Thank you Dawn for your response. I see how you respond to almost every comment in some positive and kind way! I’ve been watching and following you for a long time now but due to dropping my iPad in the bathtub a while back, having to order a new one then receiving that new one with a cracked screen and having to repeat the whole process over again etc lets just say I’ve had some difficulty with UA-cam (google in particular) re-loading my info. So all that said, I finally have this straitened out and have subscribed to your UA-cam channel and your new un-boxing channel plus found my way to the shopping channel and signed up for your phone texts !! Yay!! 💝 I absolutely love watching you and learning from you. I know your other viewers tell you this all the time but your knowledge is truly a blessing and a gift! You have enriched what knowledge I have learned over the course of my 64 years by so much and to repeat anther viewers comment “I could and do sometimes binge watch you all day” while getting all my things done at home. You have such a joy for this it’s infectious and you have such a soothing voice! I want you to know how calming that is in this anxious ridden world we are living in today & what a blessing you are!!! Thank you for all your hard work in going to all these wonderful places to show us and teach us! I see sometimes how tired you are and yet you continue on like the professional you are! I would like to know how to join as a Member, can’t seem to find that 1 out? Also do you have to have to have Pay Pal in order to purchase your jewelry at your auctions & in your store? If so I need to reactivate mine before tomorrow’s auction. Please advise. I’m going to be purchasing your kit to teach my granddaughters this wonderful knowledge along with myself as well as some of the books you listed. Again thank you so very much! You will never know how much I needed this new passion for something in my life! I am so sorry this comment was so lengthy but I really want you to know you are AWESOME 💯🤩💝💝💝
@@teresarussell8264 Hi Teresa~ I don't know how to respond! It means a lot to me to think that maybe I'm making a bit of a difference somehow in a small way, just keeping my corner of existence kind
This is a vid that made a striking impression on me when you first debuted it a year ago - and a year later as I watch it again I'm still blown away by your knowledge, collection, and dedication to the art and craftsmanship of jewelry.
That is a huge compliment! Thanks so much Sharon xo~Dawn
I collected Georgian III and mid to late Victorian pieces, but I must admit I knew nothing of the costume pieces except for the pieces I wore in the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. Your videos have been very helpful, and I enjoy watching each one. I am an artist, and I have always seen jewelry as a form of art. I especially love the 1960's chokers as I have quite a few from my hippie years and metal flower pins.
Very cool!
Hello Dawn,
I know you did this video a few years ago but I just would like you to know it is such a pleasure learning from you. You are so sharing and caring and i formative. I like collecting vintage too. Learning. Your voice is easy and so very 😮relaxing yet attention grabbing, very eady to listen. It helps plus it really lifts my spirits. Thanks to you, I realized I have some gold Boucher ear rings I thrifted. Don't know if they are real gold but I think so. Need to test. Plus I have picked up a few other unsigned atisan necklaces. This is a great way to remain positive focus, especially when dealing with difficult and dangerous situations. Bless you my dear. I like you. 🙏🙏🥰
THANK YOU for your valuable insights! I came across an Eisenberg set about 20 years ago. It's so gorgeous! Buying it kept me from coveting the diamond one I tried on in Tiffany's.
I'm hoping to have a "Bling Party" in November, and hope to share a few or your ideas.
Oh, and I LOVE the pink Chanel jacket... I have one like it in canary yellow.
I have been into costume jewelry for man many years and this is by far one of the best videos on the subject..
Thank you so much Patricia! I have a question for you, what should I do next? I'm thinking about starting the next video today on some of the good pieces that I actually found in thrift stores, just to show that it really is possible..
@@HUDSONVINTAGE Yes, please do a video of your thrift store finds!
@@HUDSONVINTAGE yes!!

Glad I found you, Dawn! I love vintage jewelry and you have amazing pieces and deep knowledge.
Thanks for watching and commenting Tara Lazar!
Amazingly! I loved it!
I would watch you talk about every single piece of your jewelry. I’m so happy I stumbled on this video. And I love how every time you pick up or put on a new piece you smile so brightly!
