    Great video! 👍 Love that boat.
    Is there a sonar which checks for potential obstacles under the surface so the foils could retract or adjust automatically to avoid damages?
    Maybe with an alarm or something to warn the driver beforehand so it would be possible to change the direction?

      in the other vid shot on lake Wörthersee the guy mentioned a "100KW" battery... not sure if he got it wrong and meant to say KWh : /
      I'm also intereted what charge the system can handle (that cable on the type2 connector sure was tiny). We are litteraly standing in the shoulders of the car world who have already worked these things out in the past years. CCS for a quick top-up at the local marina?! The 60 kW motor should be able to go way faster than the 30 knots top speed right? The motor is not the limitation? Is it the hydrofoil? Are you planning on increasing top speed in the future?

    • @velotill
      @velotill 4 роки тому +1

      but why? energy consumption and wear and tear on the foils would exponentially increase. 30knts sounds pretty good to me.
      More importantly the relative quiet you (and thousands of other people) get to enjoy while you're doing your boat ride. I find noise pollution (and boat owners disregard for it) among the most problematic aspects with traditional powerboats.

    • @apkungen89
      @apkungen89 4 роки тому

      @@velotill as far as I've understood the speed does not increase energy use that much when foiling. The reason energy increases at 30 knots compared to 20 knots is because the design of the foil is made for 20 knots. I might be wrong though

    • @leswakeham3596
      @leswakeham3596 4 роки тому +1

      There was a mention of the foils when reaching its 'velocity max' speed wise, which in this case was 28 knts. Trying to go faster than 28 knots exceeds the flow of wing/foil design, creating a turbulent flow behind the foil which increases drag. Also hear the 'boiling water' sound, which is air bubbles created by the turbulence which in turn can affect the generated lift by the foils.
      Notice how the amount of power required to just go only 2 knots faster than the Vmax, was 150% of the power required to maintain Vmax speed. Just like a combustion engine, you are burning up much more energy for little return/benefit. So really, the theory of a bigger motor being able to make the boat go faster is like 'chasing one's own tail'. You think you see it, however you will never get there, try as you might.
      The design principle of foils/wings is that, what speed is required to perform takeoff, is half of the maximum speed of the wingfoil shape. Want to go 50 knots speed, sure no problem. It's going to take a lot of push powerwise to get to the takeoff speed of 25 knots, to go foilborne in reaching 50 knots. Speed is nice, yet you do have to come to a stop at some point. Boats don't have the braking ability of land vehicles.

    • @CandelaSpeedBoat
      @CandelaSpeedBoat  3 роки тому +3

      Yes, we have limited the top speed electronically to 30 knots. The foil is designed for being efficient in the 20-25 knots speed range, with a smaller foil you could go for higher speed. But cruising silently in 23 knots without any slamming is probably the best experience you can have at sea!
