I do recall and this was some years ago, in April 2019, that AM did an Investigatory video called Q&A on Retained Placentas and infant mortality rate. AM read a paper on this subject and basically his video, simplified it for us viewers to understand it better. It was based on field studies over a 5 to 10 year period, of three groups of monkeys: Baboons, Macaques and Rhesus monkeys; the paper was peer reviewed and is viewable on the internet. In a nutshell, 20% of babies die in the first 6 months from accidents, malnutrition, or an infection. This increases to 32% after 6 months as the babies get more independent from their mothers. Fatal falls and road kill are high on the list. Indeed, I do recall that AM did some analysis on the numbers of babies lost in the troops he followed at that time.
Hello Monkey Hill Family 😍 Hope all is well with everyone. Monday is Veterans Day. To any Veterans in our family. Thank you for your service and God Bless.
It makes sense if they are travelling to areas with higher populations of predators like hawks or snakes. I still think Scooby was killed by a predator or simply hit by a car. Some theorized his constant cries made an adult male retaliate, but none of the troops of Monkey Hill have any known history of infanticide or violence toward juveniles within the troop.
@kendee_ It did happen in one of the troops in Cambodia a few years ago. A baby was constantly hooting, and an adult got fed up with the noise and basically hit the baby in an attempt to stop the noise. But AM is not videoing on Monkey Hill 24/7, so your comment is also plausible.
@@michaelhearn3052 I think I know what scenario you're talking, and it's true that it does happen sometimes. I think the main difference is how the Cambodia troops are filled with disproportionate amounts of ex-pet monkeys and their descendants. They're not as well-adjusted and don't always act naturally due to their mistreatment and passing down those traits.
@kendee_ I would be of the opinion that Scooby succomed to either a fatal fall or road kill, and perhaps someone saw this. Maybe one of the 4 other people who also video on Monkey Hill or one of the feeders.
It would be interesting if you were allowed and able to somehow safely put a tracker on one of the monkey's. But i am aware that it is likely not allowed and also the safety of the monkey and the person trying to place the tracker. Just saying it would be interesting to be able learn where they go after they enter the woods and trees
@@yvonneconte3040 Tracking devices improve yearly. Now we can buy lightweight inexpensive tracking devices for our luggage, keys, eyeglass cases, etc. I have friends attach them to their cats’ collars when traveling for safety. Perhaps this technology will make it possible to try again without affecting the animal’s behavior.

MrAM, was Taggy still wearing his collar during these missing times? Was his collar to gather information about where he was such as a tracking collar? Would you be given access to this information? Maybe that would help to find out where the gang was during missing times?
@debbiemcghee6617 it is possible that one of the universities could put a tracker on a monkey if research was being done on, say, animal migration. Them AM could get involved, but he would have to give his reasons for the need to access their data.
Is it possible that any of the monkeys are microchipped and you can find out from the authorities where they go during this time frame? Just a thought.
What about poachers and traps and so many having the baby's as pets or abuse them on youtube, some of them are the amber colored ones that " talk" much more like these do and not the pig tails or korean and other types. Some are just like these.....i love them btw especially in nature....
@MOODCARE AM has commented in the past that he doubts that anyone in HK has a monkey as a pet. And has advised that it is illegal. Likewise, in Cambodia, it is illegal to have a monkey as a pet, but we see from the videos that some people do, and the authorities there are keen to stop this. How successful they are is another matter. I am of the opinion that it was either a fatal fall or road kill.

Hi😊
Thank you
SCOOBY😢 His haunted eyes are ingrained in my brain.
Wow thank you for the aerial view. Had no idea that area was so big…
Mitty looked kind of pale, so perhaps he was sick or had something wrong with him that he was born with.
It's probably a bad combination of the babies hitting peak exploring age and a sudden change in environment causing accidents.
Does Lizzy have any girl children
Ohh Scooby😢. He had so sad eyes...poor one

Happy Friday from Alaska.
I wish a few in our gang could have a tracking device
Taggy did. It was cumbersome 😢
I wish they had trail cameras!
Taggy was in a constant bad mood while he had that tracker on. Totally change after they removed it.

Except the authorities will also use it to sterilize the females in the troop.
Maybe Poachers got some of them.
