TOUCH UP PAINT - THE KEY TO FIXING ROCK CHIPS

  • Hey everyone. In today's video, my friend Judah and I go over two different touch up paints to see just how effective they are. Over the lifetime of your vehicle, wear and tear on your paint is inevitable, and although it's not perfect, touch up paint can be a great way to get rid of those eyesores and hide the blemishes from far away.
I want to thank my friend Judah for being a part of this video and helping make it possible!

    For best results...
-Sand the hole, and feather the edges about 1/4" around the area, as well, with 1500.
-Apply paint. Let dry. repeat until the paint is above the surface of the surrounding area.
-Wet sand it flush to the surrounding area with 2500.
    -Apply clear.
-Wet sand it flush to the surrounding area with 2500.
-More clear + sand. Repeat 3-4 times.
    -Wet sand with 4000.
-Buff (A tool is best, but doing it by hand works, too)
Metal flake / pearl paint will never look the same. It's just not possible.

I have used the Motorcraft stuff also with good results. On the paint prep I will use 2500/3000 wet/dry to level out the area so it blends and then clear, after 24 hours or more go back and buff, you will be shocked how good it can look with a little more prep. Your video is great and for the price it does a really good job. Thanks for taking the time to create and post the video!!

With all that damage I honestly would've just taken off the paint with a drill and wire brush type attachment and sprayed new primer, factory color, and clear. Then wet sand to blend. I did it to my car last year and you'd never guess the paint was removed. The color was a black metallic so I was thrilled to see it looked great even with metallic.

A pre ruster must be bought separately with the Dr.??? Kit. My fender has that bubbling c300 Benz. Sanding hugh imperfection down to the metal is a scary task for a newbie.
