For me, it was the opposite because they waited this long to memorialized Cayde. Without a doubt they’re bringing him back and it’s nice to be proven correct, they’ve also over the years explored a lot of things to do with exos and other stuff that could relate towards Cayde with the nightmare of Ikora(just checked it in the Trepasser lore tab) if I remember correctly. It was only a matter of time, but from the looks of it he’s still dead. It’s just his consciousness inside the traveler, which I think maybe every guardian that dies their consciousness just gets reabsorbed into the traveler. I just don’t know if that person can get another ghost but we know for a fact, though that ghosts can have multiple users shin malfor and his “dad” for example.🤔

This actually can not be the case as Ikora still has a ghost whereas Cayde does not, just my thought but I think it is a projection of some sort. They must have made this before Lance Reddick (Rest in peace) passed away so it can not be a tribute to him either, again this is just my thoughts @sweatcicle
its the interference of the guardian's resurrection and Cayde's projecting life into the dead bones of both, that's all the story of Destiny ever has been. It's an allegory for girls wanting the attention of their man and manipulating the datastreams of telemetry to ensure that they're ever-present, I suspect. basically, all video games are intended to cuck everyone other than their creators, but we're hecka magic(ck) and make it happen anyway :)
It’s almost definitely an afterlife inside the Traveler where Cayde is “living”. Ikora still has her ghost, so I assume she’s still alive and we just found a way to get inside the traveler
my interpretation of the teaser is that once a guardian dies, they are sent into the Traveler. I believe that since The Witness opened the Traveler, it gives the chance for us to gain new allies, dead guardians coming out of the Traveler.
Enough death….. enough life…. Does the witness want to be in some sort of limbo state or something between life and death. I could be just grasping at straws here though.
It doesnt rlly make much sense with the part where dead guardians will be sent into the traveler because therefore the traveler should have the power to bring a guardian back by opening himself, which he can cause when he attacked the ships he opened himself.
Zavala is probably gonna die in this season block and cayde is back to help distract from this. As for the traveller portal area best guess is that field is either in the traveller itself or a dimension that the traveller is a portal to. I’m leaning to inside the traveller cause my theory is guardians that are dead dead have their light spirit in the traveller living in this comfy field so that could be why we see cayde and guessing at some point in a season ikora will find ways to enter the traveller without being mangled.
I have a feeling that the witnesses actions will inadvertently give us the ability to manipulate matter(the power to move planets). Marathons lore has a lot to do with entities fixing the events of the next universe to their liking, during the limbo period between the universe collapsing and the Big Bang. All these bungie games could be universes separated by big crunches and big bangs.
if you're wondering they are inside the traveler, so hes not back completely, but might be in the game. ikora/ warlocks in general can do some weird mind stuff before their ghost resses them which is how ikora met cayde again
Why would her ghost be in there with her then? Also I don't see the portal opening up to enter the Traveler. I definitely see it as being a separate dimension, which is why we can't follow.
That’s not inside the traveler the portal leads elsewhere as the inside the traveller is a place that’s actually been seen by a guardian before. It’s in physical space and can be entered much like the pyramid shops
@@Cumbernumb so then why would the witness use the portal on the traveler to then go to a different dimension? makes no sense, its obviously inside the traveler

I feel as though Marathon is going to fill the gap between Final Shape and Destiny 3 or whatever new Destiny game comes out. To be able to have a game that doesn't need as much balancing so the rest of Bungie can fully focus on D3
I was really hyped for this game. It being an extraction shooter kinda kills it for me. I might try it out, but I was really hoping that they were going to finally just do a full semi competitive arena shooter. Extraction shooters feel like glorified BRs.
From one perspective, I agree with you, but from the other, we didn't really see good big budget attempts on extraction shooters yet. I'm really thrilled to see what bungie could pull out with this one. Another reason I don't like the idea of arena shooter, is it would be compared to halo and destiny standarts way too much, and I don't think it's healthy for the game. New genre paves a way for more creativity.
I have vibes of Division 1 Dark Zone. If it really turns out very similar to that, I'm guessing you have to be really okay with griefing and exploiters in order to enjoy this. Code of Honour be damned, it's every man for himself. Probably not good for solo players, nor casual either.
