I love these topics because I can relate. When you’re touching on “milking the opportunity”, it’s exactly what I did during my varsity years. I had a “there’s nothing to lose” mentality too. I volunteered to work as an assistant lecturer, i worked as a tutor. I served as a residence mentor. I helped kids with home works from my neighborhood. By the time I got employed, I was ready and perfectly equipped. Fast forward, in 2022 I won the National teachers award and in 2023 I came to teach in China and applying for my Masters in leadership in education. I’m still setting Thames on fire in my school. Leaving a remarkable footprint. Thank you for igniting the fire in my spirit. ❤
To think im an underdog.Coming from nothing, trying to Register for a career in Clinical Research, older, with nothing, but still dreaming.Wanting to have a Career, listening to you i realise and am grasping a lot. This was informative. Thank you Prof❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh WOW, Prof! Thank you. As a 35-year-old, divorced mother of 2 pursuing her Mcom in Tax and falling behind because of all the challenges that I've made excuses you have awakened my WHY! Representation is so important. Thank you.
Well articulated Prof. You look stunning. This - therefore, means that you do not do tools down - no matter how well educated you think you are - at the end of the day - it is your hard work not your certificates that speak for you. Very important message - many South African get it upside down...
Excellent points Prof. You are so on point. Am sharing with young ones all your material... keep inspiring sechaba se setsho Prof.. we are proud of you. Wish we had someone like you during our varsity days to inspire us.
Thank you so much Prof for sharing your wisdom, I was given three scholarships with a grand to study abroad and it did not go because I was afraid. I did not take the opportunity. I have learned the hard way. Now mother of 2 and going for my international qualification. Thanks to online learning.
This electrifying woman always makes me feel uncomfortable and yet leaves me super motivated. My takeaway can be many things but I choose to mostly remember that ACHIEVMENTS have an expiring date. I have worked really hard and smart for my undergrad and my reward was to study in Germany and travel other European countries after my last (3rd year) examination. It was a nomination from my Uni and they paid for everything. But now after I've listened to her talk, I feel very playful and that my International study achievement has expired. I love you Mama. May the Almighty keep you long. Tsela e ke e telele mmawe.
I'll come back here 6 if not 10 years from now to testify how milking opportunities and building a career led to my success and riches...Prof Phakeng reignited the flame🔥👏....Writing this at 21 yrs and as a prospective postgraduate student.
That's not true , they work for an organization from home that buy's them goods to be sold in our country . Check a lot of African countries doctors leave Thier countries to work as ordinary workers in european countries it's not only SA even Pakistans left their struggling countries instead of developing them.
