This is shit tutorial. Because of bumps around the stiching where leather meets alcantara(stitched together)
I know the video is sped up, but handling the double-sided tape like that blew me away. It usually takes me 27 F-bombs and razor blade to get a single piece done! Great video.

I did this on my previous M2, then this tutorial didn't exist unfortunately. This was a really good video showing how to handle a few of the challenges with getting the overlay aligned and such. Also, the double sided tape is a really good thing which my kit didn't come with.
This is the best video I've seen! Also the best installation! However I feel like the middle part if the steering wheel needs updating alongside otherwise you can tell it's aftermarket

Да нормально я на Солярисе так делал без скотча норм держится, на ф30 тоже лежит такая оплетка с алика думаю без скотча попробовать только у меня руль другой бичевый который🤔
@@manzh920причем тут скотч, некоторые производители на заводе шьют рули и тоже скотч клеят. Я про оплетку , все закрепки на строчке возле спиц неакуратно сделаны, очень в глаза бросаются это как минимум. Хорошая машина, зачем этот колхоз.

Unfortunately, the cover i received doesn't seem to match the cuts you have on this display one. and has lots of excess around the sides.
I had the same problem
Do what I did, cut it to fit, and then make sure you glue down the existing thread so it doesn't come undone. Then just tuck it into your wheel.
That was hella clean!

Doesn't effect self driving but does mean the heated wheel takes longer to warm up and will be slightly cooler than before

How much you charge for installing?
With tape it’s easier to install it and it would not spin loosely when you gripping the wheel firmly.

BMW's do have "virginity" seals, in the back of the steering wheel - its where you need to unscrew airbag, to detach steering wheel - once you break them, there is no way to seal it again. This can lead to lower the car value as customers may know about it, check if they are there and be suspicious that car had accident because of getting into airbag etc.
So on car is actually better...

so instead i’m going to buy the actual genuine bmw m-performance steering wheel that comes stock with alcantara and carbon fiber.

Hi im glad you asked. And before we go there I do this for a living on some of the most prestigious cars. When you sew 2 ends of hide together, when its been skived thin, the leather can become very sensitive to being pulled, too tight and we have lines like we have in the video @11:49 and really apparent @12:17 , yes it does look oem , but not oem on a BMW or even a Bentley for that matter ;) it feels bumpy under your fingers, and since when we can detect the slightest imperfection with our touch. It will "do ones head in". Lets just say it wouldn't pass quality control

@@johnsev3046 fair enough, you would not want to see how mine came out then haha... i didn't use the double sided tape and the back of my wrap is completely loose and bumpy. the front actually came out decent but I def could've done much better. wish I knew about the heat trick. so the thread shouldnt be very tight? the curves make it extra hard
