Been to shakori idk how many times as a kid, teen and adult. Brought so many friends out here and "changed their lives". The one thing I realized as an adult you had to have to be here was money. Friends I brought were great, but had money. Hundreds who could not come out bc of money. It's not a big deal, I absolutely do not think this fest should be free but one thing that has struck me is no longer allowing outside alcohol. Especially under the "Guise" of COVID regulations. Im straight edge personally but IDC what anyone else does. It's just really hard to get new friends out when you tell them GA is X per day, if they don't want to sleep in my tent then camping is X, it's X to park and btw if you drink don't bring your own beer it's not allowed, just wait in line and buy the likely overpriced beer that you don't even like. How can I tell my friends beer used to be allowed in but since COVID you can't bring it in anymore. Cos standing in a line with a bunch of other people, getting close to 1-2 tenders for your beer, multiple times during The weekend is much safer than walking alone back to your camp and grabbing a beer you and you alone brought. I love shakori and the vibe hasn't changed once your there. It's just trying to get new friends out that's so hard considering nowhere else checks you like shakori has started to do.
About to have our first trip here this week ❤
