Alright since it's not in the description here's his top 10 10. GUMMO - 6ix9ine 9. XOTOURLif3 - Lil Uzi Vert 8. LWYMMD - Taylor Swift 7. Privacy - Chris Brown 6. Treat You Better - Shawn Mendes 5. Crank That (Soulja Boy) - Soulja Boy 4. It's Everyday Bro - Jake Paul ft. Team 10 3. Tunnel Vision - Kodak Black 2. Body Like A Backroad - Sam Hunt 1. Drinkin' Too Much - Sam Hunt
Yes, Shape of You was overhated. I really like how it's produced, all the subtle textures make it a lot better than most tropical house. As soon as you notice that tiny knocking noise on the offbeat it becomes 100 times catchier. Also I could listen to Ed tell me he's in love with my body all day tbh.
1. DNA 2. Slide 3. Slow Hands 4. All Time Low 5. HUMBLE 6. Redbone 7. Congratulations 8. 24K Magic 9. Castle on the Hill 10. Stay HM: Sign of the Times, iSpy, Love Galore, Shape of You, Havana, Caroline, That's What I Like
In my opinion 1 Sign Of The Times, 2 Slide, 3 Goosebumps 4 DNA 5 ISpy 6 All Time Low 7 I'm The One 8 Bounce Back 9 I Feel It Coming 10 Castle On The Hill
My Top 10 Best: 1. “DNA.”- Kendrick Lamar 2. “Redbone”- Childish Gambino 3. “Slide”- Calvin Harris ft. Frank Ocean and Migos 4. “Castle on the Hill’ - Ed Sheeran 5. “HUMBLE.”-Kendrick Lamar 6. “That’s What I Like”- Bruno Mars 7. “Sign Of the Times”- Harry Styles 8. “Location”-Khalid 9. “Unforgettable” -French Montana ft. Swae Lee 10. “LOYALTY.”-Kendrick Lamar ft. Rihanna
I'm so happy to see Kesha on the charts again. I enjoyed a couple of her older Ke$ha songs but I feel like this new album is more honest and is the real Kesha. I feel like the older music and image was manufactured and thrust upon her. I'm glad that she is able to enjoy success again and I really hope that her nightmare is over and that she is happy and healthy.
10. Havana - Camila Camelo9. DNA - Kendrick Lamar8. Feel it Coming - The Weekend ft. Daft Punk7. Praying - Kesha6. Feel it Still - Portugal. The Man5. Sign of the Times - Harry Styles 4. Redbone - Childish Gambino3. Slide - Calvin Harris ft Frank Ocean2. 24k Magic - Bruno Mars1. Humble - Kendrick Lamar
I didn't really see a lot of controversy regarding Mark's picks, as I can defend them all. My Top 10 goes as follows: 10. Water Under the Bridge: So glad this song snuck on the year end list. Not as good as Set Fire to the Rain, but very close. 9. Feel it Still: The Austin Powers vibes of this song are very real. I just wish it were longer. 8. Sign of the Times: This rock throwback is something special. Harry Styles really surprised me. 7. Humble: At the end of the day, this is the Kendrick song I was most exposed to this year, so this song beats out DNA. 6. Castle on the Hill: By far Ed Sheeran's best song, I'm glad it didn't flop like I feared it would at the beginning of the year. 5. Praying: This is a track that snuck up on me, as I was not expecting this raw vocal intensity from Kesha. Easily better than Timber. 4. 24k Magic: This song never fails to put a smile on my face. Almost as good as Uptown Funk! 3. That's What I Like: That synth bridge is flat out awesome, no questions asked. P.S. If Versace on the Floor were a hit, it'd easily be my #1. 2. Redbone: I wasn't expecting to like this song, but that last 90 seconds of guitar is just so infectious. 1. I Feel It Coming: I'm a sucker for throwback songs, and this one is flat out amazing. Better than Can't Feel My Face and Starboy. Putting my best list together for this year was extremely difficult, as it meant that several personal gems missed out on the best list, like Havana, Too Good at Goodbyes, Slide, What Ifs, DNA, In Case You Didn't Know, Love on the Brain, Slow Hands, 18002738255, Scars to Your Beautiful, It Ain't Me, There's Nothin' Holding Me Back, Attention, Something Just Like This and Despacito. But then again, that is a testament to how good this year was for me. I'm not holding my breath for 2018, considering turds like Gummo and Gucci Gang are posed to be big hits, but I'm still hopeful due to continued traction for good tracks like Love, No Limit, and New Rules. I also hope that against my dire expectations, Too Much to Ask and How Long become hits as well.
For me, it's... Honorable Mentions: • Sign of the Times • Starboy • Rockstar 10. Redbone 9. Goosebumps 8. Humble. 7. iSpy 6. I Feel It Coming 5. Broccoli 4. All Time Low 3. Praying 2. 24k Magic 1. DNA.