Thanks so much for watching Rebekah Hobbs! ❤️
Love, Love, Love your collection especially the earlier timepieces. Each piece is lovelier than the next! I just came across your channel and I'm in LOVE! Thank you for putting this presentation together.
Thank you so much! Thank you for watching! XO~Dawn
OMG - I love love your channel. My high school girlfriend Maureen ( a customer of your’s ) told me about your channel. I am a small time seller and learned by reading books. You have given me more knowledge in one show then and all the books I read. I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate what you’re doing. You have a new big fan. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
So cool! Thanks for watching and commenting Nurse Jan!
Coco may well have spun in her grave when you put those scrumptious Schiaparelli pearls over her divine blazer, haha! I had to lol when you said it was sacrilege! I have two of her boucle jacket/skirt sets, and the cream w/black trim version of what you’re wearing (vintage, of course) and I don’t mind telling you that I’ve been known to wear her jackets with my vintage ripped up 501s, and Dr Martens on occasion-dripping with layered vintage jewelry, and a few scatter brooches, of course!
Of Course!!! That is how you do it!
I'm so happy to have found your video! I've been thinking very hard about a new hobby (to replace a bad habit!) and I think I've decided to try thrifting for costume jewelry! I have mourned the loss of a gorgeous rose gold watch. I'm looking for the band more-it was flowers...my mother had a beautiful collection of flower petal jewelry (40's, 50's) I think were made of porcelain ... the necklace you showed (pink, blue w/flowers) alongside the 2 bracelets (Marino was one) reminds me of some of her items I would like to collect.
Thank you so much! I look forward to more binge watching your videos! Love them
Just watched you for the first time. You are wonderful. Very calm and informative. Been around the block eh? Live it all. I have quite a collection from about three grandmother's and many things I have collected over the years. I have no idea if valueable, but it's not junk, I have a pretty good eye. I will remember you dear and give your name to my son's, if that's okay with you, so when the time comes, they will have someone knowledgeable and honest to get a valuation. If that is something you be interested in. We live in Minnesota and am just guessing you don't☺️ Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed your sharing your pretties and knowledge. Take care and stay safe.
Yes. You must stay safe as well. We are so close! I do all that stuff by email and it's good to have a plan, but we are still above ground today my friend. xo~Dawn
Hello, I SO LOVED seeing your beautiful jewelry! I am new at learning about vintage pieces. I inherited my grandmother's costume jewelry with some of the names that you mentioned. It is all so unique and beautiful and in great shape. I would be interested in knowing more about what I have and was hoping maybe you would have some advice. She was 96 when she passed away in 2015. Thank you for sharing your expertise. :) Lisa A.
Thanks for watching and commenting @user-zs3ig6vn3j!
A new subscriber here…this vid is 3 years old, but the info won’t ever go out of date! I’m a very part-time reseller and would like to pick up more valuable vintage jewelry. There’s so much to learn. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful presentation of those incredible pieces! I loved the info on makers' unique findings. I have a few older wonderful brooches I've found - but it surprises me how beautiful the finish & settings, whether glass, paste or faux or real pearls has held up. No marks but still beautifully crafted little pieces of art in themselves! So I think it'd be very interesting to learn more about the finishes. I think the pretty nice clasps on older paste & pearl-type necklaces to be very interesting. Those beautifully detailed findings are so often in perfect shape, even if the necklace is long gone. MONET - I was given a Monet horseshoe charm in 84 that I love. Then I bought a long strand of Monet white handknotted "pearls". It was a favorite piece & they lasted for over 15 years of hard wear. They probably made me really love my first cultured pearls even more!
Exactly LeeAnn! The quality is so much better XO~Dawn
Having many collectible pieces myself, I would love to get an idea of what the values are.
