My wife is from Nakhon Phanom which is not very far away from Mukdahan.
I remember watching a thai tv show Nakhee - about a snake, i think they spoke Isaan in it.

I think Isan people are the most genuine of all Thais. They have also been looked down upon for years by central Thais. When I am in thailand, I find the central part to be the least hospitable part and full of a lot of arrogance when compared to the other regions..

Language is a dialect of Thai, because in fact, it is a dialect of Laos, but the hegemony of the central Thai people has caused Isan people to often feel uncomfortable or inferior when speaking their language…
This is so dumb…it’s just the Lao language with a few thrown random Central Thai words thrown here and there. Isan is not it’s own language just a dialect of Lao. You people need to learn your education beyond Thai nationalist rhetoric.
Isan region is in Thailand, so it's a dialect of Thailand. You can acknowledge two things at once: Isan and Laos are part of the same genealogy, but Isan is also in Thailand, not Laos. No need to be negative and call this "dumb"
@@surskitpond Dialects of the same language don’t need “subtitles” for translation. Guess which languages need subtitles for translating “Isan” and not the other…hmm Central Thai, never Lao. No one ever claimed Isaan isn’t part of Thailand now (that much is obvious), but educate YOURSELF first on the differences between a dialect versus another language.
And FYI Isaan used to be part of Central and Southern Laos. Is it any wonder the people speak almost identical as Lao from the other side of the river? The only difference is due to Central Thai colonialism rule, Isan Lao now has a lot of borrowed Thai speech patterns thrown in there now…so it diverged away from True Lao language a bit, but it still is a dialect of Lao at the end of the day. It’s just artificial borders and politics that divide the people.
I just want to know who hurt you lol. Why are you so bitter towards a video about a word game from central Thai and its dialect. Sure Isaan might’ve had big influence from Laos but you missed the whole point of this video. No where did anyone say Isaan is it’s own language, no one is arguing where it derived from. But yet here you are needlessly commenting that it’s dumb and “You people” need education beyond Thai nationalist rhetoric. Do you hear how dumb YOU sound? Do you have some type of absurd grudge against Thais? Isaan people? The dialect or language? Do you feel like Isaan region should be a part of Laos? Like 😂 I’m so confused because I’m watching this video happy as can be about the representation Isaan is getting and I see you. I never comment but congrats I guess. Please seek help. Also shout out to @freshdietwater because they are absolutely right.
Educate yourself, Isan was not part of Lao, Lao was part of Isan and Lanna, until the French came along and stole it. If the French didn't colonize South East Asia and minded their own business then Lao would be part of Thailand. So you have it the other way round. Lao is an Isan language, with some French thrown in.
@@MrJoey1971 ^Isan is the lost provinces of Vieng Chan and Champasak….And historically part of Lao Lan Xang. Why the hell do you think the Lao capital is so close to the modern artificial borders of Thailand huh? Lao people internal fighting was what made the kingdom split into 3 Lao competing kingdoms before the Siamese came along and manipulated Europeans (the stupid French) into giving them the modern region known as Isan. There are even documented images of Lao slaves being brought over to the Central regions to build up the new Siamese capital for example. Why else do you think there are 3xs more Lao on the Western Bank of the Mekong as opposed to the Eastern Banks? Because of the Siamese campaigned to capture and enslave as many Lao (particularly craftsman and farmers) to feed their Siamese war army machines/ “manifest destiny” expansionist policies.
YOU are the ignorant one….probably think you know the history of the region based off of what your “Thai friends” or significant other told you. Newsflash, the average Thai citizen (just like the average U.S. citizen and Filipino citizen) are very ignorant of their own historical facts and heavily ingrained with nationalist propaganda.
Also, aside from Germany…Thailand has the most (in terms of per capita) number of speakers who speak the Central Thai language (Siamese) as a second language,….so it’s not even the dominant language unless you count it as being forced onto the population as a whole.
