I noticed how you said... "I like those prices", when Marty arrived in 1955. However, minimum wage would be increased to $1 per hour that year, and the average yearly income per household was only $4,500. But the good news was that, the cost of a new home was only twice that yearly income. So even a family living on one income, could afford a new home.

The poster behind Marty in his bedroom that says "Sports" was for the band "Huey Lewis and the News", that had an album called "Sports" which was very popular at the time. Huey Lewis & the News performed the song "Power of Love" and "Back in Time" for the movie, and Huey Lewis himself appeared in the film as a member of the school board Marty was auditioning in front of for the school dance. He's the one who stood up with the bullhorn and told them they were too loud. 😀

1:34:34 - Well the emergency brake usually works this way on trains, yes... The compressed air brake system was invented in 1869, so it is not impossible that this is factual. Though it wasn't a cord like that.

That is how trains worked but not how buses work. On a bus the cable signals the driver that you want to get off. On a train the cord activates the emergency brakes. Marty didn't just carry Doc into the house but balanced him on the hoverboard which is why it was in the house.

1:31 I once read a book about how to write a thriller. One rule they explained was that, when you want to build tension, you've got to have _some_ kind of ticking clock in the background. I'm pretty sure _this_ is not what they meant, though.
I didn't know if anybody else pointed this out, but since you seem to be just as smitten with Doc/Clara as I am: In one of the various commentary tracks out there for part II, I _think_ it was Bob Gale who explained that Clara was the reason that they wrote in Doc going to the rejuvenation clinic in 2015. Doc said "it added a good 30 to 40 years to my life". Since he was decently "up there" in age by 1985, they used that as a means to let him have a long and happy life with Clara and their kids. And I just _adore_ that. 😊
Really? According to the "Making-Of" special, it was just because Christopher Lloyd didn't want to have to wear aging prosthetics for the movies. In the first movie, he wore a latex mask to make himself look older for the 1985 scenes, because the majority of the movie was spent with the 1955 Doc. But movies 2 & 3 mostly featured the 1985 Doc, and Lloyd didn't want to have to wear that stuff for the whole movie, so they put that scene in to explain why he looked younger.
Love your reactions ❤. It’s so good to hear a genuine reactor react to movies for the first time. . Your expressions are so cute 😊 Love the way the simplest things se to excite your interest in the movies you react to. Can’t wait to watch the next one !
I first saw all 3 movies in the theater as a child , yet decades later I still pick up random Easter Eggs - Statler Toyota in the 1st movie, then Joe Statler’s Fine Horse in the 3rd 😂
The movies never explain how they met, but the comics written by the screen writer do. Having grown up in the 80s, I can say it's not too unusual to have an adult friend or two. I got on better with adults than anyone my own age.
It literally shows how they first met. One day Marty showed up at Doc’s door, telling Doc that he had invented a time machine. Doc had never met Marty before that moment.
Blow your mind-- on the day old Biff came back to 1955, there are FOUR time machine delorians (the same car tho) in Hill Valley: 1- the original one Marty came back in 2- the one old Biff came back in (flying) 3- The one that Marty and Doc came back in (flying) 4- The one buried in the cave.
My theory about how Doc and Marty met is that at some point Doc did some sort of a science demonstration at Marty's school and they sort of became friends since Doc had that large amp.
No in the novelization, Marty broke into Doc’s lab by getting by all of the Doc’s traps and this impressed the Doc and he took him on as his assistant.
This relationship was based on a real friendship that Zemeckis had with an elderly neighbor who was very handy with gadgets… I don’t remember exactly what this other guy specialty was but Zemeckis described wandering over to check in on him and he was always doing some kind of crazy electronic device
I graduated from high school in the '90's. While there, I was in JROTC which meant I stood a weekly uniform inspection. That meant I _prepared_ my uniform for inspection, once a week. So I washed it, shined the shoes, shined the belt buckle and ironed the shirt. Now ironing is a _very_ time consuming process, so I would pass the time by watching my VHS cassettes of various movies, including _this_ trilogy. I watched it over and over and over again. It _never_ got old.