Hi Sandra, I have a patreon with 4 tiers of benefits, for everyone from collectors to professionals (or just email me) XO~Dawn
A most valueable and helpful video! Looking at one of my favorite things, vintage jewelry! I especially enjoy brooches and have a wonderful collection of them. It's my "thing" and i wear them with jean jackets, sweaters, anytime to "dress up" an outfit. My most favorite jewelry designer was JUDY LEE and i have a nice collection of those jewelry items, mainly her big, chunky bracelets and clip earrings which I remake into cocktail rings. I am subscribed! Thanks for the wonderful, informative video and for sharing your knowledge with us! :)
I just found you today and will be bingeing all of your videos! I love finding vintage pieces in the “wild” and am working on improving my knowledge of quality pieces that are unsigned. I just ordered the Monet book you suggested. Thanks for all of the great information!
Welcome!! Thanks for watching and commenting Kate Rader!
The prettiest most beautiful collection I've seen to date! A new subscriber here! I would love more info on how to identify rhodium plating. I think I have some pieces that are rhodium plated but I'm not sure.
Hi Lisa! I replied to your email, but it says "not delivered" and I tried twice. Do you have FaceBook or Instagram? If you do message me at "Hudson Vintage". I loved your email, and my reply will make you happy! XO~Dawn
Hi Lisa, I start with who made the piece, and when. After awhile you know things like Eisenberg used Rhodium plating between certain years etc. I recommend these books :
1. American Costume Jewelry: Art & Industry, 1935-1950, A-M (Hardcover) amzn.to/2zff5cQ
2. American Costume Jewelry: Art & Industry, 1935-1950, N-Z (Hardcover) amzn.to/2UhMAm9

Hi Dawn,
I don't know if you still read comments here but just watched your video & thoroughly enjoyed it. I so badly wish I had saved more of MY Chanel suit wearing Mother's fabulous jewelry as I recall her dropping names like Monet, Napier, Eisenberg and wearing many shell & stone sets she owned (mop, turquoise, abalone & coral) I remember at Halloween draping myself at 8yrs old (1969) with her sparkly necklaces! Rhinestones galore! She had furs too!
So many things from rummage sales! I caught her jewelry virus.
I have several signed brooches & necklaces- but also many I just "like". I loved your comment to a previous viewer about "Still being Above Ground"- as a Nurse- I say that to folks a lot!
I was curious, as I too miss our Joan Rivers- do you think buying her jewelry is a good investment?
Or think it depends on the piece?
Like her bees? Anyways, stay safe during these crazy times.
I will look for other videos from you! Thanks 💎🤩 Debbie
Hi Debbie~ Thanks for writing and really such kind words! I do think Joan Rivers is good and they really are getting more and more collectible every day! Stay safe and sane, ❤️ D
What jewelry (if any) should people pay attention to now for the future generations. Are there any materials or high quality made pieces by some brands that could have future value?
Some over produced pieces by boutiques are beautiful! I just wonder if I should hold on to anything long term. I wonder how valuable y2k & 80s/90s pieces from Claires or The limited will be in 20+ years. I have some amazing enamel and rinstone necklaces that people overlook because they aren't "antique or vintage". Interesting to think about ♡
I did a video from the future on what I'm collecting in 20 years! ua-cam.com/video/Q0mfZdnYCRk/v-deo.html I love this question and keep watching and you will see!!
I went out specifically yesterday to look at thrift store jewellery. I was testing myself and listening to your voice in my head. I didn’t buy anything, but felt I have learned a lot, so far. Thank you for sharing your incredible knowledge❤️
Love that!
I'm literally 🤤 drooling and 🥰 loving every piece; so scrumptious!!! Thank You for the treat! I bought 2 books through your link!!!
That is so nice, Thank you o much! XO~Dawn
I love, love your knowledge and collection, so wonderful. I am hoping that your camera work and editing comes up to the level of your knowledge. Currently the pieces are harder to see than they need to be, but still great to get glimpses of all and real looks at some.
Hello Anne! Thanks for writing, yes I love editing and in the 2 years since I did this video I have gained skill, but still learning!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I love watching you go through a thrift store and just “ knowing” if something is valuable!
Thanks for watching and commenting Beverly Knight!
Oh man, this was so fun to watch and learn from! I’m having a rough day and this just washed it all away! Thank you!
Were you able to attribute that 3-strand, wired-ring necklace that you thought might be Chanel or YSL? Surely someone has recognized that construction and reached out?
