I've always connected with Jesse because he explains it so well. Engines, cars, and working on them, they all calm me down. Whether it's doing bodywork on my project truck, swapping the engine from my truck into a new frame, or even just driving... It makes me feel free. Something happens around 65 mph. It's like my soul can breathe for a bit and be free, it only for a little bit.
I hate how they retcon this movie in F9. Changing things and adding in new stuff just to serve the story in a particular moment is what pissed me off the most about the movie. Thankfully the next two movies are meant to wrap up the series because after seeing Roman and Tej take a rocket powered Pontiac Fiero into space, I don't know how much more of this bastardization of something I grew up with I can take.
Jesse was always the most normal in the group

So glad i quit the franchise after 7 which was already at a weird point but whatever, a great heartfelt goodbye for brian/paul
I wasn't a fan of what they did in F9 either. Also in the opening race scene in F9 which takes place in 1989 they appear to have stock cars from 10 years in the future. A small part of me wishes the series went in a different direction and had Brian and Rome stay in Miami after the events of 2Fast 2Furious.
I did have a tuna sandwich with no crust years ago and ate it again back in 2017 for the tribute of Paul Walker

The Fast And The Furious truly was a perfect example of capturing lightning in a bottle. You could tell that the movie had alot of heart in it and while I know the dialogue was loaded with cheese, it bled personality for each character. And I don't know if it is just me, but I honestly think this is the best acting Vin Diesel has done when compared to any of the other F&F movies. In the more recent films, he just comes off as lazy and uninterested.
Dom had a lot of diverse lines in this compared to the later films

To me it's still the most quotable film and honestly it gets better over the years. It's the most down to earth and humanized of the entire franchise.
And did you notice that Vin Diesel had way more lines in the first film than every subsequent film?

I thought the police set up Brian to follow Dom and save him in order to gain Dom's trust, even if it did mean damaging a couple of cars.

Early 2000s I've seen like 10 races where people race for pinks in socal. Half the time they if they loose they would keep running like jesse or argument/fight would break out lol good times

The fact that this series started off with a Tuna sandwhich dispute is insane.
I've watched this film so many times, and yet every time I watch it I always have a big grin on my face through the whole thing. Even though its cheesy as hell it will always be my favourite film, period.
I think if Rob Cohen came back to direct the second F&F, it might of been gone a different direction with the franchise. Well atleast for F&F2, it might of had the same down to earth and humanizing feel as the first one. It might of also gone a different direction as well, ...maybe for F&F3 because F&F4 doesn't have all that craziness that the started happening with the recent ones.

@@cerealkiller1575 Clutch to neutral then clutch to gear. That's the "textbook" way of upshifting a tractor trailer.
The only reason i would is to reduce wear on my clutch but you gotta be really fast to pull this off in a race
@@TacoMan99 I used this, when the synchro rings were worn out in my old corolla to get into gear smoother and not wear them down any further. In old cars you can use it aswell. But in Racing today it is pretty useless. Tapping the gas on downshifts (heel and toe) is sth. that was useful until cars were taught to do that by themselves. But since we're talking about a drag race here, I don't see the benefit in it either.

1:42 To be completely honest, I relate to both Jesse and The Racing Joker a lot, as I too have really bad ADD, which has brought me a hecka lot of challenges academic wise. At the same time, this franchise was the whole reason that I got into cars in general, and watching many of these videos has given me a new appreciation for both the car community and this franchise as a whole.
Having actually watched the movie now it's insane how *ahem* fast the first ten-fifteen minutes are- afterwards the movie slows down a lot as Brian gets to know the Team

I think you can try to open up your noise gates a little more, if you're using OBS you can type in the settings yourself. That or check what the best audio encoder could be to get rid of that crackle on your mic.
You think it could be the noise gate? It’s been working fine up until this point
@@TheRacingJoker Ive had the issue if my noise gate was around ~23-20. Itll keep most noises from going through but my mic would crack because most of my syllabkes would also pop in and out.
But you can always record and test yourself. Again tho, cables and even mic levels in windows can be the main cause if crackky noise. (Assuming you have windows)
On most streams i make sure to boost the gain a bit on my equalizer, tune the compressor to about ~28db and then a limiter around ~18-20db

Brian has no integrity, we find out in the next movie that before he was a cop he was a car thief and he’s o my coveted by the undercover program because of his driving skills, not necessarily because he’s a good cop. Oh and that interlude kind of thing that takes place in between this movie and the second one we find out that he just left la without explaining his involvement in the truck heist, he has a grey area moral compass

True but that wasn't his car, the police gave Brian his Eclipse. All he got was a telling off from the Officer. God the Eclipse looked so good.

Not sure if anyone thought of this but, even if that final heist was successful Dom and the gang would still be in trouble since they had a literal fight with Tran and his boys a few hours earlier, knowing Tran's violent tendencies they'd probably have to either lay low or skip town afterwards, he obviously knows where they live since he did exact revenge and shot up the house killing Jessie,nothing was stopping him from finding every last one of Dom's family members and killing them after they finished the heist

Pink slips is actually a term I heard being used irl. Even though it was after this movie, I don't think the movie popularised the term, games maybe,or maybe it's actually what people use, I'm not really sure, but the fact is, people do use it.

It's amazing looking back and realizing these movies were actual soap operas.
A 20-mile hike would have taken about 10 hours to get back. Maybe a little less, but average walking speed is about 2 miles per hour. It would have been dawn by the time they got home.

My knowledge of walking speed comes from years ago when I was in Boy Scouts and we'd go on hiking trips. On average we'd walk about 2 miles every hour through mountain trails with backpacks on. A person on the street carrying nothing might be able to walk a little faster than that but over 20 miles I think 2 MPH a pretty safe estimate.

The crush I had on letty when this film was released was unhealthy I swear, either way this was a huge part of my teenage years and all these years later it's just a timeless classic that will never get old. Great cast, great story line, great build up and suspense, great ending I mean what much more could you want?

You know I’m not sure, I left the UK in my 9th year of school so I never got to drive in one of my favourite countries in the world. Hopefully one day I’ll find out what we can call it
Sadly the V5 is just who is responsible for taxing the vehicle. There isn't really an official proof of ownership other than say a receipt
From what I remember from the commentary, the actors were encouraged to ad lib to make it seem more organic.

The first F&F is actually really good at storytelling. Which is a bit looses with all of that blockbuster stuff so you wonder every time you watch the film. If someone would ask me in common situation I'll say it's my least favourite of first three. But if you would catch me on rewatch I'll speak outloud: "THIS ONE IS THE BEST". That's may occur to be strange but it is how I feel.

The opening car race always confused me. Why is Brian betting an $80000 car against a $5000 purse. What if he would have come in with a $900 car? That's what I was driving in 01.
He was undercover and was trying to befriend Dom.

One thing that always got me, Brian knows it's a 20 mile hike to Doms... but Dom doesn't find it suspicious that Brian knows where he lives after just meeting him? Then Leon tells Dom they were just about to go looking for him... when it would have taken 5 hours minimum for them to walk back.
He could be referencing the Deli. That's what I imagined Brian would point to.
When Johnny Tran approached on the bike and they follow him off the main road, chances are Dom was probably filling Brian in on how far they were from the house seeing as they would be delayed with Tran. As for Leon and Vince, I dunno they probably just thought he's a big boy, he'll he grand let's party on.

@@TheRacingJoker in movies, in general, this is a troupe I've noticed. If the main character gets a sandwich they always hate crusts. It's not always the main character, but they always make it a point to have someone insist on removing the crust.