Marty Breaks in to the Doc's Lab after been told that Doc was Dangerous and a Lunatic by his Parents. He breaks in to see for himself, Doc catches him and takes Marty as an assistant because he is so glad to meet someone who has an interest in inventions, they form a great friendship together
Yeah - I was born 1993. We didn't use the lock on our front door at all (inside bottom general flip lock). We only got a number lock with a code on our front door in like 2017? 2018? It was no biggie.
The Lego DeLorean was one of the most enjoyable sets i built over a period of days to make the enjoyment last. A favorite book of mine that deals w/ time travel is Lightning by Dean Koontz and something that makes the most sense is you can only go forward and not backwards to avoid any paradox by messing up past events.
1:23:35 "I'm almost _glad_ that snake spooked those horses. Otherwise, we might never have met." It's a small town. You were practically _guaranteed_ to meet, at some point.
If there was ever a movie that completely encapsulates everything 80s, it's Back to the Future. I love this trilogy so much. I was 9 when this movie came out, so I got to see it at a time in my life, where it really struck me as so much silly fun. I know everybody says it about the time when they grew up, but I'm so glad I was a kid in the 80's. For me there's no decade I would have rather been a kid in.
Apparently Mary Steenburgen was cast as Clara because she had starred in the 1979 time travel movie Time After Time, in which H. G. Wells (Malcolm McDowell), author of the novel The Time Machine, actually invents such a machine and uses it to pursue Jack the Ripper from Victorian London to 1979 San Francisco, and finds himself being a fish out of water in lots of very funny ways. It's extremely worth seeing, and if you thought Marty McFly was a little off the wall calling himself Clint Eastwood, just wait until you see what Wells calls himself.
Skateboarding, as it exists today, was probably born sometime in the late 1940s, or early 1950s, when surfers in California wanted something to do when the waves were flat. This was called "sidewalk surfing" - a new wave of surfing on the sidewalk as the sport of surfing became highly popular.

"So I'm guessing Back To The Future doesn't go with the whole butterfly effect theory" It actually does, and there are several things in the films to demonstrate this. The first one that most people notice is that the Twin Pines Mall becomes the Lone Pine Mall, after Marty runs over one of Peabody's pines in the 50's.
56:10 They actually wouldn't be able to check what day and year old Biff went to give his younger self the book on the time circuits cause that got overwritten once they went to 1985A.
12:17 to answer your question, yes, they did list the occupation. Mostly abbreviations, for example: plmbr for plumber, atty for attorney, and sometimes 2 numbers for one person such as dent for dentist and another number just below for res which meant residence. I recall in the 1980s that they would list the resident’s number and if the resident wanted to do so, they would include the second number and it would be listed as children’s since some households would get a second line for the children (teens).
“Where is the marshal?” As a kid, I bought the BttF3 novelization at a school book fair, and there’s a scene wherein Tannen and his gang ambush Marshal Strickland and shoot him in the back. As he lays dying, he makes his son promise to devote his life to maintaining “constant discipline.” I don’t know if they actually filmed that scene or not, but it’s why, at the end, it’s a different lawman (not Strickland) who arrests Tannen. If you notice, they cut away from his mouth as he says “You’re under arrest for robbing the Pine City stage”; I’ve always assumed that’s because the actor actually said, “You’re under arrest for the murder of Marshal Strickland,” and then they dubbed in the robbery part instead later. As for why they cut it, I assume someone decided actually seeing a character murdered in cold blood was too dark for what’s overall a fun, (relatively) lighthearted series.
1:15:34 Yes! It was a ride in Universal Studios in California. It was in the 90s when my family went to the theme park where we got to ride the Back to the Future ride and ET's ride.
