Mate -- Have you upgraded your socks since being on the road? Found your vids yesterday so going back in time with ya ~ nice to watch someone from the very beginning of a much-desired lifestyle.
chris you stopped coding because coding is so though and competitive nowadays, but do not think it was time wasted. I believe it was a great experience and the knowledge you earned changed who you are. I'll still love your videos even if you are a marketer. Probably you are my favorite Marketer
It's kindda funny that you're working remotely in Asia, and me, an asian (also a digital nomad) is working remotely here in the US. Lol! I'm going to spend a few months in Ubud though sometime in august, so we might actually see each other in Hubud.
Thanks Chris for de-romanticising some of the BS around life in SEA and not trying to perpetuate the myth that its all just sunsets and mai-tais. I've had days in Thailand and Malaysia where I didnt want to leave my accommodation I was so sick of the traffic/crowds/pollution - fortunately I didnt have deadlines to meet (the internet in the last place I stayed was probably good enough for me to have worked as a developer but I had no need to do so). If you get a chance to spend a few days in Jakarta or Surabaya, please take it - Jakarta left me wondering just how much a human being can endure simply to earn a living, and Surabaya's traffic is reportedly even worse. Indonesia needs to confront the issues on Java instead of simply transferring the overpopulation to Bali and other islands. Kuta desperately needs a 6-lane freeway, but we both know where the money from tourists goes and its not back into infrastructure for the island. All the best with your channel.
Hey David. I'm currently finishing up my contract with PetCloud where I work as a web developer. After that I will look for more web dev work and possibly some video work as well
The video is great man!! Can I ask you a couple of questions, I will be working in UK time so 5pm - 1am in Bali. Are the Internet cafes open 24 hours? What is the WiFi speed like in Bali? Is it strong enough to hold video conferences for work? Thank you !
Hi Chris, enjoying the videos. How do you video your clips where you are walking along the sidewalk by yourself? Is someone watching your camera for you? I like the cinema effect of that.
what I need? tips on where to buy advertisement to market my apps.. and I'll probably buy your book one of this days when I am more chilled (with my work). Internet Marketing is a good field
+В ОТПУСК САМ! Hey Thanks! I mention the coworking space at the start. It's called Hubud and the internet is probably the best you're gonna get in Ubud. Would highly recommend.
Hi Chris. Just discovered (and subbed to) your channel. Good stuff man! Where do you get the music for your videos? The songs are always so high-energy and have the exact "feel" I'd like to have in my videos. Thanks!
+Julian Dujarric put it this way. I've had 3 of my most watched video ineligible for monetisation due to copyright but now I make sure it doesn't happen by testing it first
so you quit your job to stop going to the office , and once you become a nomad that can work from home what do you do ? you look for an office to go to work.
Hey man! thanks for the video. How much do you think one can spend on basic stuff to live there? I'm talking about food + place + co-working space + transportation.
+rentless Just finished up my wrap-up of our month in Bali including cost of living. Find it here: www.christhefreelancer.com/2016/02/29/one-month-as-a-digital-nomad-in-bali/
hey buddy. I noticed you start work at 7 everyday, is that to stay on Australia time and collaborate with a team, or, just cos you enjoy those hours. sorry to keep bugging ya I'm just curious about how much freedom you have as a coder there to picks and choose when you work
I'm guessing you mention this in a video somewhere, but do you need special visas to do web development or programming in other countries? And how do you find your jobs? Im kind of torn between doing web development or java.
Hey, I'm thinking of DN'ing in Bali for 2-3 months. How did you organise your accommodation? Through AirBnB? If you dont mind me asking, was your accommodation affordable? Ie around $US400/month?
+Sam Me hey man. Yeah it was all through BnB. All of that information and more is in my wrap-up article of our month in Bali including. Find it here: www.christhefreelancer.com/one-month-as-a-digital-nomad-in-bali/
Bali (I've heard) has a very different culture to the rest of Indonesia. Most of the rest of the country is Muslim for example. Bali is predominantly Hindu.
Thank you for replying , I’m a retired Muslim American who retired and lives in Jawa Timur. I was just curious being that I have not been to Bali yet in my 2 years living here.
I heard remote work sucks ass. I mean, it would be super cool to live in another country or countries for 6 months to a year, but that shit can't be permanent unless you plan on staying there.
Chris the Freelancer jajaja .. no worries mate.it was a joke but the way i love ur videos. keep going bro. i think been a DN is a really difficult way of making a life.. that shit is not for everyone.. anyway there are like millions of milenials thinking that is an easy job..... jajaj is not... is just another full time job with a huge financial risk. i wish u the best. and i already subscribed.
Got about 100X more actual serious work than this done every day while living in Bali from 79 to 85 - complex creative work, in advertising, fashion, and architecture - with 200 Balinese employees. You're faking it Dude...
Chris is was great to meet you today! Your camera work is amazing, you captured Ubud and the space really well. I love it!
Thank you Clay and Drew!
Mate -- Have you upgraded your socks since being on the road? Found your vids yesterday so going back in time with ya ~ nice to watch someone from the very beginning of a much-desired lifestyle.
Haha yeah. Denise bought some new ones for me!
Hey man, just stumbled on your channel. I sat in that chair at 3:34 a couple months ago. Nice work.
chris you stopped coding because coding is so though and competitive nowadays, but do not think it was time wasted. I believe it was a great experience and the knowledge you earned changed who you are. I'll still love your videos even if you are a marketer. Probably you are my favorite Marketer
That's a quality prison shower you've got there.
this makes me laugh louder than I should
My place in Legian had the Crapper in the Shower. Makes it easy for multitasking 😂👍

