- The first game was one of the most exciting of the entire season. Would the second game live up to the hype? It sure would, with an entertaining high scoring affair.

Bottom line during the 2011-12 season, Indiana won the game at home and Kentucky won the game that mattered!
SO true and Indiana fans are still replaying the watford shot. And arent smart enough to realize UK won a title that year.
@@hobsonschoice8649 , Go back and look at the replay of the game earlier in the season in December, 2011 at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, and Kentucky had one of, if not the poorest offensive performance they'd had all season. They weren't making outside shots, they weren't making free throws, they fell behind Indiana by 10 points late in the 2nd-half, and with all that it still took Watford hitting a "hail Mary, full of grace, the lord is with thee" 25 or 30 footer at the buzzer to beat the Cats that night. Unfortunately for Indiana, they ran into a much more accurate reflection of how good this Kentucky team really was here in the Sweet Sixteen in "Catlanta".
@@GBeret83 just wondering how many fellow Cats fans noticed that UK's first bucket (Jones' three at 4:17) in this game mirrors Watford's famous shot. What an awesome coincidence.
And Indiana got rings for that... As ridiculous as Bob Knight on the sideline
anyone realize ky beat everyone on their schedule that year. Vandy and indiana were their 2 loses and we beat both at some point. The way the cats played in the tournament was dominant. Everyone played their role. Fun team to watch.
This was such a sweet tournament for Kentucky because they got to send three arch rivals in Indiana, Louisville, & Kansas asses packing during their title run!
GBeret83 fuck you
@@saunders317 , Ouch that really stung. And said with such hate and disdain too, as to invoke the ghost of Bobby Knight. Shiver, shiver, shiver......................I got the all over fidgeties on that one, LMFAO.
Matt Saunders 😂🤦♂️😂🤦♂️ SALTY
Let’s not forget the buzzer beater in the regular season a year earlier
@@SammyBoy818 Yes, but WHO ended up gettin the last laugh big boy?
Anthony Davis was on the bench for 95% of the 1st half lol. This game could of been a blow out
NO OTHER PROGRAM IN ANY SPORT THAT HAS AS MANY FANS AS KENTUCKY!!! GR8NESS!!!! I was at this game all blue, but Indiania had a pretty good showing. NOT as much as UK though.
I rather have a championship than the "best shot in regular season ever."
im an indiana fan, but i have to say, even though this was a loss, this was the most exciting game of that tournament, all props to Kentucky, was a real fist fight until the last 10 minutes
looks like a huge FAIL in the sweet sixteen for the second year in a row....
When you watch the court storm Indiana did after the last second 3point shot win… you gotta understand why coach Cal will only let UK play Indiana if it’s at a neutral sight every year. The players are in to much danger on that small court/gym when a flood of people do that. Miller was on the ground & was knocked back down by fans. Not worth it
Did anyone else notice UK's first basket in this game is eerily similar to the shot that beat them in the first game?
As a kentucky fan, this game was so sweet to revenge lol.
Maybe so, but that Wolford shot was sooo sweet!
I think it's funny how Louisville fans make fun of how ignorant Kentucky fans are but yet they come and troll the comments on Kentucky-related UA-cam videos. There's ignorant fans in every fanbase, including Kentucky's, but I hate when people just assume all Kentucky fans are just crazy and don't know what they're talking about
Thank you..I agree 110%
Kentucky Wildcats fans get a bad reputation because they've been in the news for doing insane stuff. Like contacting the ref and threatening his life because Kentucky lost to North Carolina in 2017 NCAA tournament. This was also reported by ESPN and other major news outlets. The FBI got involved. There was a incident when a teenage boy attacked his grandparents over UK losing to UL in football and his salad in 2015! You can't make this stuff up! Kentucky fans have a reputation of doing unlawful stuff.
Louisville Cardinals university like to break laws by providing hookers! They had a problem with leadership but they fired the 2 most responsible and the 3rd has been gone for years. Louisville fans aren't making major news outlets for threatening refs over a collegiate game.
This, for my money, was the best game of the tournament. After that incredible first game in Bloomington, the stakes were even higher - UK out for revenge, IU out to repeat. And the play on both sides was incredible - IU played probably as well as we could have, and we STILL lost by 12.
