- Joyo BantAmp Jackman II (Budget Marshall Goodness?)
This little hybrid amp is supposed to be filled to the brim with those Marshall tones. And it's affordable. It's lightweight, and easy to carry around. Sounds too good to be true. Except that the sound of the amp is what determines if it's worth anything. So let's see.
Enjoy!

Hi, was just wondering what kind of speaker cabinet you were running the head through for this demo?
If it was already mentioned in the video and I just missed it, then I apologize.
You could put an eq in the effects loop to fine tune this too.
Golden!
I got the jackman 2 and the zombie 2, I play them both through seperate 4x12 marshall code 412 cabinets, using a a/b/y splitter to send the guitar signal to both amps.
The built in distortion channel on these amps are great, the jackman gives me a jcm sound, and the zombie gives me a mesa boogie rectifier sound.
Dont be fooled by their size or 20w rating, these amps are loud as hell.
I put my valve heads away and use these nowerdays, that's how much they impressed me.
Hello. Thank you for sharing this.
Do you happen to know how to connect a multi effects pedal in front of this amp?
Thomann has the single channel version for only $95 right now. For anyone needing a budget amp head that gets loud and outperforms many amps that are 3x expensive, this is a great deal.
the single channel doesnt have headphones tho you cant play if someone in your family is doing something
Love your demos. Thank you for playing the amp clean as well. I do side gigs playing country. I’ve liked and subscribed. Good stuff man.
I have only tried those Joyo Drive pedals, which also are surprisingly good. Might throw a buck towards germany to get one of these for myself. Great review and playing Elmo!
Use the Joyo British with a Joyo Cab box or a Mooer Radar into a Headrush FRFR 112. It gets you closer to the sound of a Marshall amplifier than this. To my ears anyways.
That sounded good. You are making me a believer in a tube (valve) pre-amplifier.
It was surprisingly good.
I have the Jackman I and ViVo. They are ok and a booster really enhances the sound to me. I think both of those that I have, are quite bass heavy. Jackman gave nice sounds when I connected the loop send into marshall origin 20 loop return. Although I still needed to have origin presence all the way and even then I still felt that I need to slant the origin a bit. I really like that V-type sound alot. Sadly even 0,5 watts of the origin is almost too loud in apartment use.
Do you still have both amps ? this weekend i crancked the Jackman in high volumes in the speaker of the origin 20c and i like the sound. I will try the jackman loop send into marshall origin 20 loop return to check.
@@jorgetome7089 Yes, I still do have both of them. I never tried them straight to origin's speaker - always from loop send to loop return so that I get that EL34 power section in good use :). Bantamps seem work quite well also as a poweramp for modelers; been using jackman as a poweramp for Quad Cortex and (V30 speaker) that really works nice as well. By the way, Jackman's clean channel really surprised me as I captured it into QC and built a clean sound with that and reverb - no need for fender cleans for me anymore :)
This thing is so loud! In my little 2x8 cab I have to keep both channels volume down on about 2 in order to play in doors. And it still had my ears ringing this morning. This is for the stage. Small but packs a mean punch.
I can count up to 16 pedals and 7 different types of amps behind you! Must be great to have all that!
Half the amps aren't mine, but yeah, it's fun to have that kind of a wall behind you :)
Dude this little thing rocks my socks off must buy this asap with 1x12 cab
Nice demo, you should do one of the Friedman BE mini to see how it compares
Been thinking of trying that asap.
You just gave me inspiration to mash up Sweet child o mine and Crazy train riffs 😂... Great rewiev.
:D
Great playing as always Elmo
We need a new tune called "Snake Charmer" that combines all the bits you merge when hinting at well known tunes.
I like this lunchbox.
:D
I have the Orange Micro Terror but still feel the need for this Marshally type of gain and your review of this Jackman is pretty good.
very good demo enjoy it keep on playing it does sound good.you need there cordless system.its great.
I'll tell y'all this.......I got one, jammed on it.......and...
It has a great clean channel.
It has a good gain channel.
If you're used to that heavy gain........you're going to be disappointed.
If you like that acdc type gain, this is for you.
The gain is very nice. I dig it but it just lacks that bite, that sustain you get from more gain.
Yes you can always add your od or whatever you use.
Im not a fan of that but it does do the job.
Just warning you peeps who are thinking of getting one and like that heavy gain.
But dam.......it can get loud.
I was looking around for something a little "more" than my little Bugera V5 Infinium when a Crate 4x12 cab hit FB Marketplace for $50. I mean, it's Crate, but it was $50. And I got one of these amps for it. It really does sound pretty good, and I imagine it'll sound better through a 2x12 cab with Greenbacks or something like that.
