    The Jerry is better. Just because of the one but most important setting. The Collimation setting!
    You can Collimate the image perfectly to your PVS-14. This means the image is aligned. You can merge the image without eye fatigue.

    I still think the RH25/Pfalcon640 is the best, unless the new steiner gen 2 beats it. One could argue these aren't "budget" though, but there aren't anything cheaper id run for a 4 in 1 thermal (weapon, clip on, helmet, handheld).

    • @falconclaw_
      @falconclaw_  5 місяців тому +3

      No argument there, PFN640 does perform better. Crisper image, better red hot(my fav) and probably more durable(have yet to break a YM tho). It does cost just a bit more and it not as user friendly, YM has most functions you want fast access to(zoom, color palette, etc) just a button combination away, with PFN you need to surf the menu for those.

    • @GldenRetriever
      @GldenRetriever 5 місяців тому

      @@falconclaw_ For sure. I hope the gen 2 has a better interface as it isn't fun going into the menu while using it. As for the price, I see it as if you are already spending thousands of dollars on something, a few thousand more to be happy with is worth it for me. Had a few times where I cheaped out on something, only to upgrade to what I originally wanted in the first place.

      That Steiner C35 Gen2 doesn’t look like it’s rail mountable. Only for direct attachment to large objective scopes. If so, that’s going to really limit it’s use, and won’t really fall into the same category as other small multi-role thermals

    • @GldenRetriever
      @GldenRetriever 5 місяців тому

      @@rileyfrench3837 There are rail adapters for those style of clip ones, so I'm sure someone will make one for it if there isn't on already that works.

    • @dejuanballard3367
      @dejuanballard3367 5 місяців тому

      Each thermal device will have its own individual specs for what it's rated for , although 308 specifically is known for destroying electronics.

    • @jakenikolia1453

      since the battery compartment is mounted longitudinally I doubt it'll survive just like how old Eotech's died on scars, looks like military only thermals have lateral mounted battery compartments like FLIR's

    • @jakenikolia1453
      @jakenikolia1453 Місяць тому

      No because the battery compartment is mounted on it longitudinally, like old eotechs the battery compartments were then made that way then they changed it to latitudinally on the latest models because MK17's were breaking the older models, the only thermals that I can find that have a battery compartment that is mounted on the optic latitudinally are mil/le FLIR's, in terms of clip-on's, but also I think infiray makes better thermals than FLIR and also another thing to consider is that thermals are basically a digital camera so them being mounted on any caliber they probably will eventually be shaked apart.

    Regarding the much brighter heat signatures of the RH25 seen in this comparison, can the Jerry YM be adjusted to look the same by boosting the contrast? If you were to also boost the contrast of the RH25, does it then outperform the Jerry YM again?

    • @billyyoung1630
      @billyyoung1630 4 місяці тому

      That's what I was wondering during the comparison. Looked like all he needed to do was boost up the contrast a bit and it would be just as good as the pfalson/rh25. Sometimes I get the sense reviewers intentionally do this so they don't affect the sales of their "higher end" units that have more profit margins $$$.

      @@falconclaw_ Pulsar makes thermal in Lithuania with French sensors, for a lower price point than these Chinese manufacturers. I see no reason besides their own dumb brand identity why they couldn't make something like the PFN640+.

    • @billyyoung1630
      @billyyoung1630 4 місяці тому

      @joffeloff as soon as pulsar makes one I'll gladly buy it. The US market is flooded with rebranded Chinese thermals and they are intentionally price gouging us and manipulating the industry by withholding software features that are only available on international versions.

  • @billyyoung1630
    @billyyoung1630 4 місяці тому +2

    The US has the Rix Stride. It is exactly the same but it's not marketed as a clip on. It also seems to use an older software version. Is the Jerry YM version 2 a separate device from version 1 or was it a firmware update? I desperately need this software version! A red value would be amazing. Currently, it just puts the red value in the middle and can't be changed so it's useless. Also I only have 1-5 on contrast and brightness. 1-10 would be game changing!

      @bmbullman yep. There's either a disconnect between China and Rix customer service, or they're intentionally slow rolling and misdirecting to wait out the AGM StingIR licensing rights to Irays clip on features in the US market. If they're not transparent about it, then assume the worst. I regret purchasing this product.

    Does it have the intrusive user interfaces icons like the original JYM? Nothing worse than seeing "WHITE" take up the bottom corner of the screen. It looks clean on the video but figured it could be from the recording or cropped.

      Thx bud, i know that. The issue with the mh25 was, that a lot of people used an pvs14 eyepiece (additional ~300 bugs) because the eyebox of the mh25 was crappy. I want to know if iray managed to do it better this time, so its comfortable to use a pvs14 and the YM next to each other.

    How does it compare with regard go Sidekick 640 with regard to FOV and clarity? Also, it looks "grey'd out", have you tuned the image settings or are you running it stock?

    • @falconclaw_
      @falconclaw_  5 місяців тому +3

      The image processing on the Jerry-YM seems to be better than the sidekick. The specs look the same but with thermals specs are not the only things that matter. We pick this over the Sidekick any day. What you see through the device and what the video recording looks like are a bit different, it does not look grey and it is a bit better clarity and quality.