As cool as Cayde returning is, I am far more excited for Marathon. Marathon is my favorite FPS trilogy of all time, and any new game in the series, even a PvP Extraction Shooter, is a welcome breath of fresh air in my eyes. I am so excited to see where Bungie will take Marathon!
@@Peppy318veryone above me is correct, but to give some background: Marathon was originally developed and released in 1994 as a Macintosh-exclusive competitor to DOOM, which was exclusive to MS-DOS at the time. Marathon was so popular that it merited making an entire trilogy of games. Unfortunately for Bungie, the Macintosh gaming community, while passionate, were only a fraction of the size of the MS-DOS gaming community, and as such, the entire combined Marathon Trilogy only ever sold 500,000 copies as opposed to DOOM and DOOM II’s combined 5,000,000 copies. Because of this, while DOOM has persisted in the public eye of the gaming community to this day, Marathon has faded into obscurity, save for a few references in the Bungie Halo games and in Destiny via the MIDA Multi-Tool, an Exotic that was very literally ripped from the Marathon universe.
From what I've read about Marathon, and experience playing extraction shooters (Tarkov, Hunt, Cycle, Marauders, DMZ). Yes you are gonna lose everything you bring in for each run. So if you die you lose all of it. It seems the highest teir of loot are those artifacts and collecting more upgrades it, I think they're gonna be needed for upgrades and some form of progression. The main pull that keeps players playing extraction shooters is the want for more loot and that each raid/run is different. I'm hoping that there is no SBMM. So you can run into any class of player, that being the noon timmie or the ultra sweat.
I'm a firm believer in sbmm making most competitive games better. This game absolutely should NOT have sbmm, that sounds like a disaster. I want to have a chance of randomly stumbling onto a player everybody knows, I want to be able to crush people I'm better than, I want people better than me to be able to crush me. In this type of game, skill should be rewarded as gear, as being able to survive when others wouldn't. That all just gets mellowed out by sbmm
Zavalla is probably going to be some sort of sacrifice to make whatever plan we had to get into the portal on the traveler to work. we are gonna be scrambling and separated and he is going to be near whatever ritual spot we set up and he is going to make the sacrifice while telling us to finish this fight.
@@savvysavvington yea with all the controversy over copyright and rights to use peoples voices, unless he specifically said you could do so after he passed then I’d say don’t use any AI voice synth do do that.
Honestly after how they have treated D2 PvP I'm really on the fence cuz who's to say that this new Marathon game isn't treated the same way? Few years of good content then the same golden people are pulled to a different project and its left to rot. I'm not saying I want this to fail but I have major trust issues with this.
I feel like it's just easier to make dedicated servers for a brand new game than it is to make them for a game that has been around for about 6 or 7 years.
The reason this trailer looked better than the usual cutscenes we get is because those are usually done in the game engine and this is a pre rendered cinematic. The difference in quality between those two (if the game engine is old like Destiny's is) is gonna be night and day.
The trailer was so fire, seeing CAYDE-6 back and filled with light made me so ecstatic. I just hope after entering the travaler, we can bring him back to the real world. Hopefully we can. Also, hope we get that shattered version of Ace of spades as an ornament. We need the Hunter Vanguard's leader back.
@@corruptsion3725 my guess (a guess of many to be fair) inside of the traveler is where the dead/ghostless guardians go to when they die, that's why cayde is profusing light

The fact that this new game is getting every bit of love that d2 deserves from a pvp standpoint is at the same time very good and very bad. I want them to succeed but at the same time i want the same amount of commitment from the destiny devs
At this point, I'm just dropping destiny endgame altogether, only playing for story, and waiting for Marathon. I don't care if d2 pvp will become better, I'd rather play a game with an entire gameplay dedicated to pvp. Ship already sailed, it's too late to fix pvp in d2, maybe d3 would be interesting to see, but for d2 I'd rather they just focus on pve and story
@@Kamasillvia I loved Destiny PvP for it’s exotics, abilities and the multitude of different play styles that came from them. Marathon will really need that special wow factor to keep people interested.