UK got their toughest test of the tourney - and came through with a performance that would beat lesser NBA teams on a given night. Damned impressive - and I'm a Hoosier fan.
I don't understand all the bitching about foul calls being lopsided when with 3 and a half left in the game Indiana had 1 more foul then Kentucky. which is when Indiana started fouling to prolong the game.
It's just pathetic excuse making by half grown fools who can't accept things for how they are.
It was really classy of Indiana to not keep fouling at the end of the game when they were down 12. Much respect. I had never seen KY shoot free throws like they did in that game.
one of the best teams I've ever watched.
sad that they left, miss this team
@Ryan I., I've said this many times over the past few years, for as talented as Kentucky's starting five was with this team, I don't think they win the National Title without the play they got from Darius Miller coming off the bench as their 6th man, IMO. He was the most talented and unheralded 6th man in the entire country that season. GO CATS!!!
@@GBeret83 Agree 100 percent. He was the glue guy. Great player.
@@cryptix808 did Darius miller win 6th man of the year that sesson?
That's UK vs UofL which is, at least in my opinion, nowhere near the rivalry as IU UK, It's still a huge huge rivalry but IU UK is historic and has been going on for many years, it's simply just a gigantic rivalry/game every year in college bball. You have to take things into account from last year also. UK was #1, we were undefeated, the passion for basketball at IU is at its highest right now, probably the highest its ever been.
"Indiana Basketball: We beat Kentucky on a last second--hey, come back!"
or better yet
Championships won by Kentucky: 8
Championships won by Indiana: 5
Even better...
NCAA "Death Penalty"....Kentucky 2
NCAA "Death Penalty"...Indiana 0
Jeff Nicholson Kelvin Sampson got Iu the death penalty
@@jeffnicholson7056 hey dumbass, UK has never received the so-called "death penalty". But, everyone think IWho has...they've been irrelevant for decades.
@@msh6865 ..hey dumbass....Google it. 1953 & 1989.
@@cadekelly3777 ...no. IU got probation. There is a difference.
Let's look at the 2011 NCAA tournament when Kentucky was in the final four and Louisville got eliminated in the first round by Morehead State. 2013 was the 1 year in probably 50 that Louisville could say they were better than Kentucky.
Coach Cal would always put the brakes on when they started blowing people out but I would have liked to have seen them keep rolling over people............
MKG played this game like he was possessed man I tell you. GO CATS!!!!

Championships won by Crean: 0

@@RAC130 I WAS a uk fan when college basketball meant something and well before the metoo BS. Now I just see it for the hypocrites that it is!
Even though Indiana lost this game, I loved there fight against a great Kentucky team. All respect to Kentucky they are a great team but Indiana fought hard and almost won the second time vs 1 national champion Kentucky
Bitter? We won a championship more recently then you did. And we beat you Looisers on the way.
Check out Crean's tweet that he says was to a recruit: "I am doing great. I have been thinking about you alot since last weekend. A whole lot. How are you doing?"
I guess he should be called Creepy Crean.
this game makes me even more mad about cal ruining this rivalry just so he could avoid a possible loss at rupp. cal is scheming to get records, and will do it by any means. that includes keeping the longest home winning streak by not playing anyone at home.
Most people don't realize it but four of the five UK starters were first round picks, the other (Doron Lamb) was a second rounder. That team was amazing.
I still don't get how Lamb didn't make it in the NBA when I see so many guards who shoot poorly and sit the bench. Then again, Jones had some stand out games in the NBA, but hasn't been in it for years while guys like Gabriel, Knox, and Richards are. And MKG was picked way too high.
That stare of coach drew said it all “no matter who wins this game we’re fkd!” 😂😂 29:27
Found myself watching Calipari and Crean pace the court as much as I did the game
Indiana was Kentucky's first loss, but the game that pissed John Calipari off the most was UK vs. Arkansas-Little Rock in Louisville, because at halftime, UALR had a 30-27 lead although Kentucky stormed back and won 73-51, had a huge decisive edge on rebounding but had 19 turnovers.