28:55 It's a stroke of _brilliance_ the way they reworked the dynamic between George, Lorraine and Biff. The first time through, Lorraine saved George. The second time, George saved Lorraine. The first time through, Biff was the school bully who built a _career_ out of elevating his own profile by stealing credit for George's work. Lorraine's heart went out to George because he was the helpless, lost puppy her father hit with his car. This led to the two of them going to the dance together where George kissed Lorraine for the first time and that's how they ended up falling in love and getting married. But the _second_ time through, George came across Lorraine on the verge of being _violated_ by Biff. This compelled him to stand _up_ to that bully for the first time and actually knock him _out._ In this act, George discovered he had it in him to stand up to bullies instead of letting them push him _around._ In this state, George came to Lorraine's rescue, the two of them went into the dance, together, ended up kissing on the dance floor and _that_ was how they ended up falling in love and getting married. But because, the second time through, George had discovered he had it in him to stand up to bullies, this put him on a trajectory to a much better future.
Such a great trilogy. There was a Saturday morning cartoon that picked up where the 3rd movie left off, mostly focusing on the adventures of Doc's kids, Jules and Verne. I don't remember too too much about it, but it was fun as I recall...
13:32 "Oh! George, don't be a _creep!"_ It's a curious irony about this moment. Everyone is always _so_ quick to scold George for what he's doing, but I mean, he's not using any especially sophisticated instrumentation; just a set of binoculars. He's peering through a window with an open _blind._ Now let me point out, George is a heterosexual, 17-year-old male. I _promise_ you, _everyone_ about whom these traits have lined up in this way has had female schoolmates he has wanted to see in their underwear. In my day, I was no _exception_ to this. Now why is the young lady on the other side of that window in just her _underwear?_ Why has she not closed the blind? Why is she standing in her underwear in a place that she _has_ to figure is visible from the _street?_ If you're going to scold George for his unrestrained voyeurism, also scold the young lady for her unrestrained _exhibitionism._ 🤷♂
What I love about this trilogy is that it is essentially one big movie. Each of the sequels begins exactly where the previous movie ended. I've seen the trilogy more times than I can remember, but I still have some questions about Part 1. Maybe someone out there can offer some insight. 1. Lorraine's father thought that Marty was an idiot. Wouldn't he have protested when he found out that Marty was taking Lorraine to the prom? 2. How did Marty get into George's bedroom in the middle of the night without being seen? 3. In the original timeline (in which George was struck by the car and Lorraine fell in love with him out of pity), did the redheaded boy still cut in on them while they were dancing at the prom? If so, how did George find the courage to stand up to him?
i dont know about 1 and 3.. but there is a deleted scene of marty getting into georges bedroom through the window, he also uses chloroform's to knock him out before he leaves. and doc is waiting to drive him back. as far as point 1, im sure lorrane's dad thinks every kid is an idiot no matter who was taking her to the dance. he just seems like that kind of dad
The way if i remember it right through the "B.T.F Lore" Marty Meets Doc by becoming His Assistant with Doc's Experiments When Marty had answered Doc's Employment Want Ad when Marty was between 13-14 years old.
Makes me wonder, how come Marty was completely in the dark about this time-travel experiment until he gets invited by the Doc to the Twin Pines Mall, surely Doc must've been working on this for years? Had Marty not seen him all that time?
@@playy1797 well i feel like Doc might have worked on this in the dark without Marty because anyone who says they are working on Time Travel/Time Machine would be seen as 100% Mentally Crazy so until Doc felt like everything was in order and complete was when Doc Finally called Marty to Show and Document his secret invention where it was a Final make or brake moment...if it worked Doc would be saved from a rubber room and Prision but if it didn't work Doc 100% knew he would be locked up for the rest of his life for his hand/actions in getting the Plutonium.

17:16 - so the script was originally going to have the climax be the time machine having to hijack a nuclear test of some kind, but that got written out. Also, the time machine was originally going to look like a refrigerator, but they got rid of that idea because the filmmakers didn't want to be responsible for kids accidentally locking themselves in fridges and suffocating.
33:07 I want to point out, at this moment, Doc's _entire_ bodyweight is being supported by just _one_ of his hands, because when you're an action protagonist, you've got to have the most _unyieldingly_ strong hands.