This right here is why you are my favorite music reviewer on UA-cam. We like almost all the same music and I can't say you aren't wrong in any of your picks! Great video Mark onto the next video.
I’m happy “Castle on the Hill” made it on this list! I argue it’s the highlight of Sheeran’s third album, but we both know it’s not a money maker like “Shape of You” or “Perfect”. Otherwise, great list, Mark!
Here's my list (straight up from the year-end 100, so it counts repeats) 10. Water Under The Bridge [Adele] - Self-explanatory, really. Just a great song, although it isn't very "pop" so it might be underrated here. 9. Young Dumb & Broke [Khalid] - Really dig the mood of the song, the chorus is great. 8. Slide [Calvin Harris] - Frank Ocean is great. Love the beat. Good guest verses. Could probably be better, but very creative and unique. 7. Redbone [Childish Gambino] - Self-explanatory, although I'm not the biggest fan of the song relative to some of my friends. 6. Sign of the Times [Harry Styles] - Wonderful song. I don't really love all of its parts, but its wonderfully executed, and the mood is amazing. 5. Starboy [The Weeknd] - Technically a repeat, but if it's on the list, I count it. Self-explanatory. 4. Let Me Love You [Justin Bieber/DJ Snake] - Probably the one huge surprise pick, but I genuinely love this song. Best thing JB's ever done. 3. It Ain't Me [Selena Gomez/Kygo] - I really, really dig the repeating lyrics here. Beautifully used, compared to some songs where it feels like a gimmick. Kygo is awesome. 2. DNA [Kendrick Lamar] - Again, not the biggest fan compared to some of my friends, but energetic as fun and self-explanatory. 1. I Feel It Coming [The Weeknd] - It's so ridiculously mellow and chill that I couldn't help but put it at #1. One of my favorite Weeknd songs, honestly, although it runs a little long.
1. Dua Lipa - New Rules 2. Lorde - Perfect Places 3. Tove Lo - Disco Tits 4. Ed Sheeran - Castle on the Hill 5. Harry Styles - Sign of the Times 6. Rick Ross - Idols Become Rivals 7. Jay-Z - The Story of O.J. 8. Migos - Slippery [ft. Gucci Mane] 9. Childish Gambino - Redbone 10. Kendrick Lamar - LOYALTY. [ft. Rihanna]
Kendrick is spitting on HUMBLE. & DNA. but I'd say LOYALTY. is the more enjoyable song to replay. Yes, I do love Kendrick. Overly Dedicated, Kendrick Lamar EP, Section.80, good kid, To Pimp are all dope. DAMN. is his worst studio album in my opinion. It's super commercial and not as profound as Pimp or smooth and memorable as good kid. Even Section.80 had great rhymes, flows, and content while DAMN. is more accessible to people I'd say.
HM 1: Never really liked this that much but I'm a moron so... HM 2: Should be number infinity. HM 3: DA CONTROVERSY HM 4: Cash Money. HM 5: Hey, he pressed his like. HM 6: The best thing Migos has done ever in the history. HM 7: I called this being on here. 10. The chorus hits like a truck and it's beautiful. 9. ay 8. I would like this less if it was a post-mortem MJ song. 7. bumbumbumbumbumbum 6. All time classic. 5. So much better than anything else the members of this band have made. 4. Eh. 3. This is equal to his other hit, but still really good. 2. he got some stuff in him. 1. A dose of perfection, right there.
Beth Hart has made that style of song since 1993. Learning to Live, Setting Me Free, At the Bottom, Leave the Light On, Hiding Underwater, St. Teressa and Love Is The Hardest are just some of those songs.
Vox 2448 There are several people on the internet that comment that some music is unique and they want to hear more of it even if the style was popular for decades. I just use Beth Hart's name because she is one of a half dozen or less versatile musical artists out there and the only one of those I listen to. Saying something needs more punch or more emotion is just too vague. I want a song and artist as an example.
1. Bodak Yellow by Cardi B 2. Humble by Kendrick 3. New Rules by Dua Lipa 4. Mi Gente by J Balvin, Willy William, and Beyonce 5. Sign of the Times by Harry Styles 6. Praying by Kesha 7. Bad Liar by Selena Gomez 8. Havana by Camila Cabello 9. It Aint Me by Kygo and Selena Gomez 10. Feel it Still by Portugal. The Man
I've been relistening to "It Aint Me" a lot more recently and loving, so to see its praises here makes me so happy. Underrated song but such a gem. Same with Castle on the Hill :') Great list Mark! Glad that 2017 had some amazing songs come out this year!
Ayy, the best hits of 2017 list is already out? Nice. Remember how I compared 2017 to 2013 and 2009 on the worst hits video? Well, I still stand by that. Though I feel like I have to clarify something: 2017's heights were on the same level as - or even better than- the 2013 ones. (Now that I'm thinking, 2004 comparisons might work out too. With the abundance of hip hop and all) HM1: Don't consider it great, but it is a step in the right direction. Let's hope Mendes does more stuff in this vein. HM2: At one point, I thought of putting this in my top 5. I think it cooled on me a bit since then...Not a bad song tho, it is still making the top 10 properly. HM3: Yeah, I'm fine with this being here. Kinda got tired of the criticism it was hit with. Your arguments in favor of the song are great. HM4: So much fun. HM5: I think I can hear a guitar somewhere in the beat. That's what first got me into it. Then came the atmosphere that both Travis and Kendrick create. HM6: Yeah, I think both Calvin Harris and Migos deciding to start making good music was good for us. HM7: Kinda like the chemistry between Kane and Lauren. And yeah, it can seem a bit vapid, but I like the whole flipping negative second guessings into positives. Mostly because I can relate to that. 10: Was expecting it to be a break-up song too. I'm glad it is not, it seems more complex this way. And I'm glad it did well enough to be on the Year End. 9: The one that makes me want to go and call out other people's bullshit. And mine, when it is the case. "So remember how I said I saw Travis Scott this year? He was opening for Kendrick Lamar, and watching the entire arena scream back every single word of this song at Kendrick line for line was unlike anything I had ever seen at a hip-hop show." That sounds great. I love these kind of moments at a gig. 8: Stuff to have a walk in a park to. Nah, but really, it is a good song. I enjoy the whole thing with the possibility of being exposed to a genuine connection, that is cool. However, I can't help but wish that Party Monster and False Alarm did better on the charts. 7: I thought of putting this as #1 on my list. It is that great. 6: Decent. But I have to be honest: there are some elements here that don't click with me. 5: This one is in my top 5 as well. 4: It works surprisingly well. Like the tone, don't think it is directed to Bieber. I buy Selena listening to The Libertines as much as I buy Katy Perry or Avril Lavigne listening to Radiohead. 3: N'aww. Really like the songwriting on this one. And sounding like 80s U2 is not a bad thing for me. 2: This is the definition of a tour de force. I'm glad it did that well, especially considering it does not sound like hit material. 1: Great song, I'm glad it was successful, I'm glad Kesha managed to mark her comeback in such a triumphant and moving way. update: I think All Time Low (Jon Bellion) is growing on me. So I'm going to move it from the decent tier to the good one.
Pretty solid list, Mark. Hard to disagree with any of your reviews, and only minor quibbles with some of your placements. My Top Ten (w/o 2016 Repeats) 10. Castle on the Hill 9. Attention 8. Praying 7. Bodak Yellow 6. Sign of the Times 5. Slide 4. DNA 3. Feel It Still 2. 24K Magic 1. Redbone
I'm very easy to please. I have hated every song Charlie Puth's ever put out, but the second I heard a good fucking bassline on pop radio, I converted to the Church of Puth.
Not gonna lie, I expected Strip That Down to make an appearance in the HMs at least considering what you said about it on Billboard Breakdown. And I was surprised to see What Ifs on there. But this was a great list, and a well deserved #1.
Congrats for scrolling this far down in the comment section My List (if anyone cares): HM's - 'Havana' by Camila Cabello (yes I'm a straight guy) - 'Young Dumb & Broke' by Khalid - 'Swang' by Rae Sremmurd - 'Bounce Back' by Big Sean - 'iSpy' by Kyle & Lil Yachty - 'All Time Low' by Jon Bellion - 'What Ifs' by Kane Brown 10. As bad of a year as it was, there were some surprisingly great hits this year. My personal top 15: 15. Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still 14. Kendrick Lamar - HUMBLE. 13. Calvin Harris - Slide ft. Frank Ocean & Migos 12. Drake - Passionfruit 11. TWENTY ØNE PILØTS - Heathens 10. Future - Mask Off 9. Kygo & Selena Gomez - It Ain't Me 8. Ke$ha - Praying 7. Cardi B - Bodak Yellow (Money Moves) 6. Rihanna - Love on the Brain
