I HATED Isabelle's death. Not including Carol, she was literally one of the leads of the show, yet she gets stabbed and killed within like 15 minutes of a 50 minute episode, midway through the season, like she's the most expendable plot device.
Yeah, she was the worst choice for character to kill off, she was the only one most people liked. While I appreciate having the balls to kill off characters in shocking ways, something TWD was really lacking in later seasons, and it was emotional and sorta served a purpose in the story, it still felt like a massive waste, she barely did anything this season!
My biggest problem with TWD and its spinoffs is just how INSANE the plot armor became. People used to like it because main characters would actually die off, now they're superheroes and can't be killed. Literally removes all tension of the Walkers and basically everyone else. I liked Negan so much because he came in and killed off two beloved characters, but unfortunately by that point, the writers couldn't figure out how to write good characters anymore so the beloved ones we lost got replaced by characters no one even cared about.

As someone who has watched Walking Dead for years it really is going downhill. The ratings are bad and Dan’s Reviews has pointed out how it could affect the universe ending. At this point all I want is for all the spinoffs and shows to merge for one final battle.
Completely agree dude! It’s important to not keep tolerating absolute trash tv, and writing. Otherwise the audience is training the writers and producers of these shows to work less and less on quality story telling and focus more on churning out this piffle.
Their decision to kill Isabelle was so terrible. They already established in season 1 that Daryl and Isabelle were direct mirrors of each other, especially in the “broken till’ the world ended” scene in season 1. Not only that, but they literally established her entire backstory and why she was important. In season 2, they give her a (decent) death scene, but the way they execute it is so poorly. They basically threw away everything that they built on that specific character and now she’s gone and we’ll probably never get another mention about her or of her. Also, people have got to STOP meat-riding Carol. Carol is such an overrated character now (can’t believe I’m even saying this). First of all, she has plot armor, second, the fact that she even finds Daryl before S2E4 is insane to me, third of all, when she finds Codron, a half-dead man who was tortured almost to DEATH (had his fingers taken off, etc.) almost INSTANTLY gives up Daryl’s location, why? “Because he owes Laurent” (he could’ve put Laurent’s location in danger, even if she’s American). Also, the reason why they will not acknowledge the World Beyond post credit scene (in the French BioMedical lab) is beyond my understanding, we’ve still had no mention of Violet or Primrose. I mean come on… they literally have two locations where Violet and Primrose may be (France and Ohio) so why aren’t they acknowledging it?! What’s also beyond my understanding is why they won’t explain what they’re doing to the walkers, (what are they “amped” up on?!). And don’t even get me started on how they took Losang (a decent character in Daryl Dixon season 1) and change him into a horrendous villain, and completely DESTROYED the nest. Don’t get me started on the fact that the enemies get soloed by Daryl until the plot kicks in and Daryl gets defeated (like in the last episode when Daryl was literally turning into John Wick and then got cornered on a staircase) same with Carol, she has insane plot armor and is untouchable. It’s almost like every character seems incompetent and unreliable and weak until the plot directs them to be strong and independent. I also can’t believe the talk Carol and Daryl had, and how Carol said “A feeling came back”, that’s an insane, horrible way to address that. They could’ve built up so much hype, and could’ve connected everything back together again so well if they would’ve acknowledged the fact that Rick has finally returned, they EVEN mention Judith in the episode, but no, I guess not (the timeline is so messed up now so who knows). She could’ve even mentioned Morgan, or Dwight, because Morgan is searching for Rick as well and Dwight came back to the sanctuary to rebuild, it’s literally not that far fetched at all and could’ve connected those characters back into the universe as well, but nope, they had to address that she was explaining her “feelings” over the radio (which makes no sense). Honestly, if they wanted to do multiple seasons in France, they could’ve done that, they didn’t need to wrap up all of the French stuff so quickly to only move on to Spain, ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. It’s just so unrealistic. Everything they did to approach this season, the writing, plot, empowerment and justification of characters, scenarios, and the resolution (which I will not spoil) is absolute garbage.

