I bought these guitars with my own money:).
Here's my round-up review of the 5 Best Electric Guitars Under $200! It was really fun to test these guitars out, and dive deep into all the bits and pieces of each axe!
Aand OFC, this video has sound samples! Played with the same amp, with same settings!
Text version of this review: guitaristnextdoor.com/best-el...
I used Roland Micro Cube GX-amp for sound samples, you can check its latest price on Amazon here: amzn.to/3r32tuk
After my testing, none of these guitars is a complete NO NO in my opinion, and these axes still surprised me in a good way! And these definitely are nice options for beginners too!

😎
In the first 5 seconds I was like "The Jackson looks the coolest" so when he said it himself I stood up and clapped.
haha😂
thanks for commenting!😊👍
Jacksons are purely metal. Pointy and badass. I love the way they look.
I am very impressed by your thoroughness and objective detail. I could tell you made a significant effort to develop and execute an extremely comprehensive review of these guitars using objective, evidence-based methodology. Very well organized and easy to understand. Probably the most professional comparison review I have ever watched on UA-cam! I sincerely appreciate the time and effort you put into this work. Keep it up! You’ve earned my subscription and more. I wish you the best of luck.
BTW: The executive level skills you have demonstrated here would easily land you a career in product marketing and research. Your skill set is up to par with major industry standards in any sector.
Thank you, Bob. You don't even know how much that means to me😊 It took quite a bit of time to make this video and the production quality is not high, since my skillset is not in video making, yet. But I'm really happy you liked the video and I really tried my best with all that I had at the time of making this video. Thank you for your nice words and for subscribing, I love to have people like you on board😎👍
Thank you for making this Video, all of that 5 is in my List in buying a guitar. thank you so much
Awesome if the video helped! thank you for commenting!😊👍
Great review, very in depth. Thanks for helping me choose my first guitar ✌🏽
thank you for saying that!😊👍
I'm glad if I was able to help😊...just curious, which one did you chose?😎
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 For a few weeks I couldn’t decide between the Jackson JS22 or the Ibanez GRX70QA. I think the Jackson looks really cool, but in the end after watching your reviews I’m going with the Ibanez for it’s versatility, as I’m just a beginner guitarist and think it’s going to be a better guitar to learn on.
Really appreciate the effort you put into your reviews, keep up the good work. You’ve earned my subscription. Looking forward to seeing more great content from you in the future 😎
@Kane Scobie Thank you for subscribing too!😊I helps a lot, hopefully I will crush the 1k subs marker soon👍
And I agree, a versatile instrument is usually the best option when buying a first guitar. And this Ibanez is pretty much versatile as it gets at this price range👌
Let me and the others know how you like it here in the comments after you got the chance to play it👍😎
Thanks for making this video man🌹🎸❤️
no problem! thank you for watching and I'm glad if the video helped you out😊👍
very honest and useful review!
Thanks! I'm super happy that you liked the vid! and thanks for taking the time to comment😊👍
I've been playing for decades on many stages, in many studios, and I PREFER budget guitars that I upgrade/tweak myself.
These are not JUST for 'beginners'. Excellent video! 😎👍
that's 100% true man👌
one friend(playing since 2004) that works with me on my GND website ended up buying Ibanez featured on this vid. He is loving it😎using it to record his own stuff
thank you for commenting and for compliments😊👌 I'm not really happy with the quality of this video😅, but hopefully it's at least helpful...😊
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 Well, for the amount of subscribers you have, you got an excellent number of views for it. So, it's a decent enough video for them to watch! And, it's us being critical of ourselves which propels us to improve. I'm still that way decades later! 😎👍
@Axess2084 that's true, I'm definitely not going to complain about views, haha. This vid has gotten its views mostly through a UA-cam search, got lucky with it😊.and it's good that something pushes us to improve😎
Well said I have 5 squiers ranging from 249.00 to 479.00 very few mods maybe bridge saddles and one has a Duncan quarter pounder. All I set up with minimal bow in neck 1/16" at least fret for high e,g,b 3/32" for low e,a,d change our some potentiometers and wiring, some pearl aged white Pickgaurds for cosmetic and even the affinity feels like a 500 to 600 dollar guitar.
@Rob Phillips thanks for revealing your experiences man!😊👍
I have owned 3 of these guitars over the years and I agree. I kept the Jackson Js22 because its definitley the best for the money.
Great axes! Jackson is awesome, especially for metal...I miss my copy, haha, had to sell it before moving...thanks for commenting:)
I really liked the thorough tone comparisons. I have this exact epiphone, just picked up a 2012 version of that ibanez gio in the same colour, and am seriously considering getting the Jackson. Hearing them together really has me wanting the Jackson!!!
Thanks for commenting!😊
Cool! Amazing guitars for the price! And that Jackson is a great one...chugs surprisingly well, plus feels superb👌👍
Shooted tone comparisons like this because I like thorough comparison too😎
I ended up trading in the Ibanez for a brand new JS32Q DKA HT in purple. Such a good guitar!! Also picked up a Katana 50 MKII because the Jackson deserves something nicer than my old Line6 Spider IV 15.
@JoeButler02 awesome! Jackson is better with metal for sure, plus it felt higher in quality😎 I actually bought Katana 50 Mkii a couple of weeks ago too! amazing amp👌
Very useful video, tnx a lot ❤❤
Thank you for saying that☺️👍
Many thanks. 80s metal fan here. My dilemma was between Squier Strat and Ibanez. Great demo video!!
Thank you for commenting!😊👍
I'm glad if my video helped you to solve the dilemma😎👌

