I’m from the States. Corvettes are everywhere here. Very capable car, far quicker than an Emira- but I just don’t want one (the looks of it don’t help; subjective, I know). The Emira speaks to me: manual gearbox, simple, hydraulic steering, smaller footprint. I’ve had one on order more than two and a half years at this point.

@@HiHi-bd4rn I’ve been typically driving it around town when I know I’ve got a safe place to park it on the other end. The car gets so much attention that it’s made me rather paranoid to park it up at the local shops. Parking aside, the steering is very communicative, the engine sounds great, the brakes are wonderful, and I love the Touring suspension. I’m dying to take it on a road trip with the wife, just no idea when I’ll have time to do it!

I was dead set on the Emira, but the corvette is cheaper and has better QoL features that I wish the Emira had.
If the C8 and Emira corvette were sisters, I’d want to date the Emira, but ima settle for C8 for now. The C8 will be the sports car for my 20s and then the Emira will be the sports car for me 30s

The “naught to 60” (zero to 60) 2.9 second time for the C8 Z51 is NOT done from a rolling start, but from a stop using launch control.
Enjoyed your comparison. I’m driving my second C8 Stingray but looking forward to my Emira which I’ll supposedly have in August. I’m +++ looking forward to a manual transmission but will miss things like a convertible, heads-up display and the extra HP. But I prefer better handling and “more fun to drive” over those, for a sport car.

@@HiHi-bd4rn Took delivery of my Emira V6 manual transmission earlier than expected (June 6/24) and I'm surprised how completely different it is, compared to a Corvette C8. I loved the C8 but prefer the Emira: it's more "raw" and more of what I'd consider a true sport car. For Lotus, it has a lot of options but pales in comparison to the options I had on my last C8. The C8 was far more refined and "luxurious" compared to the Emira. The Emira is "more work" to drive, with its notchy stick shift, but it corners better. It's hard to describe the "feeling" it evokes, which I'm told Lotus owners understand. I do miss C8 options like the heads-up display, the automatically retracting seat upon exit and the keyless door entry, plus the convertible (which you can't get with the Emira), however I think the Emira is worth not having those. So 2 vehicles with completely different drives. It you want an easier drive with a heavier vehicle that has more power and more of a "V8 rumble", go for the C8. If you want a smaller and lighter vehicle that corners better, with far better looks (IMO) then you should consider the Emira. I think the Emira sounds AOK in track mode, which opens up the exhaust. That said, other Emira owners have purchased after-market exhaust mods, just like some C8 owners I know. The Emira is the last ICE manual transmission vehicle Lotus will make, so for those of you who enjoy a stick shift and listening to a naturally aspirated engine (although my Emira is supercharged), get them while you can since it's a dying breed amongst all car manufacturers.
I drove the C8 on a track (attending 2 Ron Fellows schools just outside of Nevada) and it was an absolute blast and showed the true potential of the C8. I suspect the Emira would be even more fun on a track, due to its reduced weight, better cornering and manual transmission. I plan to find out and I'm about to order lighter forged rims, for track use.
I"ve had no problems with my "daily driver" Emira, although it's only been 3 months and just over 3,000 km. The first batch Emira's had issues, but Lotus looks to have worked out most of the "new model" bugs with the later production vehicles, like mine. The closest Lotus dealer is a 3-hour one-way drive away, which was a concern, however the dealer will p/u my Emira and trailer it to the dealership, if required for warranty work. Unlike the C8, there's no extended warranty available but the Emira has a 3-year unlimited mileage warranty. Parts are more expensive for the Emira, in general, coming from the UK, which I've found out with the Emira accessories I've been buying. Oil/filter changes are more difficult, since there are 40+ bolts to take off to remove the center underbody plate, but I didn't mind doing it for my last/first Emira oil change, although I do my own servicing for all my vehicles. The recommended Emira oil is made in France, but surprisingly I was able to find it at a local oil wholesaler at a very reasonable price (about $10/litre) and with its "Toyota engine" the Emira uses regular/inexpensive Toyota oil filters. Unlike the C8 with its 2 free oil/filter changes, the Emira doesn't offer any. The C8 also has easy access to both the drain plug and filter, due to the holes cut out in its underbody plates, but that seems unique to the C8, since most other vehicles require plate removal for access. Some comments on a few other differences. My 2 cents, should it prove helpful to others.

@@vaughncox1491 hi Vaughn, thank you for the detailed review as I am highly considering purchasing an emira over the c8. But I have to ask you, is there a lot of power in the top in ? Like 60-120mph ?

@@HiHi-bd4rn My best advice is to take them both for a test-drive. For example, when GM cut back Canadian C8 allocations, my then-hoped-for C8 Z06 purchase became even more delayed. I found a 4 year old Porsche Turbo S with about 10,000 km on it; loaded; in next-to-pristine condition, for a reasonable price. I'd never driven a Porsche before and expected I'd fall in love with its drive and likely buy it. To my surprise, despite its oodles of torque/power (way more than the larger C8 Stingray I was used to), I didn't like how it cornered compared to the C8, with the Porsche having a rear engine and completely different weight distribution; w/o a mid-engine. The Porsche salesman looked at me like I had 2 heads, when handing back the fob and saying I expected to be more blown-away by the ride, compared to what he likely viewed as a "lowly Chev C8" and not the "supercar" Turbo S. I'm more focused on the over-all handling and especially cornering of a sport car, instead of raw power. Perhaps you're the opposite; hence my suggestion you test-drive each; they're such different rides. That said, I was happy with the Emira power band and made use of much of it, after picking it up and driving it home for those first 3+ hours, almost all at highway speeds. I wasn't supposed to exceed 4,000 RPM for any length of time during break-in, so took care not to (not that much and only briefly, as recommended by my salesman). I was still easily able to "exceed the speed limit" and have fun. But that's me. If you're looking for a V8 "muscle car", and I certainly enjoyed my C8's (I had a 2020, sold it too soon expecting to buy a Z06, then purchased a 2023 Stingray) then the C8 may be for you. Good luck with your choice. I expect you'll enjoy either one.