Issabelle gets stabbed very cringely passes out stands up walks 50 meters lies down says to daryl she loves him and dies... why have we even bothered watching season 1??? they were going somewhere with her story, and daryl liked her but no we need to make room for carol. the main characters are terminators with plot armor. and all the side characters are used like trash and killed off as soon as they served their plot. villains go psychotic within 1 episode and dies the next. oh and if killing madame genet wasnt enough they also kill the cult leader too, that plot EXPLODED quickly? it is just such a shame because the visuals and acting was very good. its just that they hired FTWD writing again? Carol is awesome but for her to come in EXACLY when issabelle goes OUT is just distasteful and makes carol a bit of a party pooper. also feels like the writers are butchering carol lately and idk why but shes kind of a shell of what she once was. why should we bother season 3 them going to spain? cuz everyone they'll meet will get killed off and they will still be terminators either way. there was a lot of potential in this season but they butchered it with BAD convenient writing.

The minute Isabelle said "i love you" last episode i literally yelled out f**k at the top of my lungs. Daryl's love interests NEVER work out. Isabelle was my favourite walking dead character since the governor. She had so much layered complexity to her and now she's gone. Ffs!!
I get Daryl is like Jon Wick, I can totally but him wasting 20 guys without taking a hit, but Carol... I'm sorry but no matter how many times they keep pushing it, she's not a warrior! Yes she can kill, yes she can shoot a gun, yes she can set off a firework that blows up a gas tank, but she is not a superhero. I'm kind of just wondering why go to the trouble of having Daryl and Isobel kiss just for this to happen 2 episodes later. Even if it weren't romantic, it was clear they cared for and respected each other. Just feels like a move to have a buzz worthy moment and to torture Daryl even more.
This happens all the time in tv and movies, it’s done to heighten the emotional connection between characters in the mind of the viewer. This then enhances the gut punch to come later.
We all knew deep down it wasn’t gonna be Rick that she was saying came back, but “a feeling”?! It literally could have been any character and it would’ve been semi acceptable. That was complete trash.
I liked Isabelle, why could her character not be carried through??? Why are we only going to have the two main characters go on from season to seaon now? Ilso it seems like like minute Carol turns up Isabrlle is surplus to requirements. It makes me so angry when I get invested in a character that could continue to contribute to the overall progression of a show only for them to be killed off. I like how Isabelle gets stabbed and died within a short amount of time while Rick was impaled and by a stick of rebar and was able to walk pretty far, practically blow himself up, then be perfectly fine later
If there will be a Clementine spinoff I really don’t think it’s going to be the same as we know it cause the Clementine we play as is (idk if this counts as spoiler or not?) but she’s comic canon so even if we do get a Clementine TWD show with Lee Kenny all them they’re so not going to be the same characters at all

I watched a day late. HoLY shit!!!!! I'm so mad they killed off Isabelle but to make it worse it was a terrible death. The kind of death you give to a C tier character. THEN THEY KILLED OF GENET!!!!! The main villain of the series!! So the France story line is over? Just get Laurent and go home?? Then why is there a season 3?? Besides what I've mentioned and the unbelievable Carol scene in the beginning you mentioned there were a few really good parts of this episode but they get overshadowed by all the ridiculous decisions in the story
We just shouldn’t be fooled by Gimple ploys going forward. He clearly has zero intent on providing any connective tissue between these shows. The plan is just to milk the fandom’s decade plus investment in these 6 A-list characters as long as possible, by any means.
The fact they literally wrapped up everything in France and killed off most of the characters just makes the last 2 seasons a complete waste of time because now it just feels like that was all a place setting until Carol came onto the show. They managed to build this whole new world for Daryl to be a part of, all these new relationships, dynamics and storylines, and literally as soon as Carol reunites with him it's just like this stack of dominoes falling, kinda like when Michonne reunited with Rick but a bit longer. Im so fucking pissed we didnt get any explanation about the super walkers, any tie ins and connections to bigger things we know about, all of that and the whole concept of variant walkers seems to be done now with no large scale or long term consequences, it was supposed to be the future of the franchise but it was just something for this show and was barely even utilised or explored to it's full potential, it was more of a gimmick for a few action scenes. Everything is about this show and the story is goofy and messy, and now it's just about Daryl and Carol's adventure which is really what this show was supposed to be in the first place, why couldnt Melissa just be in season 1??
Last week, you had me prepared for the worst, and it helped me enjoy the episode more. Good god, this episode was horrific. No preparation could've helped Also, not actually the episodes fault, but the site i used to watch the episode didn't have subtitles, so i missed a fair bit, haha. I love and not loved this episode. It felt like we dropped characters too fast. What bugged me is that after Isabelle dies. Daryl goes on like nothing happened. Isabelle shouldn't have died. At least not in this episode. Sylvie gets killed off too fast, too. Kinda feels like there dropping this characters since Daryl is going to spain next season. Also not to mentiok the villain gets killed too fast too
Even if it wasn’t Rick who came back, it could have been Dwight since in the finale of fear he and sherry were thinking on going back to the sanctuary and Daryl warned him not to come back or he would kill him. I mean it would make more sense as carol was hesitant on telling who came back on the radio, but Scott f** gimple wants to postpone the reunion with Rick as long as he can to milk this franchise. I really hope that Robert kirkman can one day buy back the rights from amc and put this universe to rest once and for all.
You hit the nail on the head. They have these big grandiose storylines but they just don't know what to do with them, the writers just aren't talented enough, they build it up but the resolution is always rushed and unsatisfying and it always feels like wasted potential