Hey man. Not sure when I'll be back but maybe!
+Chris the Freelancer ah so you already left. I could use some tips on how to live and have fun in bali. :-D
+Cris Rene Denopol haha yeah buddy. Haven't you been following the channel? There's been 9 Vlogs since this one was filmed.
Thanks Chris for de-romanticising some of the BS around life in SEA and not trying to perpetuate the myth that its all just sunsets and mai-tais. I had a horrible day at work today. I hate my job and I envy your life.
That's a shame MV but all is not lost. How can I help you transition into this lifestyle?
The video is great man!! Can I ask you a couple of questions, I will be working in UK time so 5pm - 1am in Bali. Are the Internet cafes open 24 hours? What is the WiFi speed like in Bali? Is it strong enough to hold video conferences for work? Thank you !
I'm also trying to be digital nomad. Your videos are inspiring. From Bukhara (uzb)
That's the idea! Thanks Shakhrillo
Nice Chris! Keep the videos coming mate!
Cheers nick :)
Hi Chris, enjoying the videos. How do you video your clips where you are walking along the sidewalk by yourself? Is someone watching your camera for you? I like the cinema effect of that.
Nup. I just try to do it where there's not a lot of people around to steal it. Been kind of hard here in Saigon
Cool, keep up the good work!

Hi Chris. Just discovered (and subbed to) your channel. Good stuff man! Where do you get the music for your videos? The songs are always so high-energy and have the exact "feel" I'd like to have in my videos.
Thanks!
soundcloud.com is where I find most of my music
Cool.. Do you ever run into copyright issues? Or is this royalty free? Thanks for the response!
+Julian Dujarric put it this way. I've had 3 of my most watched video ineligible for monetisation due to copyright but now I make sure it doesn't happen by testing it first
I can’t quite get over filming socks with holes in 😂
Hi Chris, where did you stay when you were in Ubud? Was it near Hubud? Im trying to plan my Bali trip and would need some work to get done as well.
Hey there! Yes it was. We booked the place on AirBnB. Sulendra bungalows if I remember correctly
Hey Chris! I've been watching your videos and loving your journey. Question, do you edit your own videos or get someone to?
Haha of course I edit my own stuff! I love it
so you quit your job to stop going to the office , and once you become a nomad that can work from home what do you do ? you look for an office to go to work.
Never said that I quit my job to stop going to an office.
Hey man! thanks for the video. How much do you think one can spend on basic stuff to live there? I'm talking about food + place + co-working space + transportation.
+rentless Hey. I'll be finishing up my review article on Bali in the coming weeks. I'll let you know when it lands :)
+rentless Just finished up my wrap-up of our month in Bali including cost of living. Find it here: www.christhefreelancer.com/2016/02/29/one-month-as-a-digital-nomad-in-bali/
***** Thank you. Very descriptive and informative. It'll definitely help me out to move from my country.
Hi, The way filmed it, too good
Thanks Nagendra
Why do you take off your shoes before entering the office?
It's a cultural thing.
hey buddy. I noticed you start work at 7 everyday, is that to stay on Australia time and collaborate with a team, or, just cos you enjoy those hours. sorry to keep bugging ya I'm just curious about how much freedom you have as a coder there to picks and choose when you work
During this particular time in Bali, the answer is yes but otherwise, I like to get up early usually anyways
I'm guessing you mention this in a video somewhere, but do you need special visas to do web development or programming in other countries?
And how do you find your jobs?
Im kind of torn between doing web development or java.
UpWork is where I find most of my leads and in terms of visas, we use tourist visas :)
Chris can I ask do you prefer Bali or Chang Mai?
I definitely preferred Chiang Mai for a long period but since coming back to Bali this year, Canggu is now my preferred area.
What is that thing under your macbook ?
thanks :)

Can't remember sorry. It was just an AirBnB.
Bruh! The socks game. PLEASE, rectify said situation!!! lool

I have a Question why just Bali ? I heard that the whole country of Indonesia was a tropical paradise.
What do you do for work?
ua-cam.com/video/buqYbysNgWM/v-deo.html

I was just lazy when it comes to replacing socks. I've gotten better since then however.
Like the title
Can you explain what kind of lock you use on your laptop to secure it?
ua-cam.com/video/N0brz4e52C8/v-deo.html
Super clever. The power board, roost and blade! I dig. Minimal but considered.
Cute.
Wich Ganz track?
Should've know (GANZ remix)

to spend that much about of time of a laptop, that's unreal.. coding, must be challenging..
Yes. Sometimes it is!

can't u afford to buy new socks as a digital nomad?
I have a habit for breaking them and not bothering to fix them. Do not worry. I bought socks since then ;)
Chris the Freelancer

Nice man. Keep up the good work! Check out my coding videos if you're interested. Cheers!
fat mamma....!!!!!
I just saw a man on UA-cam complaining about horrible internet in Bali. Is it horrible or is it good?
Depends on where you hang out I guess. In my experience, it's been quite good.