Well the embossing on the connectors is the same as Chanel embossing, and when I bought it , it was on a Chanel hanger in a closet, so that kind of says it. But because these videos are up forever I only said what I was absolutely sure of. I hope your day got better. Hugs~D
You are so lovely and your great passion for Vintage Jewellery is wonderful! You are very knowledgeable and it's great that you take the time to inform others of what they need to know when collecting these items. Thank you for all the work and effort you put into these videos! ♥️🌹♥️🌹♥️🌹♥️
Thank you so much!

You are very welcome! 🌹🌹🌹🎉🎉🎉
I just started looking at costume jewelry for resale. I have started with vintage signed Avon and I have found a lower cost Coro but I was getting overwhelmed. Your videos are really helping so thank you so much 😊 ❤
Thanks for sharing!!
Just found your channel. I love vintage jewelry. My late aunt was a jewelry aficionado. I kept jewelry that no one in the family wanted and have a Boucher pin, a signed Shapierelli(sp) necklace and numerous rhinestone pins beautifully designed though not signed. I’m very interested in learning about costume jewelry and increasing my collection.
Welcome!! Salutations fellow collector, and thank you so very much for watching! XO~Dawn
Enjoyed you're video and your presentation style! I look forward to other videos made by you. Really loved the dragonfly necklace and the unknown crystal necklace. I hope you found an attribution. Hope to see more schiaparellie and schriener.
Thank you so much! LOVE Schiaparelli
❤️
I adore your delivery, your style and the joy you express with each piece you show. Bravo🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much!
I collect a lot of the same jewels that you do. The Monet pieces are fabulous; the matching earrings are beyond stunning. And don’t even get me started on the Dior festoon necklace-WOW!!! Although I didn’t hear you mention Juliana D&E, I’ve decided to sell my Juliana collection-it’s just not interesting to me anymore. I have about 5 parure sets & many demi/single pieces including a belt. I now collect a lot of vintage Givenchy & Dior pieces because I wear them.
Anyways, this was fun to watch.
Really enjoyed this video! Learned three new things for identifying makers. It certainly is a learning process. Watched where you were shopping at small thrift stores, and was very interested in what you were buying. Some surprises for me!thanks so much!!
I'm delighted to have found your channel! Thank you for sharing so many spectacular pieces. I was quite tickled that you included the iris glass necklace. Iris glass pieces aren't as showy as a lot of vintage jewelry but the glass is so pretty and the pieces often have a delicate beauty.
Well Thank you M! I love Iris glass for that reason. XO~Dawn
What a great collection you have! I collect crystal necklaces and vintage brooches. I never wear the necklaces but I do on occasion wear the brooches. Thank you for all your videos. Again, you lucky girl, I’m so jealous, lol!😉
Thanks for watching and commenting Sherry Laird!
I just found you and I’m so glad I did 😊. I’ve always been attracted to “bling” and pretty pieces. I have a Schiaparelli bracelet that I found at a local thrift store. I absolutely love it! I’m always scouring the local thrift stores for sterling and gold, but now I can add costume pieces that might have some value. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Just found your videos and I’m hooked. Where do you find such gorgeous pieces? It’s hard to believe they can be found in auctions, estate sales or thrift stores.
Hi Jacki! Thanks for the note! It took me decades of study to get lucky out there, it's true. That said, I've heard from many people that the videos help them to buy and to collect!
Hello There! Just discovered your channel and you and your video have won me over and I am now a brand new subscriber! I have been a jewellery lover all my life and this is right up my alley!!! I absolutely love all the pieces you've shown, especially the last one: the Amber Dragonfly! I look forward to exploring your channel!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Welcome aboard! THANK you so much for subbing, it means so much.. That dragonfly IS crazy good though is it not? XO~Dawn
I get excited about vintage jewelery too! I'd love to see more haskell early haskell ...and vintage to current fashion pieces like from deanna hammro and other not as well known names
Great idea!!
It would be helpful to use a table with a close up of the jewelry instead of room view. Pretty though from what I can see.
