Mine feels like the wind is gonna bend it and forget about the fabric. Great video!!
Great job on doing that looks great 👍
Nice build! I just fixed up an old 1954 5.5 Johnson. Might think into putting a Bimini top on mine as well!
Time to invest in OSHA Approved steel toed sandals!! I was just happy to see you rocking the black socks and sandals!
can you tell me the length of each of brackets thx good job

What type of material is that and where did you get it? Great video!!!
That really is the icing on the cup cake.
For strap holder, you just need to turn around left to right for back frame that all
Hi
What is the cloth called and what website did you buy it ?
Thank you so much for your help
No clue, and I didnt buy it.

I was able to get some.
You did a good job.... lighten up on your self!!! Now enjoy the hell out of it, and run the prop off of it!!! w.w.
You should use blaster to remove rust and repaint both. Harbor freight has the crushed walnut shells fairly cheap.
Great video, I’ve actually been thinking about doing this exact project on my little tinny . That frame is fully legit
you can just do it all cant you? Good job.

@@larryleisuresuit9584 Very strong. In my DIY engine stand video I used the same pipe to hold up an outboard.
Excellent!!
Looks like it will work, cross wind might be a problem?
Not a chance, not with that 3 1/6" wall tubing he used.
Working in slides...nice
Great job for your first time
Very nice job, thumbs up!
You can now use the Bimini top as a lift point for the boat.
Thread??

Any chance for a link for the hardware
Good thinking

Amazon might be better if you are in a hurry: amzn.to/3eRWSRg
What about using snaps instead of sewing your top....
Where did you get the pipe may i ask?
Local place called Endura Steel
Looks really awesome buddy.... you do great work..👍👍
The only thing missing is the fringe dingle balls ! Lol

Most of us boat owners think boat means " Bring on another thousand " for Brandon it means " Bring on another dollar "
Outstanding

Of course it costs less to do it yourself. Just like anything. So I suppose you don't have your own business.
