The Daily Battle For Survival While Living In Cambodia's Slums | Beyond Human Boundaries

  • In the Cambodian slums, one man must scavenge for food, collect trash, and risk it all to survive. With no experience of living in conditions like this, in a matter of moments, his world is flipped upside down.
Beyond Human Boundaries tells the story of Arman Alizad, an ordinary man, who travels with his cameraman to eight countries trying to get into a community, group, tribe or environment for 10 days. This is not only a show of endurance but an emotional story about people who live in some of our planet’s most unforgiving conditions.

This documentary brought me into tears. I cried like a baby.😭
I am from South Africa, I have seen poverty but not at this scale.
    This t just too much😭
To think that there are people who are sooo rich that they buy private jets and their OWN Islands, things that they don't really need, is just very sad😒
If had that much money, I would rather go to these poor places and help at least one maybe more families, just like this guy did.

This video is sooooo accurate! I lived and worked in Cambodia and it was heartbreaking, because poverty, drugs, sexual child abuse and child prostitution was everywhere. Some people chose to ignore it, I tried helping by getting involved. But when the little children go missing it breaks your heart. I left because in the long run, I wasn’t strong enough to continue witnessing the grave inhumanity taking place in Cambodia.

@ HL Watts. Not true. It is true that many poor people are kind and generous, but there is also cruelty in slums. Many western men have been hustled by attractive women who are greedy and selfish. I plan on relocating to Cambodia and deducating my life to tackling poverty. I have never been on the streets. I appreciate the video but i dont think it is necessary to have true empathy. I do think that the rich need to learn to serve as equals, the poor arent below them. I also think a problem is that poverty is s tourist attraction. People do a three month stint in africa and tslk about it changing them but really true change would require more than a vacation. True change requires deep sacrifice. I am not a fan of the adventure mentality that spurns alot of volunteer work.

Do you know that China sent a lot of medical and agriculture experts to many developing countries to perform free medical surgery and teach them how to improve agriculture in their countries beside sending money and food/medicine. Teach them how to build infrastructures, public facilities. So that it reduced the chances and possibility of corruption by the ruler/administration level.

@@noluv4532 I want you to understand that Cambodia is a country that is undeveloped on these type of topic. Unlike western countries and other well developed countries, you guys have the opportunity to help those around you and actually having trusted groups of people either from the government or generally. But in Cambodia, they do not have that type of access to such things because we don't have strong supporters and the money to do above and beyond. Instead, in some shops we have the charity and donation box but it could not be so trusted. I've seen many capable families including my own, ones a year we would pack hundred boxes of food, necessary daily items, clothings and such, drive to the country side and passing them on to those who need it. The schools in Cambodia are also encouraging the students to turn in books and studying items during the end of the year so that other children who doesn't have access to educate to also have a chance to learn like everyone else. Just because you see these type of things doesn't mean that the people are not trying to change it, do you think that we want our country and friends to be like this? Many of us are trying to help these people and hopefully one day we could help each other escape from this.

@@romella_karmey of course everything in life is down to luck... and I so explain to Khmer, that it is only a matter of luck that they are in the situation they are. No, you cannot shed light and give them opportunities.. that is the great misunderstanding. They have been taught by western media and NGOs, that all their problems are to do with Pol Pot - but that was 40 years ago now. But in the way they have been assisted, it has led to a position of wanting to be dependent, and only seeing their salvation in someone from a "wealthy" overseas country coming to rescue them. I know someone reasonably senior in the Cambodian administration, call him a super project manager if you like, and he will agree with me, and is as frustrated as I am. One of his responsibilities, is for the TVET (vocational training) all across Cambodia. He has 600 empty seats, this is all free, and they have even tried paying Khmer to attend.. I knew someone who wanted a better future, and I told her about TVET. We were staying with her Aunt, and when we left and took a different road, about 2 kms about we passed a huge TVET training college. I said she needs to go and inquire what they can offer her... did she do this, no.. and I can list many many many more examples.. so how would you "shed some light" ?????? do tell, because with your attitude, you are part of the problem, that is you refuse to see the real problem because you will not like the reality... oh, and they are not hard working.. what makes you think they are hard working ?????..... I knew someone from the Philippines working in a clothing manufacture factory, supervising.. I said how come you are doing that... because they need to get people from the Philippines as they can focus and work.. if this position was filled by Khmer, nothing would happen.... so how do you know all this about Cambodia ??? have you even been there, or you "saw it on the Internet" ???