I have Jackson D11 (for rocksmith, so basicly I dont even know how to play guitar... 🤷♂) allready and I wanted to have a C-cut friend for him. So I decided to order ESP - LTD EC-10. Im actally really glad that I did because I like playing metal 😃 Good reviews... Torilla tavataan!
Thanks man! Great that you have started playing the guitar(rocksmith is great, especially for getting started. it motivates to play), I think both those guitars are really great choices. Näin tehdään!😎
You're definitely Finnish, I know that for sure as I am too lol. Thank you for this really in depth video. It's been the most helpful one I have found so far!
you might be onto something captain Jack....😂
thank you for watching/commenting and awesome that the video helped you out!😎😊
ps...which one are you going to choose...just curious😆
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 Either the Jackson or Ibanez, but I really can't decide. Im not exactly sure which one as this it would be my first guitar. I know the Ibanez would be good all around but I really liked how the Jackson sounded. Not that I disliked the Ibanez, I think it sounded great as well but, yeah, this is my dilemma as of right now lol
@Daniel Anchor if you like the sound of the Jackson more, I would choose that one. it's not as versatile as Ibanez, but it's no one-trick pony either. It has a slightly thicker neck than the Ibanez, but it was comfortable to play for sure, even for my small hands😎
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 Alright, cool! Thanks for replying so quick! I'm gonna get the Jackson then. It'll be more for what I wanna play I bet
@Daniel Anchor hopefully you will love it! let me and the others know how you like here in the comments after receiving it if you want😎👌
Really thank you
No problemo! Awesome if I were able to help!
I couldn't decide between the Ibanez or the Jackson I ended up spending more and got the Jackson js32 because of the Floyd Rose awesome video and thanks for helping me decide very happy with my Jackson. I will look at more of your videos as I just subscribed.
Awesome that I was able to help! That Jackson JS32 is a great shredder!👌 Thank you for your support, it means a lot :)
It’s amazing how our ears can be so different. For some reason every time I heard the Ibanez with crunch or distorted tones I cringed because it sounded so bad.
It's great that we can find sound demos easily nowadays, otherwise, we should only trust the opinions of others when researching online😎👌
now you know that you can skip Ibanez axes with Infinity pickups😊
thanks for commenting again👍
Yes its weird only the Ibanez sounded bad on high gain but from what I've seen on other reviews it sounds nothing like this
@@HarshvardhanKanthode doesn't sound bad to me😎 what do you think, does it sound different in this newer video of mine: ua-cam.com/video/Y9W40txaQU0/v-deo.html
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 it probably had a lot to do with conformation bias because I had already decided on a Jackson. The reality is I am a beginner and every guitar I play sounds horrible 😆
@m1ghtysauc3 haha, you will learn fast and I bet that it can't be any worse than my playing when I started😂
Getting my self a les paul finally!

