Bro, you must be a wizard! How do you know what songs I need to learn and drop videos of them!? 7 months into my guitar playing, I absolutely appreciate your approach; you are pushing me to think wider than power chords. May God richly bless you for blessing us!!!!
Bro, your videos are really good! Can you do a video of some of your go too licks during worship and maybe some tips on how to be more creative and finding placement in songs. That would be very helpful.
That's a great idea! I'll do that for one of my upcoming videos. I'm definitely not as much of a lead guitarist, but it's important to have a few "go-to" licks and to have good lead technique so that you can incorporate lines into your rhythm guitar.
Tyron Thompson it's a slow process, but the more parts you learn and the more attention you pay to what's happening behind them you will start to build a base for what works and what doesn't. I know that doesn't exactly help, but it's the fastest way to begin understanding the thought behind the process.
Hey Kristal. The quick answer would be to simply slide the same chord "shapes" up or down to the key you want to play in. So, if you're wanting to lift it up to Ab, you'd play the shapes two frets higher up than shown here. That's a great thing about guitar. We can play the same chord shapes as we move to other keys. Of course you can only go so far before you have to switch to other shapes. Hope this helps!
Hey man! It's a Badd9, so instead of the 2 replacing the 3, we have 1, 5, 2, 3 (on the 6th, 5th, 4th and 3rd strings respectively). You just add it in (like a keyboard player). That's the depth you hear in the chord. And if you strum all the way through strings 2-6, you get another 5 as well: 1, 5, 2, 3, 5. I love that chord. Use it all the time when I want to take up more space.

Hey man, check out the new video on "The Anthem" by Todd Dulaney. I cover some lead principles near the end!

That Mario Martin tho!!!
Loving it! Played just about every strat in Atl. Suhr, Fender Custom, Nash. The Mario Martin won every time. Great instrument.