He was also in charge of the TVET system for Cambodia. He says he has 600 empty seats and they cannot get Khmer to fill them. I can give you real examples of Khmer who refuse to try and improve their position... where is your evidence that the vocational colleges are a rort.. in terms of what happens all around the world, they are no different to say Australian universities... so do tell, where is your specific experience.. in terms of specifics... I have been stuck in NZ (covid-19) as I would be in Cambodia now... I had a rice seed drill sent from China to Cambodia where I was going to assemble it. I wanted it used this season so I gave instructions on how to assemble it. It took them 2 months.. I would have done it in 2 days.. please explain the difference if they are so "hard working"... it's not really worth saying anymore, as people like you just cover your ears and make a run for the hill.. so really you facilitate this laziness and stupidity... and people like you are part of the problem.. now, which bit did I get wrong ?

I pray these kids will pursue the dream of their life and turn out to be respectable citizens. May you continue to live a long good life to see the apples of your dreams at their success. And that many people like you will after all help the poor, children of this world. May God bless you sir and others like you love ❤️ and peace to you.

I started to support a street kids charity in 2013 in the Philippines. I was horrified at the conditions the poor kids experience in the slums. I go over every year to do outreach with them and we teach the kids a lot about life and the dangers they will face and how to avoid the bad situations, how to eat properly , etc. I am sad I can’t go this year due to Covid but at least I can wire $. The 3 latest typhoons and Covid have made life even worse. I am glad I am in a position to help. I just wish more people would watch important documentaries like this to see what is going on in the world... ☹️

In every country, it is the same. The poor and landless struggling every day just to survive. And nobody cares. They never did and they never will. Those that say the majority of the people are good, are wrong. The majority are bad. I lived very similar to this just 20 years ago in San Antonio Texas, collecting aluminum cans every day so that I could eat, making about 3 or 4 dollars a day, living in a patch of bush along side the road. But I had to stop doing this hard, but honest way of making a living when the heartless city bus drivers would no longer allow me to get on the bus with my cans to take to the recycling place. So it forced me to start begging to survive. Sometimes I made a lot more per day, but america's heartless criminals with badges, the police, kept harassing and threatening me, so it forced me into doing things more and more illegal just to survive. And now, with the fascists shutting everything down, life for the homeless free people such as myself is more difficult than ever. Videos like this are made to make people feel sorry just because kids are involved, to hell with the elderly who live just as bad, if not worse, in the richest country on earth, the USA.

The richest country on earth with homeless? But we are homeless by choice how many times you had the chance to leave the streets? Most of the homeless use drugs or alcohol they waist their money doing that. I have experience on the streets because I myself I am homeless , when I separated my x and I found out she was living with another man I lost all hope but I never stopped believing iñ God I kept praying and asking God why but the only blame was on me I was so depressed that I lost interest in working but I still worked some days just to keep feeding myself I asked myself why I didn't want to work when I always liked to work then I disided to work but the bad smell if I taked a shower the cloth still smelled bad but even with that I managed to get work I still miss my wife and childrens and I am still homeless but by choice now I don't want to have a home because I don't want to go every day and finding an empty home I live in my van so that way I don't go to an empty home or room and I have the feeling that maybe one day I get back home ,I always pray for my family that God will protect everyone even when they not even remember me .but they live in my heart so this is the richest country blessed by God even the homeless are richer than the average rich in the world ,is not me saying that I read it in the stadistics but we don't want to see it we find easier to blame others for our mismagement of our money, we spend our money I things that we can't afford I see people with the top of lines phones or iphones I work and I work hard I work in alaska I make money but I can afford one of those fancy phones I am 68 not retired I don't like easy money . And I am homeless by choice

I can’t help but say to him you are so lucky and blessed to even have food in your lunchbox I don’t have a lot And there’s people out there who have absolutely nothing kids who did not eat for days I tell my son this and I tell him you’d be grateful for the food that you get to eat. I know he is only five and does not completely understand. I can’t help but tell him this when I hear these things out of his mouth and I feel that way because I watch things like this and I see children’s suffer