Hi Rebecca! Yes in more recent videos there is close up and table views.. Thank you so much for watching!!! XO~Dawn
Would LOVE to see pieces never sold to general public. Or a video on pieces designed especially to go with certain clothing designs. That sounds fascinating. Thanks so much Dawn. Very interesting
I did a Miriam Haskell video that showed some of them! ua-cam.com/video/-ZOqUoE0Nyw/v-deo.html! Thanks for watching Suzanne! xo~D
Wow wow wow! I love not only the collectibles but I love to hear your stories! Keep em coming! You should do storytoime every quarter.. an hour of your stories
OMG Lady Dawn! This was a fantastic video. I loved, loved, loved the silver and amber figural necklace. Literally made me drool.
❤️
Loved your video . I never thought much about the costume jewelry my mother gave me and would often let my daughter play with it when she was younger . I also threw out a piece that was particularly gaudy , and now regret doing that . 😬 Lesson learned .
Glad it was helpful!
Wow. Very informative. Great video. Definitely subscribing.
Woo HOO Thank you so much! xo~Dawn
Wonderful! I'm a new subscriber. I am a collector of Barbara Bixby jewelry mainly but you definitely have given me food for thought about collecting Vintage. Thanks.🌹
Wonderful! Thank you so much! xo~Dawn
Great explanation with details, thank you ❤❤❤

Glad it was helpful!
Love all your jewelry! Thanks for teaching us what to look for!

Such a great informative video, thank you so much! You REALLY know your stuff!
Thanks for the feedback! I spent decades studying, right down to the patent searches and museum archives :)
I’m so happy I found this ! The internet doesn’t always have all the info on costume pieces and your knowledge is appreciated!!!
Thank you Bridgette!
I just learned a ton! Thank you. My mom was a jewelry collector her whole life from the mid 50s. She knew it all. I was never interested. Now after her passing, I own 5 moving boxes full of her jewelry collection, many of the names you spoke about. As I go through it all,I will now have some knowledge.
That is awesome!
Wow! How lucky you are to have inherited all this from your mom! I hope you find many beautiful treasures as well as memories as you unbox and go through each piece. My own mom had only a few pieces which I treasure and my dad had several collected watches he never wore that turned out to be a fun surprise to me as well as 1 antique watch of my great grandmother’s that he kept. It actually still works! Of course these are nothing like the treasures Dawn finds and sells but they are very special keepsakes to me. I do have my mother-in-laws collection which is another story as well as quite a few of my own that I had no idea were collectible until I started watching Dawn and learning a ton of wonderful information. I do love her videos and now learning to participate in her auctions. Enjoy! I loved reading your story!💝
So informative. Amazing pieces. Looking forward to learning more about vintage costume jewelry. 😀
More to come! This weeks video is about how to care fore and clean vintage costume jewelry with some of my favorite pieces I have not shown before Thank you so much for watching Jessica! XO~Dawn
What a great video! So informative. I've been a vintage jewelry lover for years (also a vintage and retro bead collector/seller/jewelry maker). I've recently purchased a couple of pieces on an online (local, fundraiser) auction. One is a clearly marked Weiss that I THINK is the 'smokey' rhinestones. It's a double strand bracelet. The other is not marked and is so over the top phenomenal that it can hardly be overstated. It's a mult strand AB bracelet with a focal that is I think called a 'Tivoli'; a pointed/faceted rhinestone? Unfortunately it is unmarked and it's driving me crazy to know who made it. Too beautiful and well made not to be one of the known designers. I've looked everywhere I know to look online but have had no luck identifying it. Any tips? Thanks for the video and your obvious knowledge :-)
❤️
What a beautiful discovery I made tonight; I fell asleep while watching something on UA-cam. I just lost my husband and had to buy a new house and, with that crazy situation going on, I am very stressed out and can't sleep. So, I woke up at 2:15 to the sound of your voice and looked at all the wonderful jewelry that you were showing. You have, in me madame, a new fan! I buy vintage jewelry from garage sales and flea markets. I also buy discarded and broken jewelry from the St-Vincent-de-Paul and I fix them. I would like very much to know what I have in my couple of thousand pieces of jewelry but, my husband being sick, I never had the time or the peace of mind, to investigate anything. After I move in the new house, I will find out about some nice pieces that I have and, go on looking at your videos so that I know what to look for from now-on. Thank you to take the time to share your collection and your knowledge with us. By the way, pieces of jewelry that were never release to the public would be so cool to look at!
