I’m an amateur historian and I started with good narrative history books then I was able to love the “dry” history books as I evolved. The War of the Roses by Dan Jones and Washington’s Crossing by David Hackett Fischer are a couple of accessibly pleasing history books. Keep up the brain food!
My first recommendation for you: "A moral history of the 20th century" by Jonathan Glover. The chapter on whether it was morally acceptable to drop the atomic bombs on Japan 🇯🇵 is alone worth getting the book (it includes a fascinating discussion of Catholic Just-War Theology).
I have never understood the complaint that history is "boring". It is the only social science -- the only field of study, period -- that stays focused on actual persons, or peoples, as opposed to abstractions of people. So if you find everyone boring, by all means stay away from history! 8:23 Chernow may have the show, but Forrest McDonald has the ideas. And that's what we owe Hamilton.
Bob Marley once said that Riches refer to the physical acumulation of assets, while wealth includes the abundance state of being for our mind as well as our physical abundance. This really just stuck with me but I guess it's ok to just interchangeabley use both terms lol. Thank you for sharing these books!
They say don't judge a book by its cover but it seems like if they put the work into making an attractive cover then the contents are usually of matching quality. Also, I was checking out another one of your videos and looked up the song by Mac DeMarco. Never heard of him before. So thanks for the book recommendations and for introducing me to more good music.
There is nothing wrong with using the word interesting. Some people say saying the word interesting doesn't say much of anything, but I disagree. If you're aware of the definition of the word, it therefore expresses a concept of exclamation that can be identified, without having to go into specifics.
you should totally read The True Life of Mary Stuart Queen of Scots by John Guy, its probably the easiest and most historically accurate books about her (according to my professor), I just started it and I LOVE it. But I special ordered the original cover because its the book the new movie about her is based on and I don't fuck with movie covers on books lol
@@veronica.theswamphag I'm sure that you love it this country. I'm sorry if my english is not the better my mother tongue is Spanish, but I'm trying to learn jajaja
@@Matias-lz1ki haha no need to apologize for your english it's great! Learning English is super difficult because it's basically a bunch of arbitrary rules and words stolen from other languages all Frankensteined together! I take my hat off to anyone who learns English as a second language!

I would love to read 1920 book for research for my novel. Love your channel so much, I just subscribed 😍. And it’s ok, I say “incredible” a lot in my videos so I get it 😂
Jo the Great yeah I finished it a while ago it didn't take too long and it gives a cool over view of a lot of aspects of the time period! Definitely give it a read :) &thanks do much my friend! More videos soon :) I'm on my way to your channel now!
Whenever a man makes a UA-cam video, the comments tend to be about the subject matter. Whenever a woman makes a UA-cam video, it's always easy to find a comment about how she looks. The funny thing is, that oftentimes, these comments come from women. Funny that🤔.
Sorry for the delay Veronica. Did you finish The Alchemist? And was it amazing? Haha. Have you read any of the non-fiction books you mentioned? Did any disappoint? I heard you say you are Italian but are you partially British? You have a very British look. Right now I am reading a book on the history of Philosophy. It is actually surprisingly good. Also what program do you use to edit your videos? From one Canadian to another great job.

It's super weird that "the 20s" is going to refer to the 2020s and not the 1920s pretty soon.
Books and Other Weapons I know right! I'm definitely going to/throwing a grand 1920s themes NYE party when we enter the new decade!
@@veronica.theswamphag Roarin' 20s coming up again! Looking forward to it. Great idea about a party based on it.

"Peter The Great" by Robert Massie is a good narrative in my opinion. A very interesting Tsar.

Your book of Mary Queen of Scotland and the Isles by Margaret George is a fictional account, so technically not Non Fiction. Just so you know :)
Oh I had no idea, it was with the other non-fiction books in the shop! Thanks for letting me know :)
That's okay I just wanted to make sure you knew that not everything in the book will be completely accurate xx
It's historical non-fiction. So main story is real, Margaret just likes to make the books come to life so it's not entirely boring.
