I am already restoring a very old house. It was built in 1860. I bought it in really bad shape and I got it restored enough for me to move in it. It has all new electrical wiring , breaker box, water lines, sewer lines, roof, windows, updated kitchen, updated bathroom and installed paneling in all rooms. It went from being abandoned and condemned to livable within 6 months. ( bought October 2019) it is a cute solid old brick house with a new lease on life.

Awesome restoring a house from 1860! Thank you for your service we really need to save as many of these old houses as possible. Also I love wood paneling😍😍 They will NEVER go back to making such beauty, a craftsmanship infused building that someone put a lot of time into the ornate wood throughout, and built way stronger than anything modern and far more beautiful. I wish I could afford to restore an old house filled with many memories from many people over the years. It's heartbreaking to see beautiful old houses abandoned. Instead of buying a new house I would very gladly much rather restore an old deserving house that has stood the test of time and will continue to do so

Your house sounds lovely. I’m working on a craftsman 1901 home it has a fireplace into the right hand side has a built-in bookcase with leaded and stain glass doors, and I have tulip stained glass windows on each side. It looks better than when I moved in .hope enjoy your house.🤗

Can the people in their cars afford to renovate? Or do they freely live there in possible asbestos filled, wood rotting, black mold home? Who pays to fix it to livable standards? The state? Who pays for sickness or injury if the people in cars can't renovate safely?
      That's why it is abandoned

@@jenniferrath1026 no the reason it is is because of banks taking the home and due to it being a foreclosure home was left to rot instead of sellingit or it could be that the family left because one dumb reason over another and when it was left was decades ago thats why its rotting its been so long theres probably busted pipes and other problems because of it not being USED for most likely 30 to 50 years

What happens a lot that most people don't know unless you work in healthcare is if an elderly person or a middle-aged person has no living family around or living with them and they have to go into the hospital due to illness or a full they're not allowed to go back to their home play recessed by the state and put in the nursing home and so what happens is they can't return to their home I'm surprised the nursing home didn't sell the house they're not and they use their resources for the nursing home they have to they have no choice in the matter and if they have no relatives what happened to a friend of mine who is 100 years old he had no one to care for him and he had to give up his co-op condo apartment they would not let him return

But, when a home owner is put in a position you just described, they didn't plan on their house falling into disrepair. ❤❤

I'm pretty sure the wall next to the front stairs was added because the 2nd floor clearly is set up for a separate apartment which would explain why the room past the arched opening was left without a door. This would let folks in the front door and they could access either the main level or the upstairs. Horrible way to treat such a beautiful old lady. What's really wild is the basement is bone dry! I though all those basements would flood without a working sump pump. That house could be saved, if somebody had a fortune to spend. Wish it were me. I love this place.

Other than the peeling paint this house was pretty nice !! As old as this place is they no doubt used oil base paint. I learned the hard way you can't use water-based paint over oil. The result is just what you saw all over the house !! It is too bad the originality was destroyed when they divided it into apartments. You could see bits and pieces here and there that they left intact. The trim around the windows was very late 18th or early 19th century. It would be lovely restored and put back to its old glory days. The home is still structurally sound with a few exceptions. Thanks for showcasing it !!!

Personally, I don't think it would take much money to make that house liveable if you did most of the work yourself. Turn on the power, install a new boiler, replace the drywall and/or strip the paint and sand or strip the painted woodwork. The floors looked totally fine. And the roof is obviously good because there's no water/leak damage. The basement is filthy but dry. It's been very well kept, it's just that the changes in temperature wrecked the paint. If the appliances worked I'd just plug them in again. Everything in the kitchens and baths would need massive cleaning and you'd need new toilets. But the brick looks to be in fine shape, likewise the windows....this house is totally savable. I hope someone does it! I would LOVE to restore this lovely old gem.

Cut back to a whole house this would be and was a great place. Kids would love growing up there. And the "no trespassing" signs were obvious, do you get permission to go in these?

I would guess the house originally had an open foyer. It looks like they extended the front bedroom on the second floor thus closing off the open foyer. That's why the sheet rock goes directly up to the banister. It looks like the second floor was converted to an apartment.

This is almost identical to my grandparents house in Butte MT. I was going to say that the differences were the front room opened to the dining room but you showed that wall was added. The entryway was all more open but it looks like at one time that was open. In her older age, she rented the upstairs out. I read that that style of home was designed by someone in Chicago and was a popular style at the turn of the century. Her house went into decay once then someone restored it beautifully at some point. When i look at it on google street view, it’s back in decay. So very sad.

Beautiful house! I love the porch and the 2 sets of stairs. I wish they would have kept it original! I had to slow down the speed at 10:35/10:36-10:39 ish area or as your walking out of the bathroom talking about the moldy door and you can faintly hear whispering as your talking. Maybe I’m just hearing things 😹. Great explore! Love these older homes! Do you know why this was abandoned for so long?

Unfortunately I have no idea why it’s been abandoned. It’s located in a small town and not really affected by development.

@@urbexontario73 Probably part of an unresolved inheritance or something like that. The owner may also be in a nursing home, etc. and therefore the fate of the house won't be resolved until that person passes.

The only thing that's "terrifying" about that house is the amount of lead paint dust you stirred-up while trespassing inside it.

It really isn't that bad of shape, just major paint peeling, which would make it easier if the house is restored. I've noticed you're very bad at guessing the age of the wallpaper and appliances, I guess I'm being too hard, you're young and not in your 60's like myself and remember the styles of the past decades, but your videos are very entertaining.

Needs some work. Yes it worth renovating.

The latex was probably on an oil based paint which explains the severe peeling. Yes the wall was built in front of the railing, those homes were open concept foyers with the parlour off to the side with walls.

I saw nothing terrifying about this beautiful vintage home left to disintegrate. It would be stunning restored.

Most of the peeling paint is latex painted over oil based paint. With the lack of temperature control because it is vacant, the paint peeled. I would restore this in a spilt second. Single family home, what a beauty!

I lived in an old brick house very similar to this as a teen.
These houses have a personality that you cannot experience in today's world.
    Beautiful place.

You asked which type of abandoned house your viewers like you to video. Both. There's something for everyone and some of these really old bangers have incredible potential for an expensive restoration. You can just imagine what to do with all the rooms in these older places, den, reading area, art room, library, office and exercise area the list goes on. Once again, you've done a very good outside walk around. You always do though.