Hi Marie, Thank you for the lovely thoughtful message. I Hope your move goes smoothly, that you can rest when you want to, and enjoy setting up your new place when you want to as well. I will do the showroom video, it is so worth it, but I have to be able to show my face for that one, and I just had oral surgery,,, XO~Dawn
@@HUDSONVINTAGE good luck, stay safe and take care or yourself.
I am addicted to your channel. I am 68 year old widow and I don’t go much since my husband died. You are so beautiful and I know your mother is too. What a collection you have. I wish I could find a beautiful piece. Keep these videos coming. I have old phone I watch these on but it will not text. I just love you sweetheart.
Thanks Deb that means a lot!
Really enjoyed this video. I have always been fascinated by costume jewelry and on the hunt for unique pieces. Thanks
OMG!!! The Judith McCann earrings!! I have two pairs of those that I got at an auction in a mixed lot and couldn’t figure them out for the life of me. Mystery solved. Now I just have to figure out what I did with them. I may have put them in a junk pile. I don’t throw things away be because I’m always afraid I’ll later regret it but it will take me a long time to find them. I have that many boxes of junk.
Thanks for watching and commenting @katewest130!
BEAUTIFUL pieces! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Also, for sharing your knowledge with all of us. I am a bit new to collecting and reselling. I am learning. It is more overwhelming than I thought it would be. But what fun. I think I have wasted the last forty years doing mundane thing's. Should have went into jewelry YEARS ago. Thanks again!
P.S. Would love to see a video to get tips on cleaning the vintage jewelry we find. I am buying books. Haha...too many books...
Glad it was helpful! Buying books and educational materials is the best you can do when first starting out. It will save you money in the long run. Cleaning and caring is a fantastic IDEA!! I am going to bump that one up on the list. THANK you so much for watching it means so much XO~Dawn

Thank you for watching Delia! Xo-Dawn
This night of viewing is a salute to your expertise.❤❤❤
Love all things vintage, especially jewelry. I’m addicted to your channel Dawn! I’ve came across a signed Austria (possibly Schoffel) demi parure as well a Hattie Carnegie set. Do you have any in your collection that you can show and speak about? I love that your mom modeled for Hattie 🥰. I know how you feel when you regret selling a piece that you now want to find again. I had an 80s Kunio Matsumoto for Trifari multicolor grape leaves brooch that I miss dearly. I recently sold a 1940s Trifari demi parure to the Costume Dept in Studio City for a certain show too...🎬 but the show is probably on hiatus now...I would watch it just to see my jewelry 😄
❤️
Love to hear you talk about Vintage jewelry.
❤️
How fascinating! I'd never heard of saphiret glass, but it looks beautiful, like a work of art. The Judith McCann wingbacks are so clever. I wish modern day designers would incorporate some of these older techniques in their jewelry, but I guess it would be too cost-prohibitive. The craftsmanship on that Miriam Haskell brooch is amazing. I would love for you to do a video on her pieces :) Also, please do a video of the pieces in your collection that have never been sold to the public. I'd love to see what they look like. And yes, I miss Joan Rivers too. She put a lot of effort and heart into creating her collection of jewelry to make affordable costume jewelry available to a new audience at the time.
Hi QuirkyGirl10, There is no way that jewelry will ever be made like that again. I remember putting a modern YSL bracelet (which is about as high end now as possible for costume jewelry) next to an old Monet and the Monet was so obviously much better. When I get back to my studio I'm going to do Haskell pieces first (some of which were never sold to the public) and then just move on to the other showroom pieces from other designers! ...And the best news is I'm excited to start these projects this week, thank you THANK you for the inspiration! xo ~D.
