The drummer in the 1rst tune using the butt of the stick doing an accent~ nice touch volume wise. He then ends the tune w/ both stix in R hand 1 w/ bead other with the butt , R hand with a brush. Crafty player. Great recording fellas!
Isn't it awesome to find new acts? I got to see both Emmett's Trio and Samara with her band in Newport 2 years ago. It's refreshing to hear a new breed rippin' thru a standards set, new stuff, etc.
Of course one of - maybe the best - streamed concert of this thundering trio. Hopefully we'll have a streamed second set... 0:00:00 Tonight (Leonard Bernstein, from West Side Story) 0:05:45 Lion Song (Emmet Cohen dedicated to Willie The Lion Smith) 0:14:55 Off Minor (Thelonious Monk) / You Already Know (Emmet Cohen) 0:32:15 I Surrender, Dear (Harry Barris / Gordon Clifford) 0:38:45 song needed... 0:47:30 Everlasting (Emmet Cohen) 0:58:10 Funky Stuff (?)
Vaya tela! He visto muchos conciertos de Emmet. Y mil gracias.
...to your bandmates! I can't seem to nail that song title at the 33 minute mark? Just a fabulous performance, thank you for all you share, and your positive attitude is tremendous!🍷
I am enjoying this tremendously! and at the same time it occurs to me that you might be aliens who have come here to make fun of the whole idea of a piano jazz trio! You are throwing everything into the pot and make a stew that contains every flavor from Jelly Roll to Erroll Garner to Monk to Brubeck to John Lewis... to Looney Toones. Everything old becomes new again...and it all comes back to swing and groove. You are the most!
@@johnbrown9092 I would love to check it out one day, absolutely! Ever been to the Bronx in New York City? Most people avoid it but it’s an amazing place.
Love this! ❤ Can’t wait to see Emmet live someday … please come & perform in CT USA! I know you’ll be in NYC June 2024, with Ron Carter, but I can’t get into the city easily 😢😁
Otherworldly.
I was in the club that night… the atmosphere was amazing and the music is just mindblowing❤
I remember seeing you there.
Lucky you😊

EC3...REAL MUSICIANS !!!
woow what a magic all of tunes.
Im very enjoyed 5:45- his original Lion song.
This sounds me as if Beethoven’s 23rd-3 sonata motif.
Good evening jazz family!

Hey! I can't find the tune originally played by Willie the Lion Smith which corresponds to 0:05:45 , which one is it?
0:38 cup bearers by Tom McIntosh
@@MartinJollet i woud say, it's a Cohen composition dedicated to the man, not a certain song of Willie The Lion.

Went to see the Trio two nights ago in Eugene OR. AMAZING! Don’t miss the opportunity to see them live near you!
Seeing two of these guys tomorrow in Eugene, OR of all places...so PSYCHED!!
Emmet this is marvellous, you play the piano spectacular !!!!!!!!! 💕💕💕💕😍😍😍😍🌹🌹🌹🌹
Emmet's music is Monday evenings staple now.
Facebook live stream keeps freezing so I switched to UA-cam because I don’t want to miss a moment of this fabulous trio.

Buenas noches desde Cádiz (España).....la ciudad de la música y el compás......
Such great music to listen to. Cheers Emmet and the Trio🥃

If they are aliens they are very very welcome!
Wish I had been there😊 fantastic! Please come to Liverpool.
Is there a jazz scene there? I’d love to play there someday.
@@rhythmfield Seems these days that it would be a the Royal Philharmonic Hall rather than a club unfortunately. Its great there by the way!

The guys were really channeling the Oscar Peterson trio on Tonight. Just excellent playing!!
Emmet please come to Sydney too! 💖
Fantastic set -- many tunes I hadn't heard you play before. I loved every one of them. See you Wed in PDX!

For instance, JAZZ at The Post in Westport, CT is the latest hotspot just outside of NYC jazz scene!
Great work Brother Emmet
Thanks for a lovely show!
Welcome to Stuttgart!
PERFECT !!

Please! Name of the last tune of this set?
♥♥♥♥
The sound of the piano is not too good... but, the musicians are incredible !
You are right but have you listened to the recent upload of their Berlin show? It SOUNDS a m a z i n g!!
What’s the first tune called? Is it an original?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonight_(West_Side_Story_song)
Tonight. Leonard Bernstein
It's the Oscar peterson arrangement of Tonight

But....not far from Stuttgart....they make Porsches. Which is not that bad. Well.....
The live videos of the tour 6 months after this do not benefit from the same perfect sound quality. Bix Club must have some choice gear in house.
