Live Ghost
Tobias has worked his ass off to make Ghost what it is today. From the get go he has said he played most instruments for the records and then hires musicians for touring, having to get them to sound like him (which he says himself “play down from their actual skills”) to sound like him LMAO!!! He deserves all the “self-congratulatory” adulations he gets because he truly is a genius.
Bullshit, when Omega and the original lineup were still there they played everything on the records that's complete horseshit.

I've literally had to explain to so many people that Ghost is not a "band" in the traditional sense. It's Tobias working his ass off to make amazing music and having very talented touring performers for tours so that we can have exiting concerts with an amazing vibe

Actually, it is a band in the traditional sense, our conception of what a "band" is has just changed in the last 60 years.
Up until about the 1960's, most 'bands' were basically one "main" guy, and a rotating crew of musicians that would be hired for either tours or even just single gigs. That's what Ghost is.
It's why so many old bands had names like "[Name] and their [term for band]", or "[Name] and the [noun]s". eg, Dean Martin and his Orchestra, or 'Dewy Lewis and the News.'
Granted you always had some groups with a steady roster, but it was pretty rare.
Also, if you're wondering: the major turning point to having steady rosters was the Beatles.

I love hearing him take credit like this. He’s always extremely humble and always makes sure to acknowledge all the other people that help make Ghost happen. Hearing this level of confidence from him makes my heart warm :)
I've been going to concerts for 35 years and have never, not once, seen a frontman highlight the musicians onstage so much, and even bring his stage manager(s) and wardrobe people onstage for plaudits.
He's not being selfish or narcissistic, he's being real

And ultimately, Ghost is the vision of just one guy.

A big point for Ghost at first was their anonymity. People liked them for the music and the performance, not crap they did off the stage. No one cared who they actually were, what they looked like or did. And it was great for them to be able to go out in public and not be swarmed by people.
It was a shame when their identities were outed, especially the manner in which it happened. But it's probably for the best given how quickly Tobias has become popular off the stage.

He's accomplished something and has every right to be proud. He just sounds a bit pissed about being sued, plus he lost his anonymous status he maintained before because of the lawsuit. Tobias is a musical genius and false humility is pointless.
When I started listening to Ghost Tobias kept a low profile. I remember when people started to speculate about him being the guy behind the band. Very fun and interesting to see Ghost become what it is today. One of my favorite bands. Tobias is awesome.

Well, to be fair, he was only outed as the front man because former members (who ultimately were proven to have been paid appropriately) filed a lawsuit, so it became known. As he says, he pays the band members to be there, but he’s the one writing the music, so why should he not take the credit?

I was hooked the first time I heard him. My son and I would listen to the same type of music and he told me to listen to them so I found Ghost online and was hooked!!! .I'm a old school rock and roll lover this will be my dream to see him. Perform live.. My son was a fan as well but sadly I lost him before we had a chance to see them together. He was only 28 and his name was Joshua. I'm going to try my best to see Ghost perform live so I can go for both of us..

As a writer and artist (good God how I wish I could sing. I was blessed with just about every talent one can have except music. Low level amusia. Still love music though I'd love to experience it the way normal people do, able to perceive the full melody and not just a mushy lo res bare approximation...) I'd be over the moon to know somebody considered my work that special.
Awards are fine. But love and money are the real measure of touching people with your creations.
Seriously, write and tell Tobias. You never know what will happen.
I've had amazing luck in the past reaching out with sincerity and humility to celebrities. I once ended up sitting between Jack White and Jack Black at the VIP section of the Viper Room in LA. 22, 23 years ago, maybe, but still. :) Surreal AF.

He IS Ghost . He writes the songs now with people he chooses , he writes the music and then makes the albums with again people he trusts .
Then the tours start and he hires musicians and he says he basically says “ you need to play it like this “ and that’s Ghost .
Now the name "Ghost" hast a completely new meaning for me tbh... So basically every member of the band except Tobias is a ghost. They're just there for the show and then they leave. No one really stayed that long in the band with Tobias. And this is actually very sad
@@whotfcreatedthis I think he has a few Regulars, but for the most part to the Musicians it's just a Gig. They Tour, get paid REALLY WELL and then move on. I think if I rememebr correctly he usually calls them first for another Tour and it's just a matter if they want to join in for Round 2 and if their Schedules permit... which sometimes that isn't the case.