@@Yu7Ziit depends, if you do the gameplay loop of extraction really well, it could be even more addictive than battle royale even. The cyberpunky asthetic also lends way to weapon and body customisation hopefully
My bets and hopes after Final Shape are that the Vex become the main adversary in Destiny (the Vex to the Witness like Kang to Thanos) and story is about humanity expanding beyond Sol. Like a Mass Effect Andromeda but for Destiny.
Marathon looks super cool, but I find myself struggling to get excited about ANY BR/Extraction shooter. The market has been flooded with them over the years and the core gameplay loop feels very bland. I will probably still give it a shot, but I can't imagine playing it for longer than a month. As far as why they pulled their best devs away to work on Marathon - it makes a lot of sense. Destiny already had it's foundation in place. They needed their best people to make sure Marathon had the best possible foundation in place to ensure it had the optimal chances for success. It's still disheartening because Destiny has lacked that extra oomph, but very understandable.
I'm kinda worried that Bungie is gonna move away from Destiny to work on Marathon. They probably won't since they have separate teams for the games, but they're moving people from Destiny to Marathon, like you said, and that just makes the game suffer.
Cayde is/was the only character who had any sort of personality in Destiny, they were 100% going to bring him back. Now, will they keep him? For all we know they might as well do it... Or they can go the good old "Ikora sacrifices herself to save her friend from the dead" or even better the "But Cayde actually sacrifices himself to save Ikora because his time in life is already over" I don't think Bungie will do anything too risky even if that could increase the story quality. Edit: Really excited for Marathon. Here's hoping Bungie makes it as good as it looks.
Cayde just got beavered into the shadow realm and we have to harness the power of the weasel to bring the witness in there so they can have an eververse microtransaction showdown.
It is worth acknowledging, because it is being said Bungie stripped these people from Destiny to work on this, that is NOT necessarily the case. There is a very real, very REASONABLE assumption that can be made that these people just WANTED to work on something else. They'd been on Destiny for years, the company was looking to work on new projects, and so they just wanted to do something new. Some folks are probably cool working on the same thing for a long, long time, but a lot of people want some kind of variation after a while. I don't think it's really fair to assume that leadership just stripped Destiny of a bunch of its more well known talent, when it's likely those people were just ready to move on, as is pretty understandable.
Honestly, I have thought for a while that they are basically gonna kill everyone. Notice Cayde has no Ghost and they are the only 2 left. Also, tjere hasn't been a single chatacter that filled the whole that was left after Nathan Fillion was gone.
Would be pretty amazing in the future if bungie found a way to canonically and realistically tie in marathon, Destiny, and halo all into each other and they could share lore.
They fumbled through the last 10 years of this IP. D1 was on the cutting room floor more than once and was shipped in a poor narrative state. They came close to a coherent story driven game at the end of Rise of Iron but completely blew it with D2. Greed and mismanagement have led to this mess of an IP we have currently and things will not get better for D3 unless there is a complete philosophy and operational change within Bungie. Bungie have not been the same with out JS.
I think a good way to end destiny 2 is to have us defeat the witness and discover a new galaxy or something. That way we get an entirely fresh start. New enemies, new factions, new characters to meet, while still keeping our guardian and some of the characters we have currently. Losing all of our loot and progress will be a punch in the gut, sure, but all good things must come to an end eventually, and I’m sure we’ll find out their plans post Final Shape during the showcase on 8/22
One thing they could do is rather than a huge galaxy, just one open world planet or something with multiple levels. I feel like it'd be something new for destiny, not entirely open world, but a planet with more defined areas, activities and story components. It would improve the emptiness of current destinations and would seem more fun to traverse the area. Like finding a hidden exotic quest and completing it through exploration, maybe with randomised perks like borderlands to keep the loot aspect fresh. Or alternatively make a prequel to destiny 1. Like the dark ages or the first risen. The subclasses could be tweaked to show early iterations of each element and variations on abilities. This might include battles like the twilight gap, or crota's emergence on the moon, the showdown between malphur and dredgen yor, or even the great hunt. Of course, most lore readers know how this ends, but a lot of people don't so its not entirely unreasonable. It could be more of a story approach to destiny, maybe put pvp in but less focus on abilities and more gun play like d1. I feel like it's a good opportunity, it's what I'd go for. Back to its roots but more focus on the environment and a different genre of destiny, being more dark and gritty compared to destiny now.