Surprising list! I didn’t think Mo Bounce would be Number 1 (especially because it peaked at 117), but it’s your list, not mine. OK to be serious this list is awesome Mine would go a little more like this 10. Woman by Kesha ft. The Dap-Kings Horns 9. Perfect For You by Rachel Platten 8. Thumbs by Sabrina Carpenter 7. You Already Know by Fergie ft. Nicki Minaj 6. Help Me Out by Maroon 5 ft. Julia Michaels 5. Let Me Go by Hailee Steinfeld ft. Alesso, Florida Georgia Line and watt 4. Mad Hatter by Melanie Martinez 3. Run Up by Major Lazer ft. PARTYNEXTDOOR and Nicki Minaj 2. Praying by Kesha 1. Homemade Dynamite by Lorde ft. Khalid, Post Malone and SZA Honourable Mentions: Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato, Bodak Yellow by Cardi B, Crybaby by Paloma Faith, Symphony by Clean Bandit ft. There are some choices here and there that i disagree with but i respect your opinions Mark mate Anyways here’s my list Just a note i’m from Ireland so my choices are based off songs that made it to the Irish Charts 10) Silence By Marshmello & Khalid 9) Slow Hands By Niall Horan 8) Galway Girl By Ed Sheeran 7) Wild Thoughts By Dj Khaled, Rihanna & Bryson Tiller 6) There’s Nothing Holding Me Back By Shawn Mendes 5) September Song By JP Cooper 4) Too Good At Goodbyes By Sam Smith 3) HUMBLE By Kendrick Lamar 2) Sign Of The Times By Harry Styles 1) Human By Rag’n’Bone Man Honorable Mentions HM: Paris By The Chainsmokers HM: Slide By Calvin Harris, Frank Ocean & Migos HM: Something Just Like This ByThe Chainsmokers & Coldplay HM: Castle On The Hill By Ed Sheeran HM: Unforgettable By French Montana & Swae Lee HM: It Ain’t Me By Kygo & Selena Gomez HM: I’m The One By DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Quavo, Lil Wayne & Chance The Rapper
+Bloindieflay ADoseofBuckley can be described as a cynical minded person, and while he can be funny and make good points at times, he isn't a particularly reliable "music critic" for that reason, nor does he regard himself as such. Besides, he even admitted that he isn't very passionate about music as an art, which should be self-explanatory.
+Blondieflay Buckley is 1 critic, and very often I agree with him. This one he is wrong on. His entire reasoning is "Kesha makes stupid dance music, this isn't that, so it's bad" and sorry, that's just not a good reason. People are allowed varying opinions, Buckley often has contrarian opinions... he isn't the be all and end all, especially when his reasoning is that faulty
Here's my list, girlies; 10. Dreamcatcher - Sleepwalking 9. Odd Eye Circle - Girl Front 8. Dreamcatcher - Chase Me 7. NCT - Cherry Bomb 6. AOA - Excuse Me 5. Gugudan - A Girl Like Me 4. Dreamcatcher - Good Night 3. Dreamcatcher - Fly High 2. Red Velvet - Rookie 1. Lovelyz - Wow
I still can’t get over that Buckley put Praying on his worst list because it was “boring”. One of the worst critics on UA-cam. I’m glad someone gave Kesha the credit she deserves
Well, I personally agree with Buckley. I think Praying is boring, but unlike him, I didn't put it on my worst list because it didn't bother me enough. If a boring song is to make it near my worst lists, it either needs to piss me off, or be so boring that it pisses me off. Praying does neither.
Buckley put praying on his top ten worst of the year and the whole time I am sitting there like this is one of the best songs I have ever heard this guy is crazy. Glad to see at least one other person agrees. Awesome video.
My favorite hit songs of 2017, using Mark's same parameters: 1- "Castle on the Hill" - Ed Sheeran 2- "Too Good at Goodbyes" - Sam Smith 3- "Malibu" - Miley Cyrus 4- "Praying" - Kesha 5- "It Ain't Me" - Kygo & Selena Gomez 6- "Chained to the Rhythm" - Katy Perry ft. Skip Marley 7- "Something Just Like This" - The Chainsmokers & Coldplay 8- "Rockabye" - Clean Bandit 9- "Feel It Still" - Portugal. The Man 10- "What About Us" - P!nk
My list 10. 24k Magic 9. Havana 8. I Feel It Coming 7. It Ain’t Me 6. Redbone 5. Sign Of The Times 4. All Time Low 3. Feel It Still 2. DNA 1. Castle On The Hill Honourable Mentions Humble Rockabye Praying That’s What I Like Say You Won’t Let Go (I really wanted to hate this) There’s Nothing Holding Me Back Despacito Original Mans Not Hot (The Ting Goes) Something Just Like This Water Under The Bridge
Even funnier, he said in a tweet that he didn't hate the song, at all. The song placed above it in the year end list, do re mi, made it in the worst list, think about that
My list (btw I like every single song that you picked for this list. That is extremely rare): Hm 1- Slow Hands by Niall Horan: the catchiest guitar melody all year, and I actually really dig the effect that is used on both the percussion and the vocals Hm 2- Feels by Calvin Harris ft. Katy Perry, Big Sean, and Pharrell: An insanely fun and enjoyable pop song that, while shallow, is still very well executed Hm 3- Havana by Camilla Cabello ft. Young Thug- this song is the easiest to like and appreciate, with its jazzy-Latin vibe, Camilla actually understating her vocals, and a brilliant trumpet solo. I'm prepared to see this on everybody else's top 10 lists Hm 4- Young, Dumb, and Broke by Khalid- this song puts a smile on my face every time I listen to it because of it's fun but chilled-out nature. And unlike Mark, I really dig that post chorus mumble Hm 5- Shape of You by Ed Sheeran: Sure, it got overplayed to shit, but the hook is fun and catchy, the lyrics are arrogant but understandable, and the deeper African-inspired grove on the chorus is immensely enjoyable Hm 6- Humble by Kendrick Lamar: Brag trap rap at its finest. This would have easily made the list proper if it was a year like 2016 or 2014 Hm 7- Feel it Still by Portugal. The Man:I actually really enjoy the falsetto, and the groove is possibly the best of the entire year 10. Slide by Calvin Harris ft. Frank Ocean & Migos- the perfect laid-back summer song (sorry Khalid). Frank Ocean delivers a weirdly-structured verse, but it transitions perfectly to Migos, whose flows, especially offset's, match perfectly with this groove 9. All Time Low by Jon Bellion- the most embarrassing song to become a hit since Marvin's Room. The off-kilter vibe is enough to make me love it, but Jon's clever usage of diction and wordplay make it extraordinary 8. Water Under the Bridge by Adele- Not much to say. While not nearly as good as When we were Young, it still kills as 25's final single 7. Wild Thoughts by Dj Khaled ft. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller- this song is super infectious and contains the best chemistry by two people that don't actually interact with each other. Also, i like how the production enhances the Santana sample. 6. It Ain't Me by Kygo ft. Selena Gomez- This song should just be serviceable. But Kygo decided to create a masterfully-constructed drop, the writing staff actually wrote compelling and complex lyrics, and Selena decided to push her voice to her limits for once (in a good way). 5. Redbone by Childish Gambino- this actually is arguably the best groove of any hit song in the last two years. It also is politically charged while being romantic (kind of like These Walls by Kendrick) 4. Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran- this song has a similar concept to my favorite hit song of last year, 7 years, but it improves upon the concept in every conceivable way. This song is easily Ed's best hit song of all time (at least in the U.S.) 3. Sign of the Times by Harry Styles- this is a song that you just don't get in today's age. A rock ballad with metaphorically powerful lyrics and some of the best vocals of any former boy band member? I must be dreaming 2. Praying by Kesha- easily the most emotionally powerful hit song of the last three years (that's including Take Me to Church). This is the best that I've ever heard vocally from Kesha, and lyrically it packs a punch even if you don't know the backstory 1. DNA by Kendrick Lamar- Kendrick going extremely political and spitting and sampling some of the most hard-hitting political commentary since The Blacker the Berry would've made this song barely clenching on to my number one alone. But the production is possibly the most objectively perfect you can get out of any hit song of the past decade, with the beat switch being one of the best moments in 2010s "pop" music. This song is just extremely kickass As for your other picks: 24k Magic, I Feel it Coming, and Goosebumps were all close to making my list, There's Nothing Holding Me Back was good but not good enough to make my list, and while I haven't fully listened to What Ifs, that chorus sounds really fucking great
Solid list! How is mark not well over 100K subs yet!? Your content is consistently great day after day week after week! Oh well they will come. I also love love love your billboard breakdown series. Being a nightclub DJ it’s a great quick way for me to get a sense of how the charts are moving week to week. Your a god send for that keep it up!!!