One thing i noticed in this episode , its the kinda hint?? Of them kinda wanting to tease a possible romance between Daryl and Carol going on?? Maybe i just read it wrong, and i hope i did. But the old lady kept saying how she could see "Isabelle's love flowing through her eyes" n shit like that. And now im PRAYING to god they just didnt kill Isabelle to just "fix" the problem here. Speaking of wich , i was pleasantly surprised that they didnt kill Isabelle in the last season cause i could feel her deathflags all over the place, and i was also really happy that her and Daryl didnt end up together last season too!! Just for the show to hit me in the head with not only them killing Isa but also making her a romance for 2 eps and THEN kill her off. Just to piss everyone and make Daryl go through it AGAIN out of nowhere. Like with that other girl in the main show i forgot the name of. Where did those times go in wich Norman just didnt wanted Daryl to get a romance storyline? Im so pissed in general at this season but AT LEAST this was the episode i disliked the most so ,from now on im praying it should be smooth sailing!! Fantastic review , i LOVED the angry rant about everything. And definately agreed about how COOL Genet's death was, a bit torn about it cause she was def the main villain!
My favourite part of this show is how genet kills everyone until she reaches carol or daryl. Once she reaches them - then it's a monologue. And then ofc she gets jumped by someone. I do not get why genet even goes into the field. She has no combat ability. She is there purely for the plot lol. So that she can monologue once every blue moon. This is the second coming of the CRM lol. I need TWD executives to end the universe point blank. We need like 3 episodes across the entire universe to just tie everything up in whatever way possible. Doesn't even matter if it's good. I just need to know that it's all over. I didn't even know that it was possible to fuck up twd more than towl. But apparently it is lol. JUST LET IT END
I loved how Daryl asked Carol why she never went and saw the world like he has no idea what her life was like before the apocalypse. Like their friendship built on trauma and heartache was basically not there
As somebody who knows of only some of the leaks for this season but also some of the public info about season 3, it honestly feels like this show is pulling a Fear S3. Knowing that things will change so much next season (in Fear’s case it was Erickson being replaced and the show being rebooted, and in this show’s case its the main location changing), it feels like the show is trying wrap up anything and everything in one spot to make room for a “fresh start”…even if they includes taking out perfectly good characters that would’ve been nice to see continue on 😅
I liked this episode. 😂 I see all the plot holes. 😂but I love Carol so much that I can’t help but be okay with her plot armor. And honestly it was less believable that they succeeded in killing all those men and women so quickly without missing more than just Carol. Plus those injections, the needle didn’t go through Carol’s jacket It seemed like more of the people should have been missed. Carol surviving that was more believable than the fact that nobody else did.
This season has so many great moments and so many awful moments I’m so 50/50 on this season but man I would be lying if I didn’t say I’ve been having fun with it. The effects and gore this season are really great aswell