I would like Joyo to create a BantAmp that is based on the tone of a Two Rock amplifier such as the Bi-Onyx or the Coral.
Hey, I'm looking to use that little Joyo amp to insert in the chain: Guitar PC interface (IN) - Computer Marshall amp sims (IK Multimedia, LePou/Poulin JCM 800) - Guitar PC interface (OUT) - Joyo Jackman II (return loop) - real 2X12 (or 4X12) Marshall cab. I think this would kick ass in an apartment/house. I just don't know how to find the appropriate ''LINE OUT from the guitar interface to plug into the JOYO's return loop. The idea is to use a PC sims as a Marshall preamp tweaked to taste & use the Joyo only as a clean power to drive a cab. Can you help tinkering this and show us how you would plug the whole setup? Thanks!
I don't use plugins, so can't really help. Sorry.
I had the original Jackman, sometimes I wish I had kept it. Great amp, although I found that it didn't play nicely with every drive pedal. All they would need to do in order to fix the headphone out is add a simple cab sim.
It sounds amazing with Rat
11:15 ofc its not, why do you think its called JaCkMan. Should be a JCM 800 ...idk how much it is, but at least they dont claim its a plexi as you said. I liked it for what it is anyway.
I have the firebrand. It's a great practice amp
Cool!
What I'm impressed with, is your plan you're awesome man wish I could play half that well. With the amp you lost me when you said the headphone out didn't sound good at all I'm getting ready to move into a small apartment where I'm not going to be able to plug my guitar in any kind of a cabinet whatsoever most likely and the Bluetooth feature would allow me to use the stereo and jam this tracks and learn stuff if the headphones sounded good from what you're saying they don't. That being said can you recommend a microamp like this that does have a decent headphone output sound and Bluetooth?
Not sure I can. Sorry. I most often don't even check out the phones out function, as they almost always sound terrible, and I never use the feature anyway.
Me encantan tus videos, buenas review, completas
Gracias!
Love your demos man, wish you would have also used a humbucker guitar though!
🎸🎸 hi there, elmo. i was thinking about getting the friedman be mini. now you`ve changed my mind...this is half the price and more than double the sound ! though, i still like the friedman. 👍👍
I ghot the AtomiC version from this ampy,, the bleutooth i use alot its easy for playing some backingtracks from You Tube
It would of been really nice if it had a full EQ instead of just a tone knob.
Welme Guitars? Never heard of before. Interesting though. Nice amp, nice guy, nice playing.
Thanks!
Sounds like a great amp, glad V2 has the loop missing from V1. But too bad HP out sucks a**, cause why get this if HP out sucks a**, when the target market is practice/backup amp.
Yeah, I had that thought too.
What is H.P.?
@@ConvictSkeeter HeadPhone output jack.
@@MrPolevaulter it's a real shame, I was thinking of buying it to use for home practice with headphones. Could you suggest other amplifiers with a good headphone output?
@@OscarVzzl I rarely even try the headphone output, as it's normally not very good.
Thanks for throwing in The Loner - Gary Moore :)
Great song :)
What happened to people just buying a Marshall MG for cheap Marshall tones? Smh.
Thanks for all your great reviews and awesome playing, really inspiring (and intimidating😉)
Would you recommend this or the Marshall dsl1 as 'home amp'? I know the marshall can be used on a really low volume, how about this one?
Cheers
Joyo makes solid stuff. I own a Zip Amp which is supposed to be a EH BB clone. Sounds very good.
Amp sounds good, too.
Price cannot be beat.
The Zip Amp is a clone of the Xotic BB Comp.
It sounds killer but how much are the effects pedals that are making it sound that way? That would add to the cost significantly I would think. 🎶🎸🤘😊🤘🎸🎶
Just the overdrives I was using. You could get a much more affordable overdrive that would do the job.
Boss overdrives and distortions on Reverb for 30-50 bucks. TC Electronics Fangs costs the same as a few pints and a Mars Bar. For this price range, i'd just go with the Fender Champion 40...because...12 inch speaker. Although the portability of this Joyo is joyous, which is the whole point of it.
You could literally ask this question about any amp. The sound still has to run through the amp.
You can get Joyo or Caline drive pedals on Amzon for 30-40 bucks. They're fantastic.
Awesome 👍
8:04 I swear I heard this before. It's a little different but seems that this is better and has more spaceship atmospheric tones
Could you please let us know what speakers you are playing this demo through?
Marshall 1960AHW cab.
Nice video, Elmo! Which one do you think it sounded better: this Joyo or the Orange Micro Dark? I'll probably buy one of these two
The Joyo I think.
Orange has a different gain structure it's more "fuzzy"
10:44 🎶“CRAZY!!“🎶🤘🏻
Nice sounding !!!