@@jacklancaster3531 Rather than prequel, I think a huge time skip would be cool to see. Incorporate some time loop underlining with repeat of the golden age, and new Collapse, but for entirely different reason. It could be hard to do, but it will provide a way for continuation of the plot without retconning
I feel like Marathon will have to be something special if it want's to find it's place these days Also love that it gets all these nice things we've wanted for D2 for years lol
That’s what I was thinking like the only extraction shooters I can think of are tarkov and Ubisofts new one they’re releasing which might flop if it lacks identity to what tarkov is. If they can do what Fortnite was able to with battle royale then yeah the game will be huge

I hope the game is good but I honestly don’t know if I’ll play it just due to how they fumbled D2 PvP post-forsaken. At least now its confirmed they haven’t had any talent at all in the department for years. I just don’t have the trust for them to not do the same again. So many poor steps in the management of this era pf destiny. It shows in every side of the game too. PvP, Gambit and some PvE content (mainly seasons but some campaigns *LIGHTFALL). Almost all of destiny’s lowest points are post forsaken imo.
No, Marathon is not set in the Destiny universe. Marathon was a trilogy of games from the 90s before they made Halo. This is set in the same fiction of those games, but not a direct follow-up.
I’m okay w it tbh, I’m a huge destiny fan since the beginning but I need something new and honestly this looks absolutely amazing. Cant wait for them to show us more
From what bungie said, Lance had recorded all of the voicelines for season of the deep and no other information. Now this doesn't mean there aren't more voice lines
I think the traveller brought Caydes light back inside him ( the traveller) and the fact the witness broke into the traveller with the darkness it did some kind of infection that made Cayde come back corrupted like Sloan
Theories: 1. Cayde is an Exo. Ikora pieced him back together over the years and he Cayde is The Final Shape. 2. The team and guardians made it to the final shape mission thing and zavala sacrifices himself to bring back Cayde from the traveller 3. In the initial explosion cayde pulled off some evade maneuver last second almost fatally injuring him and turning his ace into a broken taken design. 4. Cayde was revived by the witness but was tortured into working for them and that meeting he had with ikora was to catch him up on what happened since his disappearance and hear from his side. 5. Bungie said bring back the goat and to only work primarily on Marathon
Missed the opportunity to show cayde as a human, kept the surprise by being saved by a hooded guy with the ace inside of the traveler and you find out it’s cayde Mann but hey this is still awesome
Since they get production for seasons done at least 3 months before they come out, Zavalla is either going to 1) Die right at the end of Season 22 (Lightfall Season 3) (Lance likely did at least 90% of all his voice lines for this season, if not all of them) 2) Die whenever they feel it fits the story best in Season 23, as I find it likely that he's done some lines, but not all, for the season Anyway, it's pretty certain that he's not making it to Lightfall, cause that's probably what they're focusing on right now in Bungie HQ, and most definitely did not have any script to give to Lance for him to record 3 months ago (1 month before he died)
so by that logic,:Drifter, Ikora, Shaxx ,Saint, Saladin and Anna are also likely dead because they also weren't in there? That cutscene is just a representation of "the guardians" rather than individual characters. Zavala is probably going to die During Final shape, but I'm not sure how this cutscene indicated that to you.
I don't have much hope for Marathon. I'm super excited for it but I don't know how it will turn out. Will Bungie fill it with more and more mtx like destiny 2 and also abandon big development on it when working on other projects? Will destiny get more after release?
Tbh, destiny can do so much more, afterall we're still in our solar system, except for some "exotic" (not weapon related) destination, like the dreaming city, a new saga set in another system or the Andromeda galaxy would be dope for sure, I'm more curious about the new villain though, the Witness took basically 9 years to show up, 10 counting the final shape, so I wonder if for the new saga it will take as much as that
I’m just really curious as to what Marathon’s pricing model is going to be. It’s clearly live service with their mention of seasons but if it isn’t free, would people still play? Destiny could get away with it as it became live service over time and established IPs like CoD have huge fanbases but I see the pricing and monetisation being a make or break for the popularity of this one.
Spoilers below: . The afterlife/place inside the traveller in which they are in is the place in which the traveller sat in the witness’s civilisation, as seen in the leaked cutscene from Ahsa.