In case someone missed it, the teacher who complained the band was too loud is Huey Lewis who is the singer of the song they were playing. Love those easter eggs.
You are about the 4th reactor I've seen who immediately scolded Doc for not following firearm safety rules. Kudos to you and your compatriots. Another firearm note, the terrorists rifle was not out of ammo; it jammed. Movies often portray the AK-47 as having a poor reliability record.
Well, the incompetence might be on the user end. Doc gave them a fake bomb, so maybe they also got suckered by their arms supplier, who sold them some AK-47s that had reached their durability limit already.
1:34;14 In the Novelization of this movie, when Bueford is arrested, he is arrested for the Murder of Marshall James Strickland. They said it was changed for the movie because nobody else stays dead in these movies.

I think I heard a backstory once that Doc was a relief teacher at Marty's school when he was younger, and the only person who explained science in a way Marty understood. Marty became more engaged with the subject, helping Doc at school and outside, and eventually the two became friends. Of course, there's a possibility that in the alternate timeline created by Marty's trip to 1955, Doc remembered him and kept an eye out for the McFly family until eventually meeting and mentoring Marty.
Mary Steenburgen was ALSO in another time travel movie called Time After Time when she was younger... watch that it's just as amusing a movie as these too.😂
They have amazing weather in Hill Valley. It storms with a lot of lightning but no rain, the big lightning hits and then is immediately calm, next thing you know it's pouring rain. Also, when Doc is laying there the second time there is a part of the vest sticking out on his right shoulder. I have never seen anyone notice that.
Excellent reaction yes they changed Jennifer from the first movie because her mother got sick. She quit acting to take care of her so they replaced for the Elizabeth shoe for the other two movies for the rest of the series and a deleted scene in a in the DVD of the future, the reason or disappears when he gets to DeLorean back to the future is because, Marty’s mom is listening to what is saying on the roof when he gets knocked out Lorian’s door she takes the gun and shoots him because they change the timeline back. It never happened so she didn’t get arrested or anything, but that’s why disappeared from history until they fixed it. Thanks for the fun until next time.
Fun fact: In Italy they changed the "Calvin Klein" name to "Levis Strauss" because I think they figured no one knew Calvin Klein and back then Strauss was probably more popular over here.

That is how trains worked but not how buses work. On a bus the cable signals the driver that you want to get off. On a train the cord activates the emergency brakes. Marty didn't just carry Doc into the house but balanced him on the hoverboard which is why it was in the house.
They stopped using cables for buses, changed it to buttons for the signal. And no cable emergency brake for passengers on modern trains.
"Marty's a child. He can't be going out at 1:15am"
Lmao.... Ahh.. the 80s... Yes.. yes you could go out at 1:15 am... Parents let us roam around in this mystical place we used to call THE OUTSIDE... didn't matter the time... Todays kids just Don't have a clue how much freedom we had.... 😆
loved watching you do all three in one video. this was literally a trilogy of one long moive that was 6 hours long in a sense. it was so well written
1:31 I once read a book about how to write a thriller. One rule they explained was that, when you want to build tension, you've got to have _some_ kind of ticking clock in the background.
I'm pretty sure _this_ is not what they meant, though.
I didn't know if anybody else pointed this out, but since you seem to be just as smitten with Doc/Clara as I am:
In one of the various commentary tracks out there for part II, I _think_ it was Bob Gale who explained that Clara was the reason that they wrote in Doc going to the rejuvenation clinic in 2015.
"Where are the boundaries?" It was the 80's, girl; where we're going we don't need boundaries!
Back in the 80's we still had national borders as boundaries. Now it's the opposite.
Love your reactions ❤. It’s so good to hear a genuine reactor react to movies for the first time. .
Your expressions are so cute 😊
Love the way the simplest things se to excite your interest in the movies you react to.
@@lan5053 ...In 1985. That event hadn't happened yet. Remember, the mall was still Twin Pines until AFTER Marty got back.