I am a Kentucky fan but I will say that Indiana is going to be great next year. Zeller, Watford, and Oladipo are coming back. And now they got a true point guarf Yogi Ferrell and a pretty good forward named Jeremy Hollowell to spark them off the bench.
I was there on my birthday, for my 16th birthday, during the sweet 16, watching my favorite team kick ass
That was a great, high-scoring game, but I really felt like poor officiating had a lot to do with that. I know I'm going to catch flack from Indiana fans because of the free throw discrepancy, but Kentucky has been on the short end of that stick many times before, too...It's just part of the game.
If only more college games could be played at this pace.. This was a shoot out pure and simple.. I know some will say the defense sucked, but I see 2 teams that executed on offense at a high level and put on a great show... I hate freaking games that end in a 60-56 score.. This was a 40 minute game that ended with a NBA score. That's what I like to see: right or wrong.
A meaningless win? I'm not an Indiana fan,but come on now. Kentucky got the last laugh when it matter the most. But that shot will go down as one of the greatest in regular season history .For two reason: one Kentucky should have been an undefeated team. It's crazy how well this team flowed together the chemistry was so great. The Second and most important it made Indiana basketball relevant again. This win brought confidence in Indiana basketball after Kelvin Sampson killed the program.
True Last year's UK team was a rare and one of a kind team that had a great combination of athleticism and fundamental for a calipari team. And that's what it's takes in today's baskeball. But Knight would ruin last year's UK team. With Knight either you fit his program or you sit the bench.Calipari finds a way to make the program fit the players and last year it just happen to fit perfectly. This year their struggling but could make a run in tourney.
Kentucky had so much talent to where only one or two players were required to have an above average game they did'nt have to foce anything like IU did.IU made a clear effort to prevent Davis and Jones from dominating the inside which would have led to a blowout so Lamb and Miller step up with outside shooting.Davis did not get to showcase his full talent not only is Davis more athletic than zeller but he also has an outside shot Not to mention he effortlessly blocked zeller late in the game
Scared lmao, IU caught alotta teams off guard last year being that they've been off the radar so long plus the help of the notourious assembly hall refs you had a decent season.Calipari has alotta respect for Tom Cream and told the team to fall back in both games just as he did in the championship game against Kansas.Kentucky front line would crush Zeller and Woffard this year you better be lucky
Kentucky won this game at the free throw line (22 more free throws than Indiana), because Indiana shot 52% (36 of 69), and Kentucky shot 48% (31-64). Other opponents which Kentucky won against at the free throw line were Louisville (20-62 FG, Kentucky was 17-57) & Alabama (48% shooting, 24-50 FG, UK was 22-51 43%). Both games were at Rupp Arena.
Finally. A civilized and mature IU fan. Well, they made the deal after Kentucky had already scheduled a team on the proposed date so what could they have done? I never understood why IU fans were so up in arms about a neutral site series when it was on neutral courts from 1991-2005 so it's not like it would have been a first.
Trust me i think UK is a great program to the only thing that bothers me is there coach Calipari. Im just not a Calipari fan, but hey i hope Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist both do great in the NBA. It just kills me to watch the UK and IU rivalry end just because they cant decide where to play.
You said Kentucky won the Tournament matchup by making a few more shots and free throws. I mentioned that Indiana won the regular season meeting cause UK missed key free throws. How is that different from what you were talking about?
Hahaha Damn, that NC drought is really getting to these IU fans if they really think that. One day, maybe one day, you will get to see IU win a NC and then you will know why a regular season shot is meaningless.
It was actually a good game plan for teams to foul UK instead of give up the easy baskets in the paint. Watch all these games and the majority of the fouls were in the paint. It was either foul UK or give them the easy basket.
Whats even more sad is you have a team that starts in the top 5 beginning of the season and you cant even get to the NCAA tournament and you get beat in the 1st round by Robert Morris. Thats whats sad
i love my cats but if they do not get it together pretty fast it could be a short season for us but next year will be a different story if they land randle to go with the class that they have coming in
"And the KENTUCKY coronation is complete!"
I hope the Indiana Hoosiers will make it back to the final four in 2020
Indiana brought their A game here (They shot well and hit their free throws) but Kentucky was just that much better and to their credit they missed only 2 free throws.