My top 10 (song had to hit top 20 or be on year end hot 100) 10: Water under the bridge by Adele 9: Paris by the chainsmokers 8: New Rules Dua lipa 7: Love on the brain by Rihanna 6: Wild thoughts by DJ Khalid and Rihanna 5: Loyalty by Kendrick Lamar feat Rihanna (what can I say it was a good year for her) 4: Million reasons by lady gaga 3: it ain’t me by Kygo and Selena Gomez 2: Green light by lorde 1: Praying by kesha (obvious choice is obvious) And because why not, some songs that would be on the top ten if they charted: Tell me you love me by Demi Lovato Hard times by Paramore Fake happy by paramore Perfect places by lorde Young by the chainsmokers The louvre by lorde Spaceship by Kesha Galway Girl by Ed Sheran Getaway car by Taylor Swift Strangers by Halsey When I was young by Mø This life is mine from the RWBY soundtrack (don’t judge me)
I think this is one of the best lists you've made - besides All Time Low. Idk, I can't exactly jam with that. Other than that, great #1, live that you put Harry on here, Kendrick being in here twice is well deserved. Awesome list!
This is my list: HMs Khalid - Young Dumb & Broke Little Mix - Power Niall Horan - Slow Hands Selena Gomez - Fetish ft. Gucci Mane Twice - Likey Rihanna - Love in the Brain 10. Bruno Mars - Versace on the Floor 9. Clean Bandit - Symphony ft. Zara Larsson 8. Selena Gomez & Marshmello - Wolves 7. Maroon 5 - What Lovers Do ft. SZA 6. Paramore - Hard Times 5. my top 5. 1. Havana 2. Sign of the Times 3. Praying 4. The Weekend/Love Galore 5. Titibo-Tibo (it's a local hit here in the Philippines. It's an amazing, although a little controversial lyrically, song. Check it out pls.)