Sure is.
It sounds ok. With you playing especially. I think you could make the worst sounding digital 1 watt amp sound good. 😉🤣
May I ask how much pull up you have on your trem? It looks like quite a bit. I can never do that because I learned in the 70s I guess, and always rest my hand o. the bridge and it goes sharp. SO I always deck almost all of my terms on the body and dive only, except one or two guitars. I do have them with lots of springs those to make it stiffer, etc. ,
For the money it sounds ok. Have you tried the Orange lunch box amps? The higher gain hybrid model is like this one with an effects loop, etc. I hate amps without an effects loop. Delay is always needed. 🤣..I just have to have delay, distortion, and chorus. I just like it.
Cool video man!. Going to check out some of hour other pedal and small amp vids.
Hope all is well sir with you and yours my friend!!
Tim
Try orange micro dark. It's amazing
I seem to remember I've already done that.
agree.. to both of you

Thanks for these great videos! For home use would you recommend this head over the Harley Benton tube 15 ?
The Harley Benton, but they're both good.
very very good cheap amp, and your playing makes obviously the difference :) i think i culb buy the single channel model
So....your Plexi is for sale, now? How much?😉
Haha :D
Nice one Elmo! This one has been on my radar for a while but I never managed to find anywhere to try one. I may have to take a plunge on this soon...... ;)
Surprisingly good :)
Excellent video
great review and honestly as always. how you record this ? mic or ir capture?
Mic.
Cool guitar
IS IT better sounding than the Harley Benton 5 or 15 watts?
It's different. I do prefer the Tube15.
Great review. I would like to know if it's only the separate knobs that differs from the first edition. I owned the Joyo BantAmp Jackman 1 and it was great but i bought it as a practiceamt to use it with headphones (which was terrible). The first edition still costs only 99 euros and sounds the same to me.
That, and the footswitch. The rest is the same.
Never liked scallops. Mostly in pasta. Never tried a scalloped fretboard tho. Mostly because of my love for donuts🙃
Fantastic demo Elmo!
🤟
Marshall DSL 1 HR sounds better than Joyo BantAmp Jackman II ??
Not sure.
The go to guy on YT for me these days!💪💪💪💪💪 Why therefore did I buy the Vox Cambridge?😂😂😂😂😂
Cheers! :)
Hello. I have an important and great question that is not resolved in the manual and I have not received an answer from Joyo either by e-mail when I asked them this question. The great question that I asked them by E-mail is this: I just want to connect the BantAmp as if it were a pedal in the chain. Guitar to the input and send to interface, without connecting any speaker or headphone. Can I connect it like this without any load? Do not output the sound through headphones or speaker?
Line or headphone out. What it sounds like is anybody's guess.
I like this guy.
Surprisingly good
Get 2 & it’s the 1st ever JCM800 in >>>stereo
I have a zombie ii for at home with a harley benton 1x12 and it is huge. Especially with an OD to boost or EQ in the loop
Hi Elmo, I was wondering if they are as good or better than the vox MV50 series nutube mini ? by the way a great review. I am in the market for a mini guitar head at a reasonable price, you have given me a great example of what can be achieved with these small amps. Thank you.
Haven't tried those.
I have an MV50 clean, sounds great, BUT, no effects loop, they do take drive pedals well, but if you want lots of reverb etc, which you would normally add on the effects loop, you cant, can always add before the amp, but not ideal. Maybe pick up a vox MV50 cheap on Ebay, tbh, Id go with the Joyo. The MV50 through a 2x12 does sound nice, although, tba, most of the time I now gig with a Katana 2x12 100W, best value buy ever on Ebay.
@@LOFIGSD Thanks.
what's up with the valleys on your guitar fretboard? Is that one of those scooped ones Malmsteen used to talk about n played?
Yeah. Scallops. I have a video on that as well.
Soynds good enough for me!
Still think I like my Friedman small box and BE-OD better.
Fair enough.
weird flex, but ok
Hi Elmo.
Just for fun have you ever tried the 25 euro behringer tm300? Rip of of a famous preamp for zero money that sounds unbelievable.
Nope. Don't think I've ever heard of it.
@@MrPolevaulter It's 'allegedly' a copy of a Sans Amp. TM stands for Tube Amp Modeller. I had the bigger brother the GDi21, which I sold on pretty quick, but others seem to get good tones out of them, especially for higher gain stuff.
how do you tink about joyo dc 15 sir? it seems cheaper than the roland cube 10, but slightly in the same price point with katana mini, the konfiguration seems interesting and also the out port..
Haven't tried it, so can't say.
Hey elmo! Do you prefer this one or an orange dark terror? To jam in the house and ocassionaly to band rehearsals (hard rock Style)
This one I'd say.
