I remember my kiddos watching me through the window when they were little. When they got a little older, 8-12, I started teaching them how to use my tools. They all know how to fix their own stuff now that they have their own houses.

Was excited to see you posted a new video. Great that you revisited an old project, even if you had forgotten at first. Those were really simple easy steps to follow. I may try doing one with a felt bottom cover.
Fun seeing how your helpers have grown too.

Nice! I thought about doing that for this project. I was going to attach the felt to the wood before glowing the bottom in place that way there was no gaps.

Nice project! I would say that it's important to dispose of the towels you use with the boiled linseed oil appropriately as soaked rags can spontaneously combust

Great video. I made one years ago. I made inlays covered in felt so can change the colors of the bottom. Also put a finger hope to make it easy to lift out..

Great project... I am curious why you decided on such a thick oak board for the bottom, instead of a 1/4 ply of some sort?

Great question! The piece of oak only cost me $10. Even a half sheet of plywood would have cost me more money in the long run and I would have to get something like an oak veneer which I don't think would have lasted as long. It also has a much higher tendency to splinter on top which isn't conducive to a beginner project. I think you can buy small pieces of plywood at the craft store that would have worked and probably save money. However the glue from plywood is also hard on saw teeth. So I guess I'm kind of conflicted. lol. It would work.

Why would you start the video with slammin a beer. That's legit a terrible example.