As someone who used to act for fun and a few small paydays--and one significant enough it helped me pay for a year of University, albeit a quarter century ago--and who got parts like "man in the crowd #3" ("Look out! He's got a knife!" Which I persuaded the director to change to "Watch it! Knife! KNIFE!" because not even this AP English teacher/competitive debate and oratory coach speaks in full, grammatically-correct sentences when a homie is about to get shivved...) I gotta say, if the part pays standard rates or better and the other terms are standard, take that shit.
Just never do that shit for the exposure if somebody, somewhere is making money off your ass. And never sign away your rights to anything you create. (Unless they're gonna whack you, of course; if you ever invent a 100 mpg engine, for example, take the 25 million cuz the next offer is going to be $2.50, delivered in steel jacketed lead.)

Of course hes in a higher level of authority - its HIS passon project. Like... he originally didn't even want to be the guy playing the front man and that's how the whole mask thing started. The main reason you NEVER see Papa 1 in promotional material ever without his face paint is because Tobias does not own the rights to the sculpt for that mask.

I agree with him. It's best for one man to hold the rights to the band. At least if things go south or lawsuits hit the band, it only its one member and not everyone. He was right for what he did.

It's cause there was a Lawsuit awhile ago by the Original Members, they agreed to be paid for Live Shows alone, were paid... but then sued and wanted more. It's actually how Tobias was revealed to be Papa.
@@CazzyVRthey all weren't "original members". Two of the guys who sued Tobias were only in the band for a couple of albums at most. And Omega was not part of the lawsuit.
As far as I understand it, Ghost is really a solo act with a supporting band. The other members change and just learn the songs. If anyone can confirm if he solely writes the songs with his contributors who are not part of the band, or if any of the Ghouls actually help write the songs or design the shows, that would be informative
He could buy his song from other famous acts like Taylor Swift, as she sells songs. Once this transaction is complete, the song credit is his own and there is no requirement to inform the public its origin. The songs belong 100% to the purchaser. So if nameless ghouls help or write full songs, the agreement, to the best of my knowledge, states he paid for those songs and they belong to him/ Ghost from that point. No creative credit or rights need to be passed along. Ghost is Tobias' creation. It's similar to inventors working for a company, the company generally owns any proprietary rights to whatever employees create.

I want to see him collaborate with Trent Reznor. His role within Ghost is the same as Trents with NIN. Also, my biggest issue with Ghost is that their drum patterns can be a little lackluster, and Trent has some incredible drums. I dont know that it would be the best collaboration, but its one Id love to hear.

It's kinda like falling in reverse or panic at the disco, where the lead singer is basically the band they just need other musicians to play live, except those 2 bands started off as a group project then eventually they became what they are now. Ghost didn't start as a group project, its Tobias project, he is ghost and the ghouls we love so much are basically fill ins, and that's absolutely fine. although i hope Sodo never leaves 😢😅 please papa 🙏🏻
I love Sodo and I seem to think he does too he’s always appreciating him . I know it’s a choreographed performance but he seems to be genuinely happy with Sodo after all he’s an incredible guitar 🎸 player .

It's not a new concept, if you write and record the majority of the music in a band, including the lyrics, you typically own/run the band. Ex. Nine Inch Nails, Black Label Society, Foo Fighters, Mammoth WVH, Smashing Pumpkins...
Even 'if' Tobias didn't write one song and hired nameless ghouls to do all of the writing, with some help, he/Ghost owns the songs, credit, and the rights per their hired agreement within the contract. Tobias is the brainchild and gets all credit. Not that he wanted any for himself at first, but due to the lawsuit, he decided to reveil himself and said what are the facts, it's his masterpiece, his band. What a genius and I look forward to some awesome concerts and albums to come! "Right Here, Right Now" was such an awesome movie!!!
@crazychad2 even if you sign a no rights agreement to join a band, if you can prove later that you wrote songs that were used, you can still sue and the courts can deem the contract unconscionable. I'm sure Tobias learned his lesson from that and involves no one in the writing process, does all of the recordings himself, except for drums, and hires members for live performances only.