The end of 106 of the ones who live was too rushed. The CRM revolution happened after Rick and Michonne got captured and questioned and the CRM council investigated operation N1W(the planned destruction of Portland). There's about 2-3 weeks skipped between the explosion at the CRM and Rick and Michonne going home. Carol left during that time. She missed Rick by a slight amount of time. If they didn't rush the end of the ones who live finale and we got to see more of the revolution then it'd be more public information and make sense. I said it before and I'll say it again, the ones who live should have been 10 episodes and the Fall of the CRM and the revolution after the explosion deserves a whole episode
Very well said. Still think they shouldn’t have wiped out CRM that easily but 10 episodes would have surely been better than 6. WILD how they teased at hidden CRM spies in every community. So much potential there to tie all shows together and have it be a huge battle against CRM. Spies at the commonwealth, Portland, all over. and also they surely will abandon what Beale said about “projected 14 years left for humanity at the current rate” all just stuff for fans to get excited about and never actually see have any pay off. Season One felt like it wanted to slowly build a story like early twd. Twd at it's best was required viewing. But just like twd, Book of Landfill is something you leave on whilst cooking, wiring a plug, taking a sh*t. Another channel was frothing over Dead City. I'm like "meh". *I'm treading water till All of Us are Dead S02 arrives.
Dead city genuinely isn’t good idk why people are interested. Maybe if it had good writing but I stopped caring about Maggie and Negan like 8 years ago. Only watched to see their take on NYC post apocalypse. Also the year that it’s set in like 2029 apparently just completely throws a wrench into any potential connection to other shows
Perhaps, a feeling was her line at the moment because she seen how Daryl was stressed and worried. It's possible that later in the season Daryl is in a better emotional place that she feels like he's emotionally stable enough to hear the truth.

Once someone pointed out how everyone else has survived in the exact same apocalypse as the main cast, I can’t not think of this when watching Daryl and friends wipe out guards like they’re assassins creed. Like sure, you can argue that Rick, Daryl, Carol, etc have lived in the apocalypse and are now skilled fighters, but like SO IS EVERYBODY ELSE. I had the same problem with ones who live :|
1) The 'who came back' reveal ughhh, I screamed 'what was that?!!!' .... 2)Immortal Carol was laughable ..and 3) them finding people ( the old couple), then one betraying them is really rinse and repeat, what's new? ... I did like the reunion between Daryl and Carol, though.

Remember, and this is important, TWD was a comic book adaptation and therefore it operates in a heightened larger than life environment. It’s in its DNA like it or not. Btw, as an amusing aside, last week’s episode got a 7.8/10 rating on IMDB. I guess hundreds of people didn’t think it was hot garbage.

The issue isn't that Isabelle died but how she died. Daryl was already over her death in the very next scene. He wasn't even sad. It's almost like once Carol and Daryl reunited, Isabelle had to go. That old guy who betrayed them even got them to spend time burying that old lady. No goodbye for poor Isabelle. This is a prime example of how a 6 episode season is killing these spinoffs. In defense of the show, the showrunner recently did an interview and took a subtle shot at AMC. He basically said we would not have written it this way if we had more episodes to work with. It's all too rushed. And there better be more than a "feeling" about "who came back." Hoping Carol is just waiting until Daryl has had time to gather his thoughts before she shares that Rick's back.

I saw this episode a few days ago and I've been waiting for your inevitable rant! I agree with you on all the stupid points. There was no reason for Isabelle to die, the "it came back" reveal WAS absolute BS, and the old man helping them only to rat them out? All very stupid. I did enjoy Genet's death. I even found myself shouting at the TV "neener neener neener, that's what you GET!" LOL But honestly, my favorite thing, apart from Daryl and Carol's reunion, was the cameo appearance of my favorite car - the Citroen DS. They couldn't film a show in France and not include that iconic car. Thanks for your take!
thought I was the only one, after Isabelle's death I just said why, my interest faded then they killed off Genet so I was wondering who the main villain was gonna be. The guard walking to the guy and telling Genet is dead and you cant lead either but still makes him the leader makes no sense I think I'm done with this show
So one guy snitched on Carol in previous episode to Genet and obviously told her everything, but Carol uh...... for some reason...continues to lie and was genuinely surprised when Genet revealed that she always knew her connection to Daryl. WTF actually was that??? I thought i'm being stupid and missed something, but nope, it was Carol acting stupid for plot.
ive tempered my expectations. ive not seen the spoilers or the advanced episodes. im watching them on sundays via AMC+. just watched episode 4. i find myself watching this show now and comparing it to the other spinoffs specifically TWOL. i may be alone here, but i wouldnt have been bothered if they would have dragged out TWOL like they are dragging out French Dead. if im being honest, ive forgotten most all of anything that happened on Dead City (its just that bad). yes, this season of French Dead is FEAR bad, but it is still Carol & Daryl so i get the feels just from watching. i know im not alone is saying that TWD has meant a lot to me over the years.
I agree with you, they truncated TWOL and it just ruined it. There needed to be more background on CRM, there needed to be a much better, not such a rushed reunion, that they basically drove it into a wall @ 100mph. It was hard to even be excited for the reunuion the way they just dropped it in our laps. Dead City was absolutely horrible, had nothing to do with the actors, the writing was absolute crap. But since DD1 and TWOL1 aired, I think they realized they failed with DC1, but hang in there, from what I've seen DC2, which comes out next Spring is looking like possible fire! I have high hopes anyway, lol, they could be dashed easily. Adding Kim Coates to the cast really has my interest piqued, but again, Gimple killed off Glenn and Carl, so he's been known to ruin great things before. And yes, in the same episode they give us the best and worst of the whole season so far. Yes, I'm a Daryl/Carol fan, the reunion I've been waiting for, but the episode went south after that. And, no, you're not alone, TWD means/has meant alot to me also, its hard not to when they're like family, showing up for dinner every Sunday for 14 yrs. ❤