It makes me think if this will launch once destiny is over, I don’t see both this game and destiny PvP coexisting. If this is really good PvP in destiny is over, and with gambit continuing the same path there really won’t be anything except pve. Wonder how this will all play out
The moment they brought back Mara and her brother, I know that one day they will bring back Cayde too. This is what's going on with their storytelling now a days. Introduced new character in a disservice way or the character themselves are just meh, so they have to revive old characters just to milk them dry.
Caydes gonna be like damn... I've been gone for 5 years and you guys are still just dunking balls, standing on timed platforms, and fighting the same old enemies?
Either they kill off Zavala and he better have a badass final stand as a Titan, or they just keep him in memorial to Lance, which I prefer more. Just use the excuse that he must stay at the tower to ensure they don't get attacked
Honestly i'm not mad they moved the A team for PvP over to Marathon. It makes the most sense. Crucible in Destiny has always been a lost cause. It has never been in a good spot. Even in a good spot (such as during the 30th anniversary) it's still bad. Crucible will never be competitive. Crucible also doesn't bring in good viewership. It's just an extra thing to do when you are done with PvE, but it's always been missing something. It does get lots of players, but the numbers are inflated by trials and IB. Besides those two modes people don't really play PvP. They had a chance with the comp mode, but that is terrible too. I rather Bungie just focus on their new game and make that the best PvP game they can then instead of trying to salvage crucible. Yes, it sucks, but I honestly I think it's the smarter decision by them. Maybe now they can do things right. And everyone complaining about how Destiny is still on old gen and how it doesn't have dedicated servers need to just stop. Dedicated servers aren't just something you can easily implement. For Destiny they would have to redesign tons of stuff which could break the game even more and it would be a massive investment. It is not feasible for them to do it. Dedicated servers is something they needed to start implementing when they first started developing D1. It's not just a flip of the switch. I would love old gen to be dropped, but that can't happen cause there are still lots of people on old gen and they can't just drop old gen towards the end of Destiny's cycle. Destiny 2 released at a weird time. It released at the end of old gens cycle which is tough for a live service because they basically shot themselves in the foot with that release time. Destiny has always been ambitious and it was Bungie's first go at a live service game. They made some fundamental mistakes that just cannot be reversed. Hell just look at the story. D2 story wasn't even planned in D1. They have just been improvising as they go. D2 is at the end of the life cycle. All we can do is hope they learned from these mistakes and improve on their new games, which Marathon seems to be doing.
@@CM-tv2bu Trials does not pull solid viewers at all and most of the viewers are just looking to win a raffle. Most people aren't watching just to watch. GernaderJake is the only crucible streamer who pulls viewers. Destiny needs crucible, but crucible has gotten worse and the game has gotten more popular so it's not a huge part of Destiny any more. It's just a side thing to do now cause Bungie disregarded it so much.
Play tarkov if you want to understand extraction shooters. It’ll teach you the intricacies of the genre as well as what has been done, what’s possible and why it’s fun and what level of fun, I think marathon will be a hit if it has good marketing and has little to no bugs or annoyances on day one release
I kinda agree that them pooling all their best devs into marathon sucks for D2. While I don't think "everything was better in forsaken", other than witch queen and a few choice season passes, I get this "the best times are over, we ran out of the good stuff" feeling. I enjoy D2 still, but no amount of amazing buildcrafting and foundational changes is gonna make the same old recycled activities be more fun.
Could it be ikora dying and her talking to him inside the traveler since the only reason they are alive now is because of the ghosts from the traveler?
Maybe this could be Cayden-7, but instead of using the normal hunter abilities, maybe the taken abilities that were introduced this season. The taken could have gotten back to his body, and maybe he survived being taken because he used to be a guardian and used the light
As soon as Lance died I thought they were going to have him go down hard for us and not in a Rohan kinda way. I mean legit giving the witness some mean left hooks and shoulder charges.
Marathon isnt a brand new IP for bungie, they release a game with the same name back in the late 90's or something, and now they are reviving that franchise again
It's really cool to have Cayde back but yeah it's because all other characters are boring. As for the other game, Marathon I'm honestly not interested, it's obviously PvP because that way they can monetize it more that way
In this video i saw a lot of people saying in chat "At least we got fishing", you need the season pass to do that and not all people want to buy it or they just can't 😕.