Honorable mentions- there's nothing holding me back, feel it still, shape of you, 24k magic, goosebumps, slide,( what ifs(my personal favorites of so far)
My Top 5 5. Cardi B - Bodak Yellow 4. Havana - Camila Cabello 3. Kesha - Praying 2. Charlie Puth - Attention 1. The Chainsmokers - Something Just Like This
List Proper 1. What Ifs - pop perfection in a love song with country instrumentation and flair 2. Feel It Still - awesome alternative throwback jam, I love the horn section as a trumpet player 3. DNA. - if rap was lyrically like this song I'd actually like it a lot 4. Believer - I'm a huge Imagine Dragons fan, and I love the pseudo-rapped vocals, relatable lyrics, guitar, and bombast 5. Rockabye - underrated, electric song with a good message (I am also a sucker for Sean Paul's voice) 6. 1-800-273-8255 - great performances from 3 of pop's young stars and a great message, but the downer opening and lack of lyrical depth keeps it from the top 7. Water Under The Bridge - Adele is leagues above her peers vocally 8. Thunder - I know...but when I thought of it as a simple electronic song and not an alternative song it was on repeat for weeks. 9. Sign Of The Times - who knew before this year that Harry Styles was actually pretty good 10. Something Just Like This - I don't like the Chainsmokers' antics or their contribution to this song, but Chris Martin's presence sells it to me as a huge Coldplay fan and the guitar solo from Johnny Buckland is unexpected but awesome. Honorable Mentions Chained To The Rhythm Young Dumb & Broke Castle On The Hill I Feel It Coming To Good At Goodbyes Love On The Brain Praying
HM1: Yes! I knew you'd at least mention this one! I was surprised with how much I enjoyed it also. Might be in my own Top 10 for hit songs this year, if I'm being honest. HM2: Yeah, that's the same with me also. HM3: Eh... not that big into it. HM4: Dude, this song is definitely in my Top 10 also! HM5: First, I want to thank you for including Kendrick Lamar here. Seriously, he was probably the reason why it works as an honorable mention for me. However, Travis Scott has his own style that makes me like it on its own accord anyways. :) HM6: Kind of surprised that it wasn't at least #10 proper, but I expected you to mention it anyways. While I do disagree with Frank Ocean being the least memorable part of the song in question (he's honestly the most memorable part for me, at least thanks to his distinct singing style of his), it's definitely one of both Calvin Harris & Migos' best songs they've done yet, and I do find joy in it all the same, even knowing that Migos was on it also instead of just Calvin & Frank. HM7: Yeah, I somehow figured it would grow on you to be on here. I definitely get why, though! Probably would be on my lower end here for honorable mentions, but not bad all the same. Now for the actual list... #10: Yeah, I've heard this song on the radio every and then, and even though there's no music video for it, I I definitely say it's worth a Top 10 spot list here. Maybe a bit higher up, though. #9: Don't need to say anything that you didn't say earlier on this one. :) #8: Yes! I love this song so much, and it was honestly a candidate for #1 earlier this year, and it's honestly a great showcasing of how The Weeknd & Daft Punk work together as a team! And yes, a mixtape of sorts would be fantastic, but having The Weeknd being on a Daft Punk as their next hit single off of an upcoming Daft Punk album would be just as glorious to my eyes. :) #7: When I heard you talk about memes, I knew this was the song you'd bring up! While the memes I didn't particular care for that much (even though there were some videos I liked there), I can't help but be thankful for them helping the song chart longer than it probably would have otherwise. And you know what? If there's more great tracks that get to become great hits (like Daniel Caesar and Kali Uchis' Get You, for example) thanks to memes, I'd be down for those to happen instead of more Gucci Gang or 6ix9ine types of crap. Anyways, I think it's about right on this spot also, somewhat similar to #9 (Large) as well. #6: Should be a bit lower on here (maybe even honorable mentions), but I still like it anyways. :P #5: Remember when I said the #8 song here was a competitor for #1 for quite some time? I think this was one of those songs that started to overtake that song a bit. Honestly, if we get more songs like this charting (even if it's of a former One Direction member in Harry Styles), I'll accept that fact. If nothing else, it at least helps bring in more variety for a time like ours. #4: Honestly, I don't think I ever heard it as a whole yet. Also, I think it'd probably be a bit lower here, maybe even an honorable mention. Still, I can get why you like it that much. #3: And now we get into the Top 3 with the songs that I pretty much figured would take over those spots. And yes, they definitely deserved it in their own ways! This song truly has that sense of emotion that we don't normally get here (and kind of almost gets me teary-eyed at points), and if it weren't for these next two songs I'll be talking about, I would see it as a #1 song also! #2: This song is just the artist at the most badass we've seen this person become yet. Certainly the best song off of the album in question (or at least *one of the best* out there), and it's no doubt one of the best albums of the year for a reason! #1: Somehow, though, I figured this would be #1. And yeah, considering the history at hand, I can see why. While I also think it's one of the best songs on that album, it definitely showcased a sense of power we never would have otherwise. It's songs like those in particular that showcase exactly why those that think 2017 was a shit year for hit songs are *_horribly wrong_* in that regard!