This episode ruined my hype for the last 2 episodes and season 3, Isabelle’s death was so stupid, a complete waste of a great character, and it didn’t even seem like Daryl cared that much about her dying, he moved on way too quick, also I love Carol, she’s my favorite walking dead character but man the plot armor on her is too much, it’s like she’s a super hero with how easily she escaped death in this episode alone, Superman who? But yeah, I’m disappointed since I was liking this show until Isabelle’s death, that ruined it for me, I’m still gonna be hopeful that the last 2 episodes will be better and maybe season 3 but my hype is pretty gone 😕
This show was just destroyed in 1 episode.. killing off Isabelle was a f*cking awful decision... She was one of the first newer TWD characters in a while who was actually interesting, just thrown away to go back to the same old Carol / Daryl stuff. Also, the main storyline with Laurent is just the dumbest thing ever. Genet also died way too soon. Loved her as a villain, though her death was pretty cool
It's a bit unfair that Rick gets a happy ending but Daryl doesn't, he had very good chemistry with Isabelle, the only woman he had better chem with was Connie, he deserved to have a happy ending with her, besides that, it was a decent episode, Genet's death was satisfying, and also a huge letdown on who cameback, should've said it was Rick, smh, roughly a 7/10 episode for me, could've been a 9/10 easily.

This entire story they built up from Season 1 was for nothing. What was the point of all this? Walking Dead is back to wasting my damn time again. This show died with Isabelle and just turned into the original show or even Fear. Everything that made this show unique died in Episode 4. .Twd is stuck in a cycle of having stories and plots go absolutely no where. Negan and Dead City is all there is left in TWD I guess now. He's been carrying this entire franchise on his back since 2016 so I guess he will have to continue to do so cause I have ZERO hype or interest in S3 of this show. I don't understand the point of this story anymore and also Genet and her army of walkers was such an anti climatic plot. Gave us all that backstory just for to die and be forgotten about the next episode. GREAT VILLAIN LOL. I HATED Isabelle's death. Not including Carol, she was literally one of the leads of the show, yet she gets stabbed and killed within like 15 minutes of a 50 minute episode, midway through the season, like she's the most expendable plot device.

Yeah, she was the worst choice for character to kill off, she was the only one most people liked. While I appreciate having the balls to kill off characters in shocking ways, something TWD was really lacking in later seasons, and it was emotional and sorta served a purpose in the story, it still felt like a massive waste, she barely did anything this season!
All I read for years about TWD was people bitching about them not killing off main cast members. So here we are folks.
Btw the other thing you see people bitching about is Daryl getting a love interest and it’s betrayal of Caryl. They got what they wanted too.
My biggest problem with TWD and its spinoffs is just how INSANE the plot armor became. People used to like it because main characters would actually die off, now they're superheroes and can't be killed. Literally removes all tension of the Walkers and basically everyone else. I liked Negan so much because he came in and killed off two beloved characters, but unfortunately by that point, the writers couldn't figure out how to write good characters anymore so the beloved ones we lost got replaced by characters no one even cared about.
with the main characters not dying there is no room to explore ANY new characters cuz they WILL be killed off as soon as they served their plot time.