I feel like bringing back cayde is just a reminder of where we started out at the start of d2 but that's not necessarily good as everyone really disliked the red war and curse
Yes Destiny 2 ends at Final Shape. I’m hoping for a complete Destiny 3 with total subclasses and every location, but who knows with how live service goes
Crazy theory from sweat as always. Especially given they said multiple times and its been reported by multiple people bungie has said the final shape is the end of the light and darkness saga. Sweats guess that the final shape is the end of the light and darkness saga in the wake of that news seems like just the intelligent and worthwhile take you can expect from Sweat.
The biggest mindfuck for me is the game is and always has been built on pve content, but they balance around pvp. That in itself is commonly known, but all the pvp balance affects pve CONSTANTLY. Sandbox is so bad and sweat makes a great point of alot of good devs being stripped from destiny for the new game, whoever is in charge just doesnt seem to care or have any real passion for the franchise and its been quite apparent for some time

That would explain why Cade's eyes and Ace look a little like The Travelers Chosen sidearm
@@loonylenny or its taken energy
Final Shape has been planned for years most likely. they arent gonna kill him off before it
I have a feeling that the witnesses actions will inadvertently give us the ability to manipulate matter(the power to move planets). Marathons lore has a lot to do with entities fixing the events of the next universe to their liking, during the limbo period between the universe collapsing and the Big Bang. All these bungie games could be universes separated by big crunches and big bangs.
This man made it scientific 🫡
Cayde was never dead, he was in the DCV. Now we are all going to the DCV (through that portal)😂
He was too cool for the DCV
I feared DCV will never be realized. It'll cannibalize D3 sales.
if you're wondering they are inside the traveler, so hes not back completely, but might be in the game. ikora/ warlocks in general can do some weird mind stuff before their ghost resses them which is how ikora met cayde again
Why would her ghost be in there with her then? Also I don't see the portal opening up to enter the Traveler. I definitely see it as being a separate dimension, which is why we can't follow.
It’s through the portal, the portal was placed on the traveler but we never actually went through it
That’s not inside the traveler the portal leads elsewhere as the inside the traveller is a place that’s actually been seen by a guardian before. It’s in physical space and can be entered much like the pyramid shops
@@Cumbernumb so then why would the witness use the portal on the traveler to then go to a different dimension? makes no sense, its obviously inside the traveler
@@SeaJT why does that make no sense? It’s a place that he wants to go to that can’t be accessed without a portal made from a link between the veil and the traveler. And we literally have statement in lore of someone who’s actually gone inside the traveller prior
Arena shooters are old and boring and tired. Its time to move on
As cool as Cayde returning is, I am far more excited for Marathon. Marathon is my favorite FPS trilogy of all time, and any new game in the series, even a PvP Extraction Shooter, is a welcome breath of fresh air in my eyes. I am so excited to see where Bungie will take Marathon!
wdym trilogy?
@@Peppy318 Marathon, Marathon 2: Durandal, and Marathon Infinity are the trilogy.
@@Peppy318 Marathon 1994, Marathon Durandal 1995 and Marathon Infinity 1996 were Bungie's main games before Halo started production
@@Peppy318veryone above me is correct, but to give some background:
Marathon was originally developed and released in 1994 as a Macintosh-exclusive competitor to DOOM, which was exclusive to MS-DOS at the time.
@M Wilmott the 30th anniversary bundle in D2 also has alot of references to marathon.
Sbmm will definitely ruin this game
I'm a firm believer in sbmm making most competitive games better. This game absolutely should NOT have sbmm, that sounds like a disaster. I want to have a chance of randomly stumbling onto a player everybody knows, I want to be able to crush people I'm better than, I want people better than me to be able to crush me. In this type of game, skill should be rewarded as gear, as being able to survive when others wouldn't. That all just gets mellowed out by sbmm
@@neonoir__true if this game has sbmm its over for it
Zavalla is probably going to be some sort of sacrifice to make whatever plan we had to get into the portal on the traveler to work. we are gonna be scrambling and separated and he is going to be near whatever ritual spot we set up and he is going to make the sacrifice while telling us to finish this fight.
yea i see that
THey could probably use AI to keep Zavala going to finish the story
@@JohnSmith-ti9uq That'd be so disrespectful, hopefully they don't do that
@@savvysavvington yea with all the controversy over copyright and rights to use peoples voices, unless he specifically said you could do so after he passed then I’d say don’t use any AI voice synth do do that.