I got Squier HSS Jackson JS22 & Ibanez GRG121DX. For metal i prefer JS22. For normal GRG121DX & Squier will do. But over all i love Squier HSS as the tones are amazing... now planning to get Ibanez AS73 semi hollow..
cool! and the Squier sounds really good for sure, really underrated pickups on that one! and I have heard good things about Ibanez Hollow-bodies, they seem to be great😎
thanks for commenting!👍😊
I was 90% sold on the Ibanez now I'm 100% sold just the video that I needed thanks for helping me decide.
Awesome! Glad that I was able to help, hopefully you are happy with that axe😊👍
the leas paul sounds so great for me
I agree with you! In a matter of fact I was just playing it(practiced some fingerpicking because I suck at it) before noticed a new comment of yours😎
thanks for commenting!😊👍
These electric gwitters sound pretty decent, at least compared to the one i have that was $100 bundled with a little amp.
I believe you! 100%😊👍thanks for commenting!😎
Great review man, but I just gotta ask I saw your review on the pacifica 012 and what do you think about it compared to these five guitars
thanks for commenting😊👍
that Pacifica 012 is the best guitar under $200 with the Ibanez GRX70QA in my opinion. Both are really versatile and easy to play. Ibanez is better with metal, Pacifica gives you more classic rock and blues type of tones because of its single-coils.
I have a comparison video about those: ua-cam.com/video/6OgcJ8vIvzw/v-deo.html
Pacifica of course is easily comparable to Squier Bullet Strat HSS.... Squier has brighter Single-coils and gives some of that Fender Stratocaster magic for you. Pacifica 012's are more consistent with quality due to my experienced and Pac012 is also a bit more versatile IMO😎👍
The quality checker agrees the result ; )

@@stephanpayne9647 Ah ok thank you!

man what about epiphone les paul vs squier tele, im so confused rn which one should i get? anyway awesome review man!
I was actually going to include it in this video, but it was out of stock back then. but I have still played one in music store😎
It offers brighter tones than Les paul, but warmer than Strat with 3 single coils.
and I personally like the playability of Tele more than LP's, because it enables you to reach upper frets easier😊
but humbucker tones of LP's are really warm and full, and work better with distortion👌plus, LP's strings are easier to press down because of shorter scale
hopefully this helped you, thanks for commenting, compliments and support😊👍😎
The Fender has the best tones on all off the settings Leas Paul next.
thanks for commenting!👌 I really loved the tones of Bullet Strat too! It's underrated to say at least😎
The way he says guitar tho😂😂😂
:D
I’m leaning towards getting the Ibanez or Jackson the Ibanez because it looks like it has HSH pickups but the Jackson because it looks really nice, I’m not quite sure what to go with haha.
hi!
Ibanez is more versatile.
Jackson is better with metal.
booth feel great to play, Ibanez has a thinner neck😎👌
thanks for commenting!👍😊
A Kramer Baretta special is a no brainer too ! I own several guitars and my Kramer is by far the cheapest ......and also the most played ! I love it and it was $179 ! Can't beat it !
What guitar is the best for the rock?
which guitar would be able to play indie music but also metal and rock music? i want to make sure i get the right guitar. also great video !!
thanks for commenting and for the compliments😊
I would try to find a guitar with both humbuckers and single-coils, like Ibanez GRX70QA or maybe this Yamaha PAC 012, both are really versatile😎
but ofc, choose which sounds best to you
here's my review of Yamaha Pac 012: ua-cam.com/video/D7hEUVimp80/v-deo.html
here's a comparison video of those 2 guitars I mentioned: ua-cam.com/video/6OgcJ8vIvzw/v-deo.html