Their decision to kill Isabelle was so terrible. They already established in season 1 that Daryl and Isabelle were direct mirrors of each other, especially in the “broken till’ the world ended” scene in season 1. Not only that, but they literally established her entire backstory and why she was important.
In season 2, they give her a (decent) death scene, but the way they execute it is so poorly. They basically threw away everything that they built on that specific character and now she’s gone and we’ll probably never get another mention about her or of her.
Also, people have got to STOP meat-riding Carol. Carol is such an overrated character now (can’t believe I’m even saying this). First of all, she has plot armor, second, the fact that she even finds Daryl before S2E4 is insane to me, third of all, when she finds Codron, a half-dead man who was tortured almost to DEATH (had his fingers taken off, etc.) almost INSTANTLY gives up Daryl’s location, why? “Because he owes Laurent” (he could’ve put Laurent’s location in danger, even if she’s American).
Also, the reason why they will not acknowledge the World Beyond post credit scene (in the French BioMedical lab) is beyond my understanding, we’ve still had no mention of Violet or Primrose. I mean come on… they literally have two locations where Violet and Primrose may be (France and Ohio) so why aren’t they acknowledging it?!
What’s also beyond my understanding is why they won’t explain what they’re doing to the walkers, (what are they “amped” up on?!).
And don’t even get me started on how they took Losang (a decent character in Daryl Dixon season 1) and change him into a horrendous villain, and completely DESTROYED the nest.
Don’t get me started on the fact that the enemies get soloed by Daryl until the plot kicks in and Daryl gets defeated (like in the last episode when Daryl was literally turning into John Wick and then got cornered on a staircase) same with Carol, she has insane plot armor and is untouchable.
It’s almost like every character seems incompetent and unreliable and weak until the plot directs them to be strong and independent.
I also can’t believe the talk Carol and Daryl had, and how Carol said “A feeling came back”, that’s an insane, horrible way to address that. They could’ve built up so much hype, and could’ve connected everything back together again so well if they would’ve acknowledged the fact that Rick has finally returned, they EVEN mention Judith in the episode, but no, I guess not (the timeline is so messed up now so who knows).
She could’ve even mentioned Morgan, or Dwight, because Morgan is searching for Rick as well and Dwight came back to the sanctuary to rebuild, it’s literally not that far fetched at all and could’ve connected those characters back into the universe as well, but nope, they had to address that she was explaining her “feelings” over the radio (which makes no sense).
Honestly, if they wanted to do multiple seasons in France, they could’ve done that, they didn’t need to wrap up all of the French stuff so quickly to only move on to Spain, ABSOLUTELY ridiculous.
It’s just so unrealistic. Everything they did to approach this season, the writing, plot, empowerment and justification of characters, scenarios, and the resolution (which I will not spoil) is absolute garbage.

Carol is awesome but for her to come in EXACLY when issabelle goes OUT is just distasteful and makes carol a bit of a party pooper. also feels like the writers are butchering carol lately and idk why but shes kind of a shell of what she once was. why should we bother season 3 them going to spain? cuz everyone they'll meet will get killed off and they will still be terminators either way. there was a lot of potential in this season but they butchered it with BAD convenient writing.

I'm kind of just wondering why go to the trouble of having Daryl and Isobel kiss just for this to happen 2 episodes later. Even if it weren't romantic, it was clear they cared for and respected each other. Just feels like a move to have a buzz worthy moment and to torture Daryl even more.
This happens all the time in tv and movies, it’s done to heighten the emotional connection between characters in the mind of the viewer. This then enhances the gut punch to come later.

I liked Isabelle, why could her character not be carried through??? Why are we only going to have the two main characters go on from season to seaon now? Ilso it seems like like minute Carol turns up Isabrlle is surplus to requirements. It makes me so angry when I get invested in a character that could continue to contribute to the overall progression of a show only for them to be killed off. I sometimes wonder what goes through the writers heads at time and as for the infinite amount of plot armour in some scenes, well it makes them hard to watch.

I watched a day late. HoLY shit!!!!! I'm so mad they killed off Isabelle but to make it worse it was a terrible death. The kind of death you give to a C tier character. THEN THEY KILLED OF GENET!!!!! The main villain of the series!! So the France story line is over? Just get Laurent and go home?? Then why is there a season 3?? Besides what I've mentioned and the unbelievable Carol scene in the beginning you mentioned there were a few really good parts of this episode but they get overshadowed by all the ridiculous decisions in the story
We just shouldn’t be fooled by Gimple ploys going forward. He clearly has zero intent on providing any connective tissue between these shows. The plan is just to milk the fandom’s decade plus investment in these 6 A-list characters as long as possible, by any means.
The fact they literally wrapped up everything in France and killed off most of the characters just makes the last 2 seasons a complete waste of time because now it just feels like that was all a place setting until Carol came onto the show. They managed to build this whole new world for Daryl to be a part of, all these new relationships, dynamics and storylines, and literally as soon as Carol reunites with him it's just like this stack of dominoes falling, kinda like when Michonne reunited with Rick but a bit longer. Im so fucking pissed we didnt get any explanation about the super walkers, any tie ins and connections to bigger things we know about, all of that and the whole concept of variant walkers seems to be done now with no large scale or long term consequences, it was supposed to be the future of the franchise but it was just something for this show and was barely even utilised or explored to it's full potential, it was more of a gimmick for a few action scenes. Everything is about this show and the story is goofy and messy, and now it's just about Daryl and Carol's adventure which is really what this show was supposed to be in the first place, why couldnt Melissa just be in season 1??