I'm with you Sweat. It sucks to see destiny down in order for them to make Marathon live

“Final shape will be the end of D2” Copium
I'm kinda worried that Bungie is gonna move away from Destiny to work on Marathon. They probably won't since they have separate teams for the games, but they're moving people from Destiny to Marathon, like you said, and that just makes the game suffer.
Cayde is/was the only character who had any sort of personality in Destiny, they were 100% going to bring him back. Now, will they keep him? For all we know they might as well do it... Or they can go the good old "Ikora sacrifices herself to save her friend from the dead" or even better the "But Cayde actually sacrifices himself to save Ikora because his time in life is already over"
I don't think Bungie will do anything too risky even if that could increase the story quality.
Edit: Really excited for Marathon. Here's hoping Bungie makes it as good as it looks.
I hope marathon won't replace destiny overtime
Cayde just got beavered into the shadow realm and we have to harness the power of the weasel to bring the witness in there so they can have an eververse microtransaction showdown.
Bungie showing off what their art team is capable of without the hardware limitations of last gen lol
For 10,000 silver you could get a new ornament for Ace of Spades.
its cayde's light remanents, its his soul that remains with the traveler
Marathon won't be a Destiny killer, it will be a Bungie killer.
Marathon is just destiny x tarkov
Marathon is Bungie's first game this is a marathon reboot
Hey sweat I know you probably won’t see this appreciate the longer videos lately you and your editor have been uploading lately
That's why they won't be making a D3 lol 🤣
I feel like Marathon will have to be something special if it want's to find it's place these days
Also love that it gets all these nice things we've wanted for D2 for years lol
That’s what I was thinking like the only extraction shooters I can think of are tarkov and Ubisofts new one they’re releasing which might flop if it lacks identity to what tarkov is. If they can do what Fortnite was able to with battle royale then yeah the game will be huge
@@RlVlNtarkov is a terrible game, with only merit being the inventor of the genre, so bungie really didn't even need to do that much to make a better game
@@Kamasillviatrue cheaters run mad rampant on tarkov all bungie needs to do is have better anti cheat slightly better gunplay monetization and they're set.
My guess is that is where dead gradians go and forget since light makes you forget stuff, so like the afterlife is in the Travaler
Honestly you, Gladd, and Joker have been on point for a while now.
Theories:
1. Cayde is an Exo. Ikora pieced him back together over the years and he Cayde is The Final Shape.
2. The team and guardians made it to the final shape mission thing and zavala sacrifices himself to bring back Cayde from the traveller
I feel like after the darkness and light saga, we will finally explore more about the vex and their origin, and purpose and created them, idkk
I wouldn’t mind seeing them make smaller, more spin-off-like DLC after final shape.
Missed the opportunity to show cayde as a human, kept the surprise by being saved by a hooded guy with the ace inside of the traveler and you find out it’s cayde Mann but hey this is still awesome
Future of destiny. The dumpster out back of my house.
Since they get production for seasons done at least 3 months before they come out, Zavalla is either going to
1) Die right at the end of Season 22 (Lightfall Season 3) (Lance likely did at least 90% of all his voice lines for this season, if not all of them)
2) Die whenever they feel it fits the story best in Season 23, as I find it likely that he's done some lines, but not all, for the season
Anyway, it's pretty certain that he's not making it to Lightfall, cause that's probably what they're focusing on right now in Bungie HQ, and most definitely did not have any script to give to Lance for him to record 3 months ago (1 month before he died)
Although I expected cayde to come back I'm still very happy and excited to see him back
3:26 that titan fired a grenade out of a 4th horsemen
The thing is, if you notice in the circle the guadians were fighting in, zavala wasn't there.. so it's a high probability that zavala DOES die.