You forgot PPAP
Where's the Ricegum's Distrack?
DTHKing Holy shit
Yes, Shape of You was overhated. I really like how it's produced, all the subtle textures make it a lot better than most tropical house. As soon as you notice that tiny knocking noise on the offbeat it becomes 100 times catchier.
Also I could listen to Ed tell me he's in love with my body all day tbh.
Sorry, I can't agree with this... that song is awful
Wow I can't believe you put It's Everyday Bro on your best list
Ahlun Lapis this isn't funny can you talk about what he's making the time to write for y'all

Kaylee F I'm happy too
Damn, Malibu grew on you a LOT.
Wonkey Dude98 I know right
I never expected 10:20 to grow on you so much, I literally guessed it as a joke.

I didn't really see a lot of controversy regarding Mark's picks, as I can defend them all. My Top 10 goes as follows:
Don't forget about Get You by Daniel Caesar & Kali Uchis! Seriously, that song is absolutely *beautiful,* and it deserves to chart this upcoming year!
For me, it's...

I loved the explanation for your number one. Seriously, great choice of words man.
Here's my list (straight up from the year-end 100, so it counts repeats)
1. Dua Lipa - New Rules
2. Lorde - Perfect Places
3. Tove Lo - Disco Tits
4. Ed Sheeran - Castle on the Hill
5. Harry Styles - Sign of the Times
6. Rick Ross - Idols Become Rivals
7. Jay-Z - The Story of O.J.
8. Migos - Slippery [ft. Gucci Mane]
9. Childish Gambino - Redbone
10. Kendrick Lamar - LOYALTY. [ft. Rihanna]
Ocean Sage No Humble or DNA do you know who Kendrick Lamar is
Kendrick is spitting on HUMBLE. & DNA. but I'd say LOYALTY. is the more enjoyable song to replay.
HM 3: DA CONTROVERSY
HM 4: Cash Money.
HM 5: Hey, he pressed his like.
HM 6: The best thing Migos has done ever in the history.
HM 7: I called this being on here.
10. The chorus hits like a truck and it's beautiful.
9. ay
8. I would like this less if it was a post-mortem MJ song.
7. bumbumbumbumbumbum
6. All time classic.
5. So much better than anything else the members of this band have made.
4. Eh.
3. This is equal to his other hit, but still really good.
2. he got some stuff in him.
1. A dose of perfection, right there.
Praying is one of the best hits of the decade without a doubt. The Hot 100 doesn’t deserve such amazing songs.
but it sux
Beth Hart has made that style of song since 1993. Learning to Live, Setting Me Free, At the Bottom, Leave the Light On, Hiding Underwater, St. Teressa and Love Is The Hardest are just some of those songs.
Really? That's the best you got? How does 'Praying' suck? Go listen to 'Blah Blah Blah' to hear what a bad Kesha song truly sounds like.
orlock20 Ok we get it. You like Beth Hart. And honestly it's boring to watch an artist make the same music their entire career.
Watching your best songs of 201X videos make me super happy. So much positivity and great music
Aww man, was expecting to see Havana somewhere haha. Great list though! :)
I have been waiting for this since August!!
I’m so glad All Time Low made the list! I feel like a lot of people forgot that song existed.
1. Bodak Yellow by Cardi B
2. Humble by Kendrick
3. New Rules by Dua Lipa
4. Mi Gente by J Balvin, Willy William, and Beyonce
5. Sign of the Times by Harry Styles
6. Praying by Kesha
7. Bad Liar by Selena Gomez
8. Havana by Camila Cabello
9. It Aint Me by Kygo and Selena Gomez
10. Feel it Still by Portugal. The Man
I've been relistening to "It Aint Me" a lot more recently and loving, so to see its praises here makes me so happy. Underrated song but such a gem. Same with Castle on the Hill :')
Great list Mark!
With the abundance of hip hop and all)
HM1: Don't consider it great, but it is a step in the right direction.
In regards to #9, I saw that happen in my home state when he did that concert there. Definitely made me proud of my home state in that regard! :D
Pretty solid list, Mark. Hard to disagree with any of your reviews, and only minor quibbles with some of your placements.

I'm very easy to please. I have hated every song Charlie Puth's ever put out, but the second I heard a good fucking bassline on pop radio, I converted to the Church of Puth.
If you like pop sO much.
redbone is 2016
Not gonna lie, I expected Strip That Down to make an appearance in the HMs at least considering what you said about it on Billboard Breakdown. And I was surprised to see What Ifs on there.
But this was a great list, and a well deserved #1.

Surprising list! I didn’t think Mo Bounce would be Number 1 (especially because it peaked at 117), but it’s your list, not mine.
OK to be serious this list is awesome
Mine would go a little more like this

