Okay but how do you know the 11 herbs and spices if you’re NOT the colonel? Suspicious… I’ve never seen the two of you in the same room at the same time
He doesn’t. He missed at least the garlic and onion powder that’s in it according to a picture of herb and spice bottles that is in a KFC that is local to me. Those are very common additions to dredges anyhow.
I have so enjoyed Kendrick's story arc from someone who initially was raving over Totino's pizza rolls, to being blown away by the flavors that Josh introduced him to, to now being able to admit how good something of Josh's is and be frustrated that Josh can keep pulling off these miracles of delicious cuisine.
Wow , I'm surprised you mentioned and recommended Mrs Angelia Marie Brown . Well I do n't have much to say about her but I'll advice newbie to place their trade at her under her services at her.
I first discovered your videos about a month ago after searching for a French Onion Soup recipe. You’ve single handedly renewed my passion for cooking. Thank You. Keep doing your thing, I love it. You know what else I love?……B-Roll!
So I have your cookbook and I've been trying to make your mayonnaise but I've been failing every attempt! Afterwards I found myself in this video, don't ask why...I was in a dark place. And happened to find your mayo process here with an emersion blender. SO much easier! Got it the first try!
I’m only 2:32 minutes into this video you’ve just made my year! I’ve been searching for a bread & butter pickle recipe for what seems like forever and now I have a Weissman recipe 😢 The skies have open and gods have spoken! Thank you kind sir, you’ve made this old lady’s heart so very happy
I love bread and butter pickles, as a person who usually doesn't care for pickles in general. This was way easier to make than I imagined, might also try making them.
This is what I needed Josh. THIS. Not my wedding to be paid for; not a full head of hair; certainly not my student loans to go away. No - THIS is what I needed.
@Matthew Holloway A.) Yes B.) Yes C.) I forgot or whatever Do you feel superior for asking two redundant questions and correcting me in the rudest way possible? You could've just politely reminded me that it wasn't a burrito.
Right around the time the Double Down came out, one of the big franchise restaurants (99's or Applebees, I think) came out with a burger that used a whole grilled cheese sandwich for each side of the bun. Doing that might be a useful companion piece for the other end of the self-loathing sandwich bun spectrum.
Look up “Kenji Lopez Fatty Melt” I’m sure he didn’t invent the recipe or anything, but it’s horrifically delicious. I’ve made them a couple times now. It’s truly a day ending sandwich.
I don't remember that, but I do know that Applebee's makes a quesadilla cheeseburger. You will hate yourself for eating it, but it's better than it has any right to be.
I used to go to a sports bar in college that had a challenge called The Swanson, double bacon cheeseburger with a sourdough grilled cheese for each bun
KFC Double Down is the perfect creation. Doesn’t need a bun. And certainly doesn’t need pickles or other veggies. This sandwich is my cheat meal whenever I can get it.
I was working at KFC when the Double Down came out (2009 or 10... somewhere in there). Had to go in after-hours to learn how to make it. It was fine. I mean... it was two pieces of chicken slapped together with bacon, sauce and cheese. Of course it wasn't going to taste BAD. It just tasted like a heart attack waiting to happen. I remember them looking a lot closer to what you've made here though. I don't know what happened to that poor sandwich, but it used to look a lot better. As good as yours looks, I probably wouldn't want to make it. An open-faced fried chicken sandwich on Texas toast tho... I could alter it into that!
@@haimingwang819 hmmm... I don't get how the whole "papa" think is "decent". Also, I love crisp and properly fried chicken, but his is always a tad overdone.
@@matthewholloway9507 Yeah I mean he makes nice dishes and thats all what matters to me. could it be the spices that make the crust look a bit darker? I have no idea lolz
Joshua looks like Colonel Sanders so much. I never actually realised until he mentioned it in the video, but it's like they're father and son, twins even.
Here in New Zealand, usually a beef burger = pickle/tomato sauce, and for a chicken burger that = mayo but never pickle (unless you specifically ask for them).
I always wondered why they didn't just go a little further with the double down. Make it into a deep fried version of cordon bleu. Or roll it up and make a chicken rouladin.
It was exciting to hear him say he’s Greek Orthodox, cause that’s what I am too and it’s cool seeing someone with the same religion. It’s very uncommon for that ❤
I have a different approach for the extra crunch: Simply add some panko. Done. It saves you from potentially messing up the breading with too much marinade.
I actually work at a KFC me and my coworkers all agree that the double down is just a heart attack waiting to happen. I've literally had someone ask for extra extra cheese and bacon with spicy sauce. I said we will read that person's name in the obituaries and everyone started laughing
I had an idea, what if Papa, for his 'But Better' series, tries to make a fast food item better, but at the same price as the item in the restaurant, with a small margin of difference. It would be a lot more fun to see how Papa manages
It’s impossible. I’ve worked in bars/restaurants for the last 24 years. The prices we get from companies like Cisco blow every day grocery store prices out of the water. Bulk beats everything
Pro-tip: theres a seasoning mix called 99-x thats apparently the original recipe, comissioned by the colonel. Its not 1:1 for modern KFC imo but its real good.
With all those really pricy, kinda crappy protein bars at the grocery stores, you should do a better one of those. Like no saturated fat, high fiber, high protein. I think that would be really cool.
That looks tasty, gonna have to try that out! Also, I would love to see a Tostitos Salsa Con Queso copy cat. It's probably my favorite queso but I can never get the taste they have.
As someone who literally always takes pickles off of my burgers: You can judge me all I want, but that being the first thing you add immediately makes me doubt the taste of your double down.
I just want to know how fresh that pico de gallo ended up being after being sumerged in oil for 5 minutes. Feel like my ancestors just rolled in their graves as I watched this lol Looks delicious tho !

There's something so hilarious about Josh doubling down on the Double Down by turning it into a burrito instead of actually putting a bun on it.
