    I love that you show appreciation for Scott in his song. Many people talk about Mitch or Avi or Kirstie (which they deserve), but almost no one talk about everything Scott does in this song. Thank you for acknowledging him!

    I love when a SINGER listens and comments on Pentatonix. Most people can hear how beautiful their music is, but only singers understand how exceptional they are. Their ranges are abnormally large, their control of their voices and their blend, the dynamics they use in their arrangements and are always on point! I’m so glad they are committed to the group because any one of them could stand alone, but as a group PTX is a rare and beautiful gift!

    Their Bohemian Rhapsody cover will surprise you. They all have solo projects although Superfruit is Scott and Mitch together. They have two EPs out, Avi has an Album out, Kirstin has an album out and so does Kevin.

    Every one of these people is so incredibly talented, it just blows my mind. It always amazes me how full those five voices sound, even when recording live. As you know, they all have solo projects in their own preferred styles. In Avi’s album, under Avriel and the Sequoias, he has a great, upbeat version of Sweet Adeline, sung more in his baritone range. Recently he posted a more soulful, solo version in his bass range that is just beautiful. It is on his Facebook page, and it’s well worth looking checking out.

      Wrong! Scott is NOT singing the bass (in this version). Scott does the bass line when the perform this live. For the studio recording Avi is double looped. They recorded his base line and his singing part separate. If you listen closely on the Hali"LUJAH" part, you can hear SIX voices. The other 4, Avi's bass part, and his singing part. If you listen to the live version you can key in and hear that Scotts par during that isn't there because he covers the bass in the live version.

They have dozens of videos on UA-cam, all exceptional.

    HALLELUJAH!...a simple song that has bore more fruit than a peach orchard in Georgia. I don't know what that means, but it sounds like something a southerner would say.
    AGX here...saying hello from Houston. I hadn't realized how new to PTX you were. Let me tell you something...I don't fan-boy often because it goes against my image of being an angry rock n roll guy (he says sarcastically), but this is the song that hooked me, not to mention it was the first thing I had ever heard from PTX. And I have heard more people say that about HALLELUJAH than any other song.
    What's cool about your reactions is you seem to understand what the sonic experience should be when listening to music from both an arranging and recording perspective. PTX clearly has an amazing engineering team and their musical talent goes without saying. But, they use very basic fundamentals of music theory to arrange their pieces, which is why they are so amazing. Think about it...who the f*** in the pop music world does that?!
    Anyway...thanks for a great reaction. I eagerly await your next PTX upload.
    Until then...AGX out.

    Kirstin has a Self-Titled CD that she released around the same time that Superfruit released theirs. She did an Official Music Video for each song as well. I think she did not get the support she deserved from Pentaholics, but she never does and I don't know why. I LOVE Kirstin and she is as important as every other member of that group. I'd love to watch your reaction to her 1st release from the album! It's called "Break a Little" by Kirstin (she has chosen to go by her first name only as an artist). 😊

    Music magic.
    The most amazing thing about them is that even though they are every one star quality, they seem to be able to subjugate their egos in service to the music. Shows rare humility, and true friendship, which I hope they can maintain so we can continue to enjoy them. Makes me think they must be very nice people.

  • @mecfstraveler

    I honestly believe they would be at least nominated for a Grammy for this video and the arrangement. The location was so barren as it would have been when King David had been writing songs in the Book of Psalms and I do believe he is the king they are referring to in the lyrics. Yes I know they refer to Sampson and things like that but I just mean it's so bear and it shows the pain of the Soul that is reflected in the song. It's that feel that makes the song So poignant. And they also kill this one live! It's one of Kirstin's personal bests, always gives me chills. Being that the original is such a beloved song it's amazing that they were able to make people like another version, their version. This is one I didn't watch for a while because I was afraid that for the first time I would just like something by PTX. I was wrong! There's been a couple that I was afraid to listen to and waited a while. They never let me down on those either I was certain they were going to because it was my favorite songs from favorite artists! For instance the evolution of Michael Jackson. I didn't want to hear that one. He is such a special and unique human being and talent I never thought anybody could do any justice to his music besides Michael himself. But they did a great job! If they're pretty smart about certain songs performed by particular performers that are classics and cannot be improved on in our minds. PTX is very smart when they covered those songs. They keep it as close to the original as they can. Like they did with bohemian Rhapsody. Leaving getting requests to cover that throughout their career, and they always said no they did not feel that they could do the original Justice. They said if they ever came to a place where they thought they could do justice to that song maybe then they would cover it. I was amazed when they did go ahead and cover that. Some things people didn't notice in Bohemian Rhapsody. We always pick up on Kevin doing acoustics and rhythm but I found it really nice that we got to hear the piano as Freddie Mercury played it in the beginning. I expected to hear that piano cuz I was listening for the original song subconsciously and it just was really a treat that they vocalized those notes. They were very smart to stick to the original and not try to change it. They still remember to be humble and I just love the heck out of that about them. They show a lot of respect where it's definitely due. Another short story by me and an amazing reaction from you!

  • @susansisson366
    @susansisson366 6 років тому

    The baseline, as sung by Avi, underlies the harmonics of the trio, and is gorgeous. The visuals, ending with the winter sunset sky, is simply stunning, especially with the song which has built to such a tremendous crescendo, and then fades, as does the winter sky, into the perfect ending. Wow! They released this record just two weeks before the composer, Leonard Cohen, passed on to glory. I hope he heard their version before he died. It is the best, the very best, and the perfect song to go out on.

      @Obama's Uncle, Scott indeed takes over the bass while Avi is singing. If you watch a live performance you can actually see Scott singing the bass while Avi sings. Scott can sing pretty low as well. He has an incredible range. I just attended their concert 3 days ago and they actually performed this song and Matt the new bass sang while Scott did the bass as well. 😊