7. You Already Know by Fergie ft. Nicki Minaj
6. Help Me Out by Maroon 5 ft. Julia Michaels

I LOVED this list! idk what I was expecting but it wasn't this :o
Great list, look forward to many more quality videos in future!
Praying is definitely the song of the year
n o it is is not l00k at adoseofbuckley's worst list
Oh please, no, no, don't let it be that way
Here's my list, girlies;
10. Dreamcatcher - Sleepwalking
9. Odd Eye Circle - Girl Front
8. Dreamcatcher - Chase Me
7. NCT - Cherry Bomb
6. AOA - Excuse Me
5. Gugudan - A Girl Like Me
4. Dreamcatcher - Good Night
3. Dreamcatcher - Fly High
2. Red Velvet - Rookie
1. Lovelyz - Wow
I still can’t get over that Buckley put Praying on his worst list because it was “boring”. One of the worst critics on UA-cam. I’m glad someone gave Kesha the credit she deserves
37willdog He's not really a critic. Just an edgelord comedian who keeps making the same points over and over again.
Buckley isn’t a critic, and if you take his opinion as anything more than a troll, you’re doing it wrong.
Damn, you are insecure
Well, I personally agree with Buckley. I think Praying is boring, but unlike him, I didn't put it on my worst list because it didn't bother me enough. If a boring song is to make it near my worst lists, it either needs to piss me off, or be so boring that it pisses me off. Praying does neither.
Buckley put praying on his top ten worst of the year and the whole time I am sitting there like this is one of the best songs I have ever heard this guy is crazy. Glad to see at least one other person agrees. Awesome video.
I just don't like shape of you because it's not interesting.
That's fair. Same reason I don't like Praying or Shallow.
Nailed your top 3 :)
Ok THAN YOU so much for including Daft Punk 😭 BEST CHANNEL LOVE YOU ALREADY
I think Castle On The Hill will be on everyone's best lists this year.
Delphox artv fucked it up
Thijs van asselt RIP
Delphox not on mine
Yeah. It's even on mine.
My favorite hit songs of 2017, using Mark's same parameters:
1- "Castle on the Hill" - Ed Sheeran
2- "Too Good at Goodbyes" - Sam Smith
3- "Malibu" - Miley Cyrus
4- "Praying" - Kesha
5- "It Ain't Me" - Kygo & Selena Gomez
6- "Chained to the Rhythm" - Katy Perry ft. Skip Marley
7- "Something Just Like This" - The Chainsmokers & Coldplay
8- "Rockabye" - Clean Bandit
9- "Feel It Still" - Portugal. The Man
10- "What About Us" - P!nk
My list
10. 24k Magic
9. Havana
8. I Feel It Coming
7. It Ain’t Me
6. Redbone
5. Sign Of The Times
4. All Time Low
3. Feel It Still
2. DNA
1. Castle On The Hill
Honourable Mentions
Humble
Rockabye
Praying
That’s What I Like
Say You Won’t Let Go (I really wanted to hate this)
There’s Nothing Holding Me Back
Despacito Original
Mans Not Hot (The Ting Goes)
Something Just Like This
Water Under The Bridge
wow ballzy move picking Look at Me at #1
Even funnier, he said in a tweet that he didn't hate the song, at all. The song placed above it in the year end list, do re mi, made it in the worst list, think about that
Astrid Parungao link that tweet please, I need to see it to believe it
My list (btw I like every single song that you picked for this list. That is extremely rare):
Hm 1- Slow Hands by Niall Horan: the catchiest guitar melody all year, and I actually really dig the effect that is used on both the percussion and the vocals
Hm 2- Feels by Calvin Harris ft. Katy Perry, Big Sean, and Pharrell: An insanely fun and enjoyable pop song that, while shallow, is still very well executed
Hm 3- Havana by Camilla Cabello ft. Young Thug- this song is the easiest to like and appreciate, with its jazzy-Latin vibe, Camilla actually understating her vocals, and a brilliant trumpet solo. I'm prepared to see this on everybody else's top 10 lists
Hm 4- Young, Dumb, and Broke by Khalid- this song puts a smile on my face every time I listen to it because of it's fun but chilled-out nature. And unlike Mark, I really dig that post chorus mumble
Hm 5- Shape of You by Ed Sheeran: Sure, it got overplayed to shit, but the hook is fun and catchy, the lyrics are arrogant but understandable, and the deeper African-inspired grove on the chorus is immensely enjoyable
Hm 6- Humble by Kendrick Lamar: Brag trap rap at its finest. This would have easily made the list proper if it was a year like 2016 or 2014
Hm 7- Feel it Still by Portugal. The Man:I actually really enjoy the falsetto, and the groove is possibly the best of the entire year
10. Slide by Calvin Harris ft. Frank Ocean & Migos- the perfect laid-back summer song (sorry Khalid). Frank Ocean delivers a weirdly-structured verse, but it transitions perfectly to Migos, whose flows, especially offset's, match perfectly with this groove
9. All Time Low by Jon Bellion- the most embarrassing song to become a hit since Marvin's Room. The off-kilter vibe is enough to make me love it, but Jon's clever usage of diction and wordplay make it extraordinary
8. Water Under the Bridge by Adele- Not much to say. While not nearly as good as When we were Young, it still kills as 25's final single
It also is politically charged while being romantic (kind of like These Walls by Kendrick)
4. Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran- this song has a similar concept to my favorite hit song of last year, 7 years, but it improves upon the concept in every conceivable way. This song is easily Ed's best hit song of all time (at least in the U.S.)
3. Sign of the Times by Harry Styles- this is a song that you just don't get in today's age. A rock ballad with metaphorically powerful lyrics and some of the best vocals of any former boy band member? I must be dreaming
2. Praying by Kesha- easily the most emotionally powerful hit song of the last three years (that's including Take Me to Church). This is the best that I've ever heard vocally from Kesha, and lyrically it packs a punch even if you don't know the backstory
1. This song is just extremely kickass
As for your other picks: 24k Magic, I Feel it Coming, and Goosebumps were all close to making my list, There's Nothing Holding Me Back was good but not good enough to make my list, and while I haven't fully listened to What Ifs, that chorus sounds really fucking great
1 castle on the hill
2 feels
3 DNA
4 slide
5 slow hands
6 sign of the times
7 feel it still
8 goosebumps
9 uptown funk 2
10 I feel it coming
I already knew what was in your Top 3, especially number one since you never shut up about her. Good video regardless.