“Chuck! Hey Chuck, this is your cousin… your cousin Marvin Berry!…” Chuck Berry heard his greatest hit before he ever wrote it.
Not only that, he heard Marty playing it on Marvin’s Gibson ES-345 which also wasn’t produced until 1958. 😄
Blow your mind-- on the day old Biff came back to 1955, there are FOUR time machine delorians (the same car tho) in Hill Valley:
1- the original one Marty came back in
2- the one old Biff came back in (flying)
3- The one that Marty and Doc came back in (flying)
4- The one buried in the cave.
6:44 😆 Welcome to self-driving cars.
I feel the same
My theory about how Doc and Marty met is that at some point Doc did some sort of a science demonstration at Marty's school and they sort of became friends since Doc had that large amp.
@@deusexmachina2222 That was Bob Gale who said that not Zemeckis.
It really is the perfect sci-fi/comedy trilogy, at least as perfect as it can get. 😊
Well, except that no time travel would be possible like that because the Earth moves so they'd always end up in deep space after every time-jump.
I miss the days when sequels would take 3 to 4 years to hit the theatres.
He also breaks in because Doug Needles dares him to steal a tube for his guitar amp
Plus Doc doesn’t call the cops because he recognizes Marty.
14:21 you have to remember, back then, people did not even lock their doors at night. They were trusting .
Nicolette: "How did they meet?" "Maybe they address this in the trilogy" Everyone: "Sigh, nope"
1:23:35 "I'm almost _glad_ that snake spooked those horses. Otherwise, we might never have met."
It's a small town.
48:26 You know that Marty McFly Jr. is played by Michael J. Fox, but did you realize that his daughter is ALSO played by MJF? LOL
This was called "sidewalk surfing" - a new wave of surfing on the sidewalk as the sport of surfing became highly popular.
its very possible the invention and craze had not hit a small town like hill valley yet in 1955.
04:12 The teacher behind the bullhorn is none other than Huey Louis, of Huey Louis and the News, the guy who wrote and sang “The Power of Love” and “Back in Time”!
It was awesome watching the trilogy with you. You had that great spirit that the movie had too.🎉
43:05 "😄Why do we advertise movies like that?"
Imagine if we advertised _adult_ movies like that.
"So I'm guessing Back To The Future doesn't go with the whole butterfly effect theory"
It actually does, and there are several things in the films to demonstrate this. The first one that most people notice is that the Twin Pines Mall becomes the Lone Pine Mall, after Marty runs over one of Peabody's pines in the 50's.
“seriously how do you know each other?” lol that had me on the floor. So true, I still don’t know.
“Where is the marshal?”
As a kid, I bought the BttF3 novelization at a school book fair, and there’s a scene wherein Tannen and his gang ambush Marshal Strickland and shoot him in the back.
The little kids gesture stayed in this video cut too lmao.
1:15:34 Yes! It was a ride in Universal Studios in California. It was in the 90s when my family went to the theme park where we got to ride the Back to the Future ride and ET's ride.
That was awesome, I loved it. Please can we have more Nicolette.
I love that your reaction is you definitely did not have a permit for that.
Such a great trilogy. There was a Saturday morning cartoon that picked up where the 3rd movie left off, mostly focusing on the adventures of Doc's kids, Jules and Verne. I don't remember too too much about it, but it was fun as I recall...
Nicollete, you were great! You made these movies new for me again. More trilogies please!
Loved your reactions. The best trilogy ever done.
I love your commentary on one of my favorite movies!
13:32 "Oh! George, don't be a _creep!"_
It's a curious irony about this moment. Everyone is always _so_ quick to scold George for what he's doing, but I mean, he's not using any especially sophisticated instrumentation; just a set of binoculars. He's peering through a window with an open _blind._
Now let me point out, George is a heterosexual, 17-year-old male.
Why is she standing in her underwear in a place that she _has_ to figure is visible from the _street?_
If you're going to scold George for his unrestrained voyeurism, also scold the young lady for her unrestrained _exhibitionism._ 🤷♂
*They predicted some 2015 future things, but just try to imagine 30 years from now the 2050's*
1:30:57 Taking Clara to 1985 WOULD be the right decision, because she was supposed to have died in 1885 anyway.