Tobbe been a pop song writer from the beginning. Always will be. Lucky for me I got 300.00 each for my 3 Subvision CDs. Martin gave your band tone , which gave credibility to your vision.
Nothing wrong with Subvision and I agree Martin was a massive duo with Tobias *but* I wouldn’t call Tobias just a pop music writer at all . He’s so much more than that .

I totally get where he is coming from. For years no would step up to be in my project, but then I said to myself, “they don’t have the same vision that I have , so they’ll never understand “. Paying some people to play your songs doesn’t mean they are contributing, they are guns for hire and they should’ve joined when they had the chance, but now it’s too late.

At the very beginning he started to record songs of the first album with Gustaf Lindström. At that time Martin and Tobias were bandmates in MCC.
Martin joined Ghost a little bit later, so Tobias is right

This is the same structure as Tame Impala. Kevin Parker writes the songs and plays a majority of instruments for the studio recordings, then he has musicians tour with him and play his stuff. Tobias is 100 percent in the right for taking the lion’s share of Ghost’s success.
He may be the only one responsible now, but considering how drastically the sound changed after the original members left the band. I’d say that Tobias definitely wasn’t the only one responsible before. In fact, checking out any of the original members other bands (some of which they had before Ghost) and you’ll hear who the real songwriters for the band were.
The shitty Ministry knockoff they started sounds nothing like Ghost nor resembles the songwriting style. If you’re talking about Subvision or Magna Carte Cartel, Tobias was the songwriter and founder of Subvision and as far as Magna Carta Cartel goes Martin Persner wasn’t involved in the lawsuit nor did he leave Ghost because he had issues with Tobias. It was a split on good terms because Martin wanted to continue with his own band. Not to mention Tobias was also a member of Magna Carta Cartel at one point.
I have no doubt Martin had more of an influence on the sound then the other former Ghouls, but again him and Tobias are friends AND if you listened to Tobias’s response here he made the exception for one member, which it doesn’t take a genius to put together than that one member Tobias was referring was Martin

The main thing Tobias did well is he made it clear from the get go that he is the band and everyone else is an employee. Nothing wrong with that as long as you make it clear. He is Ghost the same way Owl City is Adam Young. Everyone has to remember that every solo artist has dozens of musicians that tour with them. The only difference is solo artists like Ghost and Owl City just don’t use their name.

@@kevins4222 There was no legal partnerships EVER. They were musicians paid a salary. They were employees. If they thought they were co-owners of the band, they were not very bright. They lost the lawsuit (pending appeal). Those who contributed to writing always got writing credit, but there has only ever been one member of the band. lol.
@@danielmoore9777 I HIGHLY doubt they all sat down in 2006 and decided Tobias was going to be the sole owner and CEO of Ghost. Most musicians aren't good businessmen, I'm sure they viewed themselves as a band; but when the big money started rolling in, they became "employees". Same exact thing happened with Ozzy's band (originally called Blizzard of Ozz") and Dio's band. It's THE oldest story in music. Things always start as a team but then the money comes and all of a sudden it's a "solo project".

Martin was the only true Omega. Still miss him in the band. I have seen that him and Tobias are still friends. Would love to see him back with Ghost, but I think he is happy with MCC. I heard a story that the original plan was to have Ghost get big than it was going to stop, and all the members were going to go back to their other projects. I guess Martin was the only one that did that.

I speculate whether he's actually truthful fully just from watching as many live shows amongst the eras of the band. I am pretty sure he has had some of the same people playing for a while. Unless someone can prove me wrong. However I know that he for sure is Ghost. He writes most of the music though there are some credits to others that do help, but I believe that they are not the members during the live show. Since Prequelle I noticed the albums are different than the live shows. So I believe that the current line up is not recording the albums with him. But I'm not fully convinced that since Opus there have been as much live line up changes as he says. Either way I fukn love Ghost and love Tobias!
I believe Omega helped him create a few songs when he was in the band. But since early 2017- present it has been the ghouls. We see now. Before that. It was the old mountain, rain, omega and alpha. This probably has something to do when Omega, alpha and the other two ended up suing papa saying that he didn't give them enough credit that they deserved