@@guitaristnextdoor8430 thank you so much !! after watching your comparison video i’m going with the ibanez !! thank you so much for your help. great video with amazing details. i subscribed !
@@dezireegomez2769 awesome if my videos helped☺️👍
I really like both axes, but the Ibanez has stayed with me, its so easy to play for me and I love the neck humbucker😎let us know your opion of it when you get the chane to play it if you want☺️👌
So I’m a Michael Jackson fan , which one of these would sound better playing a mj song or the weekend song, or like any song in those two artist categories? It’s a hard chose for me. Top 3 is the Jackson , Ibanez and that strat HSS
I would probably go with Strat HSS for that kind of stuff. But that's just me. What sounds best to you? Thank you for commenting!
Firstly thx alot for the helpfull video , i narrowed my options to ibanez grg121dx and grx 70qa , i like trash, grove , heavy metal - crunch - and blues , 70qa sounds to me more bright , warm but 121dx shape , style i fall in love , really desperately need help , cant decide
Thank you for commenting! To me, GRX70Q is more versatile and GRG121DX is better for the heavy stuff. It's true that the tone of GRX70QA is more treble-heavy than with GRG121DX. But as I said, I would choose GRG121DX for metal and GRX70QA for versatility😎
Man the Jackson sound good
I 100% agree with you man!😊👍
If you could only pick one, which would it be?
Real big question, is the jackosn a single coil? Because i really want to play indie music on a guitar, the quality and sound of it is amazing but i really want to know if it can play a song like "where is my mind by pixies"
thanks for commenting!😊👍
It doesn't have single coils, it has humbuckers(2 pickups and both those have two coils). 😎 In this video Ibanez has single coil in the middle and Squier has 2 single coils (neck and middle)
but at least on live performances, Pixies have acoustic guitar and less paul with humbuckers😎don'y know which guitars they used when recording it tho....
😮
you can play that kind of music with Jackson without sounding too bad, but we have to remember that it is a metal guitar😊
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 thank you for responding 👍🏽
@Spwiz no problem at all! I'm here to help😊👌
I think you can play it but you have to double your effort to dial it dow since it's high output. My opinion is to get mid outputs one.
@@lilwayne1994 true👌thanks for commenting☺️👍
what do you think about epiphone sg ve? is that a good guitar for metal and rock at this price range?
Thank you for commenting!😊 It has lots of similarities with Epi's Les Paul Special VE, for example, same pickups. So I think that it's a pretty nice option, and it can do rock and metal. Tuners seem to be the same as with Les Paul, so those are probably the worst thing with that SG too, but those below-average tuners didn't ruin the guitar completely for me. 😎👍
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 ok thank you for the answer 👍

thank you for commenting!😊👍
Les Paul VE would be my fav for that. Ibanez'es neck humbucker gives pretty sweet mellow tones IMO too👌😎
But I think that none of these sucks with mellow tones😊
amazing video! is there any difference between the ibanez gio grx70qa and the ibanez grx70qa (without the gio)?

@Szymon Kot choosing a versatile guitar is a smart move when starting out😎👍
I had an HSS start when I started, it offered versatility and I played all sorts of stuff with it during my first 5 years with the guitar😊👌
Also, Yamaha Pac012 is a pretty cool guitar too when searching versatility: ua-cam.com/video/Tv0qTL43WX8/v-deo.html

@@guitaristnextdoor8430 nice, right now im thinking about the 112j, ill check the review out (btw im left handed so ibanez is gone lol)
Is it just me or does the Jackson js22 seem to have the fullest and thickest sound among the 3 strat shaped guitars in clean, crunch and distortion? The ibanez seems to sound a bit thin.
at least the distortion of Jackson JS22 is the thickest in my opinion. Especially the bridge bucker of Ibanez doesn't provide a very full sound, but neck humbucker does IMO😎
thanks for commenting!😊👍
I got JS22 & JS32. The pick up is high out put that is why its sound to the fullest. And I too got GRG121DX which is mid range pick up unless you get an RG Series which I too got an RG320EXZ where the pick up is almost the same as Jackson but which I still prefer the Humbucker of Jackson. Just sound amazing...