It was a great game for sure, but Louisville played us very hard as well. Still, your Hoosiers are a much better team this year than UK. As a lifelong UK fan, I wish we could've played another game last year. These games were awesome and you should be proud of the effort of your Hoosiers!
Spin it however you want to champ, but the fact remains, Louisville doesn't have 8 National Championships in all your sports COMBINED. You are still that snot nosed little brother. Deal with it.
IU no championships since...1987...HAHAHAHHAHA...YESSS...The biggest win in school history was a last second regular season home win...HAHAHAH...Pathetic....
Agreed. I've seen some pathetic displays from fans of schools like Mississippi State but how the IU fans acted makes those MSU fans look like saints.
This is how you should play basketball nightly, none of this defensive constipation. Let the athletes be skilled and graceful not shut down and neutered.
This is proof of why the IU/UK series needs to continue, and why it's such a shame Cal turned down Crean - that deal (2 games at Lucas Oil Stad., one at Rupp, one at the Hall) was a great compromise. Both sides got what they wanted.
Why he turned it down I still can't say. I won't be one of the IU fans who says "he's scared of us", because what's there to be scared of? He won a national championship. He has Rupp Arena as his homecourt. He's on top of the world. A shame he won't make it happen.
I will have to agree that team was so perfectly balanced everyone fit their positions perfectly.Which is something that could be a problem this year similar talent but you got 5 explosives players that constantly need the ball at all times. You've go no Lamb or Miller that can move without ball.Noel I think is more physical than Davis but not nearly as fundamentally sound.
Only team that has ever built a shrine for a Sweet 16 team too. Hell, they would have built the shrine if they had lost in the first round.
What if this team had all came back!! just wishful thinking. Would have loved to seen them against the Ville, after a year of that experience for Louisville
.
This is a good thing to watch after watching the disgrace of a kentucky team I had to cheer for this year
Yeah, and all of the IU fans rushed their home floor just because they managed to get one over on UK. So badass.
And if Kentucky had made their free throws in the final minute of that December meeting, IU would never have won.
Indiana didn't have the referees to save them in this game like they did in Indiana.
You guys should send your sweet 16 banners over to Rupp so that the UK fans can use them as toilet paper.
Okay you won another championship that makes 3. Talk to me when you have 8 titles and the best recruiting class in the country.
Kentucky proved that you can challenge a high-volume offense team like Indiana, or Michigan by being very tough defensively.
You know UK wanted to kick their ass. Look @ Lamb glare after hitting his first 3. Revenge
this is the only thing i will agree with you on.... i am a huge iu fan and i was glad to see knight go!
It's sad that IU fans are obessed with that shot. Especially after we beat you in Sweet Sixteen.
and by the way i will take an elite 8 win over a regular season win anyday GO KENTUCKY!!!!!!!.
Jesus Christ 35-37 dang and yeah Indiana basketball is back lol
actually, it's 2 in 20 and 3" in over 20" (21). the 1993 team lost to kansas in the elite 8. the 2002 team lost to Maryland in the championship.
I'm from Tennessee, but i live in Louisville, both fanbases are pretty much over the edge. I was on Broadway after Louisville won the title, and i was in Louisville when UK beat them in the Final Four, it was crazy both times. I see it first hand where i live.
pritchard's botched dunk was the momentum swinger in the game. daammn it priiittcharrrd
I honestly believe this was the best team BBN faced last year. They could win it this year :o
if Indiana has Verdell Jones, this game would have ended drastically different.
if you could get Indiana-VCU uploaded I'd be so, so grateful. I can't find it anywhere online. Thanks!
Sure do, I should have Kansas-UNC up sometime tomorrow. I'll be uploading other games from the tournament in the next couple of weeks as well.
Can't we just get all these guys back and have a rematch without worrying about who wins
Both teams shot the ball extremely well, but Kentucky's defense (cases in point: Davis staying out of foul trouble, and Jones not lagging around offensively and defensively) was a major reason reason why they won.
I agree. I was really sad that IU lost but they had a good showing. Scoring 90 against UK was nice and if UK hadnt been an absurd 35/37 from the free line it could have been another buzzer beater
I was at that game, it was crazy. UK got some payback and it was a great time!