For a fee, you could have extra info in your phonebook listing, normally used by professionals and small businesses.
Our local white pages for those years did have professions in it.
When you realize that Christopher Lloyd also played the Klingon Commander Kruge in Star Trek III, and that his ship was used by Admiral Kirk to go back in time to save the humpback whale species.
Love your reaction .. BTTF is such an awesome trilogy ❤ we're going back in time !!!
Ahhhh !!! I do the same thing!! Twist myself in my seat when I'm anxious!!! Get it together doc !! Lol .
It took me until a month ago after having seen it when it came out and over 50 viewings later…. Someone pointed out that in the first movie, the homeless guy at the end (Red) was the mayor of the town in 1955!!! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Incredible reactions. Back to the Future is one of those rare trilogies where all 3 movies are great. BTW, the actor that plays Jennifer does have her own movie Adventures in Babysitting. Thanks for the fun.
@@0okamino 🤣🤣🤣
1:34;14 In the Novelization of this movie, when Bueford is arrested, he is arrested for the Murder of Marshall James Strickland. They said it was changed for the movie because nobody else stays dead in these movies.
Fun fact: There is actually a back to the 80s cafe in Las Vegas designed after the one in the movie.
Great reaction. The second is great also, 3rds great also. Love your reaction. 😊👏🥰
26:00 "What permit would you use?" funny in a deleted scene you see the end of this where Doc pays the cop off.
Universal Studio has a ride. They also had an audience involved stage show. In 1995, I got picked to play Doc. It was a blast.
I love this reaction and this is before the speakers blow up scene.
SPORTS is the name of the most famous album by Huey Lewis and The News. Huey Lewis played the teacher who said “you’re just too darn loud” and sang Power of Love.
Awww, so Nov 5 is your birthday....And Oct 21 is mine. From seeing pt 2 the first time, I had 26 years to plan my 47th birthday. Yes, I was also 17 in 1985 and 47 in 2015, just like Marty and Jennifer.
Not sure if anyone has posted yet but there used to be a ride at Universal Studios Hollywood themed after Back to the Future. It was fun, similar to Star Tours where you sat in a vehicle and looked at a screen while the vehicle moved in synch to the screen! Miss that ride.
I loved the 3rd the best, but whole trilogy was great.. thanks for putting all three into one clip.
Hahaha... "That's a well-built dress box"
Arguably the greatest trilogy of all time.
The story of the Frisbee began in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where William Frisbie opened the Frisbie Pie Company in 1871. Students from nearby universities would throw the empty pie tins to each other, yelling “Frisbie!” as they let go.
1:15:35 it was a Ride for a long time at Universal Studios. It has since shut down. But it was recreated in VR. If you have a Mera Quest Headset, it is a free app.
A perfect film. The first one, that is. 3 is so underrated too.
This reaction is crazy mad 😂 I wish I was there to help 😂 I love it tho ❤ bless up 🙏
You got better as the trilogy played on. 😊 I enjoyed watching with you
Excellent reaction yes they changed Jennifer from the first movie because her mother got sick.
80s fashion needs to come back, I'll do my part
Fun fact: In Italy they changed the "Calvin Klein" name to "Levis Strauss" because I think they figured no one knew Calvin Klein and back then Strauss was probably more popular over here.
"invest in Apple" had me floored ! 🤣😂🤣😂
1:32:04 "How many'd he have?"
"Just one."
"Just one? Come on, Doc."
_"There's_ a fella that can't hold his _liquor."_
There's a man who's unable to experience _intoxication._
4:27 we don't get to know Jennifer very well but it's such a good sign that she's defending his mother here
Rip Joe Flaherty! He was a Important role in the back to the future series!
*scene with Marty and Buford's shoot-out has ended*
Nicolette: "Okay. Anxiety over."
Train: "ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT???"