@@HUDSONVINTAGE how true that the jewelry of yesteryear was so much better made! Like you said, even the everyday costume jewelry was made to last. I have a gold tone Monet bangle that I got secondhand, and it look's good as new. The finish has not worn off, and the workmanship is something you no longer see in today's jewelry. I mean, I just watched a YT video last week from a young lady who was sharing her experiences with high end designer jewelry. I was shocked to hear that Christian Dior uses plastic pearls for a bracelet that was several hundred dollars! And the pearls on her Chanel earrings kept popping off, and she had to buy extra pearls and some Super Glue to fix it! It's highway robbery what they charge for low quality "designer" jewelry! Although I have to say - I have some Heidi Daus pieces, and they are gorgeous.
Looking forward to your Haskell and showroom jewelry videos :) Stay safe!
Was told about you from Dani the niche lady. Soo glad I listened! Love Love your jewelry! Can’t wait to buy some of your pieces. Love vintage and have some few pieces. When is your next sale please?❤️

Hi. Just wanted to compliment you and say I deeply respect your knowledge on jewelry especially. I do the same thing for work and I know how dedicated and passionate you have to be to learn all the terms and really everything about these companies and their history.
hi there, i just found your chanel, love it! so interesting, ive been collecting vintage jewelry for some time, i would like to sell some, never know where to go. i have some of my moms weiss rhinestones& other jewelry, found a demario brooch&earrings at a thrift store. cant wait to watch& learn more, thanks again!!
Hi Kimberlee, Thank you so much for watching! Have you tried consignment shops? If you do make sure that they won't go below what you both agree is the lowest price. That way, if they negotiate, they still owe you what you are expecting. Send me pictures of the Demario!! Xo ~Dawn
I thrift a lot of jewelry, mostly gold, silver and real stones. Watching your video's has opened my eyes to not overlook costume jewelry. If you find yourself in the Seattle area, I would love to show you my collection and host a shopping trip.
Wonderful!
Great video. Just stop moving the piece around so much.
Thanks for the tip
She stated she had a lot to show and would be moving fast. Personally, I think she gave each piece plenty of time
@@constancerobinson1377It’s not the moving fast through the collection, it’s the shaking and moving of each piece while showing it. I agree. Just hold it still in front of the camera so the viewers have time to take it in.
I may be the only 67 year old male living in Mississippi who has ever subscribed to your channel, but I just did! I chose to subscribe for a couple of reasons.
First, I came to learn more about vintage jewelry because I acquire estate items, including a fair amount of costume jewelry, which I then resell online. I need all the education and help I can get learning how to sort the junk from the jewels! You are the absolutely most knowledgeable source I have encountered on UA-cam plus you have a wonderful stockpile of fantastic pieces to show and teach with. Finding a diamond in a box of rocks isn't easy but I do believe they are out there and if anyone can help me learn how to spot them among the costume pieces we get, you are just the girl to do it!
Second, dang, I could watch you put on and take off jewelry all day long! LOL. You obviously got the runway model look from your mother whom you mentioned, as do a great job of modeling the pieces. Glad I am not having to buy all that stuff for you however!
Finally, I love the Pink Panther theme music intro opening to you dressed in a pink jacket. That is a very CLEVER way to lead into a jewelry video! But if I hear of any major costume jewelry heists in your neck of the woods, I'm going to suggest they check your alibi first. HA.
Have a great day.
Bill
Thank you Trehan for your kind words! xo~Dawn
Also thank you for subscribing that is truly awesome :)
Oh my gosh. That was fun. I am definitely interested in learning more. My mother left me a few pieces and I don't know what b4and and have come across some of the brands you mentioned. They were pretty. I will keep on the look out while shopping, hospital stores. I would love to get some reference books,
Thanks for watching and commenting @elizabethandiosa4579!
Thank you for the comprehensive video! I have a quick question. Should I hold onto a collection of vintage (1950s) colorful gemstone jewelry I bought at an auction in the hopes it'll increase in value? It seems the individual pieces are only valued at $25 - $100 and I spent $260. Thank you for your opinion.