Well with his VA passing it would make sense. It just wouldn’t feel right replacing him
so by that logic,:Drifter, Ikora, Shaxx ,Saint, Saladin and Anna are also likely dead because they also weren't in there? That cutscene is just a representation of "the guardians" rather than individual characters. Zavala is probably going to die During Final shape, but I'm not sure how this cutscene indicated that to you.
@@adambeck427 whenever there is a battle, zavala is always there. Always.
I don't have much hope for Marathon. I'm super excited for it but I don't know how it will turn out. Will Bungie fill it with more and more mtx like destiny 2 and also abandon big development on it when working on other projects? Will destiny get more after release?
Did you forget what they said back then? They literally said the final shape is the ending of a saga but a new one begins...
@@pracitus my bad, I should have worded better. I meant will destiny get more support, as in more resources, not continued development
6:03 My phone is charging but I'm going to scan that QR code later and see what it is.
Bro, Cayde was just chilling in the Bahamas with Biggie and Tupac. He never died.

Wonder how this will all play out
I think it might be like a ghost kinda thing, because it looks like their are inside the traveler
If you look carefully at Cayde specifically his eyes and his weapon.... It kind of looks like he is partially "Taken".
Pretty sure inside the traveler is like guardian heaven or something like that and that’s why he’s back
The moment they brought back Mara and her brother, I know that one day they will bring back Cayde too.
This is what's going on with their storytelling now a days. Introduced new character in a disservice way or the character themselves are just meh, so they have to revive old characters just to milk them dry.
someone mention that maybe the cayde we see here is the traveler version of a nightmare so a dream
They are inside the Traveler, which makes me think that the inside of the Trav is like Heaven for guardians

Destiny 3 is never gonna be a thing maybe another game in the destiny franchise but they will run d2 alongside marathon until the very last minute
At 6:04 there is a QR code on the worm and it takes you to a website with tonnes of code
Crucible is the only thing that keeps destiny alive during low months, trials pulls solid viewers most of the time
@@CM-tv2bu Trials does not pull solid viewers at all and most of the viewers are just looking to win a raffle.
The actor that played Cade took a small break to spend time with his family but now he's coming back to Cade again
Play tarkov if you want to understand extraction shooters. It’ll teach you the intricacies of the genre as well as what has been done, what’s possible and why it’s fun and what level of fun, I think marathon will be a hit if it has good marketing and has little to no bugs or annoyances on day one release
Bro imagine that Zavala transfers his light to Cayde before he dies
I kinda agree that them pooling all their best devs into marathon sucks for D2. While I don't think "everything was better in forsaken", other than witch queen and a few choice season passes, I get this "the best times are over, we ran out of the good stuff" feeling. I enjoy D2 still, but no amount of amazing buildcrafting and foundational changes is gonna make the same old recycled activities be more fun.
Could it be ikora dying and her talking to him inside the traveler since the only reason they are alive now is because of the ghosts from the traveler?
People in aztecross comments have some really good ideas on the final shape and I’m excited!
Maybe this could be Cayden-7, but instead of using the normal hunter abilities, maybe the taken abilities that were introduced this season. The taken could have gotten back to his body, and maybe he survived being taken because he used to be a guardian and used the light
This is just Cayde 6 as Cayde wasn’t made again. Also, that’s not Taken energy but pure Light that Ghaul had in Red War.
As soon as Lance died I thought they were going to have him go down hard for us and not in a Rohan kinda way. I mean legit giving the witness some mean left hooks and shoulder charges.
The moon with the structure punctured trough it and the planet behind it isnt supposed to resemble destiny. Its litteraly the marathon logo
I'm hoping that what they learn from the development of Marathon gets cross pollenated into Destiny. Be it in the Final Shape or what comes after.
anyone else notice the hunter pops bladedancer at the start
I feel like bringing back cayde is just a reminder of where we started out at the start of d2 but that's not necessarily good as everyone really disliked the red war and curse
Yes Destiny 2 ends at Final Shape. I’m hoping for a complete Destiny 3 with total subclasses and every location, but who knows with how live service goes
8:44 plot twist the cat is the coder
I guess Bungie are betting that releasing an extraction shooter on a downhill slope will at least let it gather momentum.
his reaction through the whole teaser "😐"
