He never stayed clean and his addiction finally took his life in 2006 I listened to this song a million times over the years including when I got clean myself in 2020. A ton of Shawn's music got me through it. Like a lot of other fans, I have been given the gift of catharsis through experiencing emotion I wasn't previously able to access. It’s a sad song that tells the story of a group of young men who were executed without trial in Ireland. The Daoirí Farrell version is amazing, but I think Shawn’s sound and vocal range would lend itself perfectly to the song.