Hi! Fender Mustang LT25, VOX Valvetronix VT20X, or Boss Katana MKII 50 😎
Which one do yu say is the best of them for a beginner ?
Forgot to highlight this in the video, but ofc, this video and axes on this price range are for beginners, but still, sorry!
I think that sound wise the Ibanez gives you most, ofc if metal is your thing the Jackson JS22 would be my choice.
But otherwise, Ibanez. Playability wise, Ibanez and Jackson and, Squier maybe fit beginners the best. But of course this depends on so many factors that it's hard to say which is the best for you.
It really depends on what you want to play, Metal=Jakson, Everything=Ibanez, Rock, Jazz, Funk with slightly cheaper price and some Fender mood=Squier.
Hopefully this helped...:)
And thanks for commenting!
Thanks, that helped a lot

And it's not the best for heavy distortion, that's for sure😮
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 Sadly not, but the HSS Squier configs let you get some good hi-gain sounds while still having access to single-coil tones. The SSS one, though, definitely isn't suited for hard rock or metal.
@Gelatinous true, SSS is especially bad with heavier stuff, but it sounds solid with lighter music IMO😎👌
What do you think is better despite the cost, jackson js22 dinky or jackson js32 dinky. I'm lost 😕

If I could afford js32, I would get it, if not, I would get Js22☺️
Thanks for commenting👍
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 thank you for your response. I love your detailed informative videos. btw I watched almost all of them.
The only thing that is holding me from the js32 is the floyd rose quality, I don't know if I wanna deal with the headache and if it's really worth it the extra 100 euros that I could invest in a set of pickups. Since both guitars are almost identical. Thank you again.
@azazeel Lucifer thank you for watching my videos😊😊
it's true that cheap floyd roses can be a bit undependable sometimes. I would say that floyd rose is worth it if you really want an floyd rose...if not, buying the JS22 dinky is smarter.
btw. when I answered you previously, the non-floyd rose JS32 was actually in my mind, it offers quilted maple looks and a different bridge, but no tremolo arm: www.jacksonguitars.com/gear/shape/dinky/js-series-dinky-arch-top-js32q-dka-ht/2918809585 ,
but if your budget is around $300, getting a JS22 and upgrading pickups is a great option, that's for sure👌 JS22 is one of the most upgradable guitars under $200 that I have played because my copy felt so good to play, and it had that feel of a more expensive guitar.😎
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 I didn't know about the js32q without floyd rose, I checked it out. It looks killer in "hulk" green. It has some little extras over the js22. Before I order one from the jackson website I will see if some music shops in my city have those guitars so I can try them and make a final decision. And who knows I might be happy with the jackson pickups and there might be no need to upgrade to an expensive Duncans or dimarzio. Because a pair will be more expensive than the guitar itself 😅 probably a pair of wilkinson will do. Just have to do more research on which one is best. Thank you 😊 for your time. Love your Content and keep up the good work 🎸
@azazeel Lucifer yeah, that JS32 is a cool option👌 and it's wise to test that out👍 and for starters it will be a great guitar even without the upgrades, but with upgraded pickups, it will sound really good😍

@@guitaristnextdoor8430 thanks for responding i just bought it from local shop and it sounds good but my marshall mg 15 amp on the high gain situation cant make my fav metal tone
But i like it anyway
cool! I'm glad that you liked it, and I agree, marshall mg15 can't handle metal tones so well. it's still a nice amp tho 😎
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 im sorry but would you please reccomend me a distortion pedal or effect that can do heavy metal with my gear
@@user-rp1pd5gm8l I made video about Marshall MG with distortion pedal, check it out: ua-cam.com/video/qHnEghuD2yM/v-deo.html
It's not my fav pedal, but a decent budget option😎
What’s the song for for distortion section
Something sloppy I just made up, haha. Thanks for commenting! :)
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 haha no way take that as a compliment I guess lol I actually wanted to learn it with my js22
@@jhny5048 Thanks! :)
Jackson or epiphone for hi-gain ?
Jackson. As I said in the video it's the best metal guitar for this price...unless you want to play some other stuff with high gain...
thank you for commenting :)
Agreed.... JS22 for high gain. Worth it.
jackson js22 monarkh pls
thanks for commenting!😊
unfortunately I can't promise anything😮😎
Thanks for your complete review. I watched all of them and it realy helped me.
What do you think about Ibanez RG250 BK & ESP-LTD MH-10 ?
Can you give a brief comparison of these guitars with those 5 guitars ? For someone who has metal priority and wants some versatility.
Very Thank you!!
Thanks for watching and commenting man!👍😊
Unfortunately, I don't have access to those guitars, I just bought these 5 myself...
But according to ESP site, only real difference between EC-10 and MH-10 is the body shape. Same pickups, same body woods, same tuners, and same neck shape. So those are tonally pretty much identical, so this video gave you a good idea about the tones of that.
I would personally choose Jackson JS-22 Dinky over MH-10 or EC-10.👌
I'm not familiar with Ibanez RG250, it's not available in my region and after using Google, I didn't really found it to be sold anywhere😕
Hopefully this helped!😊