I would give an arm and a leg if the Harrison's, Young, Poythress, and Marcus Lee could "copy" the "Game" that this Championship Team exhibit(ed). They ABSOLUTELY CAN when We PLAY AS TEAM. As what We exhibited during the finally, very exciting and fulfiling Win...The Louisville Game a few Nights ago!! When I think about Us beating the Cards, it still makes Me smile.
Ahh, I LONG for Us to simply PLAY TO OUR POTENTIAL. We proved; even without Randle the 2nd Half of Our Win, We can STILL be a Team...You saw Andrew grit His teeth after His "And 1" play late in the Game...They REALLY do enjoy each other; Our Players. However they must become EVEN closer as both Teammates, AND as "true Friends. And this Team IS CAPABLE of MUCH.
It's "Big Boy" time. I just LOVE Kentucky Basketball; It's My obsession. I still have High hopes for this Season for sure. If only We can play like We played that 2nd Half against Louisville against Our upcoming Opponents this Season. But again, HIGH HOPES! Watching Games like this just cause You to reflect, and make a Kentucky Fan feel awesome. GO BIG BLUE! I live #BBN !!!
You have to admit they are getting better.
I dunno Man...I just dunno. =/
Methinks, We'll be an early Out in March.
CellarDoorx06 What do you think now?
ukhistorian Oh, don't worry! I'm a Man of My Word, and I stand by what I say. So in this case, I have to say...Having watched this absolutely unprecedented run by Our Boys in Blue My words in February completely was FOOT IN MOUTH! Hahaha. And I love it! I'm NEVER so happy to have been so absolutely WRONG!
GO BIG BLUE! LETS BRING IT ALL HOME THIS WEEKEND HERE IN TEXAS! ^_^
ukhistorian With the return of the Harrisons, Cauley-Stein, Lee, Johnson, and Poythress to go along with the group we have coming in, I can't wait til next season.
Losing by nine combined points is not an ass kicking.
Don't forget Miller, he was a second rounder as well.
Jones was just as talented as anyone on the team
35-37 from the line. Remarkable
That's what I loved bout this team, they didn't care about highlight reels, or flashy dunk, only thing that mattered was winning...
i would like to see us play each other next year.
although Kentucky won this game (I am an IU fan) I still think it was better than the first one as far as shear competitiveness. Back and forth baskets all game and a high final score. I was at this game and I must say that UK fans in person are a lot nicer than on espn comments and youtube comments. its kinda pathetic the stuff that is said on here. its a game, not your life
I have never been cussed at or flipped off more then by the un classy IU fan base.
I'd believe that lol you wouldn't want to be wearing any other color than red/white inside assembly hall
Paul N IU fans are some of the worst. You should see the video of that December matchup where the IU fans were making insulting chants toward a UK fan as he was leaving. What a classless bunch. Makes me glad they're back to being sucky. They don't deserve to see another title.
GreenDay1981 HAHAHAHA!!!!!
youre joking right? because UK fans were far worse when we played at a neutral site...UK are the definition of classless
incorrect...not even close...I was on crutches and they tried to kick them out from under me...your dreaming!
This game is as high of a level as you will see college basketball played these days. Pros on both teams.
One team had pro(s). The other eer umm singular.
@@michaelstilger8410 "Singular" Oladipo and Zeller from Indiana both went top 5 in the same draft you clown.

LMAO at the 24:02 mark - Jones made up for the first game - came out in "beast" mode!
I would rip on IU for their post season efforts, but no one really remembers or cares what IU did. Lost another sweet 16 to someone and lost their best players to the draft. Please, keep piling on the Robert Morris comments. It makes going into this season that much sweeter as the team favored to dominate this season. Have fun pretending that IU is still relevant for yet another season.
i was at this game and baylor game... this was a great game so much intensity and electricity
to be fair, it was a great shot.

Indiana fans were so smug after they beat us on a buzzer beater at home. We shut their asses up in the Tournament. Glad to see Indiana likely won't make the NCAA Tournament for a 3rd straight year. Indiana's back? The hell it is!
You guys also handed out sweet sixteen rings. They make sweet sixteen rings or did IU make them themselves?
