Johnny Cox is my uncle. I'm so grateful for this video. I was born about a month before his last game as a wildcat so I really never got to see him play. Of course, I've heard the stories all my life... but getting to see him in action is quite a treat!!!

Elgin Baylor, senior season at Seattle University: 32 points and 19 rebounds a game, on 50% shooting.

Quite possibly the first UK game my dear father was able to view. If he wasn't already a dedicated UK basketball fan before this game, he certainly was from this game onward. Dad died in 1983 but that fandom within our family still exists today with me and my son and daughter.

Stall Ball. Get lead and play keep away. They definitely improved the game when they introduced the shot clock!

Not really stall ball in this game, but the shot clock was a great idea. It thankfully put an end to Dean Smith and that cowardly, lame ass four corners BS.

Kentucky basketball and overachieving should never be said in the same sentence. They always get the top talent.

A friend of mine attended this game as a 15-year-old, buying his ticket _at the gate,_ believe it or not. The NCAA final 4 was not a guaranteed sell out yet.
My friend said Adolph Rupp ordered the Wildcats to force Elgin Baylor to the left, because scouting films showed he loved to drive to his right.
I joked that this was the beginning of movement to the left on college campuses. 😉

I rememebr watching in the late 70s and 80s as a kid. We had a tv and 5 or 6 friends of my dads would come over and watch the UK game. Great memories

Todays basketball resembles more of a mix between basketball and football compared to the old days. Thanks for posting a real treat to watch. I grew up with the jump ball, the possession arrow is for the birds.

I always wondered what players of that era would think if they could see todays game. Unreal watching a game where there is almost no physical contact.

It’s hard to believe that after this great season, Seattle U. disappeared as a basketball power. Eligin Baylor was one of the very best ball players of all time - maybe the best. It just seemed that there was no one else on that team, and the recruiting coup that got Elgin from Washington, D.C. was not followed upon.
Two other universities in the city have arisen from time to time - Pacific and the University of Washington, while Seattle U. has been dormant in the sport.

Kentucky still using the underhand shooting on free throws, and not much jumping when throwing long. Seattle more modern. It was a transitional time.

As an American, I'm sickened that in my lifetime there were still these disgusting segregationist policies. Instead of our country becoming united, they did everything they could to prevent societal unity, trying to preserve a past that a half million men had to die to try to end. NOTHING I said was "casual". Jim crow was a cancer to this nation!@@sliimeY2K