Hi Anna, impossible to say without pictures :) Thanks so much for watching ❤️
@Hudson Vintage One question, one comment. Can you share a general dollar amount value of each piece? And, please increase your sound recording level. Your voice is somewhat muffled, and needs a boost to make it easier to hear you. Thanks.
Great suggestion! I started doing that in more recent videos, when relevant. Thank you so much for your nice comment! The sound has gotten better also. There is a lot of tech stuff to video producing and it is always something.. It turns out the lights were buzzing in that video. Thank you so much for watching! XO~Dawn
I just ran across this channel. I know a ton about dishes and glassware but this is so informative and I’m just loving it. I’ll be following you. You Deff know your stuff. I’m lovin that jacki o jacket to. Lol. Amazing jewelry
I just watched 100vodeos on youtube. I'm 44 and just started collecting last year and realized my passion for it. I I love the video where u went thrift shopping and mentioned that u had to sell it before u got attached to it, I'm the same way. I've seen many quack videos but I couldn't stop watching yours. Thank u so much for your appreciation and passion for this!!
Thank you Jamie so much for saying that. It means I'm doing it right! xo~Dawn
GREAT SHOW!!! WILL CHK MORE OF YOUR VIDEOS OUT!
I’m watching your video because I have a large vintage rosary collection I’m trying to determine the names of the stones and crystals. Most date to Victorian age, Art deco and 1950’s. ( I do have one saphiret rosary) A lot of these rosaries are absolutely beautiful, especially the rock crystal ones….very sparkly.
It's a case by case bases, and you base it on what they are made of and how old they are ;)
What an exquisite collection and thank you so much for sharing you collection as well as your knowledge with all of us. ❤
I’m so glad that I found your channel! (Was at your reverse auction yesterday). Also - your hair is gorgeous 😊

You are so welcome! Thank you for watching! XO~Dawn
I collect some vintage too. Love your stuff. Tired of the videos unbagging crap and calling it vintage.
❤️🤣😘
This was a delicious find. I love costume jewelry and have been collecting for years. Most of it I bought in High School and College back in the late 70's and 80's. I love Haskell. Schiaparelli, Coro, and my new love Lou Lou De La Falaise. She was Yves St. Laurent"s muse. I got a big crazy brooch and did not like it and was going to break it apart and make earrings out of it. I am so glad I looked it up first. The comps were around 650.00 to 700.00. The matching necklace was on 1st dibs for 2300.00. 1st dibs is always the really high price so I figure it would be worth half that. I liked, subscribed and enjoyed this so much. Cheers! Lilli
Fantastic!! I took my first Haskell apart at 16 and then over the next 4 decades this happened.. I love Lou Lou too, she was extremely cool. I knew a friend of her mother Maxime, and ended up with some YSL couture and a scarf Lou Lou wore for Vogue in 1971. I think it's from the peasant collection and is one of my favorites XO~Dawn
I have so much costume jewelry from years of collecting. I would like to know values as well as aspects.

@@HUDSONVINTAGEYes girl, you are a help. You are a ray of light within youtube believe me...❤🎉
Love your knowledge and jewelry..reseller here..make jewelry sometimes..I purchased a ton of Murano, Venetian beads..its fun, but am so busy selling found stuff..no time..but really love your channel.
Hello Dawn. I am very impressed with your knowledge about costume jewelry. I have been selling antiques close to 45 years but never specialized in jewelry. I started taking notice of costume jewelry about 30 years ago (boy I sound old) when a great aunt of mine who worked in a jewelry store her whole life passed away and I was elected to dispose of her costume jewelry. She had fabulous costume jewelry and I learned a lot but you have blown my mind with your depth of knowledge. I do have a question, did Monet make a bracelet to match the necklace on the cover of the book you referenced in your video? I might have the bracelet if they did. Thank you for sharing.
How exciting!! Send a picture please 🙏 hudsonvintage@me.com xo~Dawn
Thank you! This was a pleasant and informative presentation on one of my favorite hobbies. I had no idea that other people collect this type of artworks.