At least not in this episode. Sylvie gets killed off too fast, too. Kinda feels like there dropping this characters since Daryl is going to spain next season. Also not to mentiok the villain gets killed too fast too
Even if it wasn’t Rick who came back, it could have been Dwight since in the finale of fear he and sherry were thinking on going back to the sanctuary and Daryl warned him not to come back or he would kill him. I mean it would make more sense as carol was hesitant on telling who came back on the radio, but Scott f** gimple wants to postpone the reunion with Rick as long as he can to milk this franchise. I really hope that Robert kirkman can one day buy back the rights from amc and put this universe to rest once and for all.

I loved how Daryl asked Carol why she never went and saw the world like he has no idea what her life was like before the apocalypse. Like their friendship built on trauma and heartache was basically not there
As somebody who knows of only some of the leaks for this season but also some of the public info about season 3, it honestly feels like this show is pulling a Fear S3.
Knowing that things will change so much next season (in Fear’s case it was Erickson being replaced and the show being rebooted, and in this show’s case its the main location changing), it feels like the show is trying wrap up anything and everything in one spot to make room for a “fresh start”…even if they includes taking out perfectly good characters that would’ve been nice to see continue on 😅
I liked this episode. 😂 I see all the plot holes. 😂but I love Carol so much that I can’t help but be okay with her plot armor.
And honestly it was less believable that they succeeded in killing all those men and women so quickly without missing more than just Carol. Plus those injections, the needle didn’t go through Carol’s jacket It seemed like more of the people should have been missed. Carol surviving that was more believable than the fact that nobody else did.
This season has so many great moments and so many awful moments I’m so 50/50 on this season but man I would be lying if I didn’t say I’ve been having fun with it. The effects and gore this season are really great aswell

The end of 106 of the ones who live was too rushed. The CRM revolution happened after Rick and Michonne got captured and questioned and the CRM council investigated operation N1W(the planned destruction of Portland). There's about 2-3 weeks skipped between the explosion at the CRM and Rick and Michonne going home. Carol left during that time. She missed Rick by a slight amount of time. If they didn't rush the end of the ones who live finale and we got to see more of the revolution then it'd be more public information and make sense. I said it before and I'll say it again, the ones who live should have been 10 episodes and the Fall of the CRM and the revolution after the explosion deserves a whole episode

So much potential there to tie all shows together and have it be a huge battle against CRM. Dead city genuinely isn’t good idk why people are interested. Maybe if it had good writing but I stopped caring about Maggie and Negan like 8 years ago. Only watched to see their take on NYC post apocalypse. Also the year that it’s set in like 2029 apparently just completely throws a wrench into any potential connection to other shows
Perhaps, a feeling was her line at the moment because she seen how Daryl was stressed and worried. It's possible that later in the season Daryl is in a better emotional place that she feels like he's emotionally stable enough to hear the truth.

I legit wish Melissa McBride would've stayed on her acting break. I knew as soon as it was announced she'd be in season 2 that Isabelle would be killed. This is terrible decision making all around.

You just watched the beginning of the end of this show. By killing Isabelle, they destroyed this show. They never should have brought Mary Sue Carol onto this show, as they never would have killed off Isabelle otherwise.

Once someone pointed out how everyone else has survived in the exact same apocalypse as the main cast, I can’t not think of this when watching Daryl and friends wipe out guards like they’re assassins creed. Like sure, you can argue that Rick, Daryl, Carol, etc have lived in the apocalypse and are now skilled fighters, but like SO IS EVERYBODY ELSE. I had the same problem with ones who live :|

The issue isn't that Isabelle died but how she died. Daryl was already over her death in the very next scene. He wasn't even sad. It's almost like once Carol and Daryl reunited, Isabelle had to go. That old guy who betrayed them even got them to spend time burying that old lady. No goodbye for poor Isabelle. This is a prime example of how a 6 episode season is killing these spinoffs. In defense of the show, the showrunner recently did an interview and took a subtle shot at AMC. He basically said we would not have written it this way if we had more episodes to work with. It's all too rushed. And there better be more than a "feeling" about "who came back." Hoping Carol is just waiting until Daryl has had time to gather his thoughts before she shares that Rick's back.