chris zanotti I can laugh too when I look at your playlist :)
Hey Mark. We've had differing opinions, but high five for putting Kesha at #1. It was definitely the most deserved hit of the year.
Loving the use of the term 'heel turn' during your discussion of #9.
I saw Kendrick Lamar this year too. It was the best experience I had in 2017
10. Havana - Camila Cabelo 9. Feel It Still - Portugal. The Man 8. I Feel It Coming - The Weekend ft Daft Punk 7. Praying - Kesha 6. DNA - Kendrick Lamar 5. Sign of the Times 4. 24k Magic - Bruno Mars 3. Castle on the Hill - Ed Sheeran 2. Green Light - Lorde 1. Humble - Kendrick Lamar
WOW I did not expect that #6. I knew you liked it, but I didn't expect it to grow on you like this, but I 100% agree.
My top 10 (song had to hit top 20 or be on year end hot 100)
10: Water under the bridge by Adele
9: Paris by the chainsmokers
8: New Rules Dua lipa
7: Love on the brain by Rihanna
6: Wild thoughts by DJ Khalid and Rihanna
5: Loyalty by Kendrick Lamar feat Rihanna (what can I say it was a good year for her)
4: Million reasons by lady gaga
3: it ain’t me by Kygo and Selena Gomez
2: Green light by lorde
1: Praying by kesha (obvious choice is obvious)
And because why not, some songs that would be on the top ten if they charted:
Tell me you love me by Demi Lovato
Hard times by Paramore
Fake happy by paramore
Perfect places by lorde
Young by the chainsmokers
The louvre by lorde
Spaceship by Kesha
Galway Girl by Ed Sheran
Getaway car by Taylor Swift
Strangers by Halsey
When I was young by Mø
This life is mine from the RWBY soundtrack (don’t judge me)
Twili Link Perfect Places and Galway Girl would’ve been my top 2 on my best list if they had been hits here.
Here we go. Going to predict his top 3: Praying, DNA & Castle on the hill/Sign of the times. Let's see how wrong I am.
you know what is even wilder about DNA is that that beat was created around the rapping as opposed to the other way around
I think this is one of the best lists you've made - besides All Time Low. Idk, I can't exactly jam with that. Other than that, great #1, live that you put Harry on here, Kendrick being in here twice is well deserved. Awesome list!
Saiyara Rahman I know rockstar is a great number 1
Squid Ward No one ever even mentioned Rockstar. And no it's not.
This is my list:
HMs

my top 5.
1. Havana
2. Sign of the Times
3. Praying
4. The Weekend/Love Galore
5. Titibo-Tibo (it's a local hit here in the Philippines. It's an amazing, although a little controversial lyrically, song. Check it out pls.)
it's an amazing song tbh. and gets much better when you know more about Kesha herself.
Not gonna lie. I hate Titibo-Tibo. It just rubs me the wrong way. But hey thats my opinion.
Love how you gave recognition to “Water Under the Bridge”. I won’t ever understand how it didn’t chart higher. Honestly one of the best songs on ‘25’.
I don't think Adele promoted it and there only concert videos of it.
Good list !

5. LOYALTY.
6. Slide
7. Castle On The Hill
8. Side To Side
9. Wild Thoughts
10. Goosebumps
Also I swear I feel like the only person that doesnt like 24k Magic _that much_
I have to say I absolutely love Bruno Mars for the same exact reasons you stated. He’s a throwback to my 80’s decade music 😬
Honorable mentions- there's nothing holding me back, feel it still, shape of you, 24k magic, goosebumps, slide,( what ifs(my personal favorites of so far)
Selena Gomez has improve a lot this year
I mean she's trying she's trying she's trying she's trying
Hey 777 Nah, she's been a regular on Mark's lists for years now.
Shocked "Slide" is only a honorable mention. He hinted several times that it'd definitely make the list.
Even though I don't dig this song too much
SilverWing 644 that shows you how good the year actually was for music
SilverWing 644 he likes the other Funk wav bounces singles more, slide was just the largest hit, probably wouldve been on there if it were heatstroke.
My Top 5
5. Cardi B - Bodak Yellow
4. Havana - Camila Cabello
3. Kesha - Praying
2. Charlie Puth - Attention
1. The Chainsmokers - Something Just Like This
List Proper
1. What Ifs - pop perfection in a love song with country instrumentation and flair
2. Feel It Still - awesome alternative throwback jam, I love the horn section as a trumpet player
3. DNA. - if rap was lyrically like this song I'd actually like it a lot
4. Believer - I'm a huge Imagine Dragons fan, and I love the pseudo-rapped vocals, relatable lyrics, guitar, and bombast
5. Rockabye - underrated, electric song with a good message (I am also a sucker for Sean Paul's voice)
6. 1-800-273-8255 - great performances from 3 of pop's young stars and a great message, but the downer opening and lack of lyrical depth keeps it from the top
7. Water Under The Bridge - Adele is leagues above her peers vocally
8. Thunder - I know...but when I thought of it as a simple electronic song and not an alternative song it was on repeat for weeks.
9. Sign Of The Times - who knew before this year that Harry Styles was actually pretty good
10. Something Just Like This - I don't like the Chainsmokers' antics or their contribution to this song, but Chris Martin's presence sells it to me as a huge Coldplay fan and the guitar solo from Johnny Buckland is unexpected but awesome.
Honorable Mentions
Chained To The Rhythm
Young Dumb & Broke
Castle On The Hill
I Feel It Coming
To Good At Goodbyes
Love On The Brain
Praying
HM6: Kind of surprised that it wasn't at least #10 proper, but I expected you to mention it anyways.
#8: Yes! :)
#7: When I heard you talk about memes, I knew this was the song you'd bring up!
#5: Remember when I said the #8 song here was a competitor for #1 for quite some time?
My list:
HM1: Attention - Charlie Puth
HM2: Young, Dumb and Broke - Khalid

Whoa. Damn this is the greatest day of my existence lol
How is shape of you on the list? However besides that I think the list is solid especially your number 1 pick. That’s what you call a comeback.
Until I heard Praying I had no idea Kesha could actually sing and had a decent voice 😳
Loved the top 10, just a detail, the high note in Praying isn't a whistle, just a really, really high head voice
10. 'Scars to Your Beautiful' by Alessia Cara
9. 'T-Shirt' by Migos
8. 'DNA' by Kendrick Lamar
7. 'Stay' by Zedd and Alessia Cara

6: Not sure.
5: Would put it slightly lower.
4: YES!
3: YES!
2: YES!
1: NO! I actually found this really dull. I'd put "That's What I Like" here.