Thanks for your tips. I was very happy after watching your video and find out how good is that Jackson but in my region i can't find that jackson and ibanez you introducted in video. And because that LTD hasn't versatility i have to buy that epiphore. i have two another questions. is that epiohore's tuning change when we play that? or just after a few hours we must tune that again?
and do you know facts about Cort CR series like CR150 and if there is suitable for metal genres?
Thanks a lot again
@Mehrdad Mirzaei Oh okey...well the Epiphone has worse tuning stability than the others, but this minus doesn't ruin it for sure😎
I play it frequently, and it's fun to play and has nice tones, for this price range, these tuning issues are not that bad, but worth mentioning for sure. so you don't have to tune it all the time, just more than the other guitars on this video
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Cort electric guitars at all... and it looks that model you have in your mind is not available in my region either😕
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 OK. your review and comments very helped me and i am very appreciate that. good luck bro
@Mehrdad Mirzaei Thank you and GL too!😊👍 I'm glad if I'm able to help!😎
What Jackson model is it?
thanks for commenting😊👍
JS22 Dinky...quick tip: Exact model is stated in the video both in written and spoken format, plus you can usually find info like this from the description. that's easier for everyone😎👌
Jack Ok
It surely is!👌
Thanks for commenting!😊
So what would u do.
Buy the best structural $200 Guitar and spend $200 on new part or another Electric Guitar and put all the best part together?
$400 is my limit atm.
I spent $2600 on my Acoustic/Electric so I gotta save alittle. Lol
thanks for commenting!😊👍
right now, with my limited time, I would just buy around $400 electric and rock with it. But buying a cheaper one and upgrading it a bit can work very well too.
buying a $400 electric is easier and saves time
buying $200 guitar and upgrades can get you a unique axe that sounds like you want. but all this takes time with researching and installing upgrades.
Personally, I wouldn't bother buying 2 guitars to mix the best parts of both, you still end up with 1 around $200 guitar, and 1 pretty bad guitar😎
curious...what electric-acoustic did you get?
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 A Martin HD-28E (Fishman Electronics)
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 thank you for the help man!
@WILSHIRE25 that's a cool guitar😍 I'm glad if I managed to help you out😊👍
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 Thanks and absolutely u did. I appreciate it. I know Acoustics, idk Electric at all. I think I woulda made the huge mistake of buying by look if it weren't for this vid and u.
Ibanez or Jackson ?
thank you for commenting😊👍
I answered that question on the video...but anyway...in my opinion:
Ibanez is best overall for versatility
Jackson is best for metal
😎👌
@@guitaristnextdoor8430 sorry to bother you but is the esp ltd ec10 a good choice ?
How come you pronounce the word "guitar" differently than how us americans say it? Are you German? Swedish? No offense just curious is all 😘
thanks for commenting😊👌
I'm from Finland and the way of pronouncing letters how they are pronounced here has sunk deep into my brain haha😂😅maybe I'll learn...
''guitar'', ''all'', and, ''almost'' are especially impossible to pronounce correctly if I don't focus on the pronounciation😅
Over all JACKSON is the best..
It's a solid one!
Would have been better, if host didn't start out sentences nice and strong, but in most cases, his commenting volume level falls down into little more than muttering. Hard to understand comments at that level. As an American, I also struggled with his accent, when his speaking level falls way low. I am not racist by any means, I salute anyone who speaks multiple languages. Ir shows intelligence at a higher level. I'm only commenting on his speaking levels. Needs to be more consistent. ALSO, most important! he needs to listen to his recordings. If he doesn't like to do that, why should anyone else?
Thanks for commenting and giving feedback☺️👍
Your voice is dropping at the end of your sentence, cannot understand what you are saying, whispering

He is greek
almost.....Finnish😂

get a real guitarist to show them... Fingertips on a LP type guitar does not 'work' at all.