You're more generous than me, I can't find much of anything positive about this season. The plot armour on Carol is so ridulous that I no longer care what happens to her. I like Daryl's storyline somewhat but its still meh. I just hope season 3 is better and this makes me want TOWL for a season 2 more than ever!
I saw this episode a few days ago and I've been waiting for your inevitable rant! I agree with you on all the stupid points. There was no reason for Isabelle to die, the "it came back" reveal WAS absolute BS, and the old man helping them only to rat them out? All very stupid. I did enjoy Genet's death. I even found myself shouting at the TV "neener neener neener, that's what you GET!" LOL But honestly, my favorite thing, apart from Daryl and Carol's reunion, was the cameo appearance of my favorite car - the Citroen DS. They couldn't film a show in France and not include that iconic car. Thanks for your take!

thought I was the only one, after Isabelle's death I just said why, my interest faded then they killed off Genet so I was wondering who the main villain was gonna be. The guard walking to the guy and telling Genet is dead and you cant lead either but still makes him the leader makes no sense I think I'm done with this show
So one guy snitched on Carol in previous episode to Genet and obviously told her everything, but Carol uh...... for some reason...continues to lie and was genuinely surprised when Genet revealed that she always knew her connection to Daryl.

yes, this season of French Dead is FEAR bad, but it is still Carol & Daryl so i get the feels just from watching. i know im not alone is saying that TWD has meant a lot to me over the years.
I agree with you, they truncated TWOL and it just ruined it. There needed to be more background on CRM, there needed to be a much better, not such a rushed reunion, that they basically drove it into a wall @ 100mph. It was hard to even be excited for the reunuion the way they just dropped it in our laps.
Dead City was absolutely horrible, had nothing to do with the actors, the writing was absolute crap. But since DD1 and TWOL1 aired, I think they realized they failed with DC1, but hang in there, from what I've seen DC2, which comes out next Spring is looking like possible fire! I have high hopes anyway, lol, they could be dashed easily. Adding Kim Coates to the cast really has my interest piqued, but again, Gimple killed off Glenn and Carl, so he's been known to ruin great things before.
And yes, in the same episode they give us the best and worst of the whole season so far. Yes, I'm a Daryl/Carol fan, the reunion I've been waiting for, but the episode went south after that. And, no, you're not alone, TWD means/has meant alot to me also, its hard not to when they're like family, showing up for dinner every Sunday for 14 yrs. ❤

This episode ruined my hype for the last 2 episodes and season 3, Isabelle’s death was so stupid, a complete waste of a great character, and it didn’t even seem like Daryl cared that much about her dying, he moved on way too quick, also I love Carol, she’s my favorite walking dead character but man the plot armor on her is too much, it’s like she’s a super hero with how easily she escaped death in this episode alone, Superman who? But yeah, I’m disappointed since I was liking this show until Isabelle’s death, that ruined it for me, I’m still gonna be hopeful that the last 2 episodes will be better and maybe season 3 but my hype is pretty gone 😕
This show was just destroyed in 1 episode.. killing off Isabelle was a f*cking awful decision... She was one of the first newer TWD characters in a while who was actually interesting, just thrown away to go back to the same old Carol / Daryl stuff. Also, the main storyline with Laurent is just the dumbest thing ever.
Genet also died way too soon. Loved her as a villain, though her death was pretty cool
It's a bit unfair that Rick gets a happy ending but Daryl doesn't, he had very good chemistry with Isabelle, the only woman he had better chem with was Connie, he deserved to have a happy ending with her, besides that, it was a decent episode, Genet's death was satisfying, and also a huge letdown on who cameback, should've said it was Rick, smh, roughly a 7/10 episode for me, could've been a 9/10 easily.

Dude... you're missing key elements.. No. 1 Carol has always been able to use people bodies to shield herself. 2. Carol is holding back not to throw too much at Daryl. Be patient she's going to tell. 3. The Villan explains herself to Carol.. ALL villains have always explained how that got that way .. The Governor.. Negan.. that woman wore dead people faces. Be patient all the pieces coming together.