What is better option: Joyo Jackman and 1x12 cab or Marshall DSL5 combo?
Not sure.
Great demo!!! What overdrives did you use on the od channel? Thanks :)
Strymon Riverside.
Thanks. Ok, better tones: Jackman or Orange Micro Terror?
Jackman I think.
it sounded a little bit thinner and tiny
hi folks! im wondering if clean headroom is enough to fight with drummer. cheers
Don't know as I never tried. Sorry.
I’ve got several Joyo clip-on tuners, does that count? ;)
:D
I recently received the Jackman 2 and think the OD channel is too fizzy ( had a Marshall 100w 1978 master volume the same) and wish the clean had slightly more drive for classic rock rhythm. A small point, I thought you were reviewing the amp and not your pedals so I stopped watching, so it wasn't an amp review ...
Man you shred
Cheers!
Can I hook an acoustic pickup to joyo Jackman ll
Sure. Might not sound too good though.
What is the best way to connect the amp to an interface (best sound)? Headphone out or with a power attenuator (like the Harley Benton PA-100)
Dunno, as I haven't tried it.
I would use the effects send to send out the signal to an interface. Then, the amp works sort of as a pre-amp pedal. The headphone out isn’t very good, to be frank.
I haven’t tried this myself, either, to be honest. But, that seems to make the most sense to me.
I use the PA-100 with my orange micro terror with very acceptable results. i use IRs and reverb in Reaper
Can you use these without a cab ...say into the joyo cab box pedal and then into the PA
And maybe some more overdrive.....Proceeds to go Nuts on the guitar 😈😈🤟🤟
I can't decide what cab to buy for this. I don't want an 8 inch speaker... I'd like to go 12. I'm asking for opinions/suggestions. Peace!
Not sure. I just have a couple of 4x12s.
Go get a used 4x12 they practically give them away these days
The Power supply that came with this amp failed and finding a replacement has been a nightmare. Joyo customer service doesn't exist.
Hi Elmo, which cabine did you use? Regards Frank
Marshall 1960AHW
Can anyone recommend a good cab/speaker for this - are the Harley Benton cabs good ? Thx
Haven't tried them.
@@MrPolevaulter any other cabs you can recommend? Thx
Hey if you have this amp head do you have to have it connected to a cab like a tube amp or can you use headphone out only and not use a cab?
I think you can just use it with phones. It's just that the phones out sounds really poor.
@@MrPolevaulter Thanks a lot for answering! Love your gear reviews, keep up the good work!
Hello, does the Joyo has an inbuild speaker? Thank you! Like your videos!!
No it doesn't have a built in speaker, you need a cab - or an old combo to convert.
Nope.
It's good on its own, but I don't find it very Marshall-y
it should be a JCM 800-900 sound
Use a Les Paul standard with a set of APH-1 or APH-2 and this is where the magic happens. Using a strat-ish type of guitar you need to boost it to get a tone close to a JCM.
@@erichemard7066 nope!
So with headphones it sucks?
That's what everyone seems to say. Sucks because i wanted to record and practice quietly.
Didn't try it with phones, as I haven't really liked almost anything with phones.
Run this through an orange pedalbaby wow
If you run it head to head with the jcm800 it's pretty much nothing like it really. But a decent sound for jamming at home I guess
I hope I will not insult anyone with this question but is it worth to compare this to katana mk2 100w? I need something that will be Ok with headphones and will not be too loud. I had Tube15, it sounded great… once. There is No way I could play it this loud. So I used master volume knob added in effects loop but amp felt not so good anymore. Would this jackman with such master volume in fx loop sound without any difference as it doesnt have any tubes in power amp section? And is there any way to run headphones out of that jackman with some cab sim? Btw, it sounded a little bit dark sometimes but overall… great :) sound of tube 15 seems to me at the same level of goodness but just different. This jackman is more flexible with that footswitch and two channels. And gives possibility to rum backing tracks via Bluetooth. Just that damn poor headphones out :(
I'm not a big fan of the Katana. They're OK, but nothing more imo.
Man, sometimes the way you're speaking sounds like those of John Malkovich 😮
what cabinet are you using?
Marshall 1960AHW
What us your cabinet?
Marshall 1960 AHW
That's exactly how I play sweet child o' mine too 😏🤣🤣🤣
:D
What cab are
You running it through??
Marshall 1960 AHW.
Whats not to love about this....
Hell of sound and dirt cheap...
👍🏻👍🏻
🤟🏻 🌟 🤟
Is it loud enough?
I don't remember how loud it was. Loud enough to play with in a metal band? Nope, don't think so.
They will definitely make your neighbours go crazy.
