- Time for a cheap solution to beat the heat in the dog days of summer and to keep the rain at bay. Spent around $75.00 on this fix, but remember...you get what you pay for!

Dude! This is fricking genuis! I was considering a bimini top but it looked like the mounts would be in the way of casting. This is on the list of upgrades for my little fiberglass fishing boat. Mind blown!!
Glad I was able to help out! Wanted something quick and cheap that still did the job and let me fish! Hope you share and subscribe and stay safe!
This is a great idea. The big issue with bimini tops is that they are made to cover the driver area...not the front fishing deck. Now I can deploye the umbrella on the fishing deck so I have cover while my wife and kid sit back under the primary bimini by the drivers area. The entire boat will basically have shade now. Love the seat pole mount...that solves the issue with umbrellas being unstable on the water when it's windy.
Glad you enjoyed the vid. Mounting the umbrella in different locations is a nice option. When I troll, I have in in the drivers area, when I'm anchored I use it on either the front or back deck!
That’s genius!! I was looking at doing this very thing for my own boat. I like that seat adapter for the shade post.
Thanks brother the seat post makes it good and solid!
Just seeing your channel, great idea! Nice job, thanks for taking the time to share this.
Anytime my friend! Cheap way to beat the heat. Hope you subscribed and stay safe!
Great engineering! Functional and easy.
Appreciate that, and with the heat we're experiencing this summer, I'm using it more and more!
I have a 8 foot jon boat and I will try this idea instead of modifying a bimini top to fit. Thank you very much.
AB-Anytime friend. It's a cheap fix to keep the sun n rain off you. Good luck!
I gave a like for that intro alone
Really appreciate that my friend! Stay safe!
I like it and with the heat we are having you need something and to keep the sun off I had a spot takin off my ear two weeks ago it wasn't cancer but the doc said if I wouldn't of had it removed it would have turned in to cancer scary stuff.
TF-Real glad to hear your ok. I always slap on the sunblock and wear a hat for that very reason. Used the sunshade a couple times and it's kept me on the water, where typically I'd come off due to the heat!
Cost effective and creative. Well done!
DSJ-Thanks brother. Looked at a custom bimini top and it was upwards of a $1000! This was the obvious choice!
Genius ! What is the make and model of your boat?
Appreciate that my friend and was looking for a cheap and easy fix! The boat is a Lowe Roughneck 2070 side consol.
Nicely done with the portable T-Top!!
WL-Thanks brother. I'm pretty happy with it!
How did you make the umbrella support base under you seat? Can you buy it somewhere?
HS-No brother its DIY from 3"" & 1 1/2" ABS piping. I did have to use some PVC pipe inside the 3" ABS pipe to make the fit tighter around the seat pedestal
Cool.
One issue...sun isnt always directly over head. I would make a detachable fabric "wall" piece.
J-Good point. Another option is the umbrella with a "tilt" option, but you know the saying...You get what you pay for! Thanks for the comment!
What was it you used to cinch the lines tight?
They were tent guide lines with tensioners that I bought from Canadian Tire: www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/woods-reference-guyline-paracord-ropes-w-tensioner-adjusters-for-tents-tarps-3m-4-pk-0765352p.html?rq=tent+ropes
@@MasterCrowOutdoors Thank you kind sir, no more waiting for the rain to stop🤘🎣
@ThePelagicZones And on the cheap my friend!
Great idea... Thanks for sharing!!!
Your most welcome. Stay safe!
Where did you buy the pedestal seats base I can't find the ones you have
I bought them from Cabela's. I'll check to see if the brand name is on them and get back to you.
Pretty Cool Idea
Appreciate that and still holding up years later!
What is the 3in fitting called having a hard time finding something similar
It is a ABS 3" Hub X 3" Hub X 1 1/2" Hub Tee. Once I joined the two 3" inch hubs together I cut both outer ends off to make it fit to the length of the pedestal.
Love this man.
I know it looks like something out of Deliverance, but man when you're in the shade it's worth it!
Great idea, thank you!
Anytime, glad to help out!
Very nice love the innovation
WPA-She's paying off big time with this heat wave we're having!
Fantastic idea 👍👍👌
Glad you liked it! Hope you share and subscribe!
What type of tent strings did you use?
They are the "Woods Reference Guy Lines". I purchased mine from a local Canadian Tire store.
What brand are your seat pedestals and what length are they?
It's been a while but I believe they are 12" Springfield pedestals. The diameter is 2 3/8"
Ok ill have to look them up
Shady crow good idea 👍👍
BB-Lol. Even a Crow needs shade on occasion! Thanks brother!
how long did it last
Still going strong after 6 years my friend!
@@MasterCrowOutdoors wowzers!may I ask about the brand and size?
@@herb1959 Certainly. I purchased this 7 ft Hampton Bay model from Home Depot.
Nice
This may be hard to believe, but a friend just spent $2000 CAD for a bimini top for his 18 foot Jon boat!
Just Bad@ss love the seat post idea
Thanks brother! Makes the whole set up rock solid. Add a couple tent tie downs and it won't be blown to Oz at the first gust of wind. Hope you subscribed and stay safe!
Very cool! I’m going to go ahead and borrow your idea!👍
Glad I could help out and appreciate the comment!
Genius
You're to kind sir and it was the right fix at the right price!
go amazon or ebay pay $90 get a Bimini, if your going to screw eye bolts into your boat and have lines running down then you can put a bimini top also.
The bimini top is an option, but not a fan of the extra supports to get around on the gunnels compared to a center post.
Well MCO, looks like you have a little MacGyver in you. OSH :-)
OSH-As you can tell from the project...just a little lol!
WHAT ABOUT RAIN?!?
YOU CAN EVEN LAY A TARP OVER THE ROPE IN CASE IT STARTS TO RAIN, YOU CAN MAKE A LITTLE LEAN TO SHELTER!!
AWESOME VIDEO!!
You right, as long as the base is solid you can improvise it to suit your needs and the weather. Glad you enjoyed the vid!
👍🏻
Thanks!
Sweet
03bonneville-Thanks brother...sweet and simple!
Great video! I just sent you a email can you reply?
TCF-Just sent it through brother!
Blocks the Sun Rain & Your casting that's what i call the trifecta
Time to prioritize!
Great idea!
Scott-Tried the golf umbrella's and they lasted until the first puff of wind. Was time to go a little heavier!
@@MasterCrowOutdoors your boat is big enough, I want to see you install a popup tent on there. I have one I will donate to the cause!
Seriously this actually looks quite good as well as compact for storage and easy to setup. As well as quite functional. Nicely done!
The heavy canvas material you have there is the way to go. Also the vent in the middle of the parasol helps with reducing the effect of gusts of wind. Brilliant.
Scott-Yup, no sense in re-inventing the wheel. Only issue I had to solve was the bracket to put it in and the tie downs.
Scott-Your right on point. I've used it a couple times already and it's quick to set up and take down and very compact. I was also pleasantly surprised with the look. One last thing, I'll pass on the tent, but any chance you got a spare La-Z-Boy! lol
Nice
Thanks!
