    Hey guys, what do you think of the Jackman? Pretty Marshall esque, or nah? Also here's another Bantamp review! ua-cam.com/video/arMDmmTzH9M/v-deo.html

    That amp sounds pretty cool. it definitely has that marshall sound. with the first 2 boost pedals, it sounds like it's suitable for sludge, doom, and stoner metal. with the tube screamer, it definitely sounds suitable for modern and thrash metal. I personally like how it sounded with the tube screamer.

    The Joyo stuff blows me away. that thing is pretty impressive. I did notice a fair amount of crackle with the Fortin 33v pedal. even after dialing the level down. didn't seem to happen when running through the cab sim. I'm actually thinking about getting one of these to travel with just for size. another killer video man.

    I got the jackman 2 and the zombie 2, I play them both through seperate 4x12 marshall code 412 cabinets, using a a/b/y splitter to send the guitar signal to both amps.
    The built in distortion channel on these amps are great, the jackman gives me a jcm sound, and the zombie gives me a mesa boogie rectifier sound.
    Dont be fooled by their size or 20w rating, these amps are loud as hell.
    I put my valve heads away and use these nowerdays, that's how much they impressed me.

      Yes and no
      If you can find a compatible cab with a small speaker then yes.
      If you got 1x12 or bigger like most would have, no. It's still too damn loud specially in a flat. Not unless you can find a way to manage the volume.
      In my experience it goes like this. Around 9 o'clock it's not loud enough for the stage but a bit too loud for the room (depends how big the area). Go higher and then it's really loud. Experiences will vary.

      The Harley Benton cabs are pretty outstanding in their price to performance ratio. I have two of the slanted 2x12 cabs with v30's. They rip. The only thing that I don't like about them compared to my Mesa 4x12 is the highs are a little shrill, but not anything you can't EQ out.

    I think what you might be hearing is blocking distortion. It happens with my Ampeg VL which is a jcm800 based amp and if you push the gain controls to high it will do a very similar thing but in a more pleasing way if you like sludgey doomy tones. Pitted it against my 120 watt head. Naturally the 120 watt dominated it.... however.... if you're looking for a lightweight substitute for band practice this thing is f*c$ing great! Sounds best on a 2x12 in my opinion (the low end stays in tact longer than in a 4x12). At the end of the day it's unbeatable for the price point, if you have an eq pedal in the effects loop you'll never need to haul your pricey head to the jam space ever again

    Keep that tube screamer gain way down and just use the level up max to boost it. Even JCM’s sound better with gain backed way off and just level up. Like a clean boost. Use a tube screamer model on my HX Effects with the JaCkMan and also heavily eq it to get it to sound like an actual JCM. I favor it with delay and reverb too. Pretty much the same things you need to make a JCM sound great minus the EQ part.

      That's normally how I would run it. But I like having the drive option if I can't quite get pinch harmonics or pick scrapes out of an amp. This has more to do with my bias towards trying to make everything sound like a high gain metal machine rather than where the amp sounds the best 😂🤔😪

    these amps need an EQ pedal or multi-FX unit in the FX loop. I own this exact amp. I run a cheap Zoom G1XOn in the FX loop, and use it for noise reduction/gating, EQ, Wah, etc. I don't use the amp models on it much, except sometimes for layered takes while recording. I'll sooner use a cheap or free VST amp sim for that, and then use this amp for my main tones, with a metalzone set to 2 or 3 on the gain after my multi-FX in the loop for some sound variation/tone stacking and blending or more gain for neck pickup leads.

    Hi! Great stuff. Do the Bantamps have any kind of digital amp modeling or is it only the cab? I haven't found any info whether it's 100% analog or maybe some simulation in combination with analog amplification. I'm looking for a "cheap" way of trying analog by combining e.g. a bantamp with IR's but I want no amp modeling. I contacted Joyo about this but no response.

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  3 роки тому +2

      That's a good question. I don't know how they are emulating the sound of the original amps. I know the preamp section is at least partly tube so that's analog, and I don't think there is any digital emulation happening, but I could be wrong. Definitely some sort of cab emulation happening in the headphone out... don't know that it's digital though.
      The way I used the bantamp in this video and then added the IR in post was to use the FX send out to my interface.
      Good luck!

      I was curious as well, turn out it is indeed 100% analog. There are people who have done a schematic, as well as a full teardown.

    • @Tenbrink
      @Tenbrink 3 роки тому

      @@chrisvuk3053 I've found two teardowns of the Zombie mki but that is mostly gibberish to me. I also found a forum thread where they discussed the schematics and someone wondered if one component was a DSP chip, but noone could say for sure. It might only be for bluetooth. Joyo should be transparent about this IMO. E.g. Hotone, another relatively known cheap microamp manufacturer, has an FAQ where they say their amps are 100% analog. I don't mind digital, I've used it for 20 years, but I can stick to plugins for that. I just want to try analog mostly for the fun of it, and I want the MB sound without becoming broke.

      @@TaylorDanley Thanks! BTW you should do a video about the drums in your mixes because they sound great, especially in your Bantamp Zombie video.

      @@Tenbrink I agree, it would be helpful if Joyo could have clarified from the beginning if these amps were 100% analog or not.
      However, since people have down a schematic and recreated the circuit successfully that should be pretty conclusive that it is completely analog.
      as far as the chip, it is a CSR8635 Qualcomm, "Single Chip Bluetooth Audio ROM Platform
      ", so that is for the Bluetooth audio.

    I think the class 'D' power section takes some of the warmth out of the tube pre-amp....Probably would have sounded better with a good class 'A/B' power section.
    Did they offer a pre out jack? that would open the door to using a better power section and more cabs.

    Let me think of how to craft my comments so that I convey my sincerity without seeming negative. The Marshall JCM is arguably the most versatile of all rock n' roll tones that the 20th Century introduced us to. However, when someone wants to know where the tonal integrity of a JCM lies, it isn't really a question to answer paired up with EMGs, or with high gain metal riffs. The integrity of a JCM tone lies in clarity and detail - note separation in full open chords. Malcolm and Angus Young riffs, some classic Whitesnake riffs, old Def Leppard from the first couple of albums, or some '80s journey riffs, Deep Purple riffs, or some old Hendrix stuff -- with PAF humbuckers, a P90 or two, or some classic Fender single coils... That's the voice of a Marshall.
    I certainly do not take issue with the quality of your playing, merely the relevance of the style and material that you chose for the review of this gear.

    Every metal amp, guitar, pedal, player all sound exactly the same - only one tone and distortion at max (or made to sound like it's at max). Seems to have no regard for 'tone' at all. It's all; gain > Gain > GAIN!!!!! At that point, which gear you use (or what player's fingers are doing it), it all sounds exactly the same.
    Pretty much every sound demo-ed (including the playing) sounded the same. I'm pretty sure that amp can do a LOT more than heard here. I'll go check out other posts to find out.
    Thanks anyway.
