    I still love this routine for 2 big reasons:
    1. That Bhardwaj! Coolest transition and great execution here!
    2. THAT is how you do a full twisting double layout. Most gymnasts pike it. She is fully stretched and beautiful.
    Go Mo!

    This routine gets more exciting as it goes along. Mohini is an underrated gymnast IMO.

    Given the SV, the score was fair. But, Bhardwaj is an example of how the camp system has failed in accomplishing what should be one of its main goals: applying the collective knowledge of the nation's coaches to address shortcomings in National Team member routines. Granted, Mo was not a serious contender until Trials and was never considered to be TF materials on anything but VT until Athens prelims had ended, but that shouldn't have prevented the coaches preparing this team for the Olympics from maximizing her potential on every event.
    Assuming some new skills were beyond her capability at that point (though I agree that she could have easily learned a hop full, which would have given her a 10.0 SV if put before the Tkatchev), she had competed several skills already that could have been added to beef up her UB, BB, and FX routines to 10.0 SVs:
    UB: 9.80 base SV
    Front Giant 1/2 before the Tkatchev = C + D = .10 more
    Cast 1/1 before the Bhardwaj = C + E = .10
    Alternatively, she could have switched the two high bar releases and done a free-hip 1/2 before the Tkatchev for .10, and placed the Front Giant 1/2 before the transition for the final .10.
    BB: Intended 9.70-9.80 base SV
    1-arm BHS + LSO + LSO = .20
    Split 1/1 = .10
    Aerial + Back Tuck + BHS = .30 new*
    Switch to Back Dive 1/4 = .10
    Gainer 1-arm + Back Pike = .10 *new*
    Switch Side = .10 *new*
    Punch Front = .10
    RO + BHS + Double Tuck = .20 *new*
    FX: Intended 9.90 SV, realistic 9.70 (only credited 1x with the Popa + Tuck Jump 2/1)
    Gogean + Popa = .20 *new*
    DLO + Punch Front = .30
    Full-In: .20
    Cat Leap 2/1 + 1 1/2 = .20
    Tuck Jump 2/1 (solo) = .10 *new*
    Whip + Whip + BHS + Double Pike = .20 *new*
    Alternatively, she could have added a Strug to one-foot before the Gogean for .10, and/or added a 4th line of 2 1/2 twist for .10 (and added A+A indirect for an additional .10) or Front Full + Front Tuck Full.

      Whoever you are shut the fuck up. Mo went to the Olympics and you did not. She did just fine. So keep coaching gymnastics from your computer you ratchet skank.

      Negative Nancy A front giant 1/2 was not a C skill in the 01-04 code. An L grip giant 1/2 was a C, but she had never done L grip work before.
      Also, I don't understand why you would change her dance skills. You may feel, after observation, that you have an idea of things she could do, but I highly doubt Galina and Chris would've kept her doing marginal dance skills if there were better options.

      The thing they missed out on with her Bars was doing the Bhardwaj out of a Shaposh for .2 connection bonus. She'd have 10 SV while being able to take out a HB release, and the unnecessary Cast 1/2, and the Shoot to HB that she always caught too close on:
      Shaposh + Bhardwaj
      Maloney + Bail + toe-circle or stoop through to HB
      Giant 1/1 + Tkatchev (or Toe 1/2 + Gienger, whichever pirouette is easier for her)
      Double Lay 1/1 dismount
      On Floor the big thing EVERYONE didn't figure out in this code was Double Turn + 2/1 jump to prone for a C + D connection that would be consistent and hard to deduct. Bhardwaj could have been the Floor champion, she had the best choreography that year (especially if she would have been able to take out the clunky Popa + 2/1 Tuck) and huge, clean acro.
      On Beam the Tuck jump 1/1 should have been used by almost everyone since it was overvalued at D and very connectable. Khorkina's combo of Switch Split + Tuck 1/1 + "3/4" straddle to side support was probably the smartest thing anyone did on Beam that quad. The next smartest thing was Alexandra Eremia's overvalued D + C combo of Switch 1/4 + "Straddle 1/2" to side support. It's also a big mystery how the Gainer Layout dismount was a D for so many years and not exploited. That thing should have gotten downgraded way before 2017.

    Yes, and I really think that she could do a harder 3rd transition to the high bar. That one was so easy! That skill was her problem.

  • @481095ymg2
    @481095ymg2  14 років тому

    @jojo1802 Actually I think I was wrong in saying 9.8, i think the start value was actually 9.90. Anyway, to get an extra tenth she could have added a C element (something like a toe-on to handstand, stalder, or free hipcircle) before her tkatchev to recieve a tenth in connection, or she could have changed her full pirouette to a free hipircle full or toe-on full for an extra tenth.

    i dont know what else she coulda done for a transition. she already had a shaposhnikova as her first and a stalder lift as her second. the third transition was simple but it worked well with her routine. if anything she should have connected a piruette with the tkatchev to get a little more bonus. she coulda probably pulled off a hop full directly connected to the tkatchev.

      Her start value was 9.7, so actually, this is an extremely high score, rewarding her for excellent execution. Most of the US team had 10 start values, that's why their scores were higher.

    well her start value was only a 9.8, so if you were to add the two tenths on to her score it would have been a 9.687, which would have qualified her.

  • @CACHCL
    @CACHCL 11 років тому

    If they used the score system now she would probably make it since it would increase her start value due to difficulty

  • @marushk161
    @marushk161 12 років тому

    I think this transition isn't considered as an element anymore (it's not in the code). The gymnasts get 0.3 deduction for a bar change without performing an element.

  • @jeffy5482
    @jeffy5482 15 років тому

    I hate to defend Tim, but he was right. She let go a bit too early. She was able to work with it and only have the slightest of hops forward but it was a mistake. She didn't get the height she normally did, and got more distance: that's a result of letting go early.
